Lots of walking up and down hills and stairs at night to get to dinner. Not much explanation, but did stop at two nice overlooks. Dinner choices were slim and quality was okay.

Itinerary
We will start our Fado tour by wandering through the alleys and windy streets of old Lisbon on a small walking tour through Mouraria and Alfama, where you can get to know the working class neighborhoods and streets where Fado was born. Our guide will explain to you the history and the cultural importance of Fado, and how it shaped mentalities in Portugal and the portuguese own sense of identity.
We'll end the tour at a traditional Fado house where we'll listen to the heartfelt melodies of Fado. Lose yourself in the atmosphere and mood of this typical Portuguese music genre played by the Portuguese guitar and characterized by mournful, heartbreaking lyrics. While you enjoy the music, we will also provide you with a typical Portuguese dinner. Homemade food, portuguese wine, and an amazing environment are the keys to any good Portuguese evening.

Our trip was cancelled. I am looking for a refund. The tour guide had car problems so we didn’t get to experience .
Great dinner and an interesting walk through the Alfama neighborhood. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Walking tour was great, nice warm up to dinner. Tour guide was knowledgeable and food was adequate. Fado singers were excellent!
Very steep climbs up and down, food was average and not traditional portughese and since since it was late evening and dark couldn't enjoy the beauty of old moore town.. fado performance was good
Great experience. Excellent way to tour Lisbon’s historic district because you see and appreciate much more on foot. The dinner and fado experience were also wonderful
Lara was absolutely wonderful as our tour guide for the Fado dinner experience in Alfama. She was incredibly knowledgeable and full of information, not only about Fado but also about the history, culture, and neighborhoods. She made the experience feel much more meaningful by sharing details and stories along the way. What really stood out was how attentive Lara was from beginning to end. She took care of us every step of the way, making sure everyone was comfortable, knew where we were going, and had a great experience. She was warm, engaging, and genuinely passionate about sharing Lisbon and it's culture with us. The Fado dinner itself was a memorable experience, but having Lara as our guide made it even better. I would highly recommend this experience, especially with Lara as your guide 🙂
Fantastic experience. Miguel our guide was very knowledgeable of the background and story; which made the walking part super interesting, despite the heat of the day and climb. We were a rather large and diverse group of 16 or so. We learned quite a bit of this important cultural aspect of Lisbon. Food at the end and songs were out of this world, and rightfully ended our tour late at night on a very high note. I would definitely recommend this to friends.
Excellent experience visiting old Lisbon, dinner and Fado performance. Guide was very personable and knowledgeable.
We loved our evening with Miguel. He was very knowledgeable. The other guests were great also. The food was very good. Enjoyed it immensely.
Lara was an amazing guide, full of energy, friendly, and knowledgeable. The dinner and Fado was magical.
Miguel was an amazing guide, very informative and knowledgeable. Great experience! Dinner and the show were a great time as well.
Very good guide very informative. Alexis was pleasant and answered questions. Dinner group was a great mixture of people and great conversation. You must stay silent during the performance.
Everyone should be aware that the walking tour includes much walking over cobblestones, mostly uphill and up many flights of steps. The fado show and dinner are in an open terrace. Dinner was flavorful with ample portions and included starters, mains, dessert and drink.
Walking tour is not for seniors. The streets in Alfama district are steep and narrow with many steps. Our guide put us on a Bolt taxi to get us to the restaurant. Driver couldn’t find the restaurant so we missed the dinner and Fado music. We were disappointed!
This is a very informative and pleasant walking tour through parts of Lisbon with stops at various spots for some fabulous photo opportunities. Miguel is a very knowledgeable and friendly guide who catered to everyone in our group even though we were from 5 different countries. Miguel has a wealth of information about the history of Lisbon and Fado. I would highly recommend him for a tour and would certainly go with him again. The dinner was delicious and the Fado was melodic and emotional. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to learn about this part of Portuguese culture.
Miguel was an amazing guide! Super down to earth, knowledgeable about Lisbon history, made great conversations and had great chemistry
One of the best experiences I had in Lisbon! Lara was simply fantastic. Besides being incredibly friendly and charismatic, she tells the stories of Lisbon in such an engaging, entertaining, and captivating way. You can truly see how passionate she is about what she does, and that passion completely transforms the experience. The dinner was delicious, the live Fado performance was moving, and the entire evening was unforgettable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon. Thank you, Lara, for making this such a special experience!
This tour is not for everyone. Lara was very nice and enthusiastic but her enthusiasm led to frequent digressions that caused the walking portion of the tour to extend a half hour beyond the published hour. The tour description should have indicated that it was strenuous and was not appropriate for anyone with difficulty with steep inclines. The restaurant food, music and service were reasonably good but my sister-in-law was pickpocketed during the lights-out portion of the show. Directions to the taxi stand (Go down the alley and take a left.) after the show didn't work out; probably because people who left us before got the cabs. We went to the next major street to catch an Uber where were pursued twice by a rather tall vagrant who kept shouting "Money, money, money! It took a direct confrontation to get rid of him. Over, the tout was poorly described and executed.
Went on the Fado tour with Lara as my tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The music was amazing and I felt like I learnt a lot.
Lara is the best so captivating and full of stories to tell, the food was amazing the atmosphere was awesome i would definitely recommend this tour and lara as your guide!
If you’re visiting Portugal and want a deep dive into its historical and musical history, the Fado Tour was a must. Our guide, Lara Barbosa, only made the experience that much better with her deep passion for history and welcoming attitude. She didn’t just recite facts, but was able to tie together the history of Lisbon and the origins of Fado in the Alfamo district in a easy to understand way, and even provided fun facts from her own culture, Brazil, which made it apparent that they genuinely love what they do. The fado performance itself was breathtaking. The singers poured their hearts into every note, giving me chills more than once. Overall, the experience was amazing, and Lara was a 10/10 tour guide. I highly recommend!
We had a nice evening overall and are glad we experienced a traditional Fado dinner while visiting Lisbon. Our tour guide, Miguel, was friendly and accommodating. Before the tour, I told him I was experiencing hot flashes and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to keep up with the walking. He reassured me that we’d take things at a comfortable pace, and he absolutely kept his word, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting another wonderful family on the tour. We ended up making new friends, which made the experience even more memorable. The Fado performances themselves were very enjoyable. Both the male and female singers were talented, and it was a wonderful introduction to this beautiful Portuguese tradition. The dinner, however, was just okay. The menu wasn’t explained in much detail, so I ended up choosing the chicken, which wasn’t particularly memorable. The sangria was delicious, but the meal overall didn’t stand out. The staff also didn’t check in after serving the food to see if everything was satisfactory. Toward the end of the evening, we also felt a bit rushed, as if the restaurant was ready for our group to leave before the scheduled end of the experience. Dessert was a simple sorbet, which was fine but not especially memorable. Overall, we’re glad we went because the music, cultural experience, and the people we met made the evening worthwhile. With a little more attention to the dining experience and guest hospitality, it could be an even better experience for future visitors.
It was a fun and different experience. Our guide, Lara, was fun and very informative!
Our guide Lara was super friendly. She gave us a good glimpse of the history of Lisbon and Portugal, and the connection with Brazil too. The walk thru the ups and downs of narrow cobbled Lisbon streets was unique in it's own way. The weather was beautiful in the evening as we were brought to the restaurant. Light breeze, good food and cocktail and the Fado music made the evening. Definitely recommend it.
A truly authentic Fsdo experience. We loved the outdoor setting and the performances were excellent. It is hilly, but our guide was accommodating. I was able to manage the walk with a sprained ankle
This walking tour took us to beautiful vistas and interesting back streets. The Fado music was haunting and beautiful and food was delicious. Our guide Miguel was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
The show, dinner and guide were entertaining and educational. A fun evening to be sure.
Guide was very knowledgeable and informative.
Miguel was an excellent tour guide and very helpful as we had some elderly on our group so navigation and mobility were a little challenging. He was very helpful and found elevators where we could use them versus the stairs. We definitely highly recommend just with caution that you need to be in fairly good shape or not have any mobility issues because there’s a lot of stairs and upward climbing and then back downhill. Overall, it was excellent. We enjoyed it, especially the dinner and the fado singing.
This was a good tour with some walking so be prepared. It was a challenge to find the meeting place but the folks around the area were very helpful. It was a informative walk as our guide was knowledgeable even though he was from France. The food was very good and the fado show was great for the exception of the other guests that were in attendance. This show is best appreciated with a quiet crowd. Our group respected this but other guests did not. We still enjoyed the show but felt bad for the performers.
Tour guide very knowledgeable about history of portugal. Would love to do another tour with this company
A must do while in Lisbon! Rodrigo our tour guide was, so knowledgeable, gave us so much detailed history during our walking tour. We learned so much about Portugal & 🇵🇹 Lisbon. The food at the restaurant was delicious, the service was excellent. The show was authentic, the three Fardo performers sang beautifully, such talent, we bought a CD. It was more than expected! Rodrigo is truly so wonderful, thank you, for sharing your knowledge. Thank you to all the restaurant staff and the Fardo performers. Kindly Jessica & Phil
Please plan on eating later in the evening. The walking portion of the tour was longer than we expected.
I have done this exact tour several other times this is the only time I was very disappointed. Our tour guide was just not good. It was more of a tour on Lisbon and he knew very little and spoke very little about Fado. He talked so much and for so long that our young adults and ourselves lost interest. We spent a lot of time standing and he spent a lot of time talking and talking.I was so excited to share this fado experience with our group as it was our last night in Lisbon and it was very disappoint ing. . Again, the tour guide went on and on and on talking about such uninteresting facts about Lisbon. Our fado singers were also not as good as the ones in the past. Food on this tour guide has always been average at best but again usually the tour and the Fado are amazing. Not tonight :((
Miguel was an excellent guide who thoroughly answered all questions. He brought us to locations with excellent views and the restaurant selected for the Fado was small and cozy allowing for a wonderful experience.
A little hard to find at first. Miguel was fantastic, very personable and knowledgeable. The restaurant was nice and the food was delicious.
Rodrigo was very passionate and knowledgeable with the history of Fado and Lisbon. The Fado performance was beautiful and the walk through the city included a number of incredible viewpoints which was amazing during the golden hours of the sunset.
Miguel, our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable about the history of Fado and of Lisbon and Portugal. Wonderful views of the city, along with interesting historical information. Great tour!! Note: if you have trouble with steep hills and steps, this may not be the tour for you.
Good information shared, but they need to explain that the walking is uphill and lots of stairs. Two of my friends couldn't join the tour.
Lovely tour, meal and Fado experience. Miguel was very knowledgeable, friendly and ensured we had a great evening!!
You shouldn't go to Lisbon and not experience the Fado tour! It is one of the best experiences to have
Naseem was the reason the this tour was so great - engaging, kind and informative
Nessim was very engaging and informative. Lonf walk but saw lots on the way. The Fado was fantastic and the dinner and staff at the restaurant were amazing.
if you are curious about really hearing fado you should take this tour. Miguel is an excellent guide who was born and raised in Portugal. He speaks excellent English and his commentary included how to behave in a.fado restaurant. It would probably have been more fun if we had had a larger group, but after his talk on behavior, eight girls who thought they were going to a bachelorette party broke off from the group. He took it well and we had a private guide for the meal. He explained what the usual Portuguese meal schedule was and what most of them ate. We had several choices of dinner. A grilled chicken and the national dish of salted cod and potatoes. It was delicious.the fado Singers were very nice to listen to and very personable. They were friends of Miguel and when I asked about the instrument were thrilled to show me a 14 string guitar. The players fingers moved so fast. I could not follow it. Highly recommended. We took a food and wine to her earlier in the day, which was much more expensive than nowhere near as informative.
It was a walking tour of the older residential neighborhoods leading to the Fado bar and restaurant. Our guide, Nessim, was knowledgeable and experienced. Very engaged. The Fado performance at the Alfama Grill was excellent.
Had never been on a tour like this before but wasnt disappointed. Nessim was very knowledgeable and led the tour well. The best part though was the Fado music experience. Really enjoyed it and there was even some audience participation!
Miguel was great! We recommend the experience. Food was very good and entertainment was one of a kind
It was an amazing experience. The walking tour was perfectly organized by our tour guide Miguel, he have us lots of information on the history of Lisbon and Fado. The dinner was really good and the Fado singers are amazing. Not to be missed !!!
We walked from the meeting site to the restaurant while hearing the history of Fado and Lisbon. The guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and spoke English very well. The love he had for his city and fado music was obvious. The food was delicious and the music was beautiful. A truly memorable evening. Obrigado!
