My wife and I did this tour on our Lisbon trip and it was the highlight of our stay. The crew was friendly from the moment we stepped on board, and nothing felt rushed. They took us past Belém Tower, under the 25 de Abril Bridge and along the MAAT waterfront, and they let us linger at every spot until we got the photos we wanted. The live guitar as the sun dropped behind the bridge was the best part. Comfy seats, a drink in hand, golden light on the water. If you only do one thing in Lisbon, do this.

Itinerary
At the beginning of our tour along the Tagus River, we will pass by the majestic Belém Tower, one of Lisbon's most iconic monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1514 and 1520, this Manueline-style tower was erected to defend the mouth of the Tagus and protect Lisbon from potential invasions. With its stunning architecture, you can admire the intricate stone carvings, such as the intertwined ropes, armillary spheres, and crosses of the Order of Christ—symbols of Portugal's maritime power. Beyond its defensive role, Belém Tower also served as a lighthouse, a customs post, and even a prison. It was also a departure point for the great maritime expeditions of the Age of Discoveries. As we pass by, imagine Portuguese navigators like Vasco da Gama setting sail into the unknown.
Shortly after passing Belém Tower, we will spot in the distance one of Lisbon’s most grand and impressive monuments: the Jerónimos Monastery. A symbol of the wealth and splendor of the Age of Discoveries, this monastery was commissioned by King Manuel I in the early 16th century to celebrate the great maritime voyages of Portuguese explorers. With its imposing Manueline-style architecture, the monastery stands out for its intricate stone carvings, featuring maritime motifs such as ropes, armillary spheres, and mythical creatures. Inside, you will find the tombs of some of Portugal’s most significant historical figures, including Vasco da Gama, the explorer who opened the sea route to India, and Luís de Camões, the poet who immortalized these achievements in his epic work The Lusiads.
As we continue our journey along the Tagus River, we will see one of the most iconic monuments of Lisbon’s waterfront: the Monument to the Discoveries. Built in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator, this impressive monument pays tribute to the great Portuguese explorers who expanded the world's horizons. Its structure, shaped like a stylized caravel, is dominated by a massive statue of Prince Henry, the driving force behind the Age of Discoveries, holding a map and gazing towards the ocean. Along the sides, you can see key figures from Portugal’s history, including Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, Bartolomeu Dias, and Luís de Camões, among others. At the base of the monument lies a massive compass rose made of traditional Portuguese pavement, a gift from South Africa, illustrating the routes taken by Portuguese navigators.
During our tour, we will pass by the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology, one of Lisbon’s modern icons. Inaugurated in 2016, this avant-garde building stands out for its undulating shape, which blends seamlessly with the waterfront landscape and reflects the sunlight over the Tagus River. Designed by British architect Amanda Levete, the MAAT is covered in thousands of three-dimensional tiles that shimmer depending on the sun's position and the movement of the water, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. Its rooftop, open to the public, offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Lisbon. The museum is a dynamic space dedicated to contemporary art, design, innovation, and technology, hosting exhibitions and events that explore the impact of science and creativity on society.
As we continue our journey along the Tagus River, we will pass by one of Portugal’s largest and most impressive infrastructures: the 25 de Abril Bridge. Inaugurated in 1966, this suspension bridge connects Lisbon to Almada and was inspired by the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA. It is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Stretching approximately 2.277 km, the 25 de Abril Bridge is not only an engineering marvel but also a symbol of both Lisbon and Portugal. Originally named Salazar Bridge, it was renamed after the April 25th Revolution in 1974, which ended the country’s dictatorship. This name change reflects its connection to the historic moment that marked Portugal’s transition to freedom and democracy. As we sail beneath its towering structure, take a moment to observe the massive pillars and steel cables that support this metallic giant. The view of the bridge, with Lisbon’s coastline on one side and Almada on the other, is truly unforgettable.
As we move along the Tagus River, we will pass by one of Lisbon’s most iconic squares: the Praça do Comércio, also known as Terreiro do Paço. Located along the riverside, this vast square was for centuries the administrative and political center of the city, surrounded by grand arcaded buildings that create a majestic yet welcoming atmosphere. Praça do Comércio has been the stage for many historic events, including the April 25th Revolution of 1974, when troops overthrew the dictatorship, marking the beginning of a new era for Portugal. At the center of the square stands the Arco da Rua Augusta, which leads into downtown Lisbon and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the river. As we pass by, imagine the vibrant activity that once took place here—from merchants and nobility to the demonstrators who celebrated freedom. Today, the square remains a central meeting point in the city, filled with cafés, shops, and a stunning view of the Tagus.
As we continue along the Tagus River, we will see the Cristo Rei, a monumental statue rising majestically on the southern bank. Inaugurated in 1959, Cristo Rei was inspired by the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and was created as a symbol of faith and gratitude to God for the peace achieved after World War II. Standing 28 meters tall, the figure of Christ with open arms represents divine protection over the city of Lisbon and the country. The monument is perched atop a hill, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Lisbon, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and the Tagus, making it one of the city's most visited landmarks. As we sail under the watchful gaze of this sacred figure, take a moment to reflect on its symbolism, which serves as both a religious and cultural landmark in Lisbon. The live music on board will make this moment even more special, as we take in the beauty of the Tagus and the grandeur of Cristo Rei.
As we make our way back to Belém Tower, with the Bugio Lighthouse on the horizon, a breathtaking scene unfolds as the sun sets. With a unique vibe, live music, and the sea breeze, we will take in this magical moment where the sky and the sea merge, painted in golden hues. A true spectacle for the senses, with the tranquility of the Tagus and the warmth of the evening.

What a magnificent sunset tour. It turned into a private tour because it was just me and my partner. Whereas many tour operators would have cancelled, Ivo proceeded with the two of us and did not skimp on anything. We had wine, cheese, nuts and live music performed by Ivo. It was enchanting as we traversed the choppy waters. The river is usually more calm but it was windy that day and despite the rougher waters Ivo did all to ensure we had a great time and navigated the boat safely. We took great pictures and had fun and interesting conversation with Ivo about the sights, Portugal and life. The 2 hours passed too quickly but so happy we were able to share this experience with Ivo. Please support this business. You will not be disappointed. You can end your visit to Belem with a sunset boat tour that surely will stand out among the rest
An excellent way to experience Lisbon from the seaside. Have fun with the Crew singing and also guide you through the highlights of the history of Lisbon from the sea side. They did an amazing job to make it a memorable trip. Would not hesitate to book again,
Hands down the coolest night of our trip! We took our parents out on the water with Ivo and João, and they were the absolute best hosts. Beyond the great views of the monuments, the cold vinho verde, and the delicious cheese, they broke out their guitars and turned the whole evening into a sing-along as the sun went down. Everyone was singing along and having the best time. It felt like a party on the water with great friends. Do not miss this tour!
Amazing boat trip on Tejo river. The crew are amazing, polite and very professional. It’s an incredible experience to do in Lisbon. You also have the opportunity to see both sides of the river, as well as a tour guide with the most important historical buildings with wine tasting. On top of that, you can also dive to the river (if you are dare to do so).
This was an excellent experience for my whole family. I booked a cruise for the 4 of us not knowing it would end up being a private cruise with Ivo & Joao. The communication was good. They called us about 20 minutes before we were due to depart in order to push back our departure time so that we would catch the sunset. We ended up enjoying a snack & drink by the docks while waiting. Then we were off. The boat is small but comfortable. We were able to see the bridge and various monuments from the water and they had binoculars so we could get close up views. The commentary was excellent and gave history and fun background info. We went the night Portugal played Spain in the World Cup so it was super cool to see the main square crowded for the game from the boat. As the sunset, we dropped anchor in a cove where the guys broke out there guitars and serenaded us. Even had a sing along. They were great with my niece who enjoyed dancing to the music. 10 out of 10!

A small friendly sunset tour personalised to the group. The guides were amazing, as well as been informative they played their guitars and sang as the sunset. We also got to see all the highlights along the river. I will be back with my family next time I visit.
This was a really wonderful cruise. The live music was fabulous, and the crew were lovely. Highly recommend.
I was a little nervous going alone. And was even more nervous when there was only one other traveler on my trip. Relax. The vibe was amazing and the captain and his mate were fantastic. I will never forget my adventure and would absolutely to it again. I’m Sure the next experience would be amazing as well! Highly recommend. Leave your fears or worries at the dock. Good vibes only.
Amazing duo regaled us with Portuguese history, stories, wine and cheese, music in this private tour. Also, gratis shared a fully edited video of the tour experience too. Can’t recommend enough :)
Great experience!! The crew is really nice and friendly, the live music and the sunset created a wonderful atmosphere, we’ll never forget it. Great way of getting to know the city, we definitely recommend it ✨
The best sunset cruise! Just book it now, you won’t be disappointed. Boat was adorable and so comfortable. Our captains were very friendly. We had wine and cheese and enjoyed an amazing sunset at a perfect location. Just amazing. A highlight of our trip.
We had a fantastic sunset cruise with Ivo our Captain and John. We were a family of 6 adults and we were met at the dock on time and got on a lovely cruiser. We were given some wine, beer or cider and welcomed aboard. My daughter was given the job of picking the tunes and we set off to great music and drinks. Both Ivo and John took turns to tell us about the sights and history of Lisbon. Just before sunset Ivo stopped and tied up the cruiser and they got the guitars out and played some original fado music and songs we all knew to sing along to as the sun was setting before heading back to port. It was a great evening. This is a relatively new business and they are two great guys doing a great job. I would highly recommend this trip to any visitors to Lisbon
I chose this experience because its unique. You can go with yachts and private charters, but the experience sunshine tours provides makes you feel closer to Portugal and the Portuguese. We had history class, disco on the water and acoustic session all in one. Plus at the end we got fully edited go pro video from the whole thing. Captain Ivo and his sailor (forgot the name) are the best ambassadors of Portugal you can get as a first time visitor.
Ivo the captain and his sailor are two fantastic guys with great energy and cool stories to share about Lisbon. We had lots of fun together, free drinks and snacks, they let me play music from my home country and they made sure to do recommendations for Lisbon in general. We were guided through the history of Lisbon on water. BOOK THIS TOUR! Feel the Lisbon under the waves!
No sunset, but plenty of fun - with the rainy weather - it felt just like home for us Scots! Huge credit to Ivo and Tiago who kept spirits high and made sure we had a great time despite the weather. Less golden skies, more grey drama - but all the more memorable. Highly recommend.
We had a really great time with Ivo and Tiago. The whole trip was fun and relaxed from start to finish. Sailing along Lisbon’s waterfront was beautiful, with amazing views, good music, drinks, and lots of laughs with the crew. Watching the sunset while Ivo played live music made the experience even more special. A lovely trip that we won’t forget.
We had such a lovely time. Seeing Lisbon from the water gives you a totally different view of the city. The sunset was stunning, and the live music made the whole experience feel so relaxed and magical. It honestly ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Lisbon. Everything was really easy and Ivo was so friendly. I’d absolutely recommend it if you’re in Lisbon and want to do something a bit different.
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Due to weather our original trip was cancelled, but the captain worked with us to reschedule it to a convenient time to give us an amazing sunset experience. He sang, told us the history and even played some wonderful music on his guitar. We had an awesome time and I recommend this trip for everyone.
We had the best time with Ivo. He took us on a tour through the river and provided such great commentary and music! This was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Lisbon and I would highly recommend this excursion and Ivo. Don't sleep on taking the time to get down to Belem and catching the sunset from the river.
Wonderful time. Recommend 100% Beautiful boat, super nice crew. Excellent customer service. Length of the experience was perfect.
What an exceptional way to begin our Lisbon experience! Our hosts, Ivo and Joao, exemplify the best of Portugal. They are beyond hospitable, and they are truly authentic musicians. We highly recommend this cruise- 120%! Not only do you get to view so many sights and important historical landmarks, you are on a very clean and comfortable boat- this is a must do excursion, and especially with this fun group!
Great experience! I defo recommend. Enough space for up to 15 ppl comfortably abd have a lovely fun musical ride around the beautiful Lisbon and Cascais sightseeings. Ivo and Tiago were very nice and respectful, but also a lot of fun! Drinks, the sea, good company and music...you have it all! We've got great pics!
The tour was amazing and the views were breathtaking. I enjoyed every minute of it. The crew was professional and entertaining. They made very chill and friendly atmosphere.
Fantastic tour and breath-taking views. Friendly, professional and very fun crew. I enjoyed every minute of this magnificent experience!
Absolutely perfect experience! We did a boat tour on the Tejo River with friends and it was 5 stars from start to finish. The views over Lisbon are fantastic and the boat is super comfortable. Highly recommended!
It was simply spectacular — breathtaking sunset, music, laughter, and the joy of sharing it all with friends. The highlight was Captain Evil playing guitar as the sun went down — unforgettable! Both Captain Evil and First Mate Tiago were fabulous hosts, making the whole experience fun, relaxed, and truly exceptional. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a magical evening on the river.
We had an amazing time on the boat watching the sunset over the river – it was fun, relaxing, and absolutely beautiful. The whole experience felt special from start to finish. Huge thanks to Ivo and Tiago for being the perfect hosts – friendly, thoughtful, and full of good vibes. Highly recommended!
We booked a private boat ride on the Tejo River with a group of friends, and it ended up being one of the best. The vibes were immaculate—sunny skies, music playing, and gorgeous views of Lisbon from the water. It felt like our own little floating party. The crew was professional but also super friendly and laid-back. They gave us a quick safety rundown and made sure everyone felt comfortable. Once we were out on the water, we had the chance to dive off the boat a few times—highly recommend bringing a swimsuit and towel if swimming is allowed! The water was refreshing and clean, perfect for a quick cool-down. We cruised past some iconic sights—the 25 de Abril Bridge, the Christ the King statue, and the Tower of Belém. Seeing those from the water gives you a totally different perspective. There was plenty of room to relax on deck, and the boat was clean, well-maintained, and even had a Bluetooth speaker so we could play our own music. Tips: Bring sunscreen and a hat—the sun is strong out there. Pack a light snack theres drinks on the boat. Don’t forget your phone or camera. Sunset rides in particular = unreal photos. Book ahead, especially on weekends. Honestly, we didn’t have a single complaint. If you're in Lisbon and looking for something fun and a bit different, this boat ride is 100% worth it. Great for groups, birthdays, or just soaking up good summer energy.
The best boat trip you can take, from Captain Ivo Ramad to his wonderful and contagious music, the ride and the atmosphere created was wonderful, unforgettable, definitely worth repeating.

We had an unforgettable experience with Sailing Sunset Tour to celebrate our friend's birthday. Everything was perfect from the very beginning. We were a group of 11 friends, and the vibe was absolutely incredible. The captain, Ivo, was fantastic! So friendly, funny and full of energy. He truly made the experience even more special! The boat was spacious and comfortable, and we got to enjoy Lisbon's stunning landmarks from the water while dancing, laughing, and toasting to our friendship. It felt like a private party with the best views in Lisbon. If you're looking for a unique and fun way to celebrate or just enjoy Lisbon's beauty, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Ivo, for making our evening so memorable! 🌅🎉 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sailing Sunshine Boat Tours with Ivo as the captain was an absolute blast. The music was great, the drinks and snacks were first class, and his second mate Guillermo was fantastic. They are both very knowledgeable about the area's history and they stop at various spots to swim if you want to do that. If you are looking for a great day out on the water, I definitely would recommend Ivo and his Sailing Sunshine Boat Tour. In my opinion, what we received in terms of enjoyment, entertainment, snacks, drinks and great memories the price of this tour was well worth it. We got more than we expected.
Taking a tour with Sailing Sunshine Tours was one of the best experiences I've had in a very long time. It is the perfect way to spend an amazing afternoon with friends or family and to get to know Lisbon and it's history better. Ivo creates a very warm and happy space on his boat, with lots of good music and the most incredible vibes.
We had an incredible day with our tour guys, good vibes and a sunny day. we danced a lot and laughed. It was marvelous! Thank youuu
We had a wonderful boat tour on the Rio Tejo. Ivo entertained us with his beautiful songs and Guilherme with his amazing knowledge about the history of Lisboa and Portugal. The small scale concept of Sailing Sunshine Tours (max 12 guests) is a strong asset as it facilitates direct interaction with the crue and between the guests on board. A very nice experience indeed! Sabine & John
Very friendly crew, cozy space, beautiful views, great company, amazing vibes. An overall wonderful experience that I'll definitely do again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was without a doubt the highlight of our stay in Lisbon! Watching the sunset over the water, with music playing and a glass of wine in hand - it was simply perfection. We also had stunning views of the city. Ivo and his first mate are a fantastic source of local and historical knowledge, not to mention warm and friendly hosts. We felt relaxed and welcome the entire time. The icing on the cake was Ivo's live music performance - it really made it so personal and like nothing we have ever done before. We are so grateful for the experience and hope to come for another ride on our next visit to Lisbon!
We had a great time with Sailing Sunshine Tours: amazing and authentic Team from Lisbon creating a good vibe, offering great wine plus a cool bonus: live music played by one of the team members - totally recommendable for when you are in Lisbon!
An unforgettable experience! The sunset boat tour with Ivo in March was the perfect way to enjoy Lisbon’s stunning views. The atmosphere was lively and fun—great music, good vibes, and Ivo even played guitar and sang during the trip. The views of Lisbon from the water during sunset are absolutely breathtaking.
I booked a day out for a boat ride with my family and the kids absolutely loved it, the music was great, the food and drinks were really nice, the boat was super comfy and the sites were amazing and not to mention Captain Ivo who was really friendly and welcoming and is a really good singer. The boys learned a little bit more about the culture and took plenty of fotos to share with their friends. We will be back in the summer for sure. Highly recommend!!.
Amazing sunset Cruise!!! Recommended 200%! Funny with good food and music. The pilot is a known singer in Portugal and sings originals… what a treat!! Thank you again for the amazing tour. I loved each minute.
We did a tour with Ivo and Guilherme and it was amazing! Ivo brings the vibe with his music, while guilherme cheered us up with drinks. We loved seeying this new perspective of the city on a boat and truly had a blast. Very recommended!
A spectacular experience. The boat is an authentic floating "living room." And the captain, besides being friendly and an excellent musician, also knows well the history of Portugal and the landscape.
Handled from the booking via WhatsApp then at the Marina even before the scheduled time because we were free. We were lucky to be just the 4 of us, it was an exceptional outing. Very warm welcome, explanations all along the way, Ivo had us accompany him on his songs with instruments within our reach, it was really nice. I highly recommend this boat trip which is meant to be relaxed and friendly
It was a simply amazing experience! The boat trip through the Tejo, with the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and still make a stop for diving, was perfect. Everything became even more special thanks to Ivo, who was extremely attentive, friendly and made the ride very pleasant. To make the moment even more memorable, we still had the right to live music with Ivo playing the guitar on board — a real special touch! Without a doubt, an experience that we recommend and that we will keep with great affection. It's worth it! ❤️
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with the Sailing Sunshine Tours! We organized this tour at sunset in the Tejo as a team building activity for the staff of our restaurant and it was, without a doubt, an excellent choice. Commander Ivo was simply extraordinary. In addition to being very friendly, professional and attentive to every detail, he also gave us his music, creating a unique and unforgettable atmosphere on board. The combination of good mood, excellent company, live music and sunset over the Tejo made this experience truly special. Our entire team loved the tour and was willing to repeat. I recommend 100% to those looking for a different time, whether with friends, family or work colleagues. A huge thank you to Ivo and the entire Sailing Sunshine Tours team for providing us with a memorable afternoon. Five stars are more than deserved!
An unforgettable experience!! Super friendly staff and really good atmosphere. Delicious welcome drinks and harmonious music selection. Fun vibes, well paired with interesting historical facts perfectly adapted to our interest. Very authentic boat tour, absolutely recommended. Thank you Ivo and Jonny !!
