Really nice to try our hands at actually making the famous Portuguese snack. Very knowledgeable teacher with passion for her lessons.
What a fun afternoon! This was fun and very unique from the normal tourist activities! I recommend!!
We had a great afternoon learning all about pastel de nata and were impressed with how well they turned out! There were 4 other people in the workshop which was a perfect group size, everyone was able to do something and everything was explained very well!
Was a fun and unique thing to do with my 13 year old son. Was a very small group (one other family with a daughter same age as my son). The pastry turned out delicious and was great for both the adults and teens in the group. We recieved the recipe after. I haven't had time to try making it at home.
We spent an afternoon learning how to make pastel de nata as well as learning about the history of portugese pastries. This was an absolutely wonderful experience from the setting, the expert baker and hands on instructions to tasting the delicious treats. It was so professionally done in a fun and relaxing way. Highly recommended. We attended as a family of four with adult kids (almost).
Filipe was so much fun and an excellent, patient teacher. We had such a great time, got to know each other a bit, and vowed we woujd practice this new skill at home. Our results were delicious! Great way to learn more about Portuguese culture!
Good instruction. Great product. Have a real appreciation of the difficulty to make a true pasteis de Nata.
We did this as a family and it was a great time. The shop is beautiful and the owner/instructor was a lot of fun and extremely knowledgeable.
We did this class with two kids (11 and 14 years) and Filipa was very patient and wonderful with them. All four of us had such a fun time, and we were so impressed at how well the pastries came out! They were delicious and we will definitely be making them at home. We ate them all with a glass of Port wine and all was right with the world.
Fantastic class!! Learned so much and can’t wait to get home and make my own pastries. Two thumbs up!
Great experience for all pastry enthusiasts. The class is both funny and tasty. Under the guidance of the expert pastry chef, we learned how to make pasteis de nata, and travesseiros de Sintra from scratch.
What a way to spend WorldBaking Day This was a group of 6 We covered the history of the baking and the shop and the wonderful chef . The cultural awareness around the importance of the Portuguese heritage in their food especially these sweet treats was brilliant. How to share a skill and enhance the knowledge of others . A true cultural ambassador 💕
We spent a lovely afternoon in the bakery learning how to make pastel de nata from scratch from our amazing host and had the best time doing it! The workshop was hands on and everyone was involved in the baking process which made the resulting pastries that much more satisfying to eat at the end! 10/10 recommend this experience
A really great experience! The class was so much fun, the owner is a wonderful instructor. Great conversation and delicious desserts.
I took my two teenagers to this class, they absolutely loved it. It was so much fun! The workshop was hands-on. We all got a chance to work with the ingredients. It was really well explained. We got some port wine at the end with our freshly made Pasteis de nata.
We were taught to made 2 pastries from Maria. You can tell she loves what she does. She gave us a hands on lesson of how to make the flakey dough and the deliciously sweet fillings. I can honestly say my favorite Pastel de Nata that I had in all of Portugal were the ones we made in this class. I definitely recommend this class and can't wait to make these for my family for the holidays.
Having previously visited Lisbon we wanted to do something beyond usual site seeing and booked this workshop for the family with Filipa. Fantastic experience for a couple of hours, where Filipa is a skilful, patient and excellent host and teacher. Its all very hands on and learn all the skills to give this another try when you get home. We really enjoyed the experience and would strongly recommend to others.
We booked this baking class with a couple friends that were traveling with us- thought it would be a fun cultural experience and it was great. Fillipe is a great instructor. She patiently walked us through the steps of making 2 pastries. Afterwards we all enjoyed what we made with delicious coffee. A great experience. Highly recommend
Maria was a fabulous hostess! We made two traditional Portuguese pastries in her shop, which turned out delicious, and had a great time!
The owner of the bakery was extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. We learned new skills and received recipes to make the pastries at home. Highly recommend.
The class was held in an adorable shop. Immediately, our host welcomed us warmly. She did an excellent job modeling and guiding us to make the two kinds of pastries. With just 4 in the class, we would provided very personalized instruction and support. Success!! The pastries were the best of our travels AND we are excited to try making at home. Thank you 😊
This pastry making class was absolutely amazing!! 10/10 would highly recommend, the baker was amazing and the pastries were delicious. We made all our own pastries; it was a great experience. She told us a bit about the history of the pastries, too, which was super cool. Definitely check this out!!
Maria is a superb human! She is accommodating and genuinely wants you to learn the right way. Super fun and delicious!
We loved this workshop with Filipa! It was so much fun and definitely a must if you're in Lisbon. We happened to have a small class with just the two of us and Filipa, so we got to participate in most of the process of making the pastéis de nata and the Sintra pillows. Boy, it's quite a bit of work that goes into making these pastries but Filipa made it all seem easy...and the results were sooo delicious. One of the best pastel de nata that we had on our trip...freshly baked right out of the oven. The workshop takes place in the shop and there's so much goodies to try there too!
Really fun workshop and easy to get to in central Lisbon - make pastries in an 18th C building! We made two types and learned a lot about how Portuguese techniques differ from French ones. The pastries were delicious, too. Small group of four so it felt personal. A highlight of our trip for sure!
Filipa was amazing and the tastes sensational and we learned two types. Can’t wait to practice what I learned 😊..
She was so nice and it was really enjoyable. I was the only one doing the workshop so I got to get the full experience and after we enjoyed the pastries that we had made. I got to bring the rest home to eat. Would really recommend anyone to do it as it is an unique way of experiencing Lisbon.
This is a must do activity whilst in Lisbon, Maria and Filipa were excellent teachers but alas my wife and I were not great students, nevertheless with their expert guidance we managed to produce lovely delicious pastries. There was plenty of hands on participation, but more importantly fun and laughter, a really enjoyable evening which I totally recommend.
Had a wonderful 2 hours at this workshop. The two hosts/teachers were charming, patient and so informative. The two things we made (pasteis de nata, a pudding with port wine) were both very delicious. I highly recommend doing this if you have some time one afternoon.
Small group, good explanation and lots of time for tasting and questions. The chefs are really crazy about pasta del nata. The place is cool!
This pastry class was AMAZING! We learned from Maria and Filipa, both of whom were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and funny. The class was the perfect amount of participation by students and demonstration by the professionals. They took us through step-by-step instructions for two famous Portuguese pastries, and allowed us to take notes to recreate at home. We enjoyed every minute of this class, and will recommend to anyone visiting Lisbon. 5 stars!!
We made Netas and Portuguese pillows. The pastry chef was very patient and instructive. We made amazing pastry and had a great time. We laughed a lot. We loved it. If you are in Lisbon, this is a must do activity!
Such a fun class. I was expecting more hands on, but the class would have taken 8 hours. We laughed, oh did we laugh. The class had only 4 people so we got to take part in the easier baking tasks. We made 2 different pastries and they were both DELICIOUS. Rute was an amazing instructor and obviously has years of experience. You really appreciate what goes into these yummy treats. They may have been tastier because of the personal love that went into them. My friend is going to Portugal in a few weeks and I will be sure to make sure this class is on her itinerary.
This was an excellent class, and we enjoyed seeing the intricate steps to produce a pastel de nata, as well as the pillows of Sintra. Ours turned out great and we certainly would have had a tougher time trying to make them once we returned home without the class. Very enjoyable evening!
Maria and Ana-Sofia are a wonderful duo who warmly welcome their guests and aspirant pastry chefs into their quaint little shop where the magic begins. Teaching us step by step to make traditional Portuguese confection, you will leave, as we did, having laughed, learned and indulged with the best in the business.thank you for a wonderful time.
The chef and presenter were great ! Enjoyed the presentation and the atmosphere! The pastries were delicious! A great way to spend two hours in lovely Lisbon !
We made pastel de nata and one other pastry, both were delicious. Chef was very entertaining and played guitar for us. Staff was very knowledgeable about history of the pastries and clearly passionate. It was a very enjoyable way to spend an evening.
The chef, the interpreters, and the facilitator were excellent! Everyone had a great time! WE made two different kinds of pastries, one the famous pastel do nata and another from the Sintra area.
The class was fantastic. It was more of a collaborative demo, than a cooking class. We took turns helping out the chef on one station, and collectively created one batch of each dessert. However, I think this is what worked best considering it's a small space and was the perfect amount of time. Longer than 2 hours would've been long for new bakers, but even experienced bakers picked up a few new tricks. Both the chef and our host were fantastic, cheerful, and taught us many little tricks and techniques. We made 2 different pastries, utilizing the same ingredients for the filling and for the puff pastry. However, with just a few changes, we ended up with significantly different desserts! It was amazing seeing how different the puff pastry changed with just 2 extra laminations, or how the filling changed based on a different techniques mixing and controlling temperature. I'll definitely be trying these techniques at home!
Chance to learn to make Lisbon’s pastry! Small class, hands on with Chef and Sofia and Maria. English spoken. Very organized and yummy
We had a great time in this class. The chef was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. We were a small group of 4. Everyone participated and enjoyed getting to know each other and the art of making Portuguese pastry. One of the highlights of our trip. We also enjoyed exploring the area after the class. It was easy to find with only a brief walk from the metro.
It was great to lean a new technique to pastry making we learn a lot to take bake to the state to try out on family and friends
This was my first time in Lisbon and I wanted to experience the real Portuguese culture so I picked this pastry workshop. This was the best thing I could pick! The chef was so amazing, he shared with us (small group of 4) all the secrets, he showed us how to prepare traditional pastry, we all tried to make ourselves. He speaks Portuguese, but we had amazing girl helper who translated all to english! At the end, we ate what we have prepared, chef was singing so beautifully and it was just amazing time! Plus we got a goody bag for home 😁 They prepared for us all the ingredients and recipes and even though today was a holiday day in Lisbon, they did arrange the workshop, and I feel like this was super private lesson! All in all, I highly recommend to spend time and simply enjoy this pastry workshop. Thank you guys for making stay here so amazing! And thank you for teaching me how to make everyone back at home such amazing sweets! Highly recommend, you will simply love it!
I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the time doing this class with the short amount of time we had in Lisbon, but it was so worth it! It was very intimate, with just me and my mom. The chef and shop owner we very patient and helpful, giving step by step instructions and tips and tricks for the perfect pastries. Our translator (English) did an amazing job. We felt comfortable the whole time, were able to participate and ask questions whenever we needed to. At the end, we enjoyed our desserts (I can't believe I made this stuff!) with the chefs while he sang to us on his guitar! What a delightful afternoon. Perfection.
This was a perfect way to spend 2 hours in Lisbon and also learn a great deal about Portuguese Pastries in a short time...great fun and great value for money...very highly recommended
This is a must . We had a private class making pastais de nota and other pastries. Incredibly affordable and fun.
We had a great time learning how to make the famous Portuguese custard tarts - Pastel de nata as well as the egg top cakes. Informative, fun and definitely tasty :) Thanks for a great morning!!!
What brilliant workshop! The staff were so friendly and welcoming! Chef was extremely knowledgeable and guided us every step of the way. The young lady who helped translate for chef was very impressive, apologies we didn't catch your name! The staff were so keen to share local knowledge of where to go, what to see etc! The treats we made were delicious and I'll be sure to make these when I get home. Thanks for making our trip special.
We had a lot of fun with Filipa, who has engaged us and warmly accompanied us through the afternoon. The crowning glory was to enjoy the homemade pastel de natas with a glass of port. The recipe was sent to us... but we prefer to bake in Lisbon😉
