Reviews
We were slightly hesitant to book our tours in Portugal with a small, private tour company not as well known as the larger tour operators we used in the past. We decided to take a chance on Van Go Tourism based on positive reviews by other travelers. We were NOT disappointed! As part of the planning process, Margarida knew we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and kindly suggested we modify our “walking” tour of Lisbon to a walking tour with transport which we did. We truly appreciated her insight and perceptiveness in helping us plan our itinerary as first- time, older visitors to Lisbon. She was always quick to respond to our questions and concerns. The half-day tour of Lisbon was incredible with Nuno as our guide, driver, and magician … his perfect parking into the tiniest space kept us entertained in the back seat. His talent was also enjoyed by a group of tourists on the street watching Nuno maneuver out of the tightest parking space with minimal effort to which we heard them exclaim “That was awesome!” That is the best way to summarize our first half day tour with Nuno … simply AWESOME!
Excellent tour and excellent guide
Nino was the best guide. He took us to the best places in Lisbon. He structured the tour with the small group we were in mind. Some were unable to do every thing so he adjusted. I don’t think we missed anything.
Our guide, Nuno was excellent. He was knowledgeable and made the extra effort to make us feel comfortable. A very pleasurable tour.
We had a wonderful time spending the day and exploring Lisbon with Miguel and Joseph! Miguel was extremely knowledgeable and told us a lot of history about the monuments we visited. Joseph was our driver for the day and also shared history while also ensuring our safety as he brought us to and from the monuments. Overall a wonder tour where we learned a lot while having fun thanks to Miguel and Joseph.
Miguel was the most awesome tour guide we’ve ever had!!! He is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and history of Lisbon, Portugal and the history of the people that live here. The tour was amazing and he knew all the secret ins and outs to skip all the lines. Truly amazing!!!!
We thank Suzanna for the most wonderful experience! My son Brian and I loved her. Great personality and so interesting! She sure knows Lisbon and its history!
Best day in Lisbon ever. Our guide, Susana, was awesome with a capital A. We got to see the main points in the city, plus she took us on some behind the scenes areas and views that really made the day special. More importantly, she is one of the nicest, professional, and knowledgeable people you will ever meet. Great day.
Susanna was energetic, informative and fun! She definitely knew her stuff! She showed us all the sites and helped us to take great pictures!
My wife and I had Joao for the entire day and he provided us with a wonderful overview of Lisbon including Belem and the magnificent St. Jeronimos Monastery. Also a tour of Alfama, Baxia, Chiado and other sites. A trip well worth the price.
We loved Miguel’s knowledge of Lisbon and Sintra. The castle tour was our favourite. He was so approachable, friendly and easygoing with all the little changes along the way. Got a chance to try some ginja too! Not only was he knowledgeable with history, we had some good discussions about football. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a private tour.
We had an amazing time with Miguel! He was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied. We were very glad we booked this tour.
We are so happy to have chosen this company for a private tour of the city!. It was a great experience thanks to our wonderful guide Susana, who oganized everything perfectly. I Cannot say enough good things about Susana. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and acommodating. We feel this was well worth it. We highly reccomend this tour for anyone who wants to get to know the city's rich history and culture. We will definitely use this company again, and will ask for Susana.
Fantastic- this was our second tour with Susana and it was colorful, fun, amazing and tasty! Her skill in navigating the tiny streets in her spacious van was also jaw dropping! She took us to the best views, and gave us choices to ensure our day was customized for us, our abilities and our physical situation (we were not in shape!). We saw so much, and even took her advice on where to return on our non tour days. You can tell she studies each part of the tour like a scholar, bringing feeling to how the citizens felt about each stage of history and each site. Do not go to Lisbon without a guide to orient you! Avoid driving, entrance hassles and wasting time by hiring Susana!
Susanna was such a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun guide!! Had an amazing time touring Sintra and Lisbon!
We had an incredible tour with Susana. Her passion and knowledge for Lisbon shone through. She was flexible if we wanted to stay linger, equally as flexible if something didn't work out and she had to reroute us. Absolutely recommend, especially for day 1 or if you are time poor.
Susana is such an engaging tour guide who passionately shares historic and local insights about Lisbon. In the 8 hours I spent with her on my Day 1 of my trip, I have had a rich experience of Lisbon that I will never forget. Thank you very much Susana.
Enjoy the rich history of the city, specially with Susana. She explain me all the details of the history of all monuments we passed by, giving me the possibility of a guided visit in the monuments I most liked. We visited Lisbon city centre and the old neighborhoods, and lunch in the marine of Docas and visited Belem in the afternoon, where we tasted a pastel de Belém paired with a glass of white Porto.
My wife and I arranged to spend the day with Susana sightseeing outside of Lisbon and were extremely happy that we did. She planned our itinerary carefully and was knowledgeable, flexible, patient, and delightful to be with. She went out of her way to make sure we had a great day. We would highly recommend her as a guide for anyone coming to the Lisbon area.
Quality, timeliness, kindness, knowledge and a unique experience, we loved Portugal!!! Our guide Susanita was too patient and showed us the corners of a charming and safe country.
We had a great time thanks to Susanna. Extremely cultivated, knowing perfectly each site, with the big and small history, the backstage, the historical dimension but also artistic, architectural, cultural! And always with a smile and joy! Susanna adapted to our desires, needs and rhythm (with 4 teenagers!!!), always listening, adaptable and full of good ideas. Thank you so much!
We really liked the private guided tours organized by VanGo Tours in the areas of 1) Bethlehem and 2) Castle of St. George and Alfama.

He took us to each and every place and explained padrisimo aside us I took what to eat a delicious place and leave us where we ask Also thank Margarida our contact who was always attentive to our arrival where we were going to be picked up and schedule Thank you!!!!
I thought I didn't need a guide to review Portugal. Susana, in her comfortable van, made the difference by following us through Lisbon, Vale do Douro and Porto. Always kind and ready to attend; it led us to the best points of interest; it made us travel through the history of Portugal. You booked excellent restaurants and intimate bars to hear the Fado. These were unforgettable moments.
