Lisbon: Sintra Monserrate Palace , Cabo Da Roca Private Tour

Cascais, Cabo Da Roca, Monserrate Palace day trip with Christiano was a wonderful adventure in his fully restored 1970 VW bus. His recommendation for lunch near Sintra was a dining highlight of our trip. Wonderful food and a spectacular setting. The gardens of the palace were another highlight. Unfortunately the palace is shrouded in scaffolding which takes away from the exterior of the palace. Overall a great trip and fun day with Christiano!!

Book this tour! Christiano is a spectacular guide and his restored VW bus is so fun! This tour provides a fantastic way to see some great locations and get lunch at a place you’d never find on your own. This tour honestly may be worth it just to get to the lunch spot! Christiano and his wife Laura are very accommodating and kind. If I could rate this 10 stars, I would! (Ps. VW has no AC so bring a handheld fan to be comfortable in the hot summer months)

Christofano was great. Always took us around to avoid crowds. Brought us to some beautiful ocean views and a great restaurant on the water. Yes, Laura, he told us best places to go and Titi (the VW bus) was well cared for.

What a fabulous way to tour Lisbon and its surroundings! We wanted a day trip outside the city and found this listed on Tripadvisor. What a treat! Not only did we get to see the coastal countryside and visit Cascais and the castle in Sintra, we got to do it in real style! The restored 1970 VW van was so much fun, and attracted a lot of attention. We thought we were movie stars! Christiano and his wife own the van, and restored it lovingly, to offer a unique expedition. Christiano drove and provided a great deal of commentary and advice, like skip the line to see the inside of the castle and instead see the outside and then have time for something else. He put no time limits on us and offered suggestions on where to walk and explore in each place. He met us near our Airbnb and off we went for a full day. We stopped at a fabulous place for lunch, a restaurant cut Ito the hillside on the coast where waves would splash up into the pool at high tide. Magnificent views of the sea and not at all crowded. After a long day he dropped us off where he had picked us up. You can tell the this company loves their work, and sharing Portugal with visitors. Highly recommend.

Christiano (Chris) and his 55 year old VW micro bus are the very best way to travel to Sintra and more. Knowledgeable, an excellent driver, and very personable, he will make sure you have a truly enjoyable experience that will put you more in touch with Portugal. Driving out along the coast road itself was a visual pleasure. We had time to explore Cascais, he made a side trip for us to Cabo da Roca (must be seen) and took us to a restaurant that we would’ve never found and where we had a fantastic lunch with a view that cannot be beat. In Sintra he deliberately steered us away from the Pena Palace as being too crowded (a victim of its own success) to Monserrate which was a true delight & less crowded (yeah, we’ll have to explain to friends why we didn’t go to Pena but we’ll help them wish they’d gone to Monserrate). During the day his “boss”, better known as his wife Laura sent info on restaurant recommendations which we appreciated. Chris alone is enough to use his guide & driving services and with his cool, fully restored & comfortable VW microbus . . . you just have to do it.

Our day with Christiano has been the highlight of our trip to Portugal. Laura and Christiano planned a full day with so many amazing places and experiences and such great stories and information! They customized the itinerary for us based on our interests and their knowledge. Leaving the driving to someone else really allowed us to enjoy the day and experience places we didn’t even know existed! We really appreciated being able to take as much time as we wanted to enjoy each stop. Highly recommend! Thank you so much!

This is the absolute best way to tour! There were places I wanted to go, and they wrote a perfect itinerary for us. We saw the sites we wanted without having to be on a bus full of people. They suggested a place for lunch and it was fabulous, with an ocean view. The drive between sites was short with plenty of free time when we wanted it. They were fun, informative, and all around enjoyable to be with. You cannot go wrong booking this tour!

Traveling with a stranger for the day could definitely feel awkward depending on the character you get, which is why Christiano is the perfect man for the job. He offers you so much more than a tour, He has such a friendly approach and a genuine interest in our time spent on holiday, giving us many suggestions once our tour with him had ended.  The van is well-maintained, comfortable and clean, with a selection of music to your choice and just all-round good vibes. He also took the time to walk us into the restaurant he had booked to make sure we had the perfect view for our lunch. Every little detail was planned out scenic routes for the drive, tables with a view parking us as close to the attractions as he could get with no rush. As to when we arrived back at the van, he went the extra mile, and it didn’t go unnoticed. I would 100% recommend this trip to anyone visiting Lisbon. It is amazing value for money and definitely something we will remember.

Christiano couldn’t have been nicer. He picked us up near our Airbnb and quickly confirmed that the planned itinerary was acceptable. We drove out of Lisbon past the Belém sites and Christiano took us right to the entrance for Pena Palace. We strolled through at our leisure and Christiano was waiting right down the hill. We went to lunch at Azenhas do Mar. the scenery there was amazing and the food was delicious. Our next stop was Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in continental Europe. We were able to take our time and take in the cliffs and waves. After a brief stop to get pictures of our family and the wonderfully restored combi, we went on to the seaside town of Cascais. After a stroll and some ice cream, Christiano whisked us back to our Airbnb. It was an amazing day and our favorite activity of our trip.

We had a great trip with Vantour we are a family of 4 with 2 kids Laura and Christiano took us from the hotel in Lisbon to some amazing places the day trip was just magical and very good we highly recomand to take this trip!!

This adventure was fantastic! We gave up an included tour with our group to do this instead! Cristiano is amazing! Totally flexible, we could longer some places, and less at others at our discretion. He took us places the tour busses couldn’t go! He was funny, engaging and knowledgeable. He totally altered our pick up time and location for us due our scheduling stuff weirdly, and dropped us off at a different spot too! Book it you won’t regret it!

We enjoyed a great day as Christiano drove us along the coast, stopped at several places with great views, and had an amazing lunch.

Laura and Christiano were amazing tour guides! So professional and personable, provided great information and enjoyable conversation! The VW van was beautiful and such a unique way to travel to the beautiful sights! The restaurant for lunch was incredible …..delicious food and wine….and amazing views…. And great service. Reminded us of Santorini! I cannot say enough of how much we enjoyed our day…. So grateful that I found the tour on YouTube! Definitely was a highlight of our Portugal vacation! Today was the best day of our multi-country honeymoon, and all because of Laura and Christiano. Two of the most genuine, thoughtful, funny, interesting people my wife and I have ever had the great pleasure of talking to. Their stories and their interest in our stories made for not only a memorable day, but made us feel like we were elite citizens receiving VIP treatment from start to finish. Laura met us at our hotel and the adventure began with getting to know you chat, the entire drive until we reached our first stop. They guided us on where to meet them after we finished each experience. They took photos of us when asked and allowed us to take our time and soak in every minute without rush. Laura walked us to the entrance of each location and Christiano pointed out details along the way that we’d never have noticed otherwise. We were taken to the most beautiful locations along the coast in style. Their van (which has one of the greatest stories in and of herself) was comfortable, safe, and BEAUTIFUL. We mean it from the bottom of our hearts when we say we never wanted our time with Laura and Christiano to end. They made our time in Lisbon magical. Thank you, Laura and Christiano!

We decided to have a private tour, while staying in Lisbon, to Sintra and Cabo De Roca. I randomly picked Laura and Cristiano, of course based on the positive rating as well. Our trip started by having Cristiano and Laura picking us up from our rented apartment. And going forward, everything was as described in the description … and even more. Travelling with their vintage van, listening to a good music, talking a lot about a lot of stuff and stopping to see views and enjoy the nature was a spectacular experience. Except stopping in Sintra and Cabo da Roca, our hosts booked a magnificent restaurant for an hour lunch. Me, my wife and our 17 years old son enjoyed every bit of this trip and we are happy to recommend it to anyone hesitating to go! Thank you for the beautiful day spent with you Laura and Cristiano

Christiano was an excellent host! He was very punctual and provided clear communication on a meeting spot. Shortly after the tour began he provided my friend and I with an outline on how the day would look and the estimated time it would take us to arrive at each stop. Along the way he asked us various questions to get to know us and learn about our time in Portugal and what we had planned. The palace was a great option (as opposed to visiting Pena) it was not over crowded and gave us an opportunity to explore the garden and castle all under 1 hour! The lunch stop was so magical and reminded me of Santorini! The lunch was delicious and we got to take our time and Christiano met us right near the exit. We stopped in Cassacis as well as the western most point of all Europe! He was extremely accommodating and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire day! If you are looking for an efficient and intimate tour to step out of Lisbon for the day I would highly recommend this tour!

Best tour ever! Lovely van and even lovelier hosts! Christiano and Laura are knowledgeable and kind, fun guides and they tailor it all to what you like- for instance you stay as long as you like at the palace, etc. Each stop is special in its own way and not to be missed but Sintra is like a “magical mystery tour” My 20s son said it was the highlight of his trip! We’ll do another tour with Christiano and Laura next time, too! It’s fun getting the waves from people as they see the van too!

I had the pleasure of visiting beautiful Portugal for almost two weeks with my best friend. A highlight of our trip was going on a private tour to the Sintra area with VanTour Wayoflife in an authentic 1970 VW van fully restored to all its original beauty. You wouldn’t believe all of the attention it got when people saw it on the streets. The tour took us to places that were beautiful and our wonderful tour guide encouraged us to take our time at each place we went. We also went to a little known restaurant built on the hillside. I highly recommend booking this business while in Lisbon.

What an amazing day trip aboard Laura’s VW Combi! Laura is a very friendly and professional guide. It was a privilege to have her as a private driver to visit the majestic (and not easily accessible) city of Sintra and the authentic villages of Colares and Azenhas do Mar. Laura and Christino were very efficient and very sympathetic. The route to Sintra in a VW combi was just great, we didn't notice the time passing. In addition, we had a great time during the lunch break 😋 Go for it without hesitation!

We spent this day with family with Christiano and Laura who are extraordinary guides! We left Lisbon for Sintra where we visited the Palacio Monserrate, lunch at Praia do Guincho with a breathtaking view, photo break at Cabo da Roca and Boca do Inferno then a return to Lisbon crossing the magnificent town of Caiscais . It is an enormous privilege to have been able to take this trip aboard a vintage van completely restored in a luxury style, a hippie touch with extraordinary comfort. Christiano and Laura also have superb musical tastes and great humor! Thank you both so much for this wonderful day, we will choose another route next time to have the opportunity to spend another day with you!

We booked this excursion to Sintra with Laura and Christiano who were great! everything was perfect! The route and the sites chosen were truly exceptional. Their van is beautiful, comfortable and we listened to good music. An unforgettable day in Sintra. I recommend without hesitation.
