Stephane gave us a great generalized tour of Lisbon and covered many of the highlights during our half day tour including stops at two churches and Cristo Rei. As we had just finished the Camino in Spain, it was a fun and easy way to tour the city highlights without covering the ground on foot. The tour was entertaining and safe and we got a lot of interested looks as we easily maneuvered around the crowded tourist streets.

Itinerary
Located in the heart of Lisbon, the Carmo Convent is one of the city’s most striking landmarks. Partially destroyed in the 1755 earthquake, it is now known for its impressive open-air Gothic arches. The site also houses an archaeological museum and offers a unique atmosphere, blending dramatic ruins with Lisbon’s rich history.
Located along the Tagus River, Belém Tower is one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks and a powerful symbol of the Age of Discoveries. Built in the 16th century, this Manueline-style fortress once guarded the entrance to the city’s harbor. With its intricate carvings, balconies, and turrets, it offers a unique setting, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-see when visiting Lisbon.
Located in the Belém district, Jerónimos Monastery is one of the finest examples of Manueline architecture in Portugal. Built in the 16th century to celebrate the Age of Discoveries, it stands out for its intricate carvings and magnificent cloisters. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is also home to the tombs of Vasco da Gama and the poet Luís de Camões. A must-see landmark to experience Portugal’s rich maritime history.
An iconic symbol of Lisbon, the 25 de Abril Bridge connects the city to the southern bank of the Tagus River. Opened in 1966, it is often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge due to its suspension design and distinctive red color. Stretching over 2 kilometers, it offers spectacular views of the city, the river, and the surrounding hills, making it a key landmark in Lisbon’s skyline.
Santa Maria Maior Cathedral, commonly known as the Lisbon Cathedral or Sé, is one of the city’s oldest and most iconic landmarks. Built in the 12th century, it blends Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, reflecting Lisbon’s rich and turbulent history. With its massive towers and fortress-like appearance, it overlooks the Alfama district and offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s medieval past.
Located in the Alfama district, the Church of São Vicente de Fora is one of Lisbon’s finest examples of Mannerist architecture. Built in the 17th century, it stands out for its elegant, restrained façade and its cloisters decorated with azulejos depicting scenes of Portuguese life. The site also houses the pantheon of the Braganza dynasty and offers stunning views over the city and the Tagus River from its terraces.
Overlooking the Alfama district, the National Pantheon is one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, easily recognized by its impressive white dome. Housed in the former Church of Santa Engrácia, it honors Portugal’s most important historical figures. Inside, marble and symmetry create a solemn atmosphere, while the rooftop terrace offers outstanding panoramic views over the city and the Tagus River.
Lisbon’s oldest district, Alfama is the historic and authentic heart of the city. With its narrow streets, cobbled stairways, and colorful houses, it offers a unique atmosphere rich in history. As the birthplace of fado music, it invites visitors to wander through its charming alleys while enjoying beautiful views over the Tagus River and the city. A must-see to experience the true soul of Lisbon.
The cultural and artistic heart of Lisbon, Chiado is known for its elegance and lively atmosphere. With its theaters, historic bookstores, shops, and iconic cafés like A Brasileira, it reflects the city’s refined character. Rebuilt after the 1988 fire, it blends heritage and modernity, making it a must-visit area to stroll and experience Lisbon’s vibrant cultural scene.

very fun, great guides- incredible way to see Lisbon only thing, on really hot days it could be too hot for some!
I highly recommend this tour. It is a great introduction to the beautiful city of Lisbon. We were picked up by Stephane who was lovely - funny, informative and attentive, making sure we were comfortable. He brought a range of helmets and found one to even fit my huge head! He brought hoodies for us to wear when we were crossing the bridge , which were much appreciated! The bike was very comfortable and I particularly enjoyed sitting pillion as you were a bit higher and could see, but the sidecar was great too. We had a lovely morning and wish we could come back to explore more of lovely Lisbon soon
Great fun ….a cool way to explore the city of Lisbon and surrounding landmarks. No other motorbikes with side cars spotted which makes this company unique. Fred our guide was attentive, good local knowledge and kind. Certainly the most memorable motorbike ride I have ever had! Loved it… good value and a great way to see Lisbon within 3 hours…..dodging cars and tourists was fun too!
We found them outside LX Factory and we immediately thought what would be better than strolling around Lisbon with a motorcycle with a side car. We had a wonderful tour and we also crossed the bridge which was awesome. Our guide (Stephan) was awesome !! The next time I visit Lisboa, I will definitely go for one more tour.
We loved this trip - our guide was brilliant, and we saw all the ‘sights’ in a morning - travelling on the motorbike and sidecar is the ‘only’ way to see Lisbon - the tram is a nightmare
After a long flight, but before hotel checkin this was the perfect introduction to the city. Sunshine, fresh air and spectacular views everywhere we went. This was my second Retro tour and I will definitely be doing more in the future.
A very original way to discover Lisbon with kids. Excellent team and drivers. I fully recommend this tour. Don t miss it !
An amazing and perfect experience with a teenager. You could see much of Lisbon’s beauty without getting tired. Stéphane is an attentive guide and who knew how to answer all our questions. We were able to make photo stops or visit, in short, I highly recommend. Finally, I confirm that we are perfectly settled!

Extraordinary walk Stéphane and Fred introduced me to magnificent places in Arrabida. I recommend with family, lovers or alone.
After a meeting with Fred / Retro tour on the corner of two streets in Lisbon, our couple of friends and we decided to do a sidecar tour. What a good idea. Fred and Stephane came to pick us up from our apartment. After the presentation of the monuments and other curiosities of Lisbon during the visit to the city center, we took the April 25 bridge which overlooks the Tagus to reach the sanctuary of Christ the King of Almada. Beautiful walk. We unanimously salute their benevolence, their attention, kindness and humor. This experience will obviously be repeated during a future visit to Portugal but also if the opportunity arises during getaways in France, or even the United States 😉. A MUST DO! Thank you both and good luck 😉
A very beautiful day despite gray weather, but the temperature was there to make the most of this two-hour outing. We recommend it
Superb, ride for four people plus the animators on the two Sidecars. Very pleasant visit to Lisbon, crossing the Bridge and visiting the Cross of Jesus. Guides attentive to our visit choices and super friendly and competent To recommend and renew without limit.
