The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal. Close enough to the capital and situated high above the Atlantic coast, Óbidos had a strategic importance in the territory. Already occupied before the Romans reached the Iberian Peninsula, the village became more prosperous from the moment it was chosen by the royal family.
These caves were discovered in 1947. The entrance is 300m in altitude, but inside they reach 180m in depth. Their formation goes back 150 million years to the Middle Jurassic age, when the dinosaurs populated this region. Their footprints can be seen here today.
Take a short break for lunch (own expense) in Nazaré, a quaint fishing town famous for its variety of restaurants and cafes. A popular summer retreat for the Portuguese, the village offers an interesting insight into local life. Short stop at the Nazaré cliffs to see the ocean views
Another great tour experience by Choose Your Emotions. Our guide Mauro, knew the back roads, back stories, and the perfect places to see. He arranged a wonderful meal at a local restaurant where the salmon with risotto was incredible! This is a trustworthy company whose aim is our enjoyment!
An incredible full day tour of Fatima, Nazare and the caves.
I love booking tours through Viator although this time I was disappointed. I had booked a tour for March 20th. On the 18th I changed the trip for March 19th. I received new tickets and saved them to my Apple Wallet. I sent an email to the provider with the heads up. This was a private tour so I wanted to confirm the pick up time. No response. I sent a second message on the 18th. I tried calling - no response. On the morning oh the 19th I sent another message and called. No response. I had my hotel call twice thinking I could not connect with my phone. Still no response. I then chatted with Viator customer service. I was told they would email the provider and email me back. Still nothing. At 10am I called Viator - they reached out to the provider and responded that they had no availability for March 19th. Yet I had ticket vouchers. I still have not received a response or received a refund.
Good trip to explore key sites around Lisbon. Glad to visit the holy place Fatima and Obido. Next time probably should spend more time to appreciate the locals more.
This tour is must ! 5star ! Our tour guide , Ramiro was lovely , professional and thoughtful to all our needs . We loved all the sights and took some amazing photos of Natural caves , Nazare , Obidos , Fatima . The best is we could customize this trip based on the weather conditions and didn’t feel like we missing anything . If you want a mix of nature and historical sites / towns this is the one !
Fantastic experience. Not only did we see great sites we also learned a lot about Portugal very accommodating making sure we saw everything that was important to us. The bottle of water was a nice touch. Highly recommend.

Pedro and the members of Choose Your Emotions tour company were fantastic. We explored the beauty of Óbidos and Nazaré on the way to Porto. No stone unturned with this group. They made sure we knew the history of each stop and had the time to really venture out and see what the town had to offer. I highly recommend them.

What wonderful adventure this tour was! We had a great time. All the paces mentioned were fantastic, full of history and culture. Our guide was knowledgeful and kind to us. On time since the stat of the tour. Nazaré was collapsed the day we went, so if you see too much people and cars, make it a quick visit and go to the next stop.

The tour company was very adaptable to our ideas. We were able to cut out one destination and add another. We were able to cover four sites. We did not cover anything in depth, but were able to see the highlights in the areas we wanted to visit in the short time we had to do so. our driver Francisco was fantastic. I highly recommend him.
We went with our tour guy Pedro and all I can say is how amazing he made our experience. He was very accommodating from the start…. He picked us up at our hotel at a time that worked for us. From that point on it was nothing short of spectacular. Throughout the entire drive to the caves, Nazarene and Obidos he explained everything about the drive and what we were seeing. On top of all that he tailored the conversations and experience to our exact needs. This made the entire trip worth it. The sights were perfect, obidos was my favorite! We loved it so much , we canceled our previously planned experience and booked it with him. All I can say is this was money well spent for an amazing day! Thank you Pedro for making our experience in Lisbon unforgettable one!!!
Caves, beaches, cathedrals. This was an excellent day trip and Francisco was pleasant and very methodical with his presentation. Very impressed. This makes me want to return to Portugal soon!
This was our first trip to Portugal and we had a short visit to Lisbon so I wanted to make the most of our time. The most memorable experience was at Fatima and the underground caves. First Fatima, this had been on my bucket list for some time. I wished we could’ve timed our visit to take part in the outdoor services but we caught just the tail end of it. Nonetheless it was a beautiful experience for me just being there and hearing the choir singing and the music. Then on to the underground caves, what a sight! Loved the history and seeing the beauty of nature underground. Our tour guide was Edite, she was personable, knowledgeable, as well as thoughtful. We enjoyed our tour so much we booked her again for the next day for another day/tour at the last minute! This was our first time using Viator. We will book with them again for future trips.
This tour is a long one. The caves were beautiful but the cave tour guide would not tell us about it in English, only in Portuguese. She said to load an app to our phone and listen to that for English, even though half of the 40 or so people in our group spoke English. That was very disappointing. Fatima was ok, but Nazare was spectacular as was Obidos. Highly recommend this tour for those 2 places. My guide was Edite. She was sweet and fun despite a couple things that happened at the start of our tour that were totally out of her control. She maintained a great positive attitude and was exceptionally knowledgeable about the history of each place. She is a wonderful guide and I would take another tour with her again if I ever come back to Lisbon. Do NOT pass up the opportunity to drink the Queens Wine from the chocolate cup in Obidos. Superb!
The toure was fantastic. Our tour Guide/Driver Edite definitely knew her stuff and made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The history and the stories of all the places we saw was great. Edite was a delightful tour guide and made us feel as though a family member was guiding us around. We happened to be in Fatima on thr 13th of May which happens to be the most important day and celebration of Lady Fatima first appeared in 1917. The second most memorable we visited was Nazare. The whole day of tour was just absolutely amazing and memorable. We could not have enjoyed and appreciated it all without the help of our wonderful private tour guide, Francisco! Incredibly knowledgeable and nice and funny and very professional. If anyone ever thinks of doing this tour - DO IT!!!! So worth it and make sure to only ask for Francisco for your guide! Obrigada.
We canceled because the car was too small for my husband and very uncomfortable. The driver guid was not nice and he had a woman that was training with him… too many people

I really enjoyed the private tour and the driver Francisco was fun and entertaining, however we spent too much time in the car . All the cities were too far from each other like an hour away . It would be of nice to spend more time in each city. We spent an hour in the cave, 30 minutes in Fatima , 15 minutes in Nazare and 20 minutes in Obidos . Overall it was fund day .
It's hard to pick a favorite part of the tour-the whole trip was wonderful! Francisco was enthusiastic, shared so much information -historical and otherwise- and absolutely made the trip an unforgettable experience. What a great day!
I loved all four stops. Mire de Aire was meaningful because that is where my grandfather was from. Fatima was moving and impressive. An amazing view from Nazare. Loved walking through the castle at Obidos. Pedro our guide was so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.

We had a great time! Every single stop was beautiful in its own way. I enjoyed our conversations with our guide, Francisco, and his great recommendations for places to eat afterwards. The only regret was that we were short on time everywhere. We just wanted to see so much more of each place!

The tour was great fun and our guide Francisco was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. The only thing to be aware of is that, unless you rush through the tour, you will need to purchase an extension, which we had to do. I personally recommend asking your guide to skip one of the stops so you do not feel rushed. For example, outside late Fall and Winter, you might want to skip Nazare because there are no big waves, and otherwise, you could skip Fatima because it is nice to see, but, unless you are a person of faith, nothing special.
Francisco was a fantastic tour guide. Our first stop was Mira de Aire cave, while its many steps down, 658 to be exact, it is something you just wouldn't want to miss. Absolutely breathtaking. Followed by Fatima, the history and beauty is just something everyone needs to experience. Knowing now, I would have skipped Nazare, while it's a lovely village, known for some unbelievable waves, we were out of season and you definitely want more time in Obidos, a village within the walls. Just fantastic place to roam around.
Fabulous tour with lots of terrific history lessons from Francisco! Felt safe and comfortable the entire trip. Francisco provided us with the perfect balance of giving us time to explore on our own, while also being helpful and he made great recommendations for the remainder of our trip. Tremendous experience. Our local guide, Pedro, did an excellent job transporting us between experiences, as well as adding context and history of the areas we drove through. We were lucky enough to see the huge surf at Nazare. Obidos is not to be missed. This tour was a great way to see the highlights of Central Portugal .
Francisco was a wonderful tour guide. He was punctual, very pleasant and most importantly has a vast knowledge and love of the history of Portugal which made our trip more meaningful.
This 3 city tour gave us a great overview of these different cities. Pedro, our guide was very informative and personable. His lunch recommendation was one of the best meals we have had in our round the world travels.
This is not a knock on the tour btw the best part of the tour was martha she was a wonderful tour guide sweet friendly knowledgable and when out of her way to make the tohr as pleasant as possible my only issue is that i feel there is too much to do in too little time i think of the tour started around 8 or 9 maybe you can see everything so that is something i hope that can be taking into consideration would i reccomended yes and no if you want to see everything than no if you dont mind going at your own pace and seeing what ever you can than yes

We had a great experience with Pedro our private guide. He was knowledgeable on the history and accommodated all our needs. Our most memorable experience was Nazarre and the wonderful restaurant we dined at. I would highly recommend Choose Your Emotions for a private tour.
The beginning was a little rough. Did not have a confirmation of the tour and of course the start time. The problem was caused by both the tour company and us. The company did try to reach us a couple of days before the trip but we did not see it. Our fault. Our hotel was able to reach the company the night before the trip. The company was short of drivers and would have preferred we changed our date but we couldn’t. The company said we would have a driver so we continued. Bottom line, the owner of the company ended up being our driver/ guide. He was excellent. We had modifications to the tour and he willing obliged. He was and excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and very intelligent. It ended up being one of our best tour experiences.

We wanted to go to Portugal to visit family and friends for a while now and we got just 2 days in because of work... I booked the tour 1 day before and still the team was fast and courteous in replying to my questions. Me and my wife got picked up, and escorted from the hotel to the car by our friendly guide Luis that became a good friend afterwards! The service was amazing and there are places in the tour like the Caves that almost no-one knows about it and it was awesome! Definitely recommend it
The tour with Pedro was awesome. He’s very profissional, sweet and is always making sure that we’re having the best time. He makes us feel at ease right away, as if we’re wandering around with a friend, and he teaches us some very interesting things. Overall a really good experience and I would totally recommend it.
