The Belem tour was really good and glad we did that first. The modern tour took forever and was not worth it.

.The lower level was super hot, so we decided to sit in the upper floor but it had a tiny shaded area. The kids could barely enjoy the tour. The second bus we wanted to take coincided with drivers changing, so we hadn’t to wait for about 20 minutes. When we made the remark, both drivers were super annoyed and showed unprofessional attitude.
Friendly staff, tech all working great, lots of additional like boat and trams.
We had to search for the stop to start this morning based on an event going on. There were people standing in the isles at the end of the day. 45 minutes wait for a bus. Not impressed.
Well worth the price. Got the 2 bus tours and the river cruise done. We could also use the tickets on the Tram. Highly recommend.
We rode both bus lines and all was fine, except for the communication part when it came to us asking where to get off for the yellow boat ride. Two drivers told us where to get off for the boat ride, but failed to mention to us that the boat rides don’t operate on Sundays. So we stood waiting for over two hours before a security guard for the terminal ferry informed us you don’t operate the boat on sundays, which we did not see in the literature. Would be nice if announcement could be made onboard the bus.
Hard to locate the bus stops but it was a busy two days in Lisbon .. a two day marathon, Woman's Day parade, and military parade celebration. The boat ride included was great. Weather was fantastic and a great way to see the city!
The bus tour was fine with a nice commentary and not too busy . However the river cruise was badly misrepresented and the boat was nothing like the picture shown on the details page, in fact it couldn’t be described as a boat! Open sided , rusty seating area , no facilities ! Pity I can’t leave a picture ! Very disappointing !
We rode the Yellow Bus on November 23, 2025, and our experience was nothing short of infuriating. We paid full price for the 2-day Hop-On Hop-Off ticket, including the Purple Line for Modern Lisbon, only to be left stranded for over an hour at Stop #2 with zero buses in sight. Not one. For an advertised scheduled service (ervery 30 min), this is unacceptable. We called customer service, and their response was useless — no updates, no solutions, nothing. We then spoke to the rep at Stop #1, who just repeated, “It’s coming,” even though clearly it wasn’t. This completely derailed our day’s itinerary and made the entire ticket feel like a waste of money. Yellow Bus needs to fix its scheduling or stop selling tickets for services they clearly cannot operate. We will not be recommending this company to anyone visiting Lisbon. On top of that, another couple at one of the other stops had a similar complaint. We saw many more City Sightseeing busses before we even saw one Yellowbus.
While the bus tours where as expected, the boat cruise was by far the highlight. The boat ride was the ideal way to see all the Lisbon Tejo/Tagus highlights, get great photos, and beat the heat in the summer.
What was great about the bus tour was how thorough it was. The tour went through so many of the different neighborhoods and we could easily see how Lisbon has 3 million people. It’s not just about old town. However, my one serious critique was the lack of communication when we wanted to know how to access the boat. It wasn’t clear and our first bus driver had no interest in helping us out. We thought we were able to get off at Belém-Maat and so we did but we would have had to wait almost 3 hours for the boat. There was a much better option but we didn’t know that. We ultimately figured it out, somewhat by chance, and really enjoyed the cruise on the water. Overall, it was a lovely day but we felt it lacked some clarity. On the buses there is not someone to help guide or even necessarily how to get off. But the comfort and the length of tour is excellent.
It’s was a great experience! Lots of busses and plenty of room, employees are super nice. Would do it again
Viator was less than helpful when attempting to switch my day for the ride. Initially I was told it was sold out for the day I wanted to switch to, then I was told that my only course of action was that viator could attempt to reach out to the tour operator to see if they would allow the switch. I was also told that if viator did this, there was guarantee I would get a response. Additionally I contacted the tour operator through the viator app to request a switch. This was around 11am… in the app it noted that I should receive a quick reply… I did not receive any reply until after 3pm… the bus stops running at 5:30.. so my family and I lost an entire day.. including the boat ride which we planned to take on the Monday I wanted to switch to since they only offer the ride on Mon, Wednesday and Friday..we had an all day excursion planned for Wednesday and leave from Lisbon on Friday. A side note.. when the tour operator responded back.. they let me know it wasn’t a problem to switch and apologized for the delay.. but the apology fails to make up for the day we lost.
Buses drivers don't stop and ignore passengers at stop will never use again very poor service waste of money as do not deliver should be called do not hop on and of
The YellowBus was quite good. Very good descriptions of sites. There are 2 routes plus the Yellow Boat tour. It is great for the first day orientation. The main Pickup point is right in the center of the Old City. I would recommend a 24 hour pass. The stops are somewhat difficult to locate if you decide to hop off, visit a museum then walk to the nest stop. The stops are far apart and hard to locate. The Lisboa Card offers more flexibility plus free entrance to many museums and travel on all public transport, Free commuter train trip to Sintra, is a must see. However no guided descriptions of sites.
During the bus tour, the driver and the male talked nonstop! Never offered nor could I locate earphones. We sped by all but 1 stop and only slowed down enough to pick up a rider. The bus itself was modern and clean. The boat tour was fine. Older, but fine. Because it had rained before our tour started the outside seating was wet. There was no effort by staff to wipe the area of water or the black oily exhaust deposits from the disel exhaust. That said. I have beautiful pictures of the places I had interest in seeing from the water- so I am happy!
Thought paid for bus boat and tram tours for 2 days ended up paying another 9 euros each for tram tours. Boat late going and coming back. Bus the only positive of your.
Waiting time too long and some routes specifically purple is too boring highly not recommended they could make routes more interesting
We chose this tour because we wanted to experience an overview of the city by riding around. We got that, and a lot more. The explanations that were provided during the tour were very informative, and we were able to hop off and visit the sights that interested us as we got to them. The boat ride was relaxing and beautiful, and we really enjoyed that. When we bought the tickets we were informed that they also gave us access to public transport. This was unexpected, but it was very convenient and useful! Not only did this allow us to ride on the famous historic #28 streetcar, and funiculars, but we could just jump on any of the busses/trams as we moved around the city. We loved our Yellow Bus tour and felt like it was well worth the price!
We bought a 48 hour ticket for the yellow bus and boat cruise. The bus was very nice and far more informative than the #Grayline in Porto. When we went on the cruise we were standing in the hot sun queueing for about 40 minutes before they allowed people to board. By this time there was a very long queue. About 15 minutes before boarding a tour arrived and when boarding started they said we should wait for the tour to board first. There is no signage saying that so I told them “NO!!!” Or refund my money now!! The tour guide had me by the arm pushing me until I told him not to touch me. (I am a woman in my late sixties) and this is the respect he showed. Everyone in the queue was very angry and the man in front of me in the queue said as a senior, he will not give way for this young tour. So much unhappiness to the extent that it seemed a fight would breakout. The captain then told the tour guide everyone should board at the same time.
Horrible, no A/C , no bathrooms, personal no friendly. Not worth the money. The audio is super bad. A waste of time and money
A relaxing way to view the sites and hop off for museums and the monastery with a boat ride included with the All In package.
Absolute rubbish - DO NOT USE. get local rebus tour.been waiting half an hour- no bus and no replyfrom tour operator. PHONE LINES DONT CONNECT.
Both bus tours lacked a whole lot. The audio mostly music. The modern tour allot of shipping docks and a giant shopping mall. The boat tour audio wacked out and started over. Heard about bridge as we past under. Then again after we turned around. Easy way to see city but don't learn much about it. I used to enjoy the human given tours. Not the audio ones.
Unfortunately not so happy with Yellow Bus in Lisbon for these reasons : 1. Long waits between buses, waited up to one hour. Did not take the chance of getting off. Missed a realtime online schedule. 2. Information on guide was limited. Long intermissions with after a while annoying Fado music ( I would prefer less music and more information and maybe a couple fun stories) I am sure there are so much more to tell about this city. 3. For boat tour, they had us waiting out in burning sun and 30 degrees for 30 minutes before letting us on the boat. Recommend to set up shades in summertime . The information on boat was very brief and in too many languages. Good thing with the tour is that you get an ok overview of the city.
River cruise was fantastic . The only problem was getting there. The Hop-on-hop-off left us very far from where we had to take the yellow river boat and we had to ask for directions all the way down and nobody seem to know anything. I think that the bus driver should have been more informative.
Took combo ticket for 2 bus routes & boat, didn't have time for other activities that were included. Got to see so much of the city & lots of information 7 b
The ticket information did not make it clear where to pick up bus. Finally found a ticket booth and was directed to walk another five blocks to bus pick up point. Once on the bus the tour took us through the older part of the city. Returning to the starting point we picked up the bus that toured the modern part of the city. The contrast is amazing.
Excellent way to get a city overview at a bargain. Friendly and helpful staff guided us along even with our lack of speaking ANY Portuguese. This has been true in every country and language.
Big Disappointment. Traveling with family 7 people (total 2 are 78 yrs old. ) As recommended by travel agent we went on Monday. We started at 9 am and were off on last bus run. Most Museums were closed which we found out when we disembarked. When asking drivers for information all 3buses we used were very abrupt. We were told came every 30 minutes it was more 45 to 1 hour no shade or benches available to wait…,,5 bussed were shown on the live route app. App says 3 minutes away and never shows. When got the buses they are over crowded had to sit lower level no ac or open windows for air circulation. Tried taking yellow boat which is extra and due to lack of busses missed the delay and had 2 1/2 h wait. Then missed bus’s for next stop had hour wait Very uncomfortable especially for older adults after standing in sun for 45 min to hour. Never got to use modern Lisbon route as bus never came. After 1hour wait we took last Belem bus so we could at least get nearer to our hotel. Wasted most of day waiting for the bus. Not a true hop on off ride. Better pay little more and have tour where you can get off and on
We did two bus tours in one day and a river cruise tour the next. The tour routes were all very good; but the Belem tour, which was our first one, really disappointed us because the audio narration quit working about a third of the way through and didn’t restart until shortly before the tour ended. And this was the more historical tour, which made it more important to me! Yellow Bus really should know how to make it work by now! Everything else went smoothly and we enjoyed the experience; however, they should really provide better instructions for the embarkation point for the boat tour. The dock is part of a pretty big complex and no directions, instructions or map of where to go were provided. In a foreign country where not everyone is proficient in English, this was unduly stressful. Signage at the dock was nonexistent. I think the Yellow Bus management should imagine sending their own grandparents to accomplish the task. Many of us seniors take these tours in order to reduce the stress of travel. Getting to the starting point should not be a challenge
The audio kept cutting out and we missed vital parts of the commentary. It was difficult to find the first bus stop without a map. Once we were able to pick one up on the bus it was better. Great way to cover a lot of the city!
Great tour of the city. We did both the pink and the blue bus lines. Very interesting. The buses run all the time and there was plenty of room on the bus. Great tour. We didn't have time for the trams or the boat. Great value.
So much to see.Having a two day pass is a must. Take rain gear everyday. The day may start out clear then comes the rain. Unfortunately for me, the water was rather rough, so I didn't do the boat ride. If you start off in center city, make time to spend a few hours there.
AS with all hop on, hop off tours these are a good way to get an idea of the city you are visiting and decide where you may want to explore further. We did this same tour when we visited in April 2023, but did again in September when visiting with family who had not been to Lisbon before. We used the bus for the whole trip and then the following day to go to Belem, that was fine. But the return journey from Belem not so good. There was no clear indication when a bus would arrive. Per the tracking app it seemed to be stuck at the 25 April bridge. But the red tour buses came through Ok. When the bus did arrive it was standing room only. This was surprising, particularly as it turned out there were two more almost empty yellow buses close behind. Which had we seen we would have waited for those. We were just using it for our return journey, but if you were getting on the bus for the first time, i was very poor. The driver surely must have been aware there were other buses close behind? So not impressed by that.
The only thing I didn't like is that on the first stop, when we were changing to the Modern (purple) like, they made people waiting on the direct sun for too long, there were more than enough people to fill the bus but they just didn't care and we asked when will it go, they said we don't know.. the bus was just standing there good 25minutes. The Boat was the best experience.. on the bus, not much to see. The lady selling the tickets on the first stop was rude. We tried to ask some questions from her twice, both time she said wait and ignored us. There was a young man, he was trying to help. It was on 30.09.23
A suggestion… 1. Have the driver call out the stops. 2. Give people a chance to get off. 3. Have your staff queu the travelers ( some travelers are very pushy) Also most of your stops are not shaded. If possible you should look and see if it’s at all possible to move the stop a few meters so we are not waiting in the blistering sun for 20 minutes to board the bus and a good 15-20 minutes in the sun before we start our tour . This of course is the first stop.
We sometimes had difficulty finding the bus stops. Also, I expected the river cruise to be more informative. If there was any guide information. There appeared to be some speakers, but they couldn’t be heard from most of the boat.
We sat at each stop for 45 min at least watching 3 or 4 red buses go by but and not one yellow bus come. We ended up hiring a taxi yo get around . Horrible experience with the yellow bus. I urge people to use the red bus line.
Amazing experience with Yellow Bus in Lisbon! We got the “all-inclusive” package with the two bus tours, red trolley, ferry tour, and access to public trolleys, buses, and metros. Great for three days of seeing Lisbon! The red trolley line is next to the ones for the 28 line, but you really don’t have to wait for the red one, which was wonderful not to stand in the sun! We took one of the public trolley down the hill, lifesaver for tired travelers. All-around great experience!
This is a very impersonal touring experience. I’ve done many city tours and the best parts of these tours in most cases are the guides, the stories they tell, and their personalities. This tour is prerecorded. Also, the bus is not air conditioned and can be very hot, like the day I toured.
I’ve read some poor reviews and I have to say our experience was great. Frequent buses and lovely helpful staff. Also it is well worth the price. First time using yellow bus but definitely not the last.
Disappointed. Location routes and drop offs weren't inspiring. Having stopped at the Oceanarium we expected to get the bus back to centre. It never showed up. We were 10 minutes early. The live stream of bus locations showed that it would take 50 minutes from timetable time. We got an Uber. We didn't bother using the Yellow Bus for next 2 days we'd paid for.
The bus routes were good and had sights to hold one's attention, especially the route to Belem. However, there were long waits for the bus & then one did not stop even though there were seats available & nowhere near closing time.
Easy on off service stopping at all the best places. Busses came by every 20 minutes and the language options made it informative for everyone.
Other than the route map did not work on their website and there were not clearly marked signs at all their stops (example at Belem stops #4 and 5), everything else was great. Fantastic stops at Belem Tower, Discoveries Monument and River Cruise location. Audio was very informative. My wife was using an electric scooter and all the drivers were friendly and helpful.
I have been traveling over 50 countries and used Hop On Hop Off tour bus all the time but by far this was my first experience with Yellow Bus and the worse experienced I had. They don’t have timetable, waiting too long to the next bus, canceled the boat tour without notice and I paid for it, and the worse part at the last 5 PM your after 45 minutes waiting, they didn’t honor to finished the whole route and dropped me off at Tower Lisbon and told me I have to take public bus which took about 45 minutes because they stop in every bus stops. The company should refund my boat tour which canceled and compliment for all the hassles they created. It was not our fault if they running late and should finished the last round tour. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS YELLOW BUS, DONT WASTING YOUR MONEY ON THEM
Go by YELLOW bus, tram and boat and see with your own eyes how beautiful Lisbon will be. Belem, Baixa, Estrella and the historica citycenter are places to visit. There are lots of restaurants and pretty terraces to eat and drink together. Enjoy!
Awful ! The Moderna route takes you through graffiti lined streets , docks and up to “modern Lisbon” . Absolutely nothing up there if interest to see and if you dare to get off at the one stop you’d not get back on bus again . Nobody got off as it was not hop on at all . Buses were crammed , people standing in isles so restricted views . Audio was music , as tbh there was not much worthy of commentary . Only saving grace was the river cruise which was pretty but not worth buying the combined ticket . Bus tour is a joke , it’s a bus ride back to the airport area .
We rode on the Belem line and took the boat ride on the first day. Very enjoyable, although much less buses than their competitor- the Red buses. We wasted a lot of time waiting for a bus. On day 2, we took a taxi directly to the National Coach Museum, because we didn’t want to walk 15 minutes to the closest stop from our hotel and then be on the bus for an hour before getting to the museum stop. After viewing the museum, I realized I left the “paper tickets “ in the hotel. I still had the digital tickets on my phone. We wanted to continue on the Belem line and transfer to the Modern line where they both have a bus stop. The Belem line bus driver let us on without an issue. The Modern line bus driver refused to let us on- even though it was obvious by the digital tickets that this was one of our bus days. He told us where to find the kiosk (with a person) that could give us new tickets. We knocked on the door. A woman opened the door and told us she was eating her lunch and closed the door. We waited 30 minutes for her to open the door. After she opened the door she told us there was nothing she could do about it and that we should to go back to our hotel to get our paper tickets. By the time we got a taxi, went back to the hotel etc, we lost 3 hours of our day 2. Since the buses only run until 7pm, we only had 4 hours left to see everything. We decided to take the Modern line, only to find out we had to wait until 4pm for the next one. (It was 3:25). The Modern line was a true waste of precious time. We never got use the Lift, cable car or Funicular passes. Bottom line- poor customer service, limited buses, inflexible way of doing business.
