Itinerary
Meet your hosts in front of the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça. They will be holding a yellow "Carpe Diem Tours" sign.
Follow your expert guide through Baixa to a cosy tavern renowned for its flavour-packed Portuguese petiscos. Here, you’ll dig into classics like freshly grilled chouriço and bacalhau à Brás, served with a perfectly paired local wine.
Next, we’ll visit a traditional Portuguese seafood restaurant for grilled sardines and comforting seafood rice. And the best part? You’ll enjoy it all with a refreshing glass of iconic Vinho Verde.
After a sit-down meal, dive into Portuguese street food with the legendary bifana, a tender steak sandwich simmered in garlic and wine. Don’t forget to save room for a crispy coxinha or croqueta, perfectly paired with an ice-cold beer.
We’ll visit a historic liquor shop, established in 1890, to sample Portugal’s beloved Ginjinha, a rich sour cherry liqueur that perfectly primes your palate for the final sweet treat.
No food tour is complete without dessert, finish off with Portugal’s iconic pastel de nata, a flaky, golden custard tart that’s truly one-of-a-kind.

We had an amazing evening with Zé who was super knowledgable and a great host. It was a great evening of good food, good company and lots of laughs along the way!
Zē was a wonderful tour guide. He made us feel comfortable in what we were tasting and how we felt during the tour. Because of him we will definitely book another tour and visit Lisboa. All the restaurants we visited were delicious and the wine/beer pairings were excellent. 10/10
This was a great tour. Our guide Rui was so much fun and the food and wine was great! Even the grilled sardines :).
Paula was fantastic. Great food stops and interesting background/history on Portugal and Lisbon. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much Paula, for such a lovely tour! The food was fantastic, you were so informative and the pace was perfect. It was so kind of you to accommodate our 5month old and 5 year old!
We had so much fun on this food tour. Guide Joanna gave us a behind-the-scenes look at Lisbon and its food. Wonderful
If you are Foodie and love to taste different items, this is a great tour. Our guide was awesome. Would highly recommend her.
Best tour we have ever done. Katy was so knowledgeable and caring. I am allergic to shellfish and she made sure I was taken care of and had no issues. The food and wine were delicious. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Lisbon.
We really enjoyed the walking food tour with our guide Rodrigo! There wasn’t too much walking between stops but plenty of food that left us stuffed at the end, making it an excellent food tour! All the food was delicious and authentic. Rodrigo gave us plenty of history about the foods, even stopped in a church on the way and showed us how to properly eat the grilled sardines. We had plenty of wine, beer and a shot of ginja to enjoy with our food. I would definitely recommend, it was a good value for the amount of food and drinks!
Zé was amazing! He went above and beyond. He made Lisbon an unforgettable experience.
Terrific time. Our guide Rui, made it a great experience. He was very informative, extremely nice and friendly, very upbeat. Cares that each person in the group was comfortable, had a good time and was enjoying themselves.
Prepare to have a great time! Great food, great guide (Rui) and great experience! Easy walk, would have loved to extend the tour to all day!
Tour was extremely good, restaurants were tasty. Left full with alcohol and food. They will accommodate different diets, which is a nice plus. Would recommend. Margarita was an excellent tour guide.
There was a good amount of food. I we love the history lesson given by our wonderful guide Beatriz. She kept the flow going, perfect pace, and was engaging with all the guests. If you have an opportunity to take this tour, do so. Worth the time. And if you get Beatriz, you’ll be well taken care of and enjoy the history she gives about the city and food.
Our tour was booked with Paula who works for Carpe Diem tours. She was a fantastic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. We had so many good things to eat and drink that I lost track! The amount and quality of food we sampled were beyond my expectations- everything was delicious! The restaurants were all lovely and charming, especially one cafe where we got to have sardines and seafood soup outdoors under some umbrellas in the middle of the street. It was quite magical!. The Portuguese green wine was especially delicious as was the port. Our group was about half Canadians and the other half Americans- it was fun to get to know other people, and Paula did a great job of making sure everyone was entertained and engaged. I would absolutely recommend doing this tour if you have a few hours free one afternoon or evening.
Excellent! Wish I had a bigger stomach
Great way to learn about Lisbon and sample local food and drink And you get to meet other travelers from around the world.
We thought Bruno the tour guide was excellent, the group was fun and the food, very typical, and sabote. Special mention to the flaming chorizo !

Rui was the best guide. He created a fun vibe within the group from the beginning and had such positivity throughout the tour. Excellent balance of giving history about Lisbon and the food. The distance between the places was perfect and no huge hills to climb. I didn’t want the tour to end - it was so much fun!
Paula was amazing!! Taking us all through beautiful Lisbon centre to enjoy beautiful food and wine… cod, pork sandwiches, wine, pastries. Amazing new friends and fun!

Ze’ was a fantastic guide for our introduction to Lisbon’s local cuisine. We had a great group that was social. Portions were good. Well organized. Fun time for our first night in Lisbon.
The group tour guide (Rui) was as informative as he was welcoming. During the food tour we received lots of historical little insights about the city while also stoping to eat a variety of local dishes. The tour was pleasant (and tasty). The variety of dishes was filling, and overall very good.
Do not bother with any other food tours in Lisbon…this is the one! Great food, fun and important local facts, and exposure to a beautiful culture and people. Maya was/is the best - muito obrigado!

This is a great tour. Maya was really fun and guided us well and the food and drink was fab. Highly recommended.
Ze was great, gun knowledgable and informative. Plenty of good food and an absolute taste of Portugal.
We had a great time with Margarita. I was concerned the tour would be too large or touristy, but it was not - it did truly feel like a behind the scenes experience. Each stop was unique and the staff were prepared to welcome us. Margarita did a nice job helping the group feel comfortable with each other so that could conversation flowed naturally as we sat for different courses in different spots. I particularly enjoyed the flaming chorizo, port sampling (additional fee), sandwiches, and pastel de nata. Oh, and not to mention the shot of ginjinha! Overall a great way to get acquainted with the food, culture and history of Lisbon without struggling to juggle your guide book and the bustling streets.
We had so much fun on our food tour! Margarita was so knowledgeable and fun! Such a fun opportunity to meet other people, learn about the area and eat some local food!
