We really liked the opportunity to determine what to see and in what order so that we could spend more time at the places we liked most. We were looking for a particular brand of Portuguese sardines and the driver stopped at a very large supermarket so we could see if they carried them. One negative was the restaurant we were dropped off at for lunch. It was at a scenic restaurant by the beach, but the menu prices were very high. We would have preferred an authentic restaurant with lower cost options

Pedro was fantastic with our tour of Sintra. His knowledge was encyclopaedias. He connected different elements of the past creating an interesting and understandable history. Pedro was friendly and very accommodating to what ever we wanted for the day.
Pedro, is a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. I wish he were available for all 4 days we were in Lisbon. Recommendation for lunch was 1st class. Ask for this young man when you book your private tour.
Pedro did a wonderful job guiding us throughout the day. We learned lots of interesting facts about Portugal, had serval fun conversations, saw multiple historical sites, and got to visit some hidden gems for treats/food/drinks that the locals enjoy. A+
It was so nice being able to choose what we wanted to do and having someone who was so knowledgeable.
Pedro was so knowledgeable and you can tell he loved history and his job. He taught us so much throughout the day. We truly enjoyed him and everything he showed us. If we could give him more than 5 stars we would. Pedro truly made our experience.
Had a wonderful time learning about the Sintra region with Sebastian. Very comfortable van and enjoyable stops. Definitely recommend to see the region outside of Lisbon.
Pedro was absolutely amazing in every way! Really knowledgeable about the palaces and the surrounding area and history of the area. He was very personable and a good conversationalist!
Our full-day Sintra tour was smooth and easy with Pedro as our guide and driver. Not only did Pedro know the history of these sights, but he navigated easily between five different sights. Pedro made our tour memorable and stress-free.
Wow! What a wonderful day spent with a wonderful guide. Miguel was so knowledgeable and great with our kids, age 2 and 5. We travelled in a group of 6 with two seniors as well. He really tried to engage our kids with the history and was so helpful and kind to help haul our stroller. The van was immaculate and roomy for 6 people and included car seats and a booster. Would recommend for any one looking for a tour and I’d ask for Miguel by name.
This was absolutely worth every penny we spent!! Pedro G picked us up at our hotel and we had a pleasant drive to Sintra where he explained monuments and history that we passed. We started our Sintra visit off with the local pastry "travesseiro" at Casa Piriquita, a bakery that started in 1862. A delicious way to be welcomed into our day of adventuring. After admiring & learning about the National Palace, we headed to our timed entry into Quinta da Regaleira. Pedro G had great insights into the property's history and how it came to be today. Afterwards, we headed to a delicious Portuguese lunch at Tasca Saloia. We enjoyed local Portuguese "vinho verde" and "chourico" - charred chorizo at your table! This gave us plenty of energy to tackle the Pena Palace - which Pedro G navigated for us wonderfully. We ended our day with extra time at Cascais, since weather prevented an enjoyable trip to Boca do Inferno. In addition to the wonderful sights & tastes of this small slice of Portugal, Pedro G was an excellent tour guide with great insights, patience with our many questions, and pleasant company on our tour. After watching very large, slightly impersonal tour groups around Sintra - we were so thankful to have our friend Pedro G showing us around! We cannot recommend this tour's value highly enough. Obrigado!
Our tour guide, Sebastian, drove us from Lisbon through beautiful seasides. We highly recommend visiting Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. Cascais is a must see town! Sebastian introduced to a delicious seaside family owned restaurant with spectacular views of the ocean with incredible rock formations. He stopped at many great seaside locations. This trip was very enjoyable and well hosted by Sebastian.
We had an excellent tour of Sintra and we were able to customize our day based on our wishes and recommendations from the guide. We loved Sintra and our lunch in beautiful Cascais and a few recommended stops like Cabo do Roca in between. Very comfortable minivan and Pedro was an excellent driver and guide. We had a wonderful day. 5-stars!
Our full-day private tour to Sintra was outstanding. Our guide Pedro Alves was the best guide I have experienced in a very long time. He had uncomparable knowledge of everything Portugal, and made the 1hr+ trip to Sintra extra enjoyable. Once in Sintra, he helped us make lunch reservations, and then gave us a detailed tour of both the Palace of the Queens, and the Pena Palace. In addition, he is a great driver, and the vehicle extremely comfortable. I would definitely use I GO PORTUGAL again.
Pedro did a wonderful job of creating a personalized tour of Sintra and Cascais. We ended up having an incredible day exploring the Quinta de Monserrate, the National Palace of Sintra, and Quinta da Regaleira! We skipped the iconic Pena Palace since we visited on a previous trip, but Sintra has so many amazing places to discover that there is always something new to see. Both Quinta da Regaleira and Quinta de Monserrate reflect the extraordinary wealth and imagination of the people who built them. The intricate architecture, elaborate gardens, and incredible attention to detail represent investments of money and craftsmanship that are almost unimaginable today. One of the highlights was Quinta da Regaleira, with its 20-meter-deep Initiation Well and network of man-made tunnels and caves designed to create an almost sacred, mystical atmosphere. On our way back, we made a stop in the beautiful coastal town of Cascais to round out another memorable day in Portugal. Sintra is truly a destination where history, architecture, and imagination come together!
Pedro was very knowledgeable and gave us a beautiful and memorable day out. My husband left his phone in the van and Pedro brought it to us quickly and would not accept a tip for his troubles. A very classy young man!
It was a great day and Sintra, Pena Palace and Regleira are certainly wonderful sights to see. There is a lot of walking and much is uphill. Pedro was a very informative guide and made for a memorable day.
Great full day tour of Sintra palaces, the coast and Cascais. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the palaces and area. She knew how to navigate the crowds to make the most of our time there and a great day all around!
We had an absolutely amazing experience exploring Sintra with Pedro! From beginning to end, he went above and beyond to make sure our entire family was comfortable, especially our little one. His kindness, patience, and thoughtfulness meant so much to us as parents traveling with young children. Pedro is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Portugal. He shared so many fascinating stories, historical facts, and details that made every stop even more special. He knew all the best spots and made sure we experienced the beauty of Sintra & Cascais. We spent the entire day with him, and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide! He made us feel welcomed, cared for, and completely at ease throughout the day. If you’re visiting Sintra, I cannot recommend Pedro enough! He truly made this one of the highlights of our family vacation. Thank you, Pedro, for such a wonderful and memorable experience!
Sebestio is a gifted tour guide who is at once kind, knowledgeable and sagacious. On multiple occasions he went out of his way to make our trip meaningful and fun. He gave away his recyclables to make room for our wheelchair. He steadied my spouse when needed. Most of all he tailored a trip for us that we all could enjoy and remember. This is a one in a million trip. If you want to see Sintra, this is the trip for you.
We enjoyed visiting the palaces, learning more about Portugal and its history, and seeing Cascais. Sebastian was an excellent driver and tour guide.
Miguel picked us up at our hotel. He was polite, engaging and very knowledgeable about Portugal. He showed us the highlights of Sintra and Cascais, including the truly spectacular Biester Palace and garden. He made a reservation for us at Mar do Inferno for lunch in Cascais; a seafood restaurant on the water with delicious food and drinks. Miguel had also given us a tour of Lisbon the day before. We learned about Lisbon's history, including the Portuguese explorers, when we saw the Monument of the Discoveries, the tragedy of the earthquake and the rebuilding of the city thereafter, and the Praça do Comercio where several members of the royal family were killed. Miguel also made sure that we could enjoy the original pastel de Nata, custard tart, at Pastéis de Belém. My husband loved them! Miguel was also kind enough to get me a gluten-free option. It was delicious. We highly recommended Miguel and his tour company.
We had a great tour of Sintra mainly thanks to our guide Pedro G. who made sure we got to all of our destinations safely and provided a wonderful history of the sites. I would highly recommend this tour and hopefully you'll be lucky enough to get Pedro as your guide.
Our guide Katherine was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and personable and made the day special. Booking was seamless and they were responsive to questions and accommodated our special requests. The Mercedes van was immaculate and comfortable. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough!
Pedro was a great guide. he was a lot of fun and knowledgeable and made the trip a memorable experience. He made sure we were taken care of the whole tour, especially one of our party who had mobility issues. We got to see everything we wanted to say with no rush and a few nice breaks in between. I couldn’t recommend the tour iand him more highly.
My wife and I did the private day tour to Sintra, Pena Palace and other sites. Our driver was Sebastian, he was excellent. Very knowledgeable, fluent in English and accommodated perfectly our wishes for a quiet day seeing sites outside Lisbon after a long travel day. Can was super comfortable, excellent driver, very courteous and safe. Would highly recommend, just wear comfortable and stable shoes for hills and cobblestones.
Fantastic day with Katherine, cant say enough good things about her! Very easy going and knowledgeable, a save driver, very relaxed the whole day. Gave us tremendous insight and history, booked a superb lunch place for us as well. A total delight, would highly recommend her, and her company for any future private tours. Excellent value as well!
Jorge was such a kind, knowledgeable tour guide! Our tour was tailored to our interests and he knew how to avoid some of the long lines. He gave us some space as well for our delicious lunch and stroll through Cascais. The day was seamless and fun. Thank you!
We really appreciated having Sebastian for our guide. He was so informative and we learned so much. I recommend having a guide otherwise you are just seeing beautiful things without having history.
An enjoyable visit to the highlights of Sintra and Cascais. Our guide, Katherine, was very knowledgable, friendly, and a great driver. She gave great recommendations as well. Highly recommended.
Our best decision was to get a private guide. They are so knowledgeable about the history of the castle and have some fun and interesting facts.
We had an amazing experience. Our guide was Miguel for the private tour. We were pleasantly surprised that we were having a private tour but thrilled as Miquel was as knowledgeable on one subject as much as another: Portuguese history, European history, American history as well as being up on current trends and cultural differences. He made the tour interesting memorable. The sites themselves were fantastic and we had just the right amount of free time as well as guided time. I also enjoyed the idea that we had input in the sites and the timing.
I feel that your guide you are with will determine your experience. We had the best guide ever. Pedro is his name! He had so much knowledge about everything. Sintra was Beautiful and the Palace was a bit crowded by still worth seeing.
Sebastian was knowledgeable, efficient and accommodating. He ensured we knew where we were supposed to go, what to do and times to meet. He rushed to get the van to pick us up and went out of his way to be helpful. We had Full Tour at his Pena Palace and he went in and got us front of the line access. And at Quinta de Regaliera he lead the way for the challenging visit. We would highly recommend Sebastian as a great tour guide that is full of knowledge for you visit.
We were picked up at our Hotel in a very nice and clean van. Our tour guide Pedro introduced himself and we immediately knew it was going to be a good day! He is a very good driver and we felt at ease the whole time. Pedro is also a wealth of knowledge about the area. We visited Sintra, which is where he is from. We had time to explore the area on our own and then he met up with us to walk to the Regaleria while he taught us about the property and about Sintra. We bought tickets to the Regaleria online before the trip. I had a hard time downloading them so a screenshot was sufficient for entrance. I would recommend printing the tickets as well before the trip. The Regaleria is amazing. There is so much to take in and we felt we had plenty of time to learn and explore. After the Regaleria we had a nice lunch in Cascais then explored Cascais a bit before heading back to our hotel in Lisbon. The whole tour was 9 hours. Driving to Sintra took about 40 minutes one way. On the way back there was a little more traffic in Lisbon which is to be expected. It was a great day and well worth the price of the tour! It was a stress free and enjoyable day and we would highly recommend our tour guide Pedro! He speaks English fluently and I heard him speak Spanish as well. He might even speak other languages!
I was traveling solo, and Katherine made my day in Sintra absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I met her, I felt completely at ease. It honestly felt less like being with a tour guide and more like spending the day with a warm, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable friend. We visited Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Cabo da Roca (the westernmost point in Europe) and Cascais. Katherine brought every place to life with her incredible knowledge of the history, architecture, and fascinating families who lived there and helped shape these remarkable places. Her stories and insights gave me a much deeper appreciation for everything I was seeing. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how comfortable and relaxed she made the entire day feel. She was warm, personable, funny, and genuinely passionate about sharing her knowledge. I never felt like I was simply being taken from one attraction to another; it felt like I was exploring with a friend who happened to know everything about Sintra. I can't recommend Katherine highly enough. If you're traveling solo or if you're looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, engaging, warm, and makes you feel completely comfortable, Katherine is the person to book. She made an already beautiful day absolutely exceptional, and I would happily book another tour with her!
Our guides Catherine and Pedro were very good and really looked after us very well. They explained the history of the buildings and anything else we asked. There is a lot of walking and quite a bit of it uphill.
We had a fabulous tour with Pedro. He was very knowledgeable with Portuguese history. He also made a wonderful lunch recommendation as well as taking us to a few more unexpected stops. We would highly recommend him as your tour guide.
The guide was fantastic. Professional, knowledgeable, experienced. Spoke perfect English. What a wonderful experience! We highly recommend this tour.
This was hands down the best tour of our entire trip! Miguel was absolutely phenomenal! We were able to move through each of the palaces with such ease while enjoying a truly personalized experience. Miguel went above and beyond in every way! He was incredibly knowledgeable at every stop and even helped out a few other tour guides who were stumped by certain facts and questions. 100/10 experience! We’re so glad we let Miguel take the lead while we sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed everything Sintra had to offer. If you’re considering booking this tour, DO IT! You will not be disappointed! :)
Our tour guide was Pedro. He was great. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He took us to the right places at the right time.
We had a wonderful experience! Our guide was incredibly friendly, helpful, kind, and professional throughout the entire tour. They made us feel welcome and comfortable, and everything was well organized. We truly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend this tour and our fantastic driver/guide to anyone visiting the area!
The Palaces were beautiful and definitely worth the hikes to get there. Our guide Savastian was quite knowledgeable and enjoyed this private guide experience
This was an excellent tour and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. Pedro was prompt, professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about Portuguese history. My son is also a history lover, so they hit it off immediately. The palaces were incredible. The quaint town of Sintra was perfect for lunch and a little shopping. The visit to Cabo da Roca was beautiful and well worth it. Last stop of the day was to the seaside town of Cascais where we explored a bit and had some excellent gelato. It was a perfect day from start to finish. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon.
I am writing to share my positive experience with the I Go Portugal. Miguel was an excellent Tour Guide and Driver, prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. We started at the Portugal Cruise Terminal, as I requested, and then visited almost every fantastic sights around Portugal and Pena Castle. Miguel managed the time perfevtly making sure every sight was covered within the 7 hour trip. I particularly enjoyed the time spent in pena Palace, The streets and history of Lisbon and specially the pastries. Overall, it was one the best experience. Once again Thank you Miguel. It would have not been great without you.
The tour was absolutely wonderful. Miguel was the best. He was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. His English is impeccable. The car was extremely comfortable. His knowledge of Portugal's history was amazing. We leaned so much. This is an A+++ tour. You cannot go wrong with Miguel as your guide. We give our highest recommendation!
Fantastic day trip to Sintra! Sebastian did a great job getting us to all the different attractions and explaining the history and background. Highly recommend!
My dad and I did our first trip to Portugal and knew that Sintra was going to be a must-do. After researching and seeing the reviews for this provider, I booked us in for a private day tour and it was the best decision! Sebastian was the perfect guide. He was polite, timely and so knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to make sure our tour was amazing. It was the hottest day (100F 🔥) and Sebastian was so patient and accommodating. He even went back to our car to help drop off souvenirs we bought and still managed to catch up with us (up hill!) on our trek up to Regaleria (which is a must do!!) The van we had was comfortable, clean and such a luxury given the long drive and souvenir buying we did. And the air conditioning saved the day under the extreme heat. Highlighly recommend booking and definitely ask for Sebastian to be your guide!
It was a nice day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. It was a great experience, we saw some pretty places and had some great food.
We had a great day out travelling in Sintra from Lisbon. Our guide Pedro was brilliant and flexible and made sure we saw and understood everything. Everything was on time and ran smoothly on the day. I highly recommend!
