We loved the idea of having a private tour guide...it allows you to guage time on your personal liking. Our guide Martha was very knowledgeable and allowed us to make decisions on what to do with our time. No waiting on other people but enjoyed the tour with ease. She even suggested a nice place to get tapas away from the crowds. Altogether a very good experience.

You will walk through its caves before you get to know the famous 27 meter iniciatic well and the stories behind it. This will be a guided visit.
We will stop for a few minutes to admire the amazing views of this 19th century summer palace. You will learn about its famous owner and his exorbitant hobbies, while admiring the unique architecture behind it. If you want to visit the interior of palace, let us know with anticipation.
Embark on a beautiful drive where you will encounter the picturesque and hidden towns of Colares and Penedo until we reach the coastline and the amazing village of Azenhas do Mar. End the day with the most colorful and magnificent palace in Sintra: the Pena Palace. A national monument that constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. It is unique and it’s a classic example of the romanticism period in Portugal and in Europe. At the top you will have the best views toward Lisbon, Sintra, and Cascais. This will be a guided visit.
Admire this X century castle in the middle of the lush forest of Sintra. You will get to know about the North African Moors who build it and about the Christians who conquered it 4 centuries later. If want to visit in the inside let us know with anticipation.

We traveled to Sintra Palace with Picta Travel. Our three guides were fabulous! We had several people in our group who needed walkers and /or canes. Our guides went over and above to help these people. They were friendly, knowledgeable ,and informative. They were the best guide we ever had! The whole Tour day was wonderful!
From our pick up to the drop off back at our cruise ship Jorge was knowledgeable and informative. He was on time and a safe driver. He made sure we saw everything we expected to see. Sintra and Pena palace were amazing.
Perfect day.. Ines was knowledgeable , friendly and made us very comfortable.
We had the best day tour of Sintra with Ines. Ines was an amazing guide and had an incredible wealth of knowledge. She taught us all about the history of the region and also knew so much about the art and architecture. I would recommend Ines to anyone!
Jorge was amazing!! Highly recommend him for any tour.
Luis was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable, energetic and very attentive to our needs. We did so much during this tour, it was worth every penny spent!
Ask for Lourenço - great guide for our day in Sintra. He made it a special day for my wife and I. He helped us navigate what we otherwise would have blown multiple days figuring out. Highly recommend.
I cannot say enough about our experience with our tour of Sintra and the tour operator. Our private tour guide was Diogo who was just the nicest, most knowledgeable tour guide in Sintra. He was so patient, a lot of hills to climb, we took our time. It was my birthday and he treated my husband and I to an expresso & authentic pastry all while educating us with the food & culture. It was such a great day! I highly recommend this tour!
This tour was an amazing experience, made even better by our incredible tour guide Jessica. The tour to Sintra can be challenging for people that have somewhat limited mobility, but we were treated to a perfectly paced tour that allowed us the ability to access the beautiful palaces, sites and history of Sintra with beautiful narration by Jessica. The sites of Sintra and even the drive to and from Lisbon are well worth the effort and we were thankful for the opportunity to take it in. We definitely recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to have Jessica as your guide, you will have an exceptional experience.
We took this tour from our cruise ship. Gabriela was waiting for us outside the cruise terminal. Communication beforehand had been excellent and we knew exactly where we needed to be. This was a highlight of the cruise for us. Gabriela is so informative and kept us entertained about the places we visited with such detail we couldn’t have asked for more. She asked us where we wanted to go and gave us time to look at our own pace too. Lunch was at a lovely restaurant where a table was waiting for us. She made sure we had time to get the local Pastries - which were delicious. Highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to get Gabriela you are in for a fantastic day.
Our day started with Jorge picking us up at our hotel. We traveled comfortably in a BMW van for our group. We headed to Sintra and started in the square near the Queen’s palace learning about the architecture. We traveled through town to Quinta de Regelaira. There we explored the beautiful grounds learning all about how it was developed/ built. We enjoyed touring the home and learning of its history. We had a great lunch in tow on the way to the Pena palace. I really liked that Jorge walked us through and taught us about the beautiful gardens. We then toured the palace. Jorge was very informative and able to answer our questions. He made the day a gray experience!!
Lourenço was the best guide! We had such a wonderful day exploring Sintra with our family. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Sintra and the surrounding area, and he shared so many interesting stories and details throughout the day. He made the experience easy, fun, and even better than we could have imagined. We also had an incredible lunch by the water—the setting was beautiful, and the seafood was some of the best we’ve ever had. We would definitely recommend it. We had an unforgettable day with Lourenço and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Sintra!
Wonderful tour. Ines was an excellent guide, very informative and interesting. Undoubtedly one of the best tours we have taken. Would recommend this to anyone who visits Lisbon.
Most wonderful day! The beauty, the information, the ride, the guide… all perfect! I would highly recommend. The van with friends is much more comfortable that a bus. We loved Pedro! His vast knowledge and friendly disposition made him the perfect guide companion for our group!
Very friendly and nice tour guide! He was exceptional. One of the best we ever had. Good knowledge of local history, and culture. Great Trip.
Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing steep streets and walkways to view the gardens and palace. Amazing views and lush gardens. Our guide was helpful and allowed adequate time to shop in Sintra and enjoy some local fare .. pastries, enjoyable lunch, and port tasting.
Lourenço was our guide for the day and greeted us with umbrellas because of early rain showers. He has very good English and was quite knowledgeable of all the sights we visited. We viewed the outside of the National Palace and had pastries before heading to Quinta de Regaleira where we spent most of our time. We had paid ahead for skip-the-line tickets to it and Pena and were so grateful. (We sent Picta Tours the money and they booked our tickets.). Lourenço arranged lunch (not included) at a great local spot in Sintra and gave us free time to shop and explore. We then drove to Pena Palace, which was all uphill! We did not take the paid shuttle but chose to walk the final leg to save time (all couples are 65+) and it was very doable. Lourenço knew all the spots for photos and took some great ones. We met him at 8:30 at the cruise terminal and he had us back before 5 PM! Final boarding for the ship was 5:30 and he clearly had control of timing and left us to relax. He was great! This is an amazing tour and way to spend time while in Lisbon. I highly recommend!
Picta Travel that we were connected with thru Viator was incredible at communicating and responding to questions before our trip. Lourenço was our guide for the day. It started with some brief rain and he showed up with umbrellas, but we quickly ditched those. Sintra had cool temperatures most of the morning. We had pre-planned our day with Picta Travel and had chosen Sintra (seeing the Nat'l Palace (outside only), Quinta de Regaleira (inside, gardens, well, and chapel for the morning. Lourenço provided a great overview and history and got us where we needed with his recommended sights to see. He arranged lunch at a great local restaurant for our group (at our expense). He allowed 30 Minutes to shop afterwards because we wanted to. Afterwards, he drove us to Pena Palace and had already purchased the slip-the-line entry, allowing our group to enter quickly ahead of the crowds. Again, he stopped and shared stories and history about the Palace and took us to great photo places where he snapped photos of the 8 in our party and walked us thru the exterior, including the wall walk, which was great. Lourenço was the perfect blend of low stress and knowledge. We were on a cruise stop so he was very mindful of getting us back to the ship well ahead of time for departure. He was very friendly, approachable and in control. Highly recommend him as a guide.
We really enjoyed our tour today. Pickup from port was like a breeze. Our tour guide Matheus was great. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best tours I have ever done. Maya, who was our guide, was fantastic. Even before she picked us up at the cruise ship, we were texting like old friends. She was so knowledgeable, funny, and just a true joy to spend the day with. All of the admissions were arranged in advance and everything was planned out and well organized. Even with our ship letting us off an hour late, Maya was able to get everything in and nothing felt rushed. There was exactly the right amount of walking and down time while we got the history and backstory of the places we were visiting. Maya also adapted a lunch stop to got out needs. We would 100% use this company again! I travel a lot and this was one I will always remember.
Lourenceo was our guide for the day. He was excellent and took great care of us. Full of knowledge and very personable. Would recommend him to anyone coming looking for a private tour to Sintra. Also great communication and information leading up to the trip. Thanks for a great experience!
We had a wonderful tour with Lourenco. We had always wanted to visit Portugal, learn about its history, and see its beauty—and the tour did not disappoint. He was extremely knowledgeable, took us to the best spots, and even gave us great food and wine recommendations. He kept everything running smoothly, got us to every reservation on time, and truly took care of our family. We were able to relax, enjoy the day, and learn so much about Portugal. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend our tour guide Pedro. He was very attentive and took great care of our family with little kids. He was very knowledgeable of the history, of Sintra, and the culture. He was a delight to have and a very safe driver. We highly recommend PICTAtravel, and recommend that you request Pedro!
Gabriela made this tour one of the best we’ve ever taken. Her personality, and dedication to her craft are outstanding. The lunch arrangement was also beautiful right on the beach.
We had a great day touring the sintra region with our guide Francisco. Easy pick up and drop off at our apartment and the tour was a good mixture of history and sight seeing for our kids ages 8, 10 and 12. The lunch spot on the ocean was really great with local seafood.
Francisco was absolutely fantastic and the tour was incredible. He was very knowledgeable, very pleasant, knew how to make sure we were all comfortable and was very accommodating. The tour itself was great and exactly what we were looking for. We travel a lot and this is by far the best tour and tour guide we had. Would book again when we come back.
We had a great time on this private tour of Sintra and Pena Palace. Sintra was absolutely beautiful, and Francis helped make the experience even more enjoyable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, culture, and sites we visited, and he shared information in a way that was both interesting and easy to follow. He was also very patient with us as we stopped frequently to take photos! A couple things we really appreciated: - Francis was happy to help take photos and videos for us throughout the day, which allowed us to capture some great memories together. He never made us feel rushed and was very accommodating to our pace. - The tour had proactively bought us tickets to visit a palace that we wouldn't have known to buy ahead of time and thus wouldn't have been able to visit. Great planning ahead! Overall, this was a fantastic experience and a highlight of our time in Portugal. We would highly recommend both the tour and Francis to anyone visiting Lisbon.
We had a great tour to Sintra! Our guide John was excellent. He provided us with the history of Sintra, Peña Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. The tour was relaxed and never felt rushed. The restaurant recommended for lunch was terrific and had a view of the Atlantic! From the convenience of hotel pickup, to all the recommendations, our family loved the experience!
We had a lovely time on this Sintra tour. The guide was passionate and informative, and it felt like he genuinely cared about giving everyone a good experience. Sintra itself was stunning, and the day was well organized overall.
I really enjoyed this day trip to Sintra from Lisbon. My tour guide (Marta) was very personable and told me all about living in Portugal, different foods to try, languages, and other cultural differences from my country. She was very knowledgeable about the sites that we visited and took me to an extra viewpoint because we had a little extra time before our timed tickets began for the sites. The car was neat and clean, and she picked me up at my hotel. She would also drop me off near the entrance if she had to drive too far to park. Otherwise, she stayed with me to discuss things we were seeing. Highly recommend!
Was a wonderful FULL day with Lorenco! Car was comfortable and clean. He was full of interesting knowledge- just enough! Guided us through 2 amazing castles….a trip to the gorgeous beach and helped us order a delicious lunch like we were locals. Gave us the tips to explore cutest area of Sintra, pastries included. He had a nice sense of humor as well. It was a great day….
Our guide Ines was amazing!! She reached out to us the night before to get an idea of exactly what we wanted to do so she could plan accordingly. She was waiting for us at the Pier and made it easy to find her. From there we shared a beautiful day in Siintra, Pena Park and Cascais. Her knowledge of the history and points of interest was very insightful, and she knew how to navigate through the tightest tourist attractions and traffic with ease. She smiled and we smiled all day long. Book a tour today and request Ines!!!
Antonio Souza was the BEST tour guide! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. I highly recommend anyone coming to Lisbon to contact Antonio if you're looking for a fun, educated, and enjoyable day seeing the sights of the city. He's your man!
Our tour guide Maya was magnificent!! She was so knowledgeable and made our experience truly memorable. We went for my husbands 32nd birthday and wouldn’t trade this experience for anything!
We went on a tour in Lisbon, Portugal on April 27, 2026, with our guide, Joao (John). Not only did we learn fascinating history about Lisbon and visit some absolutely beautiful castles, but we were also fortunate to have such a kind and thoughtful guide. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and able to enjoy the experience. He truly did everything he could to make the day special. We genuinely loved every moment of the tour and highly recommend spending a day exploring Lisbon with him. Thank you, Again Linda & Leann
It was and excellent experience, Sintra is really beautiful and you definitely need a guide because there are a lot of important details, and you need an expert. Gabriela was a great guide, intelligent, interesting and funny. We enjoyed our visit and learned history, geography, music, food... all. We really recommend this tour.
Our family had a great time in Sintra with our guide Gabbie. She was very engaging and full of energy. She made sure that we were all ok . Has fun in our tour despite the weather. I highly recommend her.
Catarina was a great tour guide! She is very well informed and made the day great! Pena palace was my favorite part of the entire trip to Portugal. Walking the grounds of Pena Palace felt like you were in an enchanted forest. I would suggest getting the fast pass so you can see as much as possible
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our guide, Vicente, was extremely personable and knowledgeable. He made every step of the journey comfortable, enjoyable and informative. The day could not have gone smoother, and Vicente let us go at our own pace. We were extremely impressed with how much we learned. It was shocking to us that this private tour was so inexpensive and had so much value. We highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting an enjoyable, full, and educational experience.
Make sure you take a tour . Parking is far from easy. Prepare yourself for walking. Nothing should be missed. The views are fantastic. Take the bus up to the castle, do not underestimate the effort needed to go up the last hill and down again. Elderly (like me) please note.
Catarina was a wonderful tour guide! She was friendly and gave us wonderful information about each palace and their history. We throughly enjoyed our day!
Our family had a wonderful day seeing the sights of Sintra and Pena Palace with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide, John Fernandes. We had a delightful lunch at a beautiful seaside restaurant. Highly recommend this tour!
We had an amazing time touring Sintra and Pena Palace with Nuno. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully curated and personalized to our interests and pace. Nuno is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history, architecture, and culture of the region, but he also brings a warm, personable energy that made the day truly special. He kept the kids (10 and 6) engaged and comfortable. We loved the special touches he added throughout the day. We ate famous pastries in Sintra, had perfectly timed coffee breaks, and an unforgettable seaside lunch. We highly recommend Nuno to anyone looking for a guided experience that’s both enriching and enjoyable for the whole family.
We had a fantastic time in Sintra. Our guide, Catarina was outstanding telling us all about the history of the palaces and of Sintra and surrounding areas. The lunch spot was awesome with incredible views of the ocean.
Jimena was our private guide and she was wonderful . Awesome personality she was patient with my obsessive photography, She was super knowledgeable about all the sights and kind about a companions sore knee. Her bubbly personality was infectious. We highly recommend her for a wonderful experience in Portugal.🇵🇹♥️ Regards , Barbara Maker
The tour was great. Our guide Jimena contacted us before and have us an eta and arrived on time. She was friendly and great with our two young kids and also very knowledgeableproviding us with just the right amount of history and story throughout our tour. Definitely recommend.
Our guide was the best. Knowledgeable kind and accommodating. Highly recommend. She organized the day perfectly. I’m
We booked this tour as an excursion for our cruise. They were prompt to reply and help us plan what we wanted to see. Unfortunately, I broke my ankle on the cruise, and we had to reevaluate our plans for the day. Danilo called and said we could still do a day tour, but we would have to cancel our food walking tour. We said we'd take what we could get. Marta, our guide, was wonderful! She picked us up at the cruise port, and we discussed what I would be able to do/see. A lot of the palaces are not handicap accessible, so she recommended one that was. We also visited Quinta de Regaleira, and she even helped me in my wheelchair when my husband went to visit the Initiation Well. Marta was truly a godsend helping us make the most out of our last day in Portugal! We would definitely use them again!
Our guide was Filipa who did an excellent job of rearranging our tour to Sintra. Previous storm damage had closed the park of Pena Palace and very heavy rain on the morning of our tour made walking about difficult. Filipa helped the situation by dropping us off and picking us up at alternative locations. Apart from introducing us to wonderful local pastries we visited the Quinta da Regaleira - superb gardens with a Freemason's history. Lunch was taken at a lovely seaside restaurant that served ocean fresh fish. On the way back to the ship we stopped at Cabo da Roca to view the rugged cliffs at the most westerly point of Europe. Thank you Picta and particularly Filipa for making the best of a bad weather situation. We would certainly book again with Picta and Filipa whenever we return to Lisbon.
