We had the most wonderful day with João! I’d reached out to him directly and coordinated everything, and I could tell from the excellent communication that this was going to be a well organized and fun tour, and it certainly was! He picked us up at our hotel and reviewed what we had and hadn’t seen in Lisbon so he could be sure to complement our experience. And complement he did! He took us to all the most beautiful vistas and squares, providing an informative and entertaining overview of each, interspersed with his personal experience as a young person in Lisbon. He did indeed have cordials for every stop, and they were all delicious. There was also seemingly bottomless wine and champagne as well as beer and cups with lids for the sometimes bumpy ride in the back of the jeep. Our three hour tour flew by and ended by he water in Belem with the most delectable picnic - all prepared by João before he’d picked us up. What a talented, delightful and entrepreneurial guide! There’s no better way to see Lisbon.

Itinerary
Construction began in 1934 after a visit to Brazil by the Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, who was reportedly impressed by the imposing image of Christ the Redeemer on Rio de Janeiro. At 110 meters high, the Cristo-Rei Sanctuary became a historical reference in spirituality during the first half of the 20th century. Currently, the monument is a place of prayer and a beautiful viewpoint over the capital. There are those who say that the statue was built in fulfillment of a vow formulated by the Portuguese Episcopate that asked "to God that Portugal did not participate in the Second World War". The Cardinal affirms, before the crowd, that this monument will forever signify the gratitude of the Portuguese people for the peace that had been offered to them. This monument, is one of the biggest and iconic symbols that enhance and decorate the metropolis. In where we are going to have a drink tasting experience. 10 year Moscatel and 10 years Madeira wine tasting
The construction of the Portuguese empire required that the entrance to the Tagus be properly protected and ensure a military rhetoric translated into an effective and dissuasive defense system. Its grandeur and importance should have been enough to send a clear signal to the other European powers and their fleets that the river was protected and under control. In this way, under the direction of King D. João II, the defense of the mouth of the Tagus river was organised. The system conceived at the time was intended to ensure coverage of the Tagus bar by artillery fire, which represented a significant technological advance. The place chosen for the building of the main defense of the bar, to the north and south, would have to be located at the precise point where the Tagus is narrowest. Where we are going to make a drink tasting.
Opened in 1882, this park, originally called Parque da Liberdade, is located opposite Avenida da Liberdade. In 1903, the name was changed in honor of the King of England, who visited Portugal with the aim of strengthening the Luso-British alliance. It has one of the best views over the city. The S. Gens site - also known as Monte de S. Gens - is a very ancient place of worship, and it is likely that the little chapel there is of Visigoth origin, if not Paleochristian. Its current formulation dates from 1796, having been reconstructed after the Earthquake. Inside, on the right side of the church, protected by a wooden door that leads to a small cubicle, is the famous chair of St. Gens on which, according to legend, the holy bishop, the first bishop, would have sat. of the city, about 290 A.D. It is a marble monolith, polished and ergonomically shaped, worn by time and where pregnant women usually sit, praying to ask for a good delivery. It is probably the most magnifecent view point of the city. We are going to have were one of the drink tastings. Drink tasting experience.
Parque das Nações is located in an area of Lisbon that was completely rehabilitated to host the 1998 World Exhibition, dedicated to the theme "The Oceans". Before there was a Parque das Nações or an International Expo in Lisbon, the eastern part of the capital was a completely different scenario. Expo 98 was one of the most important events in the city's history and was even considered by the Bureau International des Expositions itself as the best international exhibition ever. Natural sources, although abundant especially in the oldest part of Lisbon, were not enough to provide water for the entire population. Concerns about the city's hygiene were growing and, in the reign of King João V, the situation was close to collapse. The population flocked to the old fountains, where disputes continued, sometimes with great violence. The cost of obtaining water, often referred to by foreigners who visited Lisbon, was enormous and the water carriers reached extremes of speculation. In 1731, King D. João V. ordered the construction of the Águas Livres Aqueduct. With the aim of bringing water from Sintra to the Mãe d'Água Reservoir, which stored and distributed it to all the fountains and fountains in the city. Just passing.
Built with the deck 70 meters high, which houses the road and railway routes, and with the main pillars of the bridge reaching a height of 190 meters, this completely changes the relationship between the two banks. The new bridge has completely changed the territory and the skyline of Lisbon and the Tagus estuary, it is the crown of the city and one of the great symbols of the progress of the city and the country, which are modernizing at its expense.
It was here that Vasco da Gama attended mass before leaving with his fleet to discover the sea route to India. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. The Jerónimos Monastery is one of the most beautiful and imposing monuments of Manueline architecture in Lisbon. The monument, in lias limestone, was built from 1501 onwards, at the request of King Manuel I, for the members of his dynasty to gather there. Construction was subsidized by revenues from trade in Africa and the East. Just passing by.
The original building of Padrão dos Descobrimentos was erected in 1940, on the occasion of the Exhibition of the Portuguese World. This monument, dedicated to the Portuguese Discoveries, has the stylized shape of a caravel with 33 figures linked, directly or indirectly, to the Discoveries. The Padrão was erected as part of the commemorations of the 5th centenary of the death of Infante D. Henrique and inaugurated in 1960. Decorating the access yard to this monument, there is a compass rose, in marble, containing the main routes of the Discoveries portuguese.
Luís Vaz de Camões was an extraordinary poet, becoming one of the most important references of literature in the Portuguese language. He was in India and Macau and was the victim of a shipwreck, during which he lost all his possessions, saving himself by swimming with the manuscript of Os Lusíadas. When he returned to Portugal, in 1569, he prepared the publication of Os Lusíadas, an epic poem dedicated to King D. Sebastião. The Monument to Camões, inaugurated in 1867, is the first monument of urban sculpture to be erected in Lisbon, after the Equestrian Statue in Praça do Comércio.
Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo (1699-1782), who became known by the name Marquês de Pombal, was appointed Minister of the Kingdom by King José I. On November 1, 1755, a violent earthquake devastated the lower part of the city of Lisbon. The Marquês de Pombal took immediate action: he ordered the dead to be buried and the wounded to be helped; he ordered the city to be watched to prevent thefts and commissioned a team of architects to draw up a plan for the reconstruction of the city. This is how, less than a year after the calamity, Lisbon was already partially rebuilt.
It is one of the oldest and busiest in Lisbon. This square, where fairs, bullfights, festivals, popular revolutions and uprisings of faith were held, was largely destroyed during the 1755 earthquake. Several buildings disappeared almost completely, resulting in subsequent reconstruction with new Pombaline buildings and a rectangular square. In 1846, construction began on the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, which would embellish the square with an imposing facade in neo-Paladian style. In the center, a statue of D. Pedro IV, the first emperor of independent Brazil, was placed.
Built in 1147, this religious building is the most important in the city Built over a Muslim mosque, after the conquest of Lisbon. Its architecture is inspired by the Romanesque Cathedral of Coimbra, visible on the façade with two bell towers, reminiscent of a kind of fortress, as well as the magnificent rose window in the centre. However, the current cathedral presents a mixture of styles, due to the successive modifications it has undergone over time, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. The most precious piece is the chest that contains the remains of St. Vincent, patron saint of the city.
The temple has a plan in the shape of a Greek cross and is topped by a majestic dome. Considered the most beautiful Baroque monument in the city, in 1916 it became the National Pantheon, where some of the great figures of Portuguese history lie. Amália Rodrigues, Eusébio, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Almeida Garrett.
Terreiro do Paço, current Praça do Comércio was built in 1515, nicknamed as a reference to the Royal Palace that King D. Manuel King of Portugal had built there for the royal residence. Already since the century. During the 15th century, at the time of the discoveries, this was a central point of Lisbon life, where processions, acts of faith, bullfights, markets and festivities took place. Since then it has continued to be one of the most important seats of power in Portugal. In 1775, with the earthquake that devastated the then Terreiro do Paço, this was transformed and gave way to Praça do Comércio, with its rigid and upright geometry that exists today. As part of the reconstruction plan for Baixa de Lisboa, carried out by Marquês de Pombal after the earthquake.
In this place, countless vessels will be built over the centuries, including ships that were protagonists in the famous Portuguese maritime discoveries, and that boosted the phenomenon of globalization. Today it is a kind of extension of Terreiro do Paço as it connects it to the Tagus River.
The palace maintained the role of Royal House until the establishment of the Republic in 1910, when it became the official residence of the Head of State. Although not all presidents reside in the palace, it has been used to receive political and state visits. Whenever the President of the Republic is present, a green flag with the national coat of arms is hoisted.
During EXPO'98, the building was designated Pavilhão da Utopia, then Pavilhão Atlântico and now Altice arena after the naming rights were purchased by the telecommunications company. The shape also refers to the horseshoe crab, which represents the oldest animal group that still lives on Earth. The wooden beams that support the roof make the interior look like the hull of a ship, namely that of an inverted 16th century ship.
Lisbon Oceanarium originally Pavilhão dos Oceanos It was built and inaugurated within the framework of Expo 98, the last world exhibition of the 20th century, with the theme "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future". It is a reference public aquarium in Lisbon, Portugal and the world, being considered the second largest aquarium in Europe. It annually receives about 1 million visitors, which makes it the most visited cultural facility in Portugal.

Amazing trip with João who was a great tour guide. It was the highlight of our break. Saw loads of Lisbon with unlimited drinks and excellent food. The jeep was a great way to see the different landmarks. 10/10 experience and would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun way to see Lisbon.
Where do I start?! Joao arrived promptly to pick us up at our hotel. He discussed what we had already seen and then filled in the gaps with his tour. Each stop involved a different Portuguese drink and he constantly kept us topped up with wine, beer and anything we wanted to drink. He stopped at a Pastel de Nata shop to buy us one that he thinks is the best in Lisbon. The food he provided was amazing and he was just the loveliest guide and person we have met on our trip. Nothing was too much trouble and I would thoroughly recommend everyone who visits Lisbon to do this tour as it is amazing value for money for what you receive and would do again just for his hospitality the next time we visit! Thanks Joao you deserve all your success as work so hard and we will definitely be booking again!
This was the perfect blend of history and sightseeing. Our guide was incredible and covered a lot of ground. The food he prepared for us was delicious. And lots of fun beverages to enjoy.
Wonderful 3 hour tour of Lisbon for our family group of 6 - Joao shared so much knowledge of the city for us to really appreciate its history, people and culture - and had loads of fun and laughs on the way! Highly recommend this tour if you are spending any time in Lisbon!!
We really enjoyed our foodie jeep tour - going around Lisbon with a top down vehicle, music full blast and going through historical buildings in narrow streets while tasting the best local cheese, tapas, pastries, port, liquor and wine and hitting the best viewpoints - how can we not enjoy?
I had an amazing time with my tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about Lisbon. He provided a map for me to understand the areas we were going to tour. Our tour went over time it was so enjoyable. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone traveling solo or small groups. The owner was extremely professional and knowledgeable! I enjoyed the drinks during my ride. I recommend booking every time you go to Lisbon for a more personal experience!
We have visited Lisbon before and have done many types of experiences, but this one quickly rose to the top of our favorites. The jeep was able to take us to locations a Tuk Tuk couldn’t and our guide Joao was so much fun to be with. If you want to have lots of fun, definitely book this !
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7 Stars if we could!) Our Food & Wine Tour in Lisbon was nothing short of extraordinary. From the incredible local charcuterie and outstanding wines and liquors to the fascinating history and culture woven throughout the experience, every moment exceeded our expectations. What truly made this tour unforgettable was our guide, Joao. His knowledge, professionalism, passion, and warm personality transformed a great tour into an exceptional one. He made every stop engaging, enjoyable, and unique, sharing insights that only a true local expert could provide. Joao's enthusiasm for Lisbon is contagious, and his ability to connect with people made us feel like we were exploring the city with a longtime friend. Thanks to him, we experienced Lisbon in a way we never could have on our own. We wholeheartedly recommend Joao to anyone visiting Lisbon now or in the future. If you're planning a tour of this beautiful city, he's the guide you want by your side. If we could give him 7 stars, we absolutely would! Thank you again, Joao, for an unforgettable experience. — Al & Marie
He cancelled the tour with only a day's notice. No explanation and was still operating other tours. Had the tour booked for months and now not many options. Terrible start to our vacation. Use extreme caution.
You cancelled my tour booked through Viator within 24 hours with no explanation. They tried to contact you and couldn’t. I had this booked weeks in advance, I am on a cruise ship and cannot find an alternative excursion at this short notice. If I cancel within 24 hours and cannot make it you take all my money, you can do this and I get a refund only, thanks so much. Disgusting service, hugely disappointing!
Today’s tour was absolutely wonderful. My guide was professional, patient, and very knowledgeable. I felt completely comfortable and well taken care of. The experience was informative, fun, and thoughtfully organized. I truly appreciated the genuine kindness and attention to detail. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Portugal!
We had an incredible Jeep tour in Lisbon with our guide, Joao! He took us to fantastic viewpoints and key sights throughout the city, all while sharing fascinating historical and architectural insights that really brought Lisbon to life. One of the highlights was getting to sample local liqueurs along the way—such a fun and authentic touch. Joao also made sure we were well taken care of with plenty of refreshments, including beer, wine, and water. Beyond the tour itself, he gave us wonderful recommendations on places to visit, things to do, and where to eat, which truly enhanced the rest of our trip. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this tour—and Joao—to anyone visiting Lisbon!
Excellent host, driver, and cook! Go Joe Experience is customized to your liking. We saw all of Lisbon in 5 hours!
João gave us an amazing tour of the city, including many of the places where "tram 28" goes and a trip across the bridge to view the "Christ the King" monument and lunch(our cost) at a seaside restaurant. Before the tour he asked us if we had any places we wanted to see. Our tour listed as a 6 hour tour but we ended up with a 8 hour tour. Our tour started at 8:30 am so we did not take him up on his offers of different alcoholic drinks until later in the tour. We did eventually taste some ginja (sour cherry liqueur), almond liqueur and vinho verde. He provided us with more information than we could absorb. He covered everything from history to architecture and traditional foods. He introduced us to the famous custard tarts. He capped the tour off by making a reservation for us to enjoy some Fado music.
Our guide was knowledgeable, fun, and made history come alive as we cruised the city. The food and drinks were incredible, the views stunning, and every detail (from pick-up to personalized touches) made this tour stand out over the others.
Our guide was amazing. Great way to be introduced to Lisbon. He had a lot of knowledge of the history and architecture of the city. Great charcuterie and wine, including a treat from his family‘s vineyard. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone coming to Lisbon
João was a wonderful tour guide. It was the perfect balance of a historical tour and fun! I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. 10/10
We booked this as a fun, spontaneous addition to our trip instead of the Tuktuks and WOW were we happy we did. The tour guide was informative, fun and flexible. This tour has everything: views of Portugal you didn’t know existed, local wine, cheese and pastries, and a knowledgeable tour guide! A group of three 26 year old girls had the time of their lives and would recommend it to all!
Great trip, great long drive. We saw everything in Lisbon in our day tour of Lisbon. We would highly recommend him to others.
Real vintage jeep, desert wine tasting, tapas and a fun time. More than expected for kids and adults.
Put it this way, I know more about Lisbon than my home town - we all had a great day and saw all the sites in this vibrant city, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend GoJoe
It was such a great day out from the start - we were picked up from the front door of our hotel & took us back at the end to our door. Drinks on board the jeep & his knowledge of the city was fantastic and very informative plus lots of stops for photo opportunities. We had lunch provided with more drinks & great views over Lisbon. Even took photos of us and printed them out - I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone it was simply the best.
We took Joao's day trip around Lisbon and it was unbelievable. Myself and three friends spent 9 hours in the back of an open top top Jeep and visited all the major sights around Lisbon (bridges, Christ the King, Belem, Stadium of Light, Cathedrals, Aqueduct... ) and if there's somewhere else you want to go, Joao will take you there. On the way we stopped three of four times (usually within sight of something special) to sample loads of Portuguese drink (from various liquors to local wines - beer in the Jeep too!). We also tasted some fantastic, homemade, Portuguese food - The chocolate salami is out of this world (it's not salami in chocolate by the way!!) - along with plates of Portuguese cheese and meat. Finished the day off with local gin and tonic in the central park in Lisbon. For anyone who wants to see Lisbon with someone who can tell you all about the history of the city and the buildings and everything else that you see on the way, then this is the perfect package. On the face of it you may (like us) think that it sounds expensive but you will not come back disappointed, this trip is worth every penny. We were so full of food when we finished (and drink - if you know what I mean!) that we couldn't eat that night. I've been lucky enough to go to over 100 European towns and cities in the last 20 years and I had been to Lisbon before (my friends hadn't) and this is genuinely the best thing I ever done in any of those places. 100% recommended! Thank you again for a great day Joao.
Amazing experience! Great plan to spend the afternoon with friends and get to know Lisbon at the same time :) 100% recommended!
Amazing trip with just the right amount of information by João, our guide. The food and drinks were amazing!
Amazing and elaborated food, great Portuguese wine and best tour guide ever! Very complete itinerary. I would definitely repeat it!
Definitly one of the most complete and fun experiences when visiting Lisbon! João is a native local guide, and it's evident that he loves to share everything he knows about this wonderful city. The itinerary seemed very comprehensive to me, and the tasting menu was absolutely extraordinary. It was a fantastic day spent with friends!
Very good!!! Great day. Everything very good!!!! Mr Moreira thank you! We went 6 friends and loved it.
Loved the night tour and our guide Joao so much, had to come back for a day tour of Lisbon! Also amazing to see the city and its amazing light and life in broad daylight. So glad we took the tour in a convertible jeep! Best option if you don't want to lose a bit of this amazing city. Strongly recommend!!
João is the most wonderful guide to Portuguese food and wine, great locations in Lisbon (as well as its the outskirts) and the city’s history. The tour has all the ammenites one can think of. Touring in a portuguese-made jeep while tasting flavours from north to sout is the fullest local experience I could ever think of. Great job! Worth every penny

It was a wonderful trip to Lisbon. Joao besides showing us very nice spots in this amazing city he also gave us an historic perspective of the different places, all of this in a wonderful vintage portugueses jeep. Besides this he also treated us to some portuguese delights. We really enjoyed the tour and would do it again in a heartbeat!
