Our day was perfect!! John was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. His sense of timing is amazing because we saw many things and were never rushed. This was a truly memorable experience!!!

John was our guide. Very kind, attentive and knowledgeable about Portugal and our two destinations (Obidos and Nazare). He knew when to engage and when to step back and let us enjoy our experience. And we were the only two traveling with John that day which was a special bonus. We highly recommend John for any of the Viator Portugal tours tied to his organization!

A must see versus hearing about it, our guide Navez was great, he was accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Pictures do not give it justice.

The tour itself is great, one that needs to be seen. Navez our guide was informative, pleasant and moreover very friendly and tremendously accommodating. He made the experience very sensational.

We were the only 2 on the tour and our guide was very accommodating. He took us to Obidos and gave us some history. We then went to Nazare and he provided us history on the chapel and the church along with info on the surfing. Really nice person.

This was such an enjoyable half day tour! John our driver was superb, and provided us with great information on the drive up to Obidos and then to Nazare. We had sufficient time in Obidos to look around, and my sister and I even walked around the castle wall! Really fun and a great experience! The town of Obidos is adorable, and we had the best pastel de nata of our trip to Portugal in Obidos! The tour provides adequate time to look around the town. Then we headed off to Nazare, another beautiful and outstanding town. We learned about the why the waves are so large in Nazare, and we had time for a wonderful seafood lunch in the town! It's a wonderful place to visit, and I highly recommend this tour. John did a wonderful job giving us restaurant recommendations, as well as answering all of our questions. This tour is a great way to see both of these lovely places!

Navas showed us the very best of Obidos and Nazaré- and recommended a delicious seafood restaurant for lunch. We had plenty of time to tour each place. Navas was extremely kind and knowledgeable, as well as an excellent storyteller!! We will be back!!

The reason I gave 3 stars was simply based on the tour content. Our driver, Navaz, was EXCELLENT. Obidos & Navare were not worth the price tag and the driving time to get there. The previous day, we took Viator's "Sintra and Cascais Small Group Tour from Lisbon," and it was far more compelling for about half the price. I will post a review of that later. Please know Viator's booking process and communications right up to departue were very good. No problems at all. Also, please know we are very well traveled, and we just felt there wasn't anything unique about Obidos, and after visiting the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, Navare was nothing special, in my opinion.

Loved the Obidos and Nazare tour. It was a beautiful day and we were fortunate to visit both cities. Our guide John, was excellent. He gave us the history of both towns and helped the five of us who were on the tour to live the Portuguese experience. Highly recommend this tour.

This was an excellent tour! Navaz, our guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly! We were a group of 4 adults and Navaz was very accommodating. We especially appreciated being able to take our time in each stop and never felt rushed. Navaz made a lunch reservation for us right across from the beach. He also offered to take us to Fatima even though it was not on this particular tour and not far from Nazare. We took him up on his offer and it was a fantastic day! Thank you again, Navaz!

Our tour to Obidos and Nazaré was made very special because of our amazing guide, John! He has so much knowledge about the history of Lisbon, Obidos, and Nazaré and communicates extremely well. He is passionate about what he does and you can tell it is important to him that everyone in his tour group has the best experience possible. The van was immaculate and comfortable, with free water and wifi provided. Obidos is a charming town with beautiful flowers, cute shops, and friendly people. Nazaré is a coastal laid back town we also loved, Most visitors to the lighthouse have to walk a distance but with this tour John has permission to drive his passengers to the door, well appreciated!We had a delicious lunch in town that John reserved for us. Book this tour, you will not be disappointed!

We had a great day with our guide Nevez who took us every where with ease and was very informative. He organised a lovely lunch at Nazare. Unfortunately the weather was very hazy so difficult to see the waves but very interesting.

I admittedly assumed that meant we would be traveling in a small passenger van, although that was not explicitly stated in the description. The evening before our tour, our guide, Navaz, contacted me via WhatsApp to confirm our pickup location and provide a description of the vehicle. The meeting point was centrally located and very easy to find, and Navaz arrived a few minutes early. There were four guests in total—two couples who did not know one another—and the vehicle was a very clean passenger car. We offered the front seat to the husband of the other couple because of his height, which left the other three of us squeezed into the back seat. I ended up in the middle, sitting over the hump. It wasn't particularly comfortable for the amount of driving involved. I want to be very clear that this was not Navaz's fault. The group was assigned to him through the booking, and he did everything he could to make our day enjoyable. I mention the vehicle only so that others booking a “small-group” tour know what they may encounter. Navaz was an excellent guide—friendly, kind, informative, and knowledgeable. At each destination, he gave us helpful information and made sure we felt we had enough time to explore on our own. We never felt rushed. Our first stop was Óbidos, and it was absolutely beautiful and charming. We arrived well before the large tour buses, so for a while it felt as though we had the village almost to ourselves. Wandering the cobblestone streets among the whitewashed houses was a feast for the eyes. There were local artisans selling handcrafted items, musicians performing, and plenty of little cafés and shops to explore. We easily could have spent several hours simply wandering. From there, we continued to Nazaré. One of the things we especially wanted to see was the lighthouse and the beach famous for its enormous surfing waves. While there were no 100-foot waves during our visit—it wasn't the season—the scenery certainly did not disappoint. We were originally supposed to begin our return journey after Nazaré, but earlier in the day Navaz had asked whether we might like to extend our visit and have lunch at a local seafood restaurant down by the beach. We happily agreed, and he made a reservation for us. It was a genuinely local experience rather than a tourist-trap restaurant and was a wonderful addition to the day. Overall, this was a great day. Óbidos and Nazaré were both well worth visiting, and getting to Óbidos early enough to enjoy it before the crowds was especially memorable. Most importantly, Navaz was terrific and made the experience even better. My only suggestion to the tour operator would be to provide more information about the type of vehicle that will be used. Both sites were worth the trip- beauty, nature, local charm, and history. Joao provided great information and had a gentle confidence about him. It was refreshing. That said, we chose this tour b/c it was 6 hours, not 8 like similar ones. We got back over 2 hours late, just after 5 instead of the 2:30 pm that was advertised. The atop times just didn't pencil out, regardless of a couple late peoplw when leaving sites. We were okay with our later plans but others were stressed with being late for PM plans.

Had a wonderful time with João! Our tour guide really made the trip that much better, he was very knowledgeable, humorous, attentive. Would highly recommend visiting these beautiful towns.

Nevez was the best! Very informative and pleasant. We were able to see everything on our own and he got us a lunch reservation at the best restaurant on the beach.

We had a wonderful private excursion to Óbidos and Nazaré, and overall everything was excellent. Our driver and guide, Navaz, was very nice, helpful, accommodating, and a pleasure to spend the day with. He made sure we had plenty of time to explore both places on our own and never made us feel rushed. He was attentive to our needs and helped make the day very enjoyable. The small souvenir he gave us at the end was also a very thoughtful touch. Our only disappointment was with the transportation arrangement. Since Viator had changed this excursion to a private tour, and we were the only couple on the tour, we were surprised that we were not picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Instead, we had to take a taxi to and from the designated meeting point. This was an unnecessary inconvenience, particularly for a private tour. We have absolutely no complaint about Navaz—he was excellent and we would happily recommend him. Our comment about the pickup and drop-off is solely about the way the private tour was organized. Overall, we had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed Óbidos and Nazaré.

Outstanding trip to Obidos and the North beach. We loved walking along the high castle walls, and vistibg the famous chocolate house. Nazare has its own charm. Our guide Jallaluddin (John) was the kindest, warmest and highly knowledgeable guide you could ask for. Unforgettable experience, thank you!

Navaz was our guide to Obidos and Nazare. The day was more than we hoped for. The sights were spectacular and Navaz provided inciteful background and historical information that made the experience enjoyable and enriching. The restaurant he recommended, Adega Oceana Marisqueira, in Nazare was a culinary pleasure and right on the beach. I would recommend this experience to family or friends.

This was a wonderful taste of both areas in Lisbon. Such lovely towns that should not be missed. We had a very small group, only us and another couple (who were great). Van was comfortable and travel was easy, however, felt like we paid for travel. There was not much involvement from guide after drop off at towns.

Wow, wow, wow…what a delightful experience! Like I time-traveled back to the 8th century of medieval times. Our tour guide John is phenomenal. Excellent pre-trip communication. Both Nazaré and Óbidos were absolutely stunning, each with its own charm and beauty. The only minor downside was missing the season for the famous 100-foot waves in Nazaré—but honestly, everything else about the day more than made up for it.
