It was a nice tour. Alfredo did his best to give us as much information as possible, and to make us feel welcome ..it took longer than it was planned to visit Belem, but Alfredo was patient till the end..and helped us to get the right bus connection to our next stop. Thanks once again :)

Our guide Alfredo was not on form. his delivery was hesitant and he was more interested in us buying pastries (so he could stop for a smoke) than packing in more tour experience. Tour was long drawn out and others found it equally boring.
We took the Belem tour with Telma. She is an excellent guide. Her stories are memorable and informative and gave us an appreciation of Portuguese culture and some of the colorful characters that influenced Portugal's history. Would definitely recommend!
We did the walking tour in Belém with Alfredo. Having been to Belém once before without being very impressed, the guide did a good job showing the history of the places and the importance it had to Portugal in the past. Alfredo was a warm and funny guide who knew what he was talking about. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.
I had a tour with Telma for essential lisbon an wanted to say it was wonderful. I really enjoyed it and Telma was so knowledgeable and personable. I had kids with me and she was great with them too . She was wonderful!
We had Belem tour with Telma and we really enjoyed it! Must to do thing in Lisbon as you get to know interesting history from a nice guide :) Strongly recommended!
Telma was our guide – She was very warm and had a very unique humorous way of educating us about the history and culture of Belem. I highly recommend this walking tour and wish Telma the very best 😊
We did the Belem tour and our guide was Telma. We passed along the main attractions of Belem while getting explanations and hearing stories about Portugal and its Golden Age of Discovery. Telma was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to!
We (party of 3 senior women from the US and Australia) took 2 tours in Lisbon with our tour guide, Telma, (one in Belem, one in Alfama), and both were fabulous. Telma is very knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon, and brings it to life by connecting it to the various monuments. Also, her English is flawless, so she's very easy to listen to, and I could just focus on the information instead of trying to decipher an accent. There is a lot of information provided, but she does it in a light hearted, matter-of-fact manner, which makes it easy to absorb. I highly recommend Telma and Blue Emotion Tours.
We took a tour of the city center with telma andwe loved it, she is warm, extremely bright and has a wonderful sense of humor. It is clear that she has a passion for this city and its past. We are looking forward to taking another tour with her throughout the alfama district
We had a lovely tour with Telma, she has a lot of enthusiasm and gives great tips! The tour shows a part of the Alfama neighborhood which is very romantic consisting of small streets making it very pleasant on a hot day as you walk mostly through the shadow. Would definitely recommend this.
Both the morning and then the afternoon tours were conducted by Joao. The content was rich in detail and interesting - he added context to the varied history of the city and gets full marks for his enthusiasm and flute to English. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
We were v happy with the effort made by Telma. Excellent knowledge and enthusiasm! And full of smiles. We have booked the next tour to Belem with them because of this. Cheers Telma!
Joao is a truly wonderful guide: he has profound knowledge of history, that goes beyond dates and names. What was so special about this tour is that Joao adapted the tour to the needs of the group. Noticing that we were interested in the information beyond wikipedia, he shared his thoughts on the controversial nature of the Portuguese history supported by historical sources. This is a rare talent and I would like to give him the best possible recommendations.
We had a great tour with Joao, the english tourguide. The group was small and the tourguide a very smiling and happy person. He showed us special places and gave great insider recommandations. We liked it so much that we joined all 3 tours. Especially in alfama it is usefull to have someone who knows the way. Alfama is like a Labyrinth. Thank u Joao Nice regards from your 2 german girls
We took our first free tour with Inés and we loved every minute of it. Its amazing how much you miss without a knowledgeable guide. She really brought to life all of the symbols of Portuguese culture while at the same time linking the modern day 007 to Portugal's political intrigue. We so enjoyed the walk that we decided to do the Alfama walk with Daniel. A great afternoon discovering Lisbon in the winding streets of the Alfama up to the Graça viewpoint. For Spanish or English speakers an excellent option to enjoy the city in a relaxed, fun way. Gracias Rafa, Inés y Daniel....excelente!!
Telma was an amazing tour guide . Knowledgeable, funny, charismatic and a wonderful story teller. She explained the physical lay out of the city and brought the history to life. She gave us practical tips to use during our stay. I would go on another tour of hers .
This was an enjoyable tour through the central parts of Lisbon. Our guide Telma was very friendly and informative. She offered some great suggestions for sites to see, transport, local food and bars.
Had a great 3 hours tour through Belém. Our tourguide Telma told fun stories plus all historical facts.
Our guide was Telma from Island. We had a wonderful afternoon with her. She was very motivated and tried to catch everyone with good stories and the amazing histories of Alfama. She took us to an old lady who was selling Ginja in a choclate cup. We are really appreciatd :)
New to Portugal, so I had many things to learn! Joao made our tour interesting and entertaining-we laughed all the way round! There was only 6 of us (plus Joao) and it was perfect. He has a lovely way of explaining the history that made it fascinating-I'm not usually good with dates etc, but the time flew past!! Great coupe of hours!
Four of us took the Lisbon Essential tour through Blue Emotion Tours today. The tour was led by Telma, a charming and very knowledgeable guide. Telma, is originally from Iceland. Touring the world, she fell passionately in love with Lisbon a year and a half ago, and chose to give the rest of the world a pass. That passion is reflected in the tour she gives. Giving tours is not just a way to make money for Telma, it is a way for her to share her love of this extraordinary city. This passion made this the best city tour we have gotten anywhere. This is a "free" tour. Actually, it is not free as Blue Emotion Tours charges the tour guides 4 Euros per guest. Telma won't share that so take that into account when compensating her for the tour. Whatever you do, take a tour from this excellent Tour guide.
Amazing tour and great overview of Lisbon's history and monuments. Definitely recommend, especially for the price.
Had our tour in English with Joao and would always do it again! His knowledge of the city and its history is terrific, he is very funny and charming and his English is a dream. Highly recommend to anyone who visits Lisbon and wants to learn something about the city and samewhile having a great time!
João's English was perfect. He was informative, interesting and enjoyable. This is a great introduction to Portugal and Lisbon.
We did the Lisbon Indispensable walking tour and it was amazing. Our guide, Telma, was great and super helpful. On a side note, the tour starts at 12h and the heat and sun is taxing. Go well protected and take a big bottle of water!
The walking tour of essential Lisbon is a great option to get introduced to the city's rich history, architecture and monuments. Our group (4 couples) decided to take the tour after reading the great reviews on TA, we were not disappointed. Our guide, Flor, was very knowledgeable and her entertaining storytelling made the tour an illustrating and memorable one. After the midday's tour experience, we decided to book the evening's Mouraria Tour, also with Flor. We were immersed in the history of the neighborhood and Fado music (Portuguese expressive and melancholic singing), topped with dinner on the same neighborhood which included a Fado show. What a unique experience! Highly recommend Blue emotion on your visit to Lisbon.
We saw Blue Emotion's umbrella on the main square and joined the free walking tour with Telma. We enjoyed it very much and eventually booked the boat tour to Belem with Nelly. Both guides were amazing and told us some very interesting stories. I can definitely recommend this company.
Wonderful explanation on Barrio Chiado, Rossio and downtonwn! Our 3 kids enjoyed a lot! And they remember most of the details. Alicia (our guide) was super good and really paying attention to details. Really I recommend it for a nice walk! Cheers
I was very curious about Alfama. Elana's positive energy and knowledge satisfied me. It was a very nice experience for me. You will be tired, but you will be so happy end of the tour. It is recommended. Thanks a lot Elana 👏
Highly recommend this free, almost daily, tour. Telma really brought the fascinating history of Lisbon alive in 2 very short hours. My favourite among many interesting stories was the Carnation Revolution. No spoilers from me, just go. We liked it so much we’re doing the Belem tour today. Well done Telma!
Hi Everyone!!! If you want to have an amazing first day, then the second and the third-and so on, book your tours with Elena! She knows her stuff! She is knowledgeable and well informed, very loved by ppl in the neighborhoods she guides tours and she makes the tour into an enjoyable day out, with friends! She brings the city closer to you! I recommend going with her with all my heart! Xoxo, Katarina
So much to appreciate. Lots of history charmingly recounted with interest and enthusiasm. Of course no tour is “free” but we were happy to pay at the end as we had both enjoyed it so much. Will do another tour when we return to Lisbon.
We took a walking tour around central Lissabon. Our guide was Elena and she did an excellent job. Explaining in a fun and informative way about Lissabons history and sights. The tour is about 2-2,5 hour and gives you a lot. We will never forget the year of the earthquake😉
This was a really interesting tour. Telma, our guide, was very informative and gave us lots of information on the city, its history and key points of the areas we visited. Would strongly recommend it!
When we turned up we were the only English speakers. They needed a minimum of four and we were only two. But for an extra €5 each, we got a private tour with Elena. She was fantastic - attentive, knowledgeable, fun. We learned a lot about this interesting part of the city. Much recommended.
After doing Baixa free tour with Elena, we were so glad that we had no doubt, we wanted to pursue Alfama tour with her. She is so charming and her explanation was so full of details that we enjoyed every moment in the oldest part of Lisbon. It’s been one of the best tour guide experiences I’ve ever had. You can’t miss it! She is the best!
When visiting Lisbon for a couple of days, my boyfriend and I, bumped into people with blue umbrellas who were offering a free 2-hour tour of the city. We took the tour in English with Elena. The tour was really great, informative, interesting, and Elena kept it very high energy. It was really fun and I recommend it to everyone!
By chance I stumbled upon the blue umbrellas and decided to participate in a tour with Telma from Iceland. With a delightful voice and rich English she guided us through the basics of downtown Lissabon. We learned about Pessoa, and as a Belgian I got a wonderful story about Maximilian the Mexican Emperor who was married to the Belgian princess Charlotte. Thanks to al these opulent stories and tips I partipated in The Belem Tour. Only to conclude that you should never ever skip a good tour with Blue Umbrellas when in Lissabon.
I don’t usually write reviews about walking tours but as our guide today (Icelandic girl) was so brilliant I thought I would. She was very informative without being boring and all in all it was a great tour about the history and landmarks of this very interesting city!
I had the pleasure to go for a tour with Elena today and it could not have been nicer. She told us a lot of interesting information and curiosity about the city, even tho the group was really small she was super compelling and she also gave us very useful advise on how to use transports, how to move around the city, some interesting shortcuts and the best places to eat. She also stopped to have lunch and coffee with us after the tour still recommending us places and activities even tho we were not paying her anymore. Also it’s free offer, so it’s also cheap:) Totally worth it!
We started off with the free city tour with Telma, and it was so good we ended up doing two more - the Alfama and the Belem. Both Telma and Nelly were great guides, knowlegeable, interesting going above and beyond. I could go on for ages about how good they are, but it is best just to go for it. The Belem your in particular was a highlight, Nelly explained it in such a captivating way, finishing off with the map explanation of the Portugese voyages of discovery. A highlight of all the tours was the way the guides integrated stories into the historical facts that brought the sites alive.
I went for a walking tour with Elena at the start of my visit to Lisbon and it turned out to be the best thing to do. Elena was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. She made the history of Lisbon come to life with her detailed stories and enthusiasm. Thanks to her, we left the tour more knowledgeable about a city we formally knew nothing about. Highly recommended!
If you are looking to tour Lisbon, look no further. Blue Emotion Tours is what you are looking for. ELENA was our SUPERSTAR tour guide. She was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. She made the history of Lisbon come to life with her detailed stories and enthusiasm. Thanks to her, we left the tour more knowledgeable about a city we formally knew nothing about. So look for the people with the light blue umbrellas and get excited about this tour!
We went on the tour with, Elena, who was so knowledgeable of the area. She answered every question and was able to accommodate our English and Spanish speakers. I highly recommend her and this tour.
we did this tour in spanish with our tour guide Elena who made this tour very interesting and fun with her knowledge of the history of the city, well recommend it.
Our free Tour with Telma, a lovely Girl from Iceland, was so much more than can be expected from a free tour. We walked for Hours around Chiado and Baixa and we learned sooo much About the city's and country 's history. It was never boring, she had profound Knowledge About everything we saw and and made the tour light and interesting by adding hilarious trivia to historical Details. Thank you Telma for making this a Tour to remember! Tanja & Daniel
Hey that tall male guide who says he is Spanish, what's your problem? Free walking tours are for everyone, I came to ask you poliyely, "so I can join this, right?" and you gave me that hesitant look like I'm not welcome. Then after waiting there 5 mins you just left without telling me when my back was turned taking pictures of the protest march?? This was Wed 12/12/18 At 1530h, management please take note.
We went on the 4pm free walking tour with Sara. She was so informative and full of hints and tips about the city. Would definitely recommend Blue Emotion tours.
We did the free walking tour (2 1/2 hours) around Baixa and Chiado with our guide Guillermo (from Spain) who was absolutely amazing in his depth of knowledge, in History and architecture as well as his amazing presentation skills that conveyed his passion for Lisbon. As we were so impressed we decided to have a quick lunch and join his 4pm tour around Alfama. This was even better than the earlier one which was hard to imagine and we walked around Alfama for over 3 hours. It was spectacular and again Guillermo’s knowledge was detailed and insightful. He would make a fantastic history teacher one day.
