My mom and i are french and were travelling for her birthday, just the 2 of us. I booked a Tuk Tuk tour with private guide to stroll through alfama so it isn’t too tiring for her (as my mom is getting old and it can be hard to walk too long under the sun with stairs and all). Bruni wasn’t only super knowledgeable about the city, he also is extremely kind, bubbly and thoughtful. Our tour even last longer than expected because he wanted to make sure we have our sweet time for photos and all questions.. he speaks several languages and also used a translator to communicate easily in French with my mom.. we also saw all the main points of the area, nice views and all. i couldn’t recommend this guide & tour more. Do not hesitate and book it, guys! Definitely worth it. À mes compatriotes français : je recommande vivement de réserver ce tour avec Bruni. Ce guide est très instruit, prends le temps qu’il nous faut pour apprécier l’activité / la ville, sans vraiment se soucier de l’heure. Il est extrêmement gentil et positif, toujours souriant. Il utilise un traducteur instantané qui fonctionne bien en français mais son anglais parlé est très bon aussi. Je voyageais avec ma mère pour son anniversaire et ceci a vraiment marqué notre séjour. Pink Street, in the Cais do Sodré, is one of those streets that draws attention DE far away. The floor is literally pink, and that already ensures amazing photos. Today it is one of the most famous places DE Lisbon, especially among those who want to combine history, animation and a different look.
The Largo do Carmo is one of those corners DE Lisbon that surprises by its calm. In the middle of the Chiado and so close to the bustle DA the city, it looks like a quiet refuge, surrounded POR trees, historic buildings and that charm that only Lisbon has. The highlight, of course, are the ruins of the Carmo Convent. They stand there, imposing, open to the sky, reminiscent of the Readership of the 1755 earthquake. The Palace DE Saint Benedict is one of those places that impresses DE face. You turn the corner and face a huge, elegant building, full DE columns and stairs that make us feel like you are right DE front DE something important. And it is. Here works the Assembly DA Republic, the Portuguese parliament, where the big decisions of the country are made.
The Basilica DA Estrela is one of those churches that makes people stop POR a second just to admire. She appears on the horizon with that huge, white dome, illuminated by the sun, and already gives a chance DE enter before even knowing the story. It is right in front of the Garden DA Estrela, so the scenery already helps: it is all beautiful, calm and with that charm typical DE Lisbon. The basilica was commissioned to be built by Queen Dona Maria I as a form DE thanksgiving for the birth of her son. And, of course, they didn't spare capricho. It is wide, clear, full of colorful marble, golden details and a harmony that impresses without exaggerating. It's the kind DE place that conveys peace just DE entering.
