Wonderful food and wonderful guide! Filipe was very knowledgeable and kind and allowed us to try so many new foods!
Absolutely amazing tour!!! Filipa was warm, knowledgeable, and clearly knew all the best spots. Food was super good and I so enjoyed learning about the history of Lisbon. Probably the best city tour I’ve ever done, and I’ve traveled a lot. If you come to Lisbon, absolutely work with her!
I highly recommend this tour! Filipa was an excellent guide! The walking tour was a great introduction to Lisbon and way to learn about this city’s rich history and culture through food and wine. The private tour was very personal and gave us one on one attention with Filipa. She was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She showed us many hidden gems that we would have never found on our own. She even walked us back to our hotel at the conclusion of our 5 hours with her!
Filipa was fantastic! Warm. so knowledgeable and flexible with people's tastes and needs. She made the trip unforgettable!
Filipa met us at our hotel in a Tuk Tuk for the tour. We had an amazing food tasting tour. Filipa was an excellent hostess and exposed us to different cuisines , cherry brandy and Manuel was our Tuk Tuk driver who spoke excellent english. I truly recommend this tour
Our friend group took a day tour with Filipa to experience the vibrant food scene in Lisbon. Filipa is expert at the food and drink of Lisbon and also all of Portugal, so as expected the food and drink was exceptional! What made this tour even MORE exceptional is Filipa's additional expertise with the history of the country. Throughout our day, she blended the tour with important facts about Portugal's past and future outlook. We always find our best food tours not only leave us with a sense of the country's gastronomy but also leave us with better cultural awareness. It's my pleasure to share that this tour was one of our best. If you get the chance to book some time with Filipa, take it!
Filipa is a delightful tour guide in Lisbon. She clearly loves her city and enjoys sharing it with guests. She interspersed Portugal's history with the food tour, making everything that much more meaningful. We roamed the city, tasting Pastel de nata, sardines, cheese, port, green wine, ginjinha, among other traditional flavors. Filipa is open and energetic. It was fun to spend the day with her.
Wow, what a wonderful day! We worked with Filipa on a private 5-hour food focused walking tour of Lisbon and it was truly a 5-star experience! Filipa’s knowledge of and passion for the culture, the history and the food and beverages (coffee, port, wine and ginginha) of Lisbon is second to none. She worked with us to personalize the tour and was very in-tuned to what we wanted to taste and see. We never felt rushed and stayed longer where we wanted and moved on when we were ready and as a result we were together for well over the 5-hours we booked. The “tour” was more like spending the day with a relative or friend as it seamlessly flowed from food to history to culture to food again. We stayed off the typical tourist track and what we saw, where we tasted and dined left a lastly impression and created life long memories of our time in Lisbon. We can’t wait to go back and when we do we’ll definitely reach out to Filipa again. We Highly recommend that you connect with Filipa the value for the money was unbelievable!
We had an excellent time with our host, Filipa. She was so knowledgeable and fun. This a must do when in Lisbon.
Filipa was amazing! We covered so much ground. It was great to go through the neighborhoods with her. She gave so much context and history as we tasted and walked through Lisbon. I highly recommend this tour. There was so much food provided. This tour is definitely worth it! I am so glad we selected this tour.
We had an absolutely fantastic food tour with Philipa! She was warm, well prepared, highly informative and presented an array of delicious and delightful tastings of authentic Portuguese dishes and beverages. We had so many tastings that by the end we were completely satiated but also we felt like we had so much fun and learned so much. Philipa was a terrific guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her and felt like she went well beyond our expectations in providing and super food tour in Lisbon!!
Our private food tour with Filipa was one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon. She is super knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culinary traditions of her country. We happened to book the tour on her birthday and she made us feel like celebrating! Thank you Filipa!
Filipa was great - she was thorough and in detail and was able to cater to a vegetarian experience. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely afternoon with our guide, Filipa. She took us to several small, wonderful, family- owned businesses. Each was representative of cultural foods and drinks from the area. The weather was perfect! A great day was had by all! Filipa was a fantastic guide!
Would highly recommend this fantastic walking tour of central Lisbon looking at history and culture of the country through food. We met Ricardo at a central train station who then took us to one of the oldest patisseries where we enjoyed paste del nata, fish cakes and a coconut sponge so incredibly light. Then off to the city’s oldest Ginjinha to try the fierce cherry drink and check out one of the oldest grocers in town with its amazing display of salted cod - time for cheese and port (delicious!) We began a slow climb up to the castle area passing by amazing street art where we were joined by the gorgeous Filipa who took us to a thriving new business specialising in tinned food. Not my usual thing but it was surprisingly good. Both our hosts were very informative and great company showing us their city with such pride. If you’re going to Lisbon please do this!
Excellent private food tour. Felipa was amazing. She was knowledgeable, friendly and our stops were great. We had the most delicious traditional pastries, charcuterie and port wines. The surprise stop as miss can was incredible as well. We tried the spicy sardines, cod in olive oil, cavala in mustard sauce and bread. Delicious! I love the fact that the food tour included the history of downtown. I highly recommend it especially if Felipa is your guide.
Filipa gave us a fantastic introduction to Lisbon. Her private food tour, which included centuries of history, decades of politics and many aspects of Portuguese culture as well as food and drink, was the perfect beginning for our two week visit to the country. If you can book a tour with Filipa on your first day in Lisbon, it's an ideal way to get oriented. Filipa is knowledgable, warm, lively and easygoing -- in short, she's great company. We walked through multiple neighborhoods at a relaxed pace. We covered a lot of ground, got a great feel for the city and ate generous portions of delicious food and drank our fill of Portuguese wine. The experience was personal and Filipa made sure it truly revolved around our interests. We learned a ton and we got great advice from Filipa about what to do in Lisbon as well as in other parts of the country we planned to visit. She was a terrific resource. Filipa was also extremely generous with her time before we arrived -- so much so that when she came to meet my husband, our daughter and me I felt like I was greeting an old friend. On our next visit to Portugal, we will make sure to plan time to do other tours with Filipa.
Filipa was so knowledgable about Portuguese history and culture and shared so much with us. She was enthusiastic and fun and we learned so much. We also ate delicious Portuguese food of many types from many small local proprietors. Completely fun, interesting and delicious day!
Our guide Filipa was delightful. The tour was well thought out with great food and drink selections with an added bonus of Lisbon and Portugal history.
What a delightful young woman Filipa is! So enthusiastic and knowledgeable about both food and culture in Lisbon and Portugal! We traversed several sections of the city reasonably and enjoyed foods we wouldn’t have tried on our own, particularly canned fish and seafood. So yummy we bought some to take home! We also were able to stop by a couple pottery galleries and appreciated being able to detour slightly to do so. Thank you Filipa! We will recommend your company to others!
The cheese shop was a great stop with port tastings. Filipa's knowledge of history really added to the experience
Filipa was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history and food of Lisbon. The tour provides a good overview of the traditional food of Lisbon and how it relates to the history of the city.
Filipa is extremely nice. You can tell she has a knowledge of the history of the city and shares that throughout the trip. It was perhaps less meaningful to us as it was our last day and had learned much of it already. The food experience was a little different than I had anticipated. I thought it would be more tastings and stopping in at little shops, but you go sit down and order at 3 restaurants. We chose this experience in place of a cooking class and felt disappointed in the food aspect. As I said, Filipa was very nice and knowledgable. I think if you go into this experience with a perspective that it is an introduction/overview of the city through the lens of food and its history in Portugal rather than a heavy food experience, then I think you will be very happy with this experience. For us, it just was not what we were particularly looking for and so we came away disappointed.
Filipa and Ricardo were great guides. They went over and above what was required. We recommend and would go with them again in a second! Thank you again for being great guides!
The tour was excellent and our guide was amazing. Felipa the guide was lovely and extremely informative.
On our first day of arriving in Lisbon, we made a great decision to join Filipa’s food tour. It turned out to be much more than just eating and drinking. We had learned so much about history, culture and even local tips on getting around (if you want to skip uphill walks, she’ll take you on her sure win path 🤭). We loved the tradition and local food and drinks she brought us to sample (and there were plenty)! We visited different neighborhoods and viewpoints and took lots of pictures. Even after the tour Filipa was very helpful during our stay when we messaged her for questions. Thanks so much for taking us Filipa, we really enjoyed your company.
Ricardo was a wonderful guide. The tour lastet longer than expected, it was very informative and the food was excellent.
My husband and I had a great time. Filipa was fantastic. She took us to some of the greatest food spots and historical locations. She was very knowledgeable about Lisbon and The history of Portugal. I would highly recommend this tour.
Filipa is a delightful guide. Her knowledge of the history and culture of Portugal is vast . She has a store of charming anecdotes and her enthusiasm is contagious. As a wonderful surprise, her partner and husband joined our little group and contributed another layer of stories and knowledge to our experience.
It was a pleasure seeing the city and tasting Portuguese classics alongside Ricardo! We tasted pastel de nata, tawny and ruby port, cheeses, and of course, cod. He was extremely knowledgeable about not only the food but also the history of the various neighborhoods in Lisbon. He answered questions on architecture and politics and has traveled extensively. If you want to spend the afternoon exploring the city of Lisbon, spend it with Ricardo! He is a wonderful host.
Filipa took us on an amazing journey through the history of Lisbon through its culinary traditions and trends. We learned not just about the food, but also about the history of the neighborhoods. She arranged great tastings with ample portions of food and wine. Thanks Filipa for an amazing time.
It was all excellent. We learned a lot of history along with wonderful food. Lots of food. Don't eat beforehand. Fantastic tour.
Filipa took us all over Lisbon giving us the history of Lisbon through it's food and wine. She knows the best places old and new to try Lisbon specialties.
This excursion was not just a food tour, rather a Gourmet food tour, a history tour, a city tour and a contemporary Lisbon tour! Flippa was so good…..personable, knowledgeable and enjoyable to be with. We went to places you would never go without local knowledge. We ate Portuguese foods you would order on your own and I really enjoyed being able to ask about current life in Portugal and get a sense of the current situation in Lisbon. Take this tour…….100% recommended!
Ricardo was a wonderful guide and exposed us to aspects of Lisbon we had not previously experienced.
Had an amazing time. Phillipa was an amazing guide and had a really fun day. The food we had was really tasty and learnt lots of interesting things about Lisbon. Would recommend!
This was a riveting, historical gastronomical 4 hour journey. Mind blowing. Filipa tailored a tour that was interesting, thought provoking and culturally rich. Her delivery was warm, authentic and personal. She delivered a pace that was right for us with lots of breaks in fascinating little hidden gems of the city. We would highly recommend both this tour and Filipa.
She was a wonderful tour guide and it was the best way to learn and explore Lisbon!! Amazing experience!!
Wonderful tour intertwining Portuguese history and its food and wine. Great guide and great experience!
Filipa treated my family to a wonderful adventure. I've taken a few food tours but this was more like exploring a new city with a local friend. We explored several areas of Lisbon and got treated to some excellent food and wines (and we got plenty of both). I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to explore some off the path areas of the city and try some great examples of local cuisine.
Ricardo was a brilliant ambassador for his beloved Lisboa. As we only had a day in the city, this was the perfect tour to get a crash course. Ricardo had curated each stop, and we learned a thorough history of Portugal, using the love of food as the conversation starter. You’ll taste all the wines, sample the important cheeses and pastries, and have small lunch portions of traditional Portuguese fish and seafood and canned fish. My only advice: don’t eat breakfast. Save your appetite to fully desire all that the city has to offer. Along the way, you’ll see all the important sites along with breathtaking views of the river and port, all the while learning the history from the Romans to the Visigoths up through the era of exploration, The Enlightenment, the monarchy, the dictatorship all the way through to Portugal’s participation in the EU. It was supposed to be two hours, but he generously spent more than four hours with us. Highly recommended.
Very pleasant walk with our guide Filipa. Filipa knows a lot about history, culture and food. And knows how to combine them nicely. The stops for the tasting were fantastic, tasted really delicious things and you get to places you might not have gone on your own. Because it is a private tour, there is also plenty of attention for our personal wishes and interests. Filipa gives much more than expected.
A carefully-curated tour with a focus on rootedness by a knowledgeable local with an interest in maintaining and encouraging the traditions she shares with the visitor like an intimate secret among old friends. Recommend without reservation.
We loved the tour. Lots of food. Had sweets, coffee, meats and cheeses, wine port, can fish was not sure we would enjoyed it. The can fish was a present surprise. Our guide Filipa was lovely, she knows so much about the city. Request her.
If you are looking for a different way to explore Lisboa while tasting different gastronomic local peculiarities at your own rhythm, I would recommend this tour. Filipa provides an excellent and enthusiastic guide, glad to share the important portuguese history and monument descriptions. My wife and I really enjoyed this tour.
This is an amazing food tour for everyone who wants to experience Lisbon by foot and stop at some of the coolest local food joints. What I loved the most about this tour is that, personally, I never would have walked in to any of these 4 stops. First stop: Confeitaria Nacional (one of the oldest family restaurants in Portugal) , which originally opened in 1829. We tried 3 pastries, including their most famous custard tard, and the cod fish fried pastry. Second stop: Bacalhoaria Silva - a wine and cheese store. Never would I have imagined they offer cheese board + wine pairings. Cheese and wine were both amazing. Third stop - right next to the cheese store there's the A Ginjinha - the first store in Portugal to sell the famous sour cherry brandy. We had some shots here. Forth stop - forgot the name of the place but they offer canned fish. We tried the spicy sardines, regular sardines and squid. All were delicious. This made for a super unique experience and I certainly would do it again next time I'm in Lisbon. The whole thing lasted around 3 hours. All food is included in the price for this tour. We also walked quite a bit which may be challenging for someone people. It didn't require a lot of effort but you do spend probably around one hour walking around town.
Philippa’s tour was all around amazing!!! We met her right on time and went first to several historic family owned eateries downtown. We then explored less traveled parts of the city and had amazing food and drink there as well. She was incredibly knowledgeable about Portugal and world history and answered every question we posed!!! The quantities of food and drink were more than enough and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!!!
We went through nice, small restaurants in the centre of Lisbon and then up the hill, towards the castle, to visit other restaurants. The food included meat, seafood, and desserts - so much that I had to take a bag back to the hotel. She was very knowledgable and had planned the tour well. We also discussed some of Lisbon's history, politics, and the Ukraine war. It was much fun and, as it was my first day in Lisbon, I learned what to look for in restaurants.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to a collection of spots that were diverse and interesting and really showed Lisbon to good advantage. She was very personable
