Lisbon To Algarve Private Tour: Benagil Caves Cruise & Top Sights

The trip was a wonderful experience. We got to stop and see such beautiful sites. the boat ride was fun with amazing views and more beautiful caves than I expected. Our driver Nuno was professional and friendly and very informative. We had a great lunch by the beach. It was a perfect day.

We had the best time with Susana! They fit us in for a last minute booking to the Algarve from Lisbon. She arrived on time in a nice Mercedes van. Susana has a true passion for Portugal’s history! We had such a great time we booked the next day with her to Sintra. Highly highly recommend!

Our experience with this tour company was truly unforgettable. From the very beginning, we felt very well taken care of, but what made the tour especially memorable was, without a doubt, our guide, Susana Gracio. She was not only kind, attentive, and warm, but she also shared her extensive knowledge of history in such an engaging and enjoyable way that the tour seemed to fly by. Every place came to life through her explanations, stories, and little details, allowing us to discover it from a different and much more special perspective. It was clear how much she enjoys her work and how much she cares about making sure that everyone accompanying her has a truly enriching experience. She was always happy to answer our questions, help us whenever needed, and share much more than just facts about the places we visited. By the end of the tour, we felt that we had not only visited wonderful places, but that we had also learned, enjoyed ourselves, and experienced something much more meaningful thanks to her. Rui our tour guide/ driver was an amazing person. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and took us to some amazing places in Algarve. Some of the beach scenery in Algarve was absolutely stunning. The highlight of the tour was the small boat ride in the caves. It was an amazing lifetime experience.

This was absolutely outstanding. Our guide Joanna was the best part of the trip and is so wonderful and organized. We had a stress free unbelievable tour of the Algarve and she is just the best and the tour was the absolute best! It is one of the best memories I will cherish from our family trip to Portugal.

Wow the visit to Algarve was just the best way for us to end our visit to Portugal. It is an unforgettable experience. Our guide Nuno from Van Go Tourism amazing. He treated us so well like we are family. He showed us the best sites and we had such an enjoyable time and to top it all off even ice cream in Albufeira. I give this experience of a single day of the Algarve 10/10.

Long day, but, fun adventures. Be aware you have 5+ hours just driving to & from the tour area. The cliffs and small towns are interesting as well. The Cliffs boat tour was the highlight - about 1.5 hrs long. Bring flip-flops and sunscreen for the small boat ride. 9 ppl on a boat.

Full day experience in comfort and luxury. Private van with WiFi. Driver made sure the 2.5hr drive to Algarve was comfortable for everyone. Loved that he gave us historical information on the drive down. Took us stop to stop and even made suggestions and recommendations for food/shopping. Bengali caves boat tour was the highlight! Highly recommended if you want to explore Algarve and not have to deal with driving, parking, and booking anything!

Nuno was the perfect guide to Algarve for my family. Pickup/Drop off directly from our hotel made it convenient. He provided much information during the drive and made us feel comfortable. He made lunch reservations for us. The Bengali Cave tour was the definite highlight! He had water buckets ready to clean our feet afterwards. So thoughtful and considerate during the entire tour. He provided recommendations for food/drink/shopping. Van Go Tourism is a great company and provides excellent service. They are highly recommended by me and I’d ask for Nuno!

This was a long but well worth it adventure! Vasco did an amazing job showing us all the sights and explaining Portuguese history. He recommended a great lunch spot. The boat ride to the caves was a definite highlight!!

Amazing day tailored to what we asked to do. We saw many of the iconic beaches in Algarve, swam at one for a couple of hours at my kids request, and learned much about the region during the day. It was a great trip.

What a fabulous day! (May 30, 2026) Susana picked us up at 7AM from our hotel in Lisbon, as planned. We had a full and long day planned. The trip was prepaid and itinerary arranged back in February. Our trip to Lagos took about 3 hours from Lisbon. Susana entertained and amazed us with stories of the local areas we passed and the Portuguese culture and its history in general. She pointed out the agricultural aspects of the area and the Muslim influences in the architecture. Our first stop in The Algarve was Albuteira where we walked the cobblestone streets exploring the town and passed through a tunnel to the Praia do Peneco beach area. Next, we drove a short distance to Carvoeiro for a fabulous lunch at Tapas da Vila--the codfish fritters were yum! After lunch, we walked a short distance to the water side and donned life vests for a 90 minute boat ride through the Bengali Caves. (Don't miss doing this!) Following the boats ride, we headed to Lago--a simply charming town. Our stop included a guided walking tour and a guided visit to the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade for dramatic views of the rock formations off shore. After a full day, it was time to drive the 3 hours back to our hotel. Susana continued to tell us stories and the history of her beloved country. She made us love it, too!

Hugo was amazing! We had the absolute best time. The beaches he took us to were amazing. He was so warm and welcoming. We sang the day away as we went from beach to beach. We had such a great day! Book him if you want to have a perfect day!

We had a great day with Nuno from Van GO Tourism visiting the Algarve; but it was much more than this. He gave us an excellent history of Portugal, the effect of the 1755 earthquake on the region; and an overview of the Algarve, Lisbon, and Portugal today. The Algarve coastline is breathtaking with its' cliffs, caves, rock formations, beaches and quaint towns. The people of the region are friendly and welcoming. This was a fun, educational and very worthwhile day experiencing the Algarve with an an extremely knowledgeable guide. Our transportation in an MB van was very comfortable and helped to make a long day more than enjoyable. This is a must do excursion when visiting Portugal and be sure to schedule with Nuno if possible.

A great private day trip giving us an intro into the Algarve. We were with Nuno as our guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and attentive. Suggested & arranged a wonderful water view lunch spot. The vehicle was a Mercedes that was in excellent condition & very comfortable. We visited Albufeira, Carvoeiro & the Benagil Caves, and Lagos for a walk & view of the breathtaking limestone cliffs. A splurge but worth it. We have a camera full of memories!

He proactively ensured that we had a comprehensive and memorable experience, offering us up-close views of the beautiful coastline and numerous great stops along the way.

It’s a long day. Relaxing and all about the water. Susana recommended a seafood place for lunch and it made our trip. She is so knowledgeable and flexible to our needs. Splurge on a private tour and marvel in the scenery

The Van Go Tour with Nuno was fantastic. He is so friendly, outgoing, knows everyone which helps us efficiently move through ticket lines, kept us on time without being overbearing. He gave us opportunities to explore the beaches of Lagos, Carvoeiro Beach during lunch, and Albufeira. The Benagil Caves boat tour was the highlight. The colors have to be seen in person. We had a small 9 person boat tour which was great for photo taking. The price we paid for the tour was very reasonable and included pick up from our accommodation. This tour was one day. We did back to back day tours with Nuno and have fun conversations throughout and learned history.

Nuno was a wonderful guide. He told us about the history of the sights we were seeing and made sure we had a wonderful time. I would recommend requesting him when you book!

Susana is a guide who loves her job and it shows!!! I almost cancelled the trip because the weather prevented us from going on the boat. BUT, we had a fabulous time!!! Seeing the caves from above, yes different than being in water, was still a site to see!! Add to that, Susana’s knowledge of her country and enthusiasm to share made the trip! We learned about the Algarve region, ate a traditional almond paste sweet treat, had a wonderful lunch in Lagos, and felt very well taken care of. Our son fell in love with Lagos and is already thinking of returning for a vacation! Don’t hesitate to book - it’s a long day but worth it!

Nuno was a wonderful guide who arrived on time, kept us on schedule and catered to our every need. My husband doesn’t walk well and needed a little extra support. Nuno was so considerate. We felt safe with his driving, he gave a thorough history and information about the area and provided an excellent day.

One word: VIEWS!!!!! Nuno was so kind and was excited for us to enjoy the trip. I will say the tour is pretty fast paced but well worth it if you’re wanting to see a little bit of everything. 10/10 experience!

Nuno was our guide an he was excellent!!! Unfortunately, due to the water conditions we were unable to go into the Benagil caves but he made the most of our day and brought us to some of the most beautiful places we would not have seen otherwise. I would highly reminded this tour and this company!

After seeing pictures of Algarve online I knew we had to go, but only had one free day in our schedule. So we took an all day tour out of Lisbon and have no regrets. We had a great time and covered a lot of ground. Our guide Rui, was reserved but knowledgeable about the area and took us to many, many great lookout spots. We did a lot of walking to scenic viewpoints but when we asked, he said he adjusts the tour to clients preference so the amount of walking and going up and down stairs can be varied. The cliffs were beautiful and the boat tour of the caves was excellent. At one point we walked down 232 steps down to a secluded beach and then back up of course. We walked through a few beaches but did not linger too long. If you want to linger more at a beach and spend less time exploring, I’d suggest asking and I am sure they can accomodate this. We definitely got our steps in and enjoyed the views in the process! While the drive was several hours, there were sufficient stops that it never felt like we were wasting the day in the car. If you only have one free day we definitely recommend taking this tour of Algarve.

The views of the beaches and the coastline were amazing. The boat ride through the Benagil Caves was simply mesmerizing and a lot of fun. Nuno was very knowledgable about the history of the region and shared lots of interesting information during the tour.

We wanted to see the Algarve area while in Portugal and scheduled this tour. Simone was our guide for the day and we had a wonderful time with her! She was very knowledgeable about the country and the specific areas we visited, and made sure we were well taken care of. She took us to several beaches and even made our lunch reservation so we could grab a bite after our boat ride to the caves. The boat ride into the caves was the highlight of this tour - they were breathtakingly beautiful. Would highly recommend this tour and asking for Simone as your guide.

This was a great tour but the boat ride to see the caves was amazing! The small boats would enter the caves and you got to experience it from the inside. Highly recommend it.

Very good experience and memories in Algarve especially with Nuno. He is so caring and knowledgeable . Explain everything we need to know and take care of us for the whole trip. 5 out of 5 star for him. This is the places you must visit when you come to Portugal.

Our guide Nunu was friendly and patience. Due to weather issues we could not take the initial boat ride but the company gave us a different tour which was equally amazing. The view of the coastline along Lagos and Alga Seco was breathtaking. A must see. We also visited the quiant town of Albufeira which was charming.

The Algarve region is spectacular. Our driver (Joao) was great! He was so helpful and polite. The car was spotless, roomy and comfortable. Joao drove up as close as he could to all of the stops so we wouldn’t have to walk too much and he accompanied us to point out interesting things. The boat ride was incredible. We knew this would be a long day, but it was totally worth it. Highly recommend!

After seeing pictures of the Algarve, I knew that I just had to go. Our group had just a week in Portugal so I knew that we needed to make the most our one day dedicated to the Algarve. That’s why I booked this private tour for the four of us. It was incredible!!! Our guide Simone was fabulous—so knowledgeable and gracious. She truly made our day the best of our vacation. Simone shared so much about Portuguese culture and history. She took us to Lagos first where we saw amazing rock formations along the beach. Then we went to Carvoeiro for a lunch of small plates—so delicious. We then went to Albufeira where we walked through the town and had a few beers. (Simone didn’t). Then we went to the BENAGIL caves. So AMAZING! The whole day was so amazing that I didn’t want it to end. I felt I had made a real friend in Simone. She simply is the best! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
