Iain is a wonderful guide with vast knowledge of all areas of Portugal. He has taken us to several different areas of Portugal and in all cases he had interesting details, history and colorful insights into each destination. He is reliable and has a wonderful easy-going personality. Most importantly, he listens to your wishes and delivers on what you want to see and do. I highly recommend Iain.

UNESCO World Heritage, a cornerstone of Portuguese identity and an icon of a country historically moulded by its proximity to the ocean and its maritime discoveries of new worlds.Officially the Tower of Saint Vincent is a 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon that served as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers and as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon
Estoril is a town in the Municipality of Cascais, Portugal, on the Portuguese Riviera. It is famed as a major international luxury tourist entertainment destination, and is known for its luxury hotels, (including the Hotel Palacio made famous by 007) beaches, and the Casino Estoril. Famed for having been home to numerous royal families and famous personalities, the town is also known for hosting numerous notable events, such as the Estoril Open and the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival. Estoril is one of the most expensive places to live in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. It is home to a sizable foreign community and known for its luxury restaurants, hotels, and entertainment. Estoril and the surrounding area is consistently ranked for its high quality of living, making it one of the most livable places in Portugal.
As you walk along the Boardwalk from Estoril to Cascais you come across Praia do Tamariz. Located at the foot of the gardens leading up to Estoril Casino, it was once known as Elegant Beach and graced by the high society that then spent their summers on the Estoril coast. With soft golden sands, clean sea waters, the Praia de Tamariz is surrounded by bars and restaurants and close to Estoril. It is very popular with families.
Cascais rose to fame after the king of Portugal, King Luis I went for a swim here in 1870. Afterward, the Portuguese royal family made it their residence and traveled here every September. Other kings followed suit, with the likes of Umberto II of Italy, Juan Carlos of Spain, and Edward VIII of the UK making it their seaside resort of choice. Portugal’s most chic resort, Cascais is known for its three stunning bays and boasts delicious upscale restaurants, luxurious hotels, and non-pareil beaches. But it is the tranquil atmosphere of luxury and ease, along with its stunning seaside esplanade that makes it one of Europe’s most prized seaside destinations.
Located at latitude 38º 47´north and longitude 9º 30´west, Cabo da Roca is an important coordinate for those sailing along the coast, as it is the most westerly point of mainland Europe, a fact borne out by the certificates that visitors take away as a souvenir. Around 150 metres above the sea, here you can have a panoramic view over the Serra de Sintra and the coast, which makes it worth the visit. And even better when the sun us setting.
Praia das Maçãs (Apple beach) is one of the most popular beaches within striking distance of Lisbon. The name comes from the fact that once upon a time apples would fall off trees upstream of the (Ribeira de Colares) river that flows along the southern side of the beach. These would then wash up on the beach - hence the name. This is as close as you will get to an English seaside resort in Portugal!!
Azenhas do Mar is a seaside town. Azenhas do Mar means Watermills of the Sea and the name derives from a once-powerful stream that moved the watermills as it made its way to the sea. It is located just 30 km (19 mi) away from Lisboa, The place is Mediterranean-looking village with white houses tumbling down to the Atlantic. In the mid-20th century wealthy families from Lisbon and Sintra decided that the location was perfect for summer homes, which can be seen outside the main cluster of houses which originally were the homes of a fishing community.

Iain took us on a trip to Obidos, Foz de Arelho and Buddha Eden Gardens. Each stop was more beautiful than the one before. Iain is a great guide. Took the day at our pace and he was very informative. Answered any questions we had. Picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. Will definitely use Iain again without a doubt. You won't be disappointed with Iain Bendrey and Portugaltours4two.com
Iain drove us through some incredibly beautiful beaches and cliffs on the eastern coastal area. Since we are seniors, he always help us getting in and out of his convertible. Iain was very attentive to what we like to see. It was a very relaxing and well spent day
Stunning scenery and beautiful hidden gems of views, beaches and cafes. The weather was beautifully sunny and warm at the start of the day, even the low cloud at the top of the convent didn't put a stop the views, as the cloud cleared enough to see all around. It was a beautiful way to spend the day. Lovely coffee stop watching some mad surfers :) all finished off with a wonderful meal, wine and espresso martini cocktails.
There was no rush, no tight schedule. We had time to enjoy the day and if we wanted to stay longer at a certain place we could. Iain had some great tips about beaches, pubs and restaurants. And he took us to places other tours might not, which is exactly what we wanted.
What a fantastic tour. Door to door service, great itinerary and roof down drive along the coast was perfect. When we were ahead of schedule Iain adapted the tour so I saw more of this lovely area. Highly recommend.
Seeing the coast and lunch at the lovely restaurant Dom Quixote. We also enjoyed wandering the streets of Cascais. Liam is comfortable to be with.
This was an incredible tour of the coastal towns outside of Lisbon. It was truly special and something I never would have seen on my own. Driving with the top down and taking in the scenery was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Iain selected great spots to eat and drink at and took us to some of the most magnificent views I’ve ever seen. I truly loved this experience, and if you come to Lisbon, you should not miss it!
Iain's well-planned itinerary, local knowledge, and generous, helpful personality made our tour perfectly delightful! Riding top-down in his convertible on a sunny winter day was an added bonus, and the door-to-door service from our hotel made the excursion as easy as could be. Highly recommend!
Had a great day with Iain ! We visited Setubal, went for a wine tasting and had a fantastic lunch in Azeitao! Lots of great conversation and excellent suggestions for the rest of our holiday time. Highly recommend!
Great communication and was very patient because being first time visitors to Portugal, I could not make up my mind on what I wanted to do. Ian was very informative and took us to Obidos that wasn’t on my itinerary to see the beautiful town and have coffee..thank you for that! He let us explore at our leisure without rushing and answering any questions we had, and we had a lot. Thank you Ian for a great experience on getting to know Portugal!
Had an awesome day with Iain Bendry, and saw so much. The drive up the coast in the open top was amazing and lunch was in a secluded spots that had a fantastic view. He was very knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommend. Appreciated the great communication both in the USA and after arriving in Portugal.
Great Day seeing the coastal towns. Shopping in Obidos and stopping to see the magnificent beaches. Lain picked us up on time. Courteous and friendly. No rush, meandering and taking in all the sights. Thank you Lain.
Thoroughly enjoyable bespoke day trip from Cascais and out towards Cabo da Roca stopping at some stunning locations en route. Iain was very friendly, very informative and very accommodating with our young child. He is more than happy to drive young children so long as a child seat is provided.
Thank you for those who recommended Lain Bendrey from Portugaltours4two. Picked us up on time. Memorable ride and learned a lot about the neighboring towns of Lisbon. His coastal tour in Estoril/Cascais/Cabo do Roca and finishing at Azenhas do Mar was superlative. Such a wonderful 2nd day to spend in Portugal. Thank you Lain. We hope to see you next year.
Iain crafted a wonderful tour around our requested destination and objectives. We had a lovely day, saw some beautiful sights, and we learned so much about what it is like to live and enjoy these parts of Portugal. He is an excellent guide, he let us enjoy and take everything in at our pace, and we would certainly choose Iain again.
We throughly enjoyed our day trip up the coast with Iain. We are mobility challenged and were worried we would not be able to keep up with any group tours. Touring with Iain was the absolute perfect answer. He never hurried us or took us anywhere that would have required more walking than we were capable of doing. He even went back and collected the car several times so we didn’t have as far to walk. Very informative, personable, and a good driver. Highly recommend.
We had a fabulous day with Iain!! His communication was excellent and he came up with an itinerary that suited us, including a visit to the Queluz Palace, Cascais and Estoril with a walk along the boardwalk and stop for a coffee, Cabo da Rocha, Boca do Inferno and a stop for a delicious lunch, all while being driven around by Iain in his beautiful open top convertible. We are so glad we found Portugal Tours 4 Two and thank Iain for sharing the day with us and showing us sights we likely wouldn't have seen on our own, all at a more than reasonable cost. My go-to for tours is Airbnb Experiences, but they didn't have anything similar to what Portugal Tours 4 Two offers. I love Lisbon, but it was time to mix up my days a bit and head out of the city. I was picked up by Iain at my Airbnb in Lisbon. He drove me to Cascais, pointing out numerous locations on the way. We continued up the coast to Estoril, Guincho, Cabo da Roca and finished up at Praia da Cresmina. There were frequent stops to explore the different locations. I loved every single place! Finally, at Praia da Cresmina, I was able to see some stunning sand dunes and watch the sunset on a secluded beach. Iain packed a blanket, raspberries, and sparkling water (because I don't drink wine or any alcohol) for me to enjoy as I watched the sun go down. Throughout the afternoon and evening, Iain recommended SO MANY restaurants, activities, and gave me the most useful information. He even sent me links to restaurants he recommended via WhatsApp. I am so thankful that Portugal Tours 4 Two also accommodates solo travelers. Do not hesitate to book something- there are different tours depending on your interests!
Iain is a gracious driver/guide who is wonderful at designing the tour just for you--and in his beautiful car! Highly recommend!
Husband and I had nice long drive to several places along the coast for a sunset, we met up at Time Out Mkt at 5pm and were gone for 4 hours. We had a lovely time on the beach with a cooler of Pink Fizz, strawberries and blankets to sit at Azenhas do Mar. We stopped in Estoril and Boca da Inferno, as we had been to Cascais and Cabo da Roca the day before. Ian is a very good driver and gave us some info on the areas we were driving by and stopping at. Truly enjoyed this special experience.
Ian was great. Took us to amazing hidden beaches and places we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Great restaurant tips. Very knowledgeable and highly recommended. And don’t forget his snazzy car and wine to sip whilst on the beach. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and highlight of our trip.
Highly flexible and customizable, or Ian will take care of it all. Covers a variety of interesting locales, all different from Lisbon, to get a better appreciation of Portugal. Safe driver, convertible car is fun because weather is usually perfect !!!
Our day trip on the Lisbon Coast was great. We are sort of lazy tourists who want to see all the beautiful sights without all the queueing and walking! Ian took us loads of great places including Obidos, Mafra, Cabo de Roca and some amazing dunes and beaches. With a lunch pitstop and time for a cold drink in locations with amazing views, it was a most pleasant day. And to finish it off, Ian provided sparkling wine and strawberries while we caught an amazing sunset! I can highly recommend Portugal Tours 4 Two.
As a solo traveller, I was looking for the best affordable alternative to maximise my experience and visit places around Lisbon. Most of the tours I wanted do not accept solo travellers, so I found in Portugal Tours 4 Two exactly what I needed. I've contacted Iain and he helped me with a personalized itinerary, based of my preferences and his expertise and I couldn't be happier with the result. Spending a full day in his company was really pleasant and I've get to see so much in a relaxed tempo and a great company. I felt safe and taken care of all the time and I've enjoied every moment. The sunset and the meal at Don Quijote restaurant were amazing and watching the ocean and the stars with the roof down in the convertible was just magic. I highly recommend this tour for couples or solo travellers who want to experience memorable moments with a great guide and in a personalized maner. Thank you, Iain!
This tour is really amazing. Our happiness is the priority and we feel it. I recommend this tour for sure ! Our day was really beautiful, with great views, great moments. If you don’t book, you will regret it, it was my best one in Portugal for sure.
I had a wonderful three-hour tour with Iain through Cascais, the Sintra hills, Cabo da Roca, and finally relaxing at Praia da Maçãs with a bottle of pink champagne (from a basket packed by Iain) to watch the sunset - it was a beautiful evening! Iain was very knowledgeable of the area, answering my many random questions and offering great conservation for a solo traveller. I would recommend booking with Iain to see some of the most beautiful parts of the Sintra coast, or wherever you’d like (he was happy to adjust the tour based on my interests). His convertible was comfortable and perfectly suited for experiencing the vistas, and he was happy to pick me up and drop me off at my hotel. Excellent drive and excellent tour guide! You won’t regret it.
The coastal drive from Lisbon to Cascais was amazing! Iain picked us up at our hotel and was right on time. He offered us a little later pickup time which we appreciated. The drive was very scenic and Iain told us interesting things along the way. He wasn’t too talkative which allowed us to enjoy a peaceful drive. He gave us various options but not an overwhelming amount. He gave a few opportunities to go off on our own to sightsee or relax. I would recommend this tour!
We were looking for a more interesting way to get to Obidos from Lisbon than the public bus and stumbled on Iain’s tours. I sent an enquiry about doing a one way trip with our luggage and Iain quickly responded. We took a lovely trip along the coast enjoying Estoril, Cascais, Boca da inferno and Cabo da Roca. The restaurant recommended for lunch had lovely views and good food (with gluten free options). Overall we had a great day, and even the drive was interesting with the roof down!
My bestie and myself was visiting Lisbon for a week and contacted Iain through GetyourGuide for a private coastline trip in a convertible ( 2 words caught our eye, convertible and private). Little did we know that we will be meeting a fine English gentleman who not only made the coastal trip amazing , he basically helped us plan the rest of the stay in Lisbon. He’s more a travel companion and hopefully will always remain a friend and we just had 2 amazing tours with him. There was zero stress with the 2 trips we had with him, he’s always contactable and arranged the trip suiting our time and suited the trip according to our liking. This review does little justice to the amazing time we spend on the beaches and the lovely rides we had cross country and along the amazing Portugal coastline but my last words are that he’s highly recommended and you will have a fantastic time in and around Lisbon if you book his tours. Another important point to mention that his price point is very reasonable as the tours at the hotel were double the price.
We took Iain's "Big Sights Tour" and the sights were even bigger than he promised! As American expats living in Lisbon for almost 3 years, we thought we knew the area, but from the comfy seats of a lovely French convertible car we found the experience to be really remarkable. From the moment we were picked up in central Lisbon and whisked along the coast road, we knew we were in for a treat. We passed through beach town after beach town, just yards away from the gleaming blue waters of the Rio Tejo as it became the Atlantic Ocean. After passing through the famous resort town of Cascais, we stopped to check out the "Mouth of the Inferno," various wild chasms that the Atlantic waves have cut into the coastline. After that, the luxury villas and condos disappeared and we were in the truly wild coastline of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. The park is truly wild with little evidence of human activity. One of the highlights was stopping at the Cresmina Dunes proper sand dunes overlooking the windy Atlantic waves. The highlight of the day was lunch at a "secret" hilltop restaurant that, I think, is best kept secret from the tourist hordes (you'll have to take the tour to find out the name). Amazing food and views. Be sure to order the Brazilian cheese bread. One of the things that makes these "4 Two" tours special is that Iain seems to be able to customize them, sometimes on the fly. The subject of the Convento dos Capuchos came up in conversation, and Iain was able to fit in a visit just for us. We thought the price list was very fair for what is offered. For just a little more than a group tour in a large bus, we got to see twice as much and have photos and memories that will last for a lifetime. Renting a car would have cost more and we would have seen much less. On a practical note, Iain is an excellent driver and knows these roads like the back of his hand. The Renault convertible is comfy and fun. We felt in good hands the entire day.
If you are a couple, a solo traveler, or a small group of three, looking for a truly personal and private tour of the outskirts of Lisbon—Sintra, medieval and seaside towns, palaces, castles, and sunsets—taking a tour with Iain is the way to go. We visited Queluz Palace, Monserrate Palace, drove around Sintra, and stopped at several coastal towns, from Azenhas do Mar to Cabo da Roca and Cascais, plus a beautiful restaurant overlooking the ocean for late lunch, to reenergize after a busy morning. Iain will drive you around in his convertible that is clean and spacious enough. He is a very responsible driver. Iain can come up with a one-of-a-kind tour that caters to the specific places you want to visit and see. He is kind and respectful of your time and interests. He communicated with me even before I arrived in Lisbon and suggested various options we could do for the tour, making sure there were no glitches or surprises on the day of the tour. However, he was still flexible enough to make tweaks and changes if need be on the day of the tour. You never know if you want to linger longer, until you are at the place itself. Iain understood this and would make adjustments. Even days after the tour, Iain was a resource I could ask advice from, like places to have lunch or dinner in Sintra or Lisbon, or when we were deciding on other places to visit during our bigger group/van tours with other couples, even if these tours were not with him anymore. He truly cares, like a friend, that you have a good time in Portugal from the time you arrive, to the time you leave. Especially for couples and those who want to make their Portugal trip a more memorable even romantic experience, I recommend a tour with Iain at the helm. It’s the best way to go.
We had two amazing days with Iain; first up the coast and the second in Lisbon. He knows places that we'd never have found on our own; coffee overlooking the most beautiful dunes ecological reserve, lunch amongst the palm trees and cacti, cocktails on the beach. Lisbon included the hidden secrets of the British cemetery (a real gem with fascinating history, plus parakeets and the most amazing dragon tree!) a wander round the hotspots, tram rides and the best ice cream! Iain had thought of everything, including luxuries so it was the loveliest experience with zero stress. On top of all that we got to ride everywhere in style with the roof down! Really special weekend, we'll be back.
This trip was a highlight of our first trip to Portugal! After spending some time exploring the beautiful city of Lisbon, my spouse and I were ready to get out into open space. Iain’s tour fit the bill perfectly! After picking us up at a location convenient to our lodging, Iain treated us to a day of fun and sun. We walked on the boardwalk at Cascais and enjoyed seeing surfers and windsurfers as well as folks on stand up paddle boards and families enjoying themselves by the shore. We passed by the casino in Estoril where Ian Fleming was inspired to invent James Bond. Apparently, it is still customary for customers to order their martinis shaken, not stirred. We enjoyed lunch in a paradisiacal setting overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, eating tapas-style. And we wiggled our toes in the warm tan sand of a coastal nature preserve. Thanks, Iain, for a wonderful day!
Great price for a three hour adventure to visit many sites along the Atlantic coast near Lisbon, Sintra & Cascais. We enjoyed a private beach sunset, a stroll through protected sand dunes, views of the Cabo da Roca lighthouse, and gorgeous beaches, with Iain's knowledge of the area and clean, fun convertible. A great way to get to know this part of Portugal.
Despite being a grey day it was brilliant to be taken around so many hidden gems in this part of Portugal. Iain is an expert guide, with great knowledge and knows the best and most memorable places to eat and view! Great way to start a holiday with plenty of suggestions of places to go we will follow up on!
Me and my wife booked the day trip with Iain before arriving to Portugal. It was an amazing experience, Iain sent us the itinerary in advance. It wasn't rushed at all, we enjoyed every place and we found this trip very useful to plan our next days in Portugal. If it wasn't for him I'm sure we would have missed all these places during our holiday in Portugal. Iain is a great guide, very friendly and a great conversation starter. Looking forward to return and get another trip with him. Definitely a must-get trip if you get around Lisbon and you want to know where to start from.
We had a wonderful day driving around in open top car. Nice to sit in a car after previous days sightseeing and take some small walks by the water. Iain was very good answering our wide variety of questions.
