David of What to Do in Portugal was a perfect tour guide for this incredibly beautiful part of the world! 5 Stars in every category. He showed us so many beautiful area and his humor and historical knowledge was wonderful!

This is our second experience with David (third, if you count the tour we did with one of his colleagues!) and we can't say enough good things! From the moment you meet him you realize what a fun day you're about to have! He is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He catered the tour to our (large) group (14!) where we never felt rushed and always taken care of. Do not hesitate to book with David or his network!

I loved every minute of our tour with David and pedro . David was warm and welcoming we felt like we knew him forever. From sharing his vast knowledge of Portugal and all of its history. He went above and beyond for our large group, from taking us to more places then we had even planned to special treats of our first Custard 🍮 tarts. The driving and parking was a challenge we are greatful for the amazing driving skills. I highly recommend david best tour guide ever!!!

We spent several days touring in Lisbon, Óbidos, Nazaré, Porto and Aviero with David and his partner, Daniel. We were a group of 12 and we were not easy to please, nor were we easy to work with! We wanted to linger, not gather on time and some of us liked to wander away. David dealt with us with patience and helped us balance what we wanted to do with what we needed to do. He is very knowledgeable and communicated exceptionally well. He personifies the hospitality the Portuguese are famous for. His recommendations were spot on. The restaurants were authentic and we loved his tips for shopping and sightseeing. We are an older bunch and David, aware of our limitations, proactively planned on limiting how much hill climbing we would have to do. Kudos to him for his awareness and compassion. David’s vans have steady wifi which was enormously helpful to our “always connected” personalities and he provided water and appropriate USB cables to charge our phones. All-in-all our experience in Portugal was significantly enhanced because of David’s guidance. Don’t miss a chance to tour with him. You will not go wrong! We will definitely return to Portugal and seek his assistance again and we will recommend him and Daniel to our friends and family.

Over the course of 3 days and 9 cities, We couldn’t have had a better experience with David on our tours throughout Portugal. We just had a wonderful tour of Sintra, Cascais and some of Lisbon with David Monteiro, highly fun even though it poured rain during half of the trip, highly unusual here. David is a very experienced, knowledgeable guide and I spent a lot of time reading through various reviews before picking him. He's passionate and knowledgeable about his country and very experienced in giving tours. He was highly adaptable, which we needed since it rained and I didn't want to wait in any lines for castles. I wanted to get a feel for Sintra and Cascais and he was great at that. His car is very comfortable, he's a great driver, highly recommend him! We stopped at a great place for a very authentic and delicious Portuguese lunch, had the custard tarts at the factory next to monastery and were able to skip the humongous line. Very glad I put the time into finding him.

WOW! This excursion was fantastic, but mostly because of my guide David! As someone who has traveled to all 7 continents, I can honestly say that he is the best in the business! My small window of 2 days in Lisbon didn't allow much time. I was on a stopover en route to Cape Verde Islands, AND, it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! So the 1st item on the agenda, was to get me that Covid test so I could fly out later that night!! David picked me up at my hotel, drove me to the airport where TAP AIR was doing testing for passengers. (Lifesaver!) Got my test done and off we went! As my bum luck would have it, the weather was horrific; Cold, rainy, overcast, windy and pretty miserable. However, David made the day very delightful with interesting conversation and in sharing his broad knowledge of the historical sights. Even though the weather was poor, I found Quinta da Regaleira to be the most magical place ever!!! It is a must see. Later we went to the cliffs overlooking the sea and it was beautiful. I told him I would love seafood for lunch, and this restaurant he brought me to did NOT dissappoint!!! THE BEST OCTOPUS THAT I HAVE EVER HAD! And I have eaten a lot of them. Plus stunning views from our table. We walked around the little town in Sintra where he knew some prople that gave me a bunch of different tasty liqueurs to drink! I felt warm and fuzzy after that! As a solo traveler, it is important that I feel comfortable and safe when I do tours. Everything about the day was wonderful, and I can't reccomend this tour, and David enough!! Thank you David! See you in a few months when I come back for Algarve!

Leading up to our recent trip to Portugal we were lucky enough to stumble upon David from ‘What to do in Portugal’. From Australia I worked with David (over email and WhatsApp) to customise two day-trips for our first visit to Portugal. His knowledge and communication were second to none; I’d go as far to say exceptional… And the trips didn’t disappoint either! Both days we were driven and guided by Pedro, who was early, courteous, suggested great options and took everything we asked him or requested to do, into account when designing a day that was perfect for us. I really couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience. Having limited time in Lisbon, we hadn’t been planning to go to Sintra but changed from a 1/2-day city tour to this one on David’s recommendation. This was a true highlight. We were staying in Belem (another must visit!) and seeing these locations and Lisbon made for a perfect day-trip. It would be a fabulous Shore Excursion. Whist the weather wasn’t great for our visit, it did little to dampen our experience and I really couldn’t recommend this trip more highly.

David drove us all over Sintra pointing out the history, geography and culture. He was completely flexible and extremely knowledgeable. When one of the palaces was completely packed with other tourists, we skipped it to see other things. We mentioned that Portugal had a newly approved UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Mafra Palace; he replied “no one ever asked me that before,” and off we went. Fantastic day, definitely recommend.

David was kind and flexible from the start of our day. One of the benefits of booking a private tour is that you are not bound by anyone else's schedule. We even got to stop at the flea market in Alfama as it was a Saturday! If doing it again, I would research the palace and Moorish castle as we did not take the time to tour those and wish we had invested in seeing those site from more than a distance. The town of Sintra is charming and we never would have taken in the amazing view of Cabo da Roca without David. Thanks for a very special day!

As part of our Europe cruise we stopped in Lisbon for a day. I organized this shire excursion with David and had lots of questions. David was amazing in answering every question and concern I had by WhatsApp within minutes. The tour itself was done by Michelle and it was perfect in any way. Michelle speaks perfect English and showed us some beautiful places, considering what we wanted to see. At the end of the tour I realized that we didn’t even scratch the surface of all the beautiful places in Lisbon and surrounding areas. We will definitely be back to Portugal and have David and Michelle create the itinerary.

It was raining the day we visited Lisbon but that did not spoil our day. David made sure we saw all the sites and enjoyed the local culture. One of our friends was sick and couldn’t join us and he missed a great day. We would highly recommend David on any of your visits to Portugal. We were very fortunate to have both David and Michelle as our guides. We were picked up punctually for our tour and from the the start, we knew it was going to be a great day ahead. Both David and Michelle took time to get to know us and our likes and dislikes and planned our itinerary accordingly. They made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed ourselves throughout the tour. They are the most passionate guides we have come across, explaining the historical information to us peppered with interesting facts and all done with great humour - not to mention the wonderful local meals (especially the pastries!). In fact, we got along so well that it felt more like a road trip with friends! Thank you for the wonderful memories and showing us your beautiful country. I can safely say that I will not have enjoyed Lisbon as much if not for the 2 of you. So so glad we found you! This was the perfect tour to begin our 3 day stay in Lisbon. We were picked up on time and in comfort from our cruise by David and Michelle who put together the perfect itinerary to experience Sintra and Lisbon in one very full day. They went over and above and exceeded all expectations. I could go on and on about the individual sights but the biggest take away here is that David and Michelle are two very knowledgeable and confident individuals who will give you correct historical information and will personalize every moment of the tour to your needs and interests. We feel like we’ve made friends and will use them again and again.

Michelle was a very amazing woman . We found her waiting for us just outside the port.And immediately we started the tour. We did all the planned itinerary . Very informative. We visited alot of amazing places. Highly recommand this pleasant tour. We didn't waste a minute and were at port just on time.

We arrived early morning on a cruise ship and David picked us up bright and early. We spent almost 9 hours touring and seeing the Lisbon and Sintra areas. What a wonderful day! David suggested many places to go and also encouraged us to let him know where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. He adjusted the tour to meet our requests. We travel quite extensively and do a lot of tours, and honestly this one is one of the best, if not THE best. David and Michelle are very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We felt like meeting up with old friends and had them show us their city. The highlight of the trip was having lunch at a local restaurant which my husband enjoyed it a lot.
