Itinerary
Your hosts will be holding a yellow "Carpe Diem Tours" sign in front of Supremo Tribunal de Justiça
Follow your expert guide through Baixa to a cosy tavern specialising in flavour-packed Portuguese petiscos. Here, you’ll try favourites like freshly grilled chouriço and bacalhau à Brás, perfectly paired with local wine.
Next, we'll stop at a traditional Portuguese seafood restaurant for grilled sardines and seafood rice. The best part? You'll wash it all down with a glass of the iconic Vinho Verde.
After a sit-down meal, dive into Portuguese street food with the iconic bifana, a garlic- and wine-simmered steak sandwich. Save room for a crispy coxinha or croqueta, best enjoyed with an ice-cold beer.
We’ll stop at a historic liquor shop dating back to 1890 to try Portugal’s beloved Ginjinha, a sour cherry liqueur that perfectly preps your palate for the final sweet treat.
No food tour is complete without dessert, so you'll try the classic that has become Portugal's claim to fame, pastel de nata, a flaky and crumbly custard unlike any other.

Great evening nightly recommended
Our friends were booked onto this food tour and wanted us to join them. Website states veggie options and non alcoholic drinks at each stop. We've been in Lisbon several days and know there's good Portuguese veggie food around. Unfortunately not on this tour. First stop 2 courses for the carnivores with an explanation of the food. Single course for us and we had to ask what it was (mushrooms). Non alcoholic drink turned out to be water. Second stop 2 fish courses. We sat with empty plates through the first and were then served with what might have been a very dry veggie burger and french fries. Water again Third stop 2 meat dishes. Slice of quiche for us. Very Portuguese. No water at all. 4th stop was to drink a cherry liqueur. No alternative offered. 5th stop a small pastry. No drinks available. The guide did his best and was apologetic but couldn't prevent this being an overpriced disappointing evening where we felt like 2nd class customers. Even our friends were disappointed for us Can't recommend
Highly recommend. Great food, company, and history all wrapped in one. Our guide Kateryna was fabulous and knowledgeable. 10/10
We've gone on food tours before, and this was by far the best one! Our guide, Rui was great, and the restaurants he took us to were top notch. We started at Aldea and had seafood rice, sardines and green wine. He shared a lot about the Portuguese culture and the food and showed us how to remove the bones from the sardines. Next we went to Taberna da Baixa for chorizo, bacalhau a gomes de sa and red wine. Then we went to Ginjinha Sem Rival to try the cherry liquor that is a typical Portuguese drink. Next up was a pork sandwich and potato croquettes with choice of beer or wine at Solar da Madalena. Final stop was Fábrica da Nata for pastels de nata, a traditional egg tart. By the end of the tour all seven of us were like old friends! We were sad to say goodbye to the experience and our new friends! We recommended the tour and our guide to several others who planned on going.
Joanna was fantastic! Great visit despite it being a smaller group, but this just means the experience was even more intimate and lovely.
Rui was an excellent guide that had a great personality and was very informative. I highly recommend! Excellent food and drink
We had an absolutely amazing experience on our food and wine tasting tour in Lisbon with Bruno! He was a fantastic guide – incredibly knowledgeable, funny, friendly, and full of interesting stories about Lisbon, its culture, and local traditions. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed tasting the local wines and traditional Portuguese drinks. Bruno made the whole experience so much fun, with plenty of laughter along the way! What made the tour even more special was that one of our group members was celebrating her birthday. Bruno went above and beyond to make her feel special, which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. It was the perfect combination of great food, lovely drinks, fascinating stories, and wonderful company. Bruno’s personality and enthusiasm made this tour one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon! Highly recommend this tour, especially with Bruno! An unforgettable experience and definitely worth five stars!
Plenty of authentic food and drink during multiple stops. Guide ensured group mixed well and small group of 8 was perfect.

This was an incredible tour. Rodrigo, our guide, was knowledgeable, interesting and enthusiastic. He was great. The amount and variety of food we received was outstanding. I think everyone left stuffed, and we got to have many Portuguese specialties. I highly recommend this excellent tour. I take food tours pretty much everywhere I travel and this is one of the best I’ve ever done because of the guide and restaurants selected.

We met our guide Margarita in placa de commercial , along with about 12 other people from Norway, Chile, UK and France. We all got along great! We had about 4 restaurant stops with such dishes as Bachlau, fish stew, chorizo, Bifanas and a lot of other food. Plenty of Vihno verde, red wine and to finish cherry liquor and pastel de nata. All in all plenty of food and drink, and some good ineresting history along the way. A good way to meet people and talk over food.
Maya was wonderful, 10/10 will recommend.
