A very fulfilling afternoon! We started by shopping at the Mercado a Janeiro, the largest market for Chefs in Lisbon, for all of our fresh vegetables, cheeses and fish as Angela pointed out important Portugese food facts. Once back at the kitchen, she explained a lot about the Portugese food culture as our small group of 5 moved along collectively from one recipe to the next. She even taught each of us how to filet sardines and sea bream. Our menu of traditional favorites was Tomato Peach Gazpacho, Grilled fresh Sardines, a gorgeous fresh tomato and fig salad, Cataplana, Clams with peppers, and a wonderful orange sponge cake. We all felt it was very informative, and an inviting space with plenty of apps and wine paired with our delicious meal! Ask for Angela when you book!
Great experience Sylvia the chef was friendly and knowledgeable All students participated with hands on tasks.
Great experience loved every second of it!!
The class was nice, but I didn't feel it was worth the cost. Most participants, including myself and my husband, knew our way around the kitchen and had cooking experience as we have prepared food all of our adult lives. I did not feel like I learned about the "soul" of Portuguese cooking ; about what makes it unique and special. Upon starting, there was one bottle of wine for twelve of us to split until dinner. The location is a bit out of the way as well. If you are looking for an authentic- learning from/in grandma's kitchen this is not the class.
Angela was a great host. I enjoyed taking this class. After being on vacation for the last 8 days it was nice to get in the kitchen and cook a homemade meal. I can’t wait to go home and make this for my family.
Renata was a great instructor and chef. She explained our cooking process and got everyone involved. We made several dishes including peri peri chicken, Bacalhau, caldo verde soup and many side dishes. Dessert was amazing as well. Our class chatted with each other while we cooked which made for a fun evening.
It was a great night of cooking, drinking and socializing. We had a lot of fun. Highly recommend it
This was AMAZING! I highly recommend going to this if you can find the time.... I mean, you have got to eat and what is better than learning some new foods, new ideas, new techniques along with a good meal!
Fantastic evening with a great chef! A good way to learn about food and traditions. Very professional and well organized for a delightful experience from welcome wine and snacks through the meal prep and group dinner. Everyone was involved and having fun. Don’t miss this one
Cooking Lisbon chef team was the best! They accommodated all our families food allergies so that we all could enjoy the Portuguese cooking. We appreciate all the recipes and can’t wait to make at home. Highly recommend this experience. Thank you Cooking Lisbon team!
This took place a while ago, but it’s taking me some time to leave a review because the instructor said to not say anything negative in a review. My experience was negative. I went as a solo female by myself. The class was all older women except for one older male who is married to one of the women. All the older women would chat amongst themselves, and I felt excluded due to being mid 20s. I think the man in the group saw this and decided to have a conversation with me as he was also excluded from the group of women. One of the women obviously got jealous that her husband was talking to me and started doing catty things like take pictures of me and him (telling us to pose and smile) acting as though she wanted to “save the memory”. It was all very odd and she would say thing like “gee you really like eachother”. The instructor did nothing. The instructor was very belittling to me. He could see that I was clearly by myself and whenever I tried to talk to somebody would cut me off and tell me to pay attention. I did not learn any cooking skills. He belittled me for not knowing what serate the knife meant. Most of the food was fried that we cooked and by the time we ate it, it was all cold. I was told at the end of the experience that if I didn’t have anything positive to say to not leave a review. I think that it’s unprofessional to try to silence somebody’s opinion.
Three courses doesn't describe it. Chef Catarina had a station/cutting board for each of us and we made lots of salads, sauces, mayonnaise, tempura, cod, chicken, gizzards, tomato rice, and a "floating cloud" dessert. The wines and appetizers kept us going and we had a blast. A birthday was celebrated. The night was a huge success.
As described and better. History, demonstration, eating, drinking, and just a great activity to celebrate Portugal
A wonderful class and instructor. Angela is great. We learned a lot, made delicious food, had a fun, relaxing experience.
This was such a fun night! The food was excellent. Lots of hands-on experience even with a bigger group.
The cooking class was great! Our Chef was very knowledgeable and walked us through an entire meal from soup to dessert. The ingredients were fresh, the wine was great and our meal was perfect.
Good learning experience combined with delicious foods and tasty wines. Nice, well prepared staff, telling interesting informations about Portugese gasztronomy and history.
Simply fabulous and the evening was wonderful. The dishes made were authentic and so very tasty. Thank you Chef!
We had six people and 6 others joined us. It was too many people to ensure that all were kept busy cooking. Very, very expensive for the experience and instruction we received. The chef was very good and recipes good as well.
Philipa was a delight and very knowledgeable. The cooking experience was authenticly frenetic and a lot of fun! We learned some history, some culture and of course, gastronomy. We really enjoyed the company of our classmates who were mostly from the US and Canada. Highly recommended!
Excellent experience with an experienced teacher. She communicated and engaged me in the style of home-cooking which allows me to adjust recipes in my home country (based on availability of ingredients).
Missed a proper introduction of fellow participants, wherethey come from etc. We statted cooking immediately. Wowee
This experience was awesome, fun, and tasty! Our instructor was clear and a lot of fun. We made a complete meal that was delicious!
Great experience! Renata was such a great teacher - we had SO much fun and it has been one of the highlights of our visit to Portugal so far! We had a group of 7 students and it was the perfect size class. Well done from start to finish. Highly recommended!!!
This was a highlight of our trip. There were 3 total participants in our class as a group of 5 cancelled at the last minute. We enjoyed the cooking and learning. I made cod fritters (wow) ! Everyone cooked more than one dish, from the prepping to the actual cooking. Our Chef Instructor - Guilardo, provided us a rich experience from the conversation to the cooking - Thank you. The facility is a professional cooking school, with excellent tools.
This was an amazing cooking experience! Pedro our Chef was fantastic! This was a coking class where everyone got the chance to work on making a dish and cook. Pedro was very informative and walked us thru how to make everything. We made a three course meal that was delicious. When we arrived we were greeted with wine, a variety of cheese and jam as well as olives and bread and sausage.
So fun and a great learning experience about the food and culture of Portugal! Our chef was so kind and made you feel welcomed into the class!
9 participants each with a dish. Soup, salad, cod fritters, piri piri chicken, gizzard stew, dessert. Food, wine, teamwork and conversation over a communal meal. A great evening.
We had Guy who taught our class of 8, two couples and one family with adult kids. There was unlimited wine and water along with tapas-like snacks to start. Each person chose a station like cutting veggies or deboning fish and then we all worked together in a sequence to get the food prepared. Guy has a lot of experience doing this so somehow the schedule all worked despite 8 people preparing and cooking at once lol. The food we ate was so delicious, maybe the best on the trip, and is one of our favorite memories of Lisbon.
This was a great class in cooking and understanding truly traditional Portuguese food. There were six of us in this particular class, and we all had a job to do in preparing our meal. It was very relaxed, great fun, and food is always a good way of bringing people together. Fillipa has a genuine enthusiasm about her food. Don’t be looking for Portuguese Fish Soup and Paste del Nata, this is authentic and you’ll learn lot.
This was a really fun experience. Renata is a perfect person to lead these classes, and she made the cooking memorable. The food turned out great
Excellent experience. It was a lot of laughs and I learned so much. A great group of people led by an excellent teacher, who was able to manage all of the different dishes, while making sure we all got the valuable lessons in making them.
It was a great experience! I highly recommend it!👍. We went as a family and it was a very good experience! It was truly a very good experience!
Fabulous facilities; very well organised to involve the whole group; excellent recipes and fab food to eat. Chef very generous and very skilled while also keeping the experience entertaining. Highly recommend. I have been cooking for nearly 60 years and consider myself competent but learnt valuable techniques.
My wife and I joined this class. We were part of a small class of only 6. Our Chef instructor was the best. Gave us great direction and guidance. Would recommend this class to anyone interested in an experience of cooking Portuguese dishes.
We had an amazing evening at Cooking Lisbon. Learnt so much. Beautiful dishes. Stunning food. Thank you to Gi. Wonderful chef and teacher.
If you’re visiting Lisbon and looking for a unique, hands-on experience, this Portuguese cooking class is an absolute must! My son and I had the most wonderful time learning to cook traditional Portuguese dishes, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The facility itself is stunning—beautifully designed, with a spacious and well-equipped kitchen that made cooking such a pleasure. There’s also a lovely lobby area where you can browse and purchase great souvenirs to remember your experience. Our host and chef was beyond amazing—kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took his time explaining each dish thoroughly and shared fascinating history and cultural insights about Portuguese cuisine. His passion for cooking was contagious, and he made sure that everyone in the class felt comfortable and engaged. We got to prepare a delicious three-course meal, experiencing firsthand the flavors and techniques of Portuguese cooking. And as a special touch, we received beautiful aprons with the company logo as a souvenir, making this experience even more memorable. Above all, this class was such a special bonding experience for me and my son. It was the perfect mix of fun, learning, and amazing food, and we walked away with both great memories and new cooking skills. Highly, highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Lisbon—whether you’re a foodie, a home cook, or just looking for a fantastic way to immerse yourself in Portuguese culture. A truly five-star experience!
Had a wonderful experience cooking Portuguese food with our Chef. Food and wine were excellent and Pedro made it very fun for myself and my wife. Would do again!
A fabulous evening! Thank you Pedro for your knowledge, patience and guidance. You are a great teacher! Our family had a lot of fun creating a delicious, traditional Portuguese meal. Recommended!
Cooking Lisbon...Filipe Cordeiro owner! A great experience last night making new friends and enjoying delicious food and wine. A culinary adventure.
Great experience our chef G was so great. We learned about local dishes and the local history. The meal was incredible and we were all cooking .
We'd highly recommend this class! As it was December, there were only 4 of us, so it was very hands on. Gi (the chef/teacher) was brilliant - really down-to-earth, friendly and knowledgeable. The dishes tasted great and there was wine and nibbles available whilst we were prepping the meal. On top of that, the other couple doing the class were lovely! All-in-all, a great evening and a highlight of our trip. They emailed out the recipes after the class so we'll be trying them at home for sure :)
The atmosphere and experience were fantastic! Pedro was an excellent instructor, and the hands-on cooking was a lot of fun. The food was delicious as well.
It was exceptional with so much food that I was surprised! A lot more than I expected and we got to focus on cooking one individual thing at a time 10 out 10 recommend
What a truly great evening. Our chef, Padro, was so welcoming, kind, fun and kept us all on task. Everyone got to share in the preparation and cooking. The mood was very informal and all the participants mingled and chatted throughout the evening. A great way to experience Portuguese cooking, food and wine.
This was one of the highlights of our Portugal trip. There were 13 of us including the instructor. First, verde wine and snacks to keep our strength up. Then the instructor explained what was on the menu for the evening. She was able to make adjustments to accommodate food allergies. We all chose which food item to work on. Our instructor was patient, informative, and kind. Imagine having 12 people asking you questions all night! Yet she ran the kitchen like a fine tuned machine. At the end we all sat down to enjoy the fruitage of our labor family style. It was a great evening! I would highly recommend this class. Oh, and all the food was delicious. We did good.😊
Pedro was great. We learned a lot. The dishes were very tasty and we're definitely going to try that at home. The little snacks and wine is a very appreciated bonus.
The small group setting and accessibility of this experience, alongside spectacular, expert guidance makes this cooking class so memorable. Add to that fabulous food that wonderful chefs guide the group to prepare well, and you have a perfect experience. Our leader from Cooking Lisbon, chef Gi, with the assistance of Fernanda, made for a spectacular, hands-on experience that offers patience, guidance, and a wonderful energy throughout the evening. Highly recommend this experience!
This was a great experience. Pedro made us very comfortable and gave us a lot of information about cuisine in Portugal. He helped the group to get to know each other and work together. We loved it.
