This tour was amazing! We had Josè who truly took this tour to the next level. We didn’t do much research before booking on Get your Guide so we really allowed José to take the wheel. We went to the Turkish Castle, Quinta de Regaleria, explored Sintra, stoped for a stunning scenic lunch on the ocean, and so much more. He answered all of our questions and was a true delight to be around. A private tour can be awkward if you don’t get along with your tour guide but by the end he felt like a long time family friend. You truly don’t meet many people like José. Our tour even went 2 hours over and he never even rushed us- he even took us to the most popular gelato in town despite the wait. While Sintra was amazing, I know we had the best time possible because of Josè- so you must book him! All in all cannot recommend this tour enough. Josè recommended booking directly through Viator and make sure to contact Lisbon on Wheels before so you can truly customize your tour to be “bespoke”. If we end up back in Portugal in the next few years we would definitely book this tour with Josè again.

Itinerary
Visit to the beautiful and historic town of Sintra, a UNESCO world heritage site. Discover the picturesque streets, the Sintra National Palace, the fountains, the churches, chapels and shrines.
Climb to the Moorish Castle (Ticket Included) where the construction of the first sections of its wall dates from the 8th and 9th century. From the castle, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the whole region. It can’t be missed!
We will pass by Quinta da Regaleira, one of the most amazing monuments of Sintra. This place is one of the most startling, magical and mysterious of the area. We will explore its tunnels, mazes and its riddles and symbols that remind us of the mythology, of Olympus, Virgil, Dante, Camões and of the Knights Templar of the Order of Christ. A place not to be missed!
A stop at a special place where you'll learn about the history of wine and taste the best regional wines.
Next, discover the most westerly point of continental Europe. From the cliff tops, enjoy the fantastic view of the beaches and the sea. From the road near the coast, you can gaze at the beaches and the beautiful towns of Estoril and Cascais.
On the way back, we will have the chance to enjoy this unique beach with its famous dunes. A real sanctuary for surf, windsurf and kitesurf.
And of course we can’t leave without visiting the charming town of Cascais. This former fishing village used to be a royal getaway. Nowadays it still is one of the most attractive destinations for the Portuguese and foreign elite thanks to all that it has to offer: boutiques, restaurants, hotels, beaches and much more.

Jose was AMAZING!!! Had the best day with Jose as our tour guide. He was extremely informative and made our day special! He was willing to stop where you asked and always had a smile on his face. I highly recommended having him as your tour guide.
We had an amazing a private tour with José. His knowledge of the area is incredible and he brought us to some fantastic local spots for a truly unique experience while being open to stopping off where we preferred. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to fully experience what Sintra has to offer.
Jose R. Was more than a tour guide…he was an exceptional human being with a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. Enjoyed our day immensely!!!
Fantastic tour led by the great Jose Ribeiro. We had very specific requirements in that we are tour started in Lisbon but our trip carried on to Cascais. Jose was more than happy to accommodate our travel requirements and our luggage. In fact, every aspect of our tour was tailored to our specific interests. Jose was happy to lend his expertise and his opinions, but the trip was otherwise catered to our whims. We asked to see some of the beach areas north of Cascais just to save us the day-trips we had planned. He was more than happy to accommodate. Jose is a delightful tour guide, full of stories and knowledge and energy and kindness. He really bonded with our whole family.
What a magnificent day! Jose truly made our trip unforgettable. From his personal tour of the Moorish castle, to introducing us to a wonderful small wine shop, to teaching us about the region’s unique wine and introducing us to the head of the wine collective, to taking us to an out of the way restaurant that he takes his own family to, to his wonderful sense of humor and stories, Jose was one of the (if not THE) best guides we have ever had. I couldn’t recommend this trip more.
This was an excellent private tour of the Sintra area and Moorish Castle. Of note, this area is HIGHLY crowded with lots of tourists, so having a private guide was VERY helpful. Miguel was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating!! Would highly recommend!
Great tour and amazing tour guide! Miguel knew everything about the city and you could ask him anything. We saw a lot of great things and he made beautiful pictures. He knew every small detail of every place and told it with joy. He also gave other nice restaurants/siteseeing recommendations for the rest of the days of our vacation. Really good!
We booked this tour and we were lucky to have Miguel as a guide. He provided us with really interesting information; he knows a lot about history and culture. Next to this he told us fun facts, we were laughing all the the time and above all he made great photographs! It was a great day, only the wine tasting was a bit short.
This tour made our entire trip/visit to Portugal. Miguel was so incredibly knowledgeable and helpful as we toured the different areas. We wouldn't have been able to see/do all that on our own. The tour & our guide Miguel were fantastic!
We had a private tour with Jose and we all agreed he made it one of the best tours we have had. He made the day fun with humor and was very accommodating and shared his knowledge, answered questions and gave us good tips/suggestions. Highly recommend Jose if you can get him for your guide on any tours and the Moorish castle is so worth the walk up to - great view and photo ops.
Our tour with Miguel was absolutely the highlight of our trip! This private tour allowed us to spend more time in the areas we were most interested in and skip anything we were not interested in. We also had time to explore the town and grab lunch on our own. Our guide, Miguel, was one of the most worldly people we have ever met, speaking a million languages and exhibiting cultural knowledge about the countries in which all of them are spoken. He provided us with interesting facts about the areas we were seeing both during our drive there and while we were in Sintra and Cascais. He speaks perfect English and has a great sense of humor that kept us laughing the whole time. Better yet, Miguel also served as our personal photographer throughout the entire excursion! Book this trip - you won't regret it!
This was an incredible day trip! Jose was a fantastic guide, he tailored the day to our interests adding Quinta da Regaleira as well as a few other stops along the way to the listed points of interest. Would highly recommend this tour!
The tour with Jose was incredible. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. Highly recommend!
Where do I even begin? This review unfortunately has taken me 3 months to write. In October, my boyfriend and I decided to stay in Lisbon for a week for vacation. We heard amazing things and we had such a travel bug. When booking, a friend referred us to Lisbon on Wheels and we could not have been more impressed. Thankfully, because without even experiencing one, we booked three trips at the time of travel. The first full day we were in Lisbon, we were picked up at our hotel by Eddie. Right away, the three of us got along great. He has an amazing sense of humor and he knows so much about Portugal! We went on the Private Sintra Tour from Lisbon with Wine Tasting and Moorish Castle. We first drove to Sintra and we were picked up an hour early to beat the crowds (thankfully!) We basically had it all to ourselves! Eddie had my phone the whole entire day, snapping photos of us in every scenic moment. I am SO thankful for this as sometimes it is awkward to ask to get your picture taken. He was a great photographer and I now have amazing memories of the whole day. He was so knowledgable about everything and he really made sure we understood and got to take everything in before we moved on. He gave us a half hour to walk around and enjoy/take photos. Next, we climbed up Moorish Castle together. He came with us and again took over 50 photos for us! The castle was amazing and we basically were alone up there, which he said rarely happens :) It even started to rain a bit but we didn't mind at all! We continued on a scenic tour, went to the beach, had an amazing seafood lunch, and went to the western most part of Europe. He made us feel so comfortable and he was hilarious! For our last stop, he took us to a place where Harry Potter was filmed. We were about to get out of the car, but it started to rain. Eddie opened up a bottle of wine for us to drink and he went up the hill to see if the view was still worth it. The rain stopped and we all went back up. Eddie took my phone to snap a picture and next thing I know, my boyfriend was down on one knee and proposed to me. It was hands down the most unforgettable moment of my life. Eddie took a video and numerous photos so that I was able to share the whole experience with my family and friends at home. I will never be able to say thank you enough! We also went on two other tours with Lisbon on Wheels during our week. We did the Arrabida Full adventure pack – 4x4 ride and boat ride as well as the Azeitão and Alentejo Wine and Food Sampling Tour. For both of these tours, we had Jose! We do not have enough kind words to say about him! Jose was early both days. He is so friendly and an amazing tour guide. First, we went on a boat ride and the water was beautiful. It was a perfect breezy day. They let us off the private boat to hangout on the beach for a bit! Next, we went to a quick wine tasting and picked up a few bottles on wine (still shocked how cheap but delicious the wine is!) After, we drove through very narrow roads up the Arrabida mountains. The views were breathtaking from the ocean to the mountain side and being able to see Portugal from so high up. We stopped together for a HUGE lunch of all Portugal food. Jose told us everything we should try and to keep going up to fill our plates. He made sure we tried a bit of everything to see what we enjoyed. Just from a lunch we learned so much about Portugal! We then were dropped off by Jose to do the kart adventure. At first our kart broke down about 5 minutes in, but they were extremely professional and went and got us a new one ASAP. After that we took turns driving the kart all through the paths with amazing views on both sides. It was my fiance's favorite part of the whole trip! I definitely recommend this! The last trip we did was the wine and food sampling tour with Jose! This trip spent a lot of the time in the car as it is far from Lisbon but still worth it! We went home with quite a few bottles of wine! Everyone at the various wineries were so friendly and helpful. We learned so much about wine production in Portugal. Needless to say our lips were purple from the wine after this day! Jose also took us to the cork factory. We didn't think we were able to go in but Jose led the way and they let us look around! We even took home a few souvenirs. Lastly, we ended at my favorite of the trip, Casa Relvas. The most amazing food, wine sampling, wine tour, etc! You can't go wrong with any of these tours! Overall, our trip was fantastic. We are so thankful for Lisbon on Wheels, Eddie and Jose. We would not have had the trip we did without them. They helped plan our other days spent in Portugal - with tons of suggestions for things to do in Lisbon and Porto. I recommend Lisbon on Wheels to everyone I speak to! Thank you again and we hope to be back one day soon :)
Wonderful day. Picked up by Luis S. He was a very knowlegeable and kind guide. I had a bad cold and he kindly stoped at the drug store and translated for me. He knows the area very well. Great day well organized but yet we never felt rushed. Sintra is breathtaking. The castle is magical. Thank you Luis for a memorable day in your beautiful country. Rose + Kim.

We had an awesome day! We took in the Moorish Castle and also the Pena Palace which shouldn't be missed. A great lunch in a small village and then the wine tasting: It was an absolutely perfect day! Highly recommended for your stay in Lisbon!!
