Meeting point
Monument to the Discoveries. Henry the navigator stands on the "Bow" steering the country into the one of the greatest times on the Portuguese history. From here the Portuguese set sail to discover half the world.
Important structure in 1500's to defend the city from the attacks coming from the ocean. was also a prison and the governor's house. Has more than 500 years old.
This museum is housed in a group of buildings classified as national heritage - the Central Tejo or Lisbon power station. Besides the building itself, the main interest is the machinery used to supply electricity to the city of Lisbon in the first half of the 20C. It includes 19C dynamos and electric motors, steam engines, high-pressure boilers, hydraulic generators and other tools and equipment.
Inaugurated in October 2016 within the framework of EDP Foundation’s long-running policy of cultural patronage, MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology is an international institution dedicated to arouse critical discourse and creative practice with the intent of sparking new understandings about the historical present and a responsible commitment to the future. Located on the riverfront in Lisbon’s historical Belém district, MAAT comprises a former power station built in 1908 – MAAT Central – and a contemporary building – MAAT Gallery – connected via a park that extends along the River Tagus: MAAT Garden. In addition to the programme of temporary exhibitions and activities – Agenda – the museum also features permanent exhibitions such as The Electricity Factory at Central Tejo and the sculptures in the outdoor spaces.
The Fábrica Nacional de Cordoaria, or Cordoaria Nacional, belonged to the Portuguese Navy. This was where the cables, sisal ropes, sails and flags that equipped the Portuguese ships were manufactured. The building, which dates to the 1770s, has been classified as a national monument since 1996. The art gallery, housed in the Torreão Nascente (Eastern Tower), regularly holds major exhibitions from Portuguese and international collections.
The Ponte 25 de Abril (25th of April Bridge) is an iconic suspension bridge that spans the Tagus River, connecting Portugal's capital, Lisbon, to the municipality of Almada on the south bank. It is a prominent landmark often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco due to its similar design and "International Orange" color, and was built by the same American company. Original Name: The bridge's construction began in November 1962 and it was inaugurated on August 6, 1966. It was originally named the Ponte Salazar (Salazar Bridge) in honor of António de Oliveira Salazar, Portugal's dictator at the time.
Bairro Alto is one of Lisbon’s most historic and lively neighborhoods, celebrated for its distinct day-and-night contrasts. During the day, it offers a calm atmosphere with traditional architecture, small independent shops, and colorful street art. As night falls, it comes alive as one of the city’s most popular nightlife districts, packed with bars, restaurants, and Fado houses. Perched on a hill, its narrow cobblestone streets blend residential charm with a vibrant commercial scene. Chiado, Lisbon’s perennial upmarket neighbourhood, is a place of studios, original shops, renovated spaces and marvellous pavement cafés for watching the constant coming and going of those shopping, wandering and those still trying to figure out where the river is. Baixa, more traditional and authentic, serves up souvenir shops, famous patisseries and adventurous eateries. Take your time to discover the streets and corners and all their charms.
Important commerce square in the old days is now a relaxing and beautiful square with bars, shops and an amazing view for the river.
Important castle built to defend the city. Old neighborhoods grew around it.
Alfama, the oldest and most traditional neighbourhood in Lisbon, with cobbled lanes and alleys and steep, gruelling inclines, should be discovered little by little, stopping frequently to savour the view, atmosphere and authentic spirit of the oldest side of the capital. Take a deep breath and start to climb the hill that will reveal one of the best views of the city.
Beautiful church
Almada, on the south bank of the River Tagus, has undoubtedly the best view of the city of Lisbon. The most outstanding views are from the castle, the panoramic funicular of the Boca do Vento (Mouth of the Wind), and above all the statue of Christ the King, built in 1959. In past centuries, Almada was a popular summer resort for the Court, which ordered the construction of stately homes and buildings that are still preserved in the city. Life in Almada does not revolve only around the capital, where most of its inhabitants work; it is a city with its own life, the setting for well-attended events like the Theatre Festival.

This was a great experience on an evening that looked like there would be no view of the sunset due to the clouds. However, everything cleared and we had a beautiful sunset to enjoy. Both the captain and his son were great hosts.
Relaxing night on the water in Lisbon. Excellent crew, who provided information and historical context to the sights of Lisbon and Belem, highly recommended!
Booked this tour as an add on from the Belém tour that I did previously that morning. There was some slight confusion as my booking time said 1900 and there was no meeting point on my booking but thankfully my previous tour guide was able to confirm the meeting time was actually at 18:15 and he was able to give me the location of the meeting point. Miguel and ricardo were our tour guides and they were fantastic. I sat on the very front of the boat and they would come and give me lots of information about the sites we were passing and making sure my glass was always full. They even offered to take photos for me throughout the cruise. Blankets would have been offered but unfortunately the guys forgot to check they had them on board before departure! I had planned ahead and took a jacket with me so it wasn’t too bad. Woukd definitely recommend this tour just make sure you confirm the time and location of the meeting point just incase you get the same confusion I had!
Great time in both Lisbon and Porto Food and accommodations were superior as was the hotel staff at both places Everything was easy and it all worked seamlessly
Amazing experience with the crew, boat, hygiene,
We had an amazing time on the Sunset Cruise . (Captain Martin), The views were absolutely beautiful, especially during sunset. The crew was friendly, professional, and made everyone feel welcome throughout the trip. The boat was clean, comfortable, and the entire experience was relaxing from start to finish.
We had a great night. Bennie was amazing and gave us some great history on Portugal. She was very entertaining and engaging. Would definitely recommend this excursion to family and friends. 😊😊
We had a phenomenal experience on our sunset cruise!! Our captains, Luis and Duarte were amazing, so personable, and extremely knowledgeable! They provided a wonderful experience, it was the perfect last night of our honeymoon!!
This was a great way for us to end our visit to Lisbon. We had a group of six of us and they really made the afternoon sunset cruise special. Antonio and Mateus were friendly and knowledgeable and it was a fun night. It was really great to see some of the sights from the water. I would highly recommend you sail with them!
Beautiful views but being from South Georgia USA we were cold. Crew provided blankets which made all the difference🥰
One of the best experiences of my life. Me and my girlfriend were very lucky to be the only people on the boat. The two staff members were very friendly, explained a few of the sights but were very happy to let us sit at the front of the boat in peace. They always made sure our drinks were topped up. The fee of roughly €64 each was a brilliant price for the 2 hour trip.
Fantastic sunset boat trip! The perfect way to end our family holiday. We were a group of 8 adult family members & we had the boat to ourselves! Louis & Louis (not sure on spelling) were both so friendly and welcoming, we felt right at home with them & would happily recommend their service to others. My family and I will remember the boat trip for many years to come - a definite must while in Lisbon!
We had a great time, Bemmy and Johm were friendly, informative and made the experience a highlight of our trip to Lisbon. They offered blankets if you were cold, a drink - great trip!
Fantastic 2 hour sunset cruise. Benny and John are wonderful hosts/guides.
This was one of the highlights of our recent Lisbon trip. The unique perspective of the Monuments and the shoreline from the water just can't be beat. Our crew, Miguel and Luis, were extremely well informed on Portuguese history, so the tour was interesting as well as just so much fun. The evening we sailed was absolutely perfect, with a stunning sunset. So, my review is indeed glowing, like that sunset......
If you're considering a sunset sail on the Tagus River, this is the company to go with! Benny and John were amazing. Both are so knowledgeable and passionate about everything Lisbon. This was definitely the highlight of my time spent in Lisbon and I would do it again if I had more time.
Great early evening sunset cruise with Telma and Alex! Our hosts were fantastic, the evening was gorgeous, perfect summer evening in Lisbon!
My wife and I had such an incredible and memorable experience with Lisbon Boat Tours - Palmayachts. A few of the other guests didn’t show up, so we were lucky to have the boat almost to ourselves. Captain Miguel and co-captain Andrea treated us so warmly, offering us delicious green wine and making sure we felt comfortable the whole time. They shared interesting details about the sights we passed, which made the trip feel personal and engaging. And the sunset views over the Tagus River… absolutely magical – something we will never forget. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special, relaxing, and scenic way to experience the city.
We had a lovely time. The views were gorgeous and Luiz and John were so friendly. They had great stories to tell about Lisbon and made me feel very comfortable sailing.
We had a great sail with Palma Yachts! The duo of Luis and Luis were very friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel at ease. The weather was a little rough but we felt safe the whole time. They helped us with our snacks and drinks, and provided good information about the history as we sailed along. They even had blankets as it got pretty windy and cold. Despite the weather, it was a lot of fun!!
Benny and Miguel were absolutely fantastic! Great sailors and so knowledgeable about beautiful Portugal.
What can you say about Miguel and Benny!!!!! Wonderful hosts Sailing at sunset around lisbons landmarks with great commentary and local knowledge of lisbons history Highly recommended when visiting Lisbon
Luis & Miguel were great hosts for the sunset sailboat cruise on the Tagus river in the Lisbon harbour! They provided blankets & delicious wine, and some interesting history about the Lisbon harbour
We had such a wonderful sunset tour with Palmayachts. Miguel and Benny were fantastic - they gave us insightful information on the history of Lisboa, answered all our questions, took wonderful photos of us, served delicious wine, and were so pleasant to be around. And most importantly, we felt very safe on the boat. Would definitely recommend.
Great trip with beautifull sights, the hosts Benny and Francisco were amazing! Very knowlegable and friendly - highly recommend asking for them 😀
This was a chance to sail - something we have never done before. The water was very calm and we had a great memorable experience. Lovely views of monuments and a fantastic sunset. Loads of green wine.
They sent me a text, 40 min prior departure, informing me that the they cancelled the trip; without any explanation. I guess they didn’t have enough passengers thus decided to not sail out as the costs did not weight against the benefits. In the meanwhile, they wasted our precious vacation time as it was too late to book another SUNSET trip with a competitor.
Wonderful experience with Benny and Franislo!!! They included us on their boat as we were late for our boat. They gave us lots of information and history of the area. It was very enjoyable!!! We will look them up the next trip.
The best sunset tour from historic Belém Tower. Benny & Vasco were just amazing!! Lots of historical and fun facts. So caring and knowledgeable, even catering to our 15yo son. Benny is also a fantastic photographer. Highly recommend this tour to singles or families.
Our family loved the trip and history lesson! The captain was amazing. It was the highlight of our stay in Lisbon
Great experience, amazing sunset. It was a wonderful boat and sailing experience, Luiz and Luis were fantastic! Revommend to all.
Amazing birthday, day. Beni and Francisco were so knowledgeable, funny, and excellent sailors. They made us feel welcomed, safe, appreciated. One of the best birthdays ever, I didn't tell them it was my birthday as I wanted others in the group to feel special as well. Our group was fun and interactive. Thank you Beni and Francisco, ( sorry for misspellings) for an amazing day!
Easy on, comfortable and relaxing sunset cruise with good crew. Must be able to get on and off a boat, so not for the feeble
Thé capitaine and the mouse weren’t fantastic people and the cruise has been so emotional and romantic
The crew members Luis and Luis were so friendly and welcoming and made the experience so enjoyable. I would highly recommend this cruise. The sunset was beautiful and the skipper allowed us to steer the boat and take videos.
This was a fabulous experience. It starts along at the Belem harbour opposite the monastery. Well organised, great views (many of which you need to be on the water to appreciate) but best of all was the easy way that the skipper and his crew mate just chatted away, showing great knowledge of Lisbon, of all things sailing and just being generally good company. Great value for money, entertaining, informative but, most of all, hugely enjoyable.
We took our 6 and 8 yr olds with us (sorry to crash the romantic atmosphere for couples) and they got to steer the boat. The skippers were amazing with them - we all loved it. Dress warm for this time of year though there are blankets on boat.
Just book it, you’ll have the time of your life!! Ru and his crew are so laid back and easy to be around. You’ll learn a lot (more than you think) and enjoy the sail. These guys are really sailors. You don’t putt about in a stink pot. This is the real deal!! We absolutely loved it and would do it again! OH, it’s easy to find but maybe don’t follow the map. Go to the Monument for the Discoverers in Belém (everyone knows it, we took Uber from Commerce Square). As you face it (toward the water), look to your left. You will see a lot of sailboats in a small harbor. Go toward that and to your right you will see Gate 1. This is the meeting point. Have Fun!
Great trip. Amazing sightseeing over Lisbon, Almada and bridge. The skippers were very pleasant and helpful! I highly recommend.
My mom and I really enjoyed this sail ride. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us. We were running late and they waited 10 minutes for us. Also, because we were far from the others we couldn't hear the captain, however the other crew member went out of his way to come and inform us on what the captain was saying. He also checked on us often. The pictures I took, especially of the sunset were beautiful and I was able to get great photos of other monuments. The only thing that could have improved the situation is if they had used a bigger sail boat so that we could have set with the other. But other than that, I fully recommend this sunset sailing tour.
Great trip. Guides were very friendly and informative. Yacht was fab. Saw a lot of Lisbon from the river.
Totally value for money! Amazing boat and skippers hosted us in the best possible way by telling fun facts about Lisbon and providing us own space, too. Vino Verde and blankets were also nice surprises :)
It was a unique experience for our team. This tour was just the place to relax and look into the distance where the sun has set. Great crew, friendly staff, nice service, top sail boat
I cannot recommend them enough! The service was exceptional- they made sure at all times we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We felt so taken care of and learned a lot along the way! The boat itself was lovely and it was a gorgeous night to watch the sunset. It was the best way to spend our final night in Lisbon!
We booked this on a raining day, hoping it would clear up by sunset. Thank God it did. Zé and Luis were extremely nice, we had blankets, music and wine. :) can’t wait to come back and do it again. Highly recommend.
The view was amazing from the yatch and the guide and the sailor were nice to talk nd guided us verybwell through out the tour
We really enjoyed this two hour sunset sail. Boat was captained by Jose, assisted by Bella, they were both fun, talkative, accommodating hosts. Beautiful to see Lisbon from the water. Drinks were provided (wine, beer, soda) as well as lights blankets for those who were chilled by the wind - nice touches! Jose and Bella spoke several languages so were able to explain to everyone the highlights we were passing, and answer any questions really well. Location is a little hard to find, ask taxi to drop you at giant sculpture at edge of the river at Belem port, not at the ferry station.
Really enjoyed this sailing! Very nice crew, sailing lasted more than two hours, we were offered green vine, blankets, fun stories and Lisbon history facts without any additional charge
Wonderfull, hilight of our visit to Lisbon .Great crew, very informative. Very generous with the wine!!.
