Obidos Medieval Village World Heritage Private Tour

Fabio was a great guide in our stops of Batalha, Nazare, and Obidos. He was knowledgeable and allowed for time to wander and get a sense for each place. It was a day well spent.

Fabio was awesome, we had a late flight and he worked with us, to pick us up, hold our bags in the car and take the tour around and then drive us to the airport in Lisbon. The car was great, he really went out of his way to accommodate us, and we loved the stops. He is so knowledgeable and kind and respectful, would definitely recommend him!!!

Caesar was a wonderful tour guide and an even better person. Stimulating conversation helped pass the time on what was a long commute to and from Lisbon. Although Caesar gave us plenty of time on our own, we would liked to have more time in Nazarre-perhaps down at the beach level-and less at the Batalha and Alcobaca churches. Just our preference. Bottom line: memorable tour and a nice change of pace in the countryside away from busy Lisbon.

What a wonderful way to travel to Obidos. Riu Cesar was extremely polite and a wonderful driver, picked us up in a BMW sedan, drove through Lisbon traffic and narrated a detailed history of Obidos and Portugal. He was prompt, communicated clearly, and was very professional. Extremely interesting background in hospitality worldwide. Self guided walking tour of the village was a unique experience, a truly delightful day out of the city. It is truly a beautiful village and you feel the history around you. I would highly recommend this tour, and this guide!

Cesar was an incredible driver/guide! He was organized, punctual, and so helpful with tips about each of the stops! Obidos feels like a crossover between Granada and Santorini!

It is a great tour as you have time to wander the areas at your leisure. It takes a while to get there but well worth it. Cesar was our driver and spoke great English and his car was super clean

Enjoyed Obidos was are favorite visit. The monestaries were good, but I would have liked to see only one and more time at Obidos. Hugo is great guide and driver. He has a wealth of knowledge.

He encouraged us to tailor the tour to spend the amount of time we wanted at our various stops. It was a wonderful day for us & our daughter, one we will always remember. Wow this was a wonderful day trip! Batalha was unbelievable - it’s a must see in person. We also enjoyed Alcobaca Monastery & Obidos. César was our guide for the day & he kept in constant communication before he picked us up from the hotel. He gave us a lot of good tips for the tours & restaurant tips. Such an easy, kind spirit he has, it was such a delight to have him as our guide!

RM Cesar is a great company to tour with. My husband and I had Rui , our driver/guide who drove us. We did a half day trip to Obidos. Rui is professional and a hospitable gentleman who makes you feel very welcome. His wealth of information is very much appreciated. We travelled in luxury in a very comfortable Jaguar. We had a great experience with our guide Pedro - enjoyed the monasteries, seeing beautiful Obidos - our guide arranged a delicious seafood lunch & we tried the unique cherry drink and pastries this region is famous for - overall a great day.

We had a fantastic day with our guide João. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and how it relates to the three sites we visited. Batalha Monastery is breathtaking, as is the monastery at Alçobaca. We had a great lunch in Nazaré, the views are stunning. Our day was topped off with a visit to the medieval town of Obidos. This is my second private tour with João and I highly recommend touring with him.

First rate driver, speaks excellent English. Itinerary was varied and gave us samplings of both the history and beauty of Portugal.

It was a lovely drive to various cities along the coast and then to Obidos. Obidos was a quaint town much like others in Europe where you wander in and out of shops, eat something and see the views from the castle.This all day trip was more costly than another all day trip to Tomar. If you want to visit various areas and not rent a car this is fine. It was not an informative day. Unfortunately it was a driver who said she was a guide. Her command of the English language was poor and she was not very knowledgeable about the destinations or at least could not explain things. She stated that the viaducts were built after the earthquake and Wikipedia said they were built before the event. She basically dropped us off and let us have time on our own. The Tomar guide pointed out where restrooms were and another Sintra guide directed us to an excellent restaurant for lunch and both had a wealth of knowledge. Also this was the same company that canceled our previous tour to Evora saying that 3 of us were not enough to go. Very disappointing.

Sintra castle is a day trip worth taking, we also did a sunset river cruise that was very nice though a bit chilly.

Great tour of Obidos, a delightful Medieval Village. There are a lot of shops selling a variety of goods and I loved that there were some working artists selling their artwork. We visited Nazaré which was very pretty, unfortunately no big waves the day we went. The monasteries were outstanding, each one incredibly beautiful. Joe, our guide was very knowledgeable and he allowed us plenty of time to explore each of the stops. A great day.

We had a wonderful day touring the Medieval Village of Obidos, Nazare, and two other monasteries with RM Cesar. He’s attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous the whole time. Obidos is a beautiful walled city. Lots of history and ginja in chocolate cup tasting. A day trip to this town is a must if you are visiting Lisbon. We were picked up on time. Our guide Joao, is very professional, knowledgeable and very attentive. He went above and beyond the tour detailed itinerary.

Our driver Cesar was very courteous and helpful. He was a safe driver and full of knowledge about portugese history which we really enjoyed. His recommendation for restaurant in Nazare was the best meal we ate on our trip in Portugal! We would recommend Cesar to everyone. The car wpas very comfortable and clean. We had a fabulous day on our private tour - so much better than being in a van with several other people. The small amount extra that you pay is well worth it! Our guide picked us up at our doorstep and was full of information about every stop we made, We talked history with him the whole day and learned so much more about Portugal and the amazing people that live there. Obidos is a must-see for anyone visiting Portugal. (We loved it so much that we actually talked about buying a house there for retirement). The castle was amazing and Nazare was so beautiful that we didn't want to leave. We had a wonderful lunch, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Our guide took us a bit off the normal itinerary to enable us to see everything we really wanted to see. He even gave us restaurant recommendations in Lisbon for the remainder of our stay. I would fully recommend this tour to anyone - if you don't take it, you have no idea how much you're missing out on!

Had a wonderful full day private tour with our driver/guide, Pedro. Everything went well and we really enjoyed this tour. First stop was the lovely village of Obidos. We spent about an 1 1/2 hours there which we found was plenty of time. Then on to Nazare. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and due to the pouring rain we chose to stay in the vehicle most of the time there. Pedro made sure to bring us to all the great spots so we could still get some photos. We also went to the Alcobaca Monastery and the Batalha Monastery. Both were beautiful. Pedro brought us to a great restaurant for lunch, Mosteiro Do Leitao where we enjoyed their specialty, the roasted pig. I would definitely recommend this tour. We really enjoyed the itinerary and never felt rushed.
