I’m glad I took this motor coach tour instead of the TukTuk tour. Much safer. The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and he gave cogent answers to my questions about Portuguese history. I felt confident as he navigated Lisbon’s narrow, hilly streets. The tour provided a fine introduction to Lisbon and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about this lovely city with a rich, complex history.

Itinerary
Start your day with an amazing view of Old Lisbon, and learn about the first people that inhabited this region, even before the formation of Portugal.
On this second stop, observe the areas where the city grew to and listen to the History of the Christian Reconquer of the city, by our first King Afonso Henriques, in 1147.
Visit Lisbon Cathedral, built immediately after Christians took Lisbon, in 1147 and admire the church’s intricate stained glass rose window, reconstructed with fragments from the original, while learning about the reconstruction performed just last century.
Walk down and zigzag through crooked cobblestone streets lined with quaint cafes in Alfama, while breading and feeling the atmosphere of the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon.
Marvel at the stately Jerónimos Monastery, a national architectural treasure and visit its Church, where the tombs of Vasco da Gama and Luís de Camões rest among Kings and Queens and their family.
Have lunch in Belém, while having enough free time to enjoy the area, where you can shop, visit museums or just enjoy a sunny day. Sample a traditional "Pastel de Belém" custard tart (included).
Head riverside to visit Belém Tower’s stone fortress, learning some more about the expansion of the city and the need to defend its entrance from the sea. Photo stop (visit not included).
Visit the Monument to the Age of Discoveries, a celebration of this period of Portuguese History, while listening to your guide telling you about the Discoveries process, while admiring the beautiful engraving in the ground facing the monument.
Finish your tour in the Chiado neighborhood, and learn about Lisbon’s reconstruction following the devastating earthquake of 1755. Return to your hotel, or acquaint yourself with Lisbon’s nightlife from this prime locale.

It was a fantastic experience! Our guide Joanna gave us a complete tour of every monument, places for great photos, and she took us to the best places to shop and eat! The ride was very comfortable, and she had water and local pastries as a treat!
It was great tour. Nuno is absolutely best! Well planned, executed! Highly recommended! Covered most recommended points.
We were picked up right on time at our hotel by our guide, Thiago. Every site he took us to was amazing and made extra meaningful with the addition of his extensive knowledge of the history of the area. We felt that the day gave us a great overview of Lisbon and all its charms. We also enjoyed the origin story of the famous custard tart. There is no doubt that our guide’s professionalism and knowledge were key to our enjoyment of the day. He was very pleasant and attentive to each guests needs and made sure everyone had a great day. Thank you Thiago, hope to see you again when we return to Portugal! We highly recommend this tour, especially if you are lucky enough to have a guide like Thiago!
Great overview of the history of Lisbon. Our guide was a wonderful historian with solid English. She was able to explain the city. She drove and explained at the same time. It is an overview of the city not much time to go into the each and every sight. But good job - the tour was as advertised
The experience was very relaxed and friendly. It covers the best sights and was very enjoyable. A good experience overall
There was not that many interesting thing to see in Lisbon or at least to my interest. Paul, our guide was 5 star He is very knowledgeable about the city and shared it. He was not worried about time. He wanted to show us a point of interest he thought was worthwhile, that extended our trip time. It was worth the time.
Simon was enthusiastic and entertaining. He provided a lot of information in a pleasant, appropriately humorous manner. Unlike another guide, he was easily understandable. Would definitely commend to others.
The morning part of the tour was a bit difficult due to major traffic & congestion in the narrow, steep streets of Lisbon due to a national holiday. Our driver Paul did his best to get to the points of interest in difficult circumstances. The afternoon was much more pleasant and relaxed and we enjoyed some beautiful churches, monuments, and other historic places. Most were viewed from the outside though and did not get to go inside except for a few churches. It was a good overview of the city
You are guided around the city. On a highlights tour of the city. Well organized. We would definitely recommend.
Our guide NuNu was amazing. Very proud of his Portuguese culture and extremely animated. He went over the tour time, but it seemed like the time went so fast. A pleasure spending the day with him.
If they’re looking to discover Lisbon in a day, start here! Tiago was exceptionally knowledgeable, patient and thorough. Warm and friendly, he took us around Lisbon with excitement in his heart.
Disappointed as Nuno stopped in so many unwanted location just to show the city from top from 5 points. Gave very less time to see the Lisbon Cathedral properly but kind enough to show the St. Anthony's birth place. Very abrupt explanation. All places are unworthy to stop. Especially an altar with piece of bricks and water popping out from it. So ugly structure. The second last stop was so worthless that it was fill with weed seller, junkies and so much suspicious activity going on. He should understand he cant make tourist stop at such risky place. Very much time wasted. Nuno took us to some meaningless flea market which actually is a garage item sells, second hand used products. Just because Nuno wants to smoke frequently he makes us stopped wherever he wanted like garage sell market and some high location full of addicted people around. Small suggestion to make this trip meaningful please let's tourist enjoy the Castle and Cathidral. Else its just a bumpy ride with meaningless sightseeing. One should book big bus or city sightseeing for more worthy time spend and awareness about Lisbon. Nuno was so incompetent that he doesn't know the famous CM symbol of great modern theater is actually from the Antonio's castle from Sintra near Pena palace. When I asked this CM or MC symbol from the Antonio's house where you can find the swirling/round staircase and his family built this (as I came to know this from my previous days trip with some different Trip company and the guide was very knowledgeable unlike Nuno). But Nuno said he cant have all information about everything of Lisbon eminent places . Which seems he is not at all a well aware tour guide. Very disappointed
This tour was okay, but not as good as some of the others we did during our trip. There is a lot of driving past places or quickly stopping with no entry included. And there was surprisingly little history shared for a history tour. Definitely felt less organized than some of the other tours we have completed.
Knowledgeable guide accommodating friendly patient very good experience gracious nice people will recommend to all my friends
Really good tour which I thoroughly enjoyed. Nuno was a great tour guide and has a vast knowledge of the history of Lisbon. Highly recommended.
Our travel guide, Nuno was outstanding!!! So informative and super kind; he was an added asset to the experience.
Driving through very narrow, twisting Lisbon streets was an experience I will soon not forget. Our driver was more than a little reckless. His style was going as fast as possible and then slamming on his brakes when needed. One of the other woman in the tour had to switch seats because she was getting carsick within the first 5 minutes. At one point he was going so fast that when he slammed on the brakes due to someone cutting in front of him, I went flying off my seat and slammed into the back of the driver's seat. If this is the "normal" way Lisbonites drive, I will never do that again. I had to hang on for dear life the entire day while he was driving.
Paulo was VERY experienced and knowledgeable tour guide. An absolute miracle driver thru old town! Highly recommend.
Our tour guide Oriana was energetic and knowledgeable. She was flexible when parking was a challenge some timee going around the block while we visited sights. She had great recommendations for food and shopping. At many stops she gave us free time to explore on our own.
Such a great way to see the city, especially with limited time. Nuno was so knowledgeable and generous with sharing that knowledge, plus very accommodating- stopping often for us to get out and walk around.
As Lisbon is quite a challenge with its hills, narrow streets, and uneven surfaces, going with a knowledgeable guide is highly recommended. Ours was excellent and was very flexible to our needs and desires. She made the day enjoyable, even with the challenges that Lisbon puts before you!
This is a well done tour with a good combo of walking and driving. So much safer and get to see more than tuk tuk tours!
Great tour. Great guide Nunu. We got a lot of information, and saw a lot of sights. The van was very comfortable
We had a full day visiting all that Lisbon has to offer with our wonderful guide "John". John made the day, he went above and beyond to make our visit special and memorable. Recommend 100%!
Joao (John) was an excellent guide! So personable, informative, and made the tour so much fun! This was an extensive tour, we saw so many sites in Lisbon and learned so much yet we were still given some time for lunch and shopping. We would highly advise this tour!
There are lots of key points/elements that are covered in Lisboa. You can't get everything within the time given, however the selection they make is great to get a first impression of Lisboa and what you would want to explore more detailed. Our tourguide (Nuno (there are apparently four within "Around Lisboa")) is a local that knows the city by heart. Wether it's its history or the streets you're going to be driving in. All in all a great tourguide with lots of information about the sightseeing we did and was always open for a conversation.
Oceana was delightful- so accomodating to our wishes and so informative. The day flew by because she made it so interesting, fun and happy. We really enjoyed the day.
Great tour! Joao is a great tour guide. Loved hearing his stories about Lisbon 's history. We had bad weather on our tour day, so we weren't able to view all sites as originally planned, but were able to see other beautiful views and still got many great photos.
It was a rainy day for the tour but Juan make it an unforgetable experience with all the places he tooks us and the other couple during all the day, i would like to thank him for an excellent day and to visit places i couldn’t imagine
Terrific tour. Our guide knew the back streets of Lisbon like the back of his hand The guide Joao was an absolute gentleman . He was highly intelligent & what came across in his comments was his love for his city & the rich tapestry of Portugal's history .
Amazing full day exploring the sights of Lisbon , Oriana was very knowledgeable and looked after us . We saw so much more of Lisbon than we would have been able to.
Nuno was truly amazing! He has an extensive knowledge on the historical and cultural background of the places we visited which made the experience interesting and enjoyable. He was accommodating and also gave us time to explore on our own. The Pasteis de Nata , Nuno shared with us was greatly appreciated. My wife, Vera and I enjoyed it so much.
Nuno our guide was excellent went above and beyond to make our day special. Myself and my Husband especially enjoyed the historic tour would highly recommend.
Despite the heavy rains the day we took our tour, we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the neighborhoods and history of Lisbon. Our guide, Nuno, was not only well informed and personable, but he was also an amazing driver who navigated our mini van through the narrow, steep streets with ease. One of the highlights was our stop for fresh baked pastels de natas. A great day in a beautiful city!
Very informative and enjoyable. Oriana was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgable and passionate about Lisbon which made it a great day.
We had a great time with our tour guide Nuno Rebelo since it was just my cousin and I it was more customized and private. He took us to some of the hidden gems in Lisbon like the famous artistic tiles in the city. The different views of the city from different places. The beautiful Belem area.
We recently spent a wonderful day with Paulo. There were only three of us on the tour, my husband and me, and a young woman traveling alone. Paolo was very knowledgeable, interesting and easy to understand. We started with São Vicente, the highest point in Lisbon and saw everything from there to the bank of the Tagus River. The thing that impressed me most about Paolo was that he went beyond what is a normal tour to show us the sights. The day we touring was the day of the trials for the 2025 Ironman World Championships. Because the biking portion of the competition started in Cascais and went into Lisbon, along the waterfront, past the Belém Tower and the Geronimos Monastery, all the roads in that area were closed. Our fearless guide drove all over, around in circles, to get us to where we could visit the Belém Tower and the Monument of Discoveries. We even treated us to Pastéis de Nada from the bakery where they originated in 1837, Pastéis de Belém. If all the tour guides are a good, and as dedicated as Paolo, you are in for a treat! I highly recommend this tour!
Great to see the church of St Anthony in Alfama where he was born. Love it and wish to come back again.
Paulo was a wonderful knowledgeable guide. We saw so much in one day but it was well paced and there was enough free time to rest.
Great tour, and fantastic way to see Lisbon in the comfort of a van. Driver could not have been friendlier and very informative. Highly recommended.
Great tour for the amount of time we had. Our tour guide Philip was very knowledgeable and informative. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Group was smaller than usual with gave our guide more time to explain and tell more. Navigated the streets with ease and an enjoyable experience was had by all.
The two guides who were with us were just the best, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and absolutely recommend them.
Philip was the most amazing guide. His wealth of knowledge made the whole experience even more fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend!
It was a great trip. The guide, Nuno was perfect! I was with a kid, and he made adjustments to the program, only for the kid! The pickup option from the hotel was very convenient. Thank you, very much, for the experience
Nonu and Paulo were amazing tour guides. This experience is definitely worth the money, I was only in Portugal two full days and I feel like I saw the whole city. Lisbon is so beautiful and the personal, mini van experience was the best part of my trip.
We took this tour of the city on our 2nd day in Lisbon. Was great to be driven to each location while learning the history of the country. Our driver surprised us with the delicious pastel de Norte tarts after visiting the monastery.
I am glad I booked this small group tour. There were three of us only with our very knowledgable guide Nuno. There was a hotel pickup at Rossio Square from where he drove us uphill through moorish streets of Alfama to see Castelo de Sao Jorge, winding down to Se de Lisboa, follow Tram 28, Torre de Belem, good lunch at Belem and pasties, drove across river to see Christo Rei at Almada., go through Chiado before returning to Baixa. The tour was well paced with Nuno allowing us time to stop ,view ,take photos while he provided historical facts and anecdotes. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Would highly recommend.
Unfortunately there’s a storm coming into Lisbon this week and we’ve had rain that started yesterday. The tour operator pickup was about 20 minutes late and had two more couples to get before we started. I could barely hear him speaking from the back of the van. We drove to an overlook that was engulfed in fog, so nothing to really see out over the water even though he said we could take pictures. He also wanted us to stand close to him since he couldn’t speak that loud. We climbed down multiple outdoor staircases to a church, but the rain and wind had started again. The woman next to me slipped a few times. By the time we got to the bottom, I was soaked - the front my pants, rain jacket and sneakers were wet all the way through. I decided not to continue the tour since I didn’t want to spend the next 6 hours soaking wet and battling the weather. In my opinion, this tour should have been canceled today due to the rain. It was just very disappointing.
