We saw many birds including flamingos. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about nature.

A beautiful experience with a knowledgable guide. Lots of birds to see even in the off season. Recommend!
Excellent birding trip. Carlos is very knowledgeable. When we visit Lisbon again, we plan on taking another trip! It was a breath of fresh air!
Extremely fun trip along the river seeing numerous birds and getting a great understanding of the geographical area from Carlos. While we didn’t all the birds we were expecting, the boat ride was very calm and it beautiful to see a different side of Lisbon not normally travelled.
We had a lovely time on the water and a guide that was very knowledgable about the birds. This was a great way to get to know more about Lisbon and be outside. The boat and our guide, Carlos, made it a wonderful outing.
We had a great time on this boat tour with Carlos. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and was able to point out lots of different bird species to us, particularly some difficult to distinguish shorebirds. We highly recommend.
It was a very enjoyable tour. The guide knows where to find the birds based on the tides and he knows all their names in English. The species you see will depend on the time of year and tides. For the best birding experience, you can contact the guide in advance to see when the tides will be most favorable.
The guide was excellent! This is a unique tour any nature lover & bird watcher should experience when visiting Lisbon.
Excellent experience and great opportunity to see an amazing variety of birds. Try to check the weather before booking.
i had a great time and the trip was totally worth it as we have seen a lot of different birds - sandpipers, curlews, spoonbills, redshanks, marsh harriers and even an osprey with a fish the guide explained all the details and helped to timely identify the birds so we did not miss anything) I would love to come again to check this place at another time of the year
Had a great time with Carlos and the other Travellers. Carlos has a good eye and we saw lots of birds and a number of species we don't get to see back home. Highly recommend for birds lovers!
We went on a bird watching tour in late October. Carlos was a fantastic guide who really knew his stuff and where to find the birds. We got to see some fantastic species including Flamingo’s, Ospreys and Avocets. I really recommend this tour as the wildlife so close to Lisbon is amazing
We thoroughly enjoyed our estuary experience with Carlos on the boat, River Friends. It was such a nice change from city touring. There were so many birds! Flamingo, spoonbill cranes, osprey and several others. Carlos was very knowledgeable about the estuary and wildlife.
My mom and I had a great day on the water with Carlos. He's very friendly and the boat is in wonderful condition. Carlos was a knowledgable guide about both birds and the area. It was a much better experience than going out on a big, generic tour. Carlos was happy to gear the tour in whatever direction we wanted. We saw flamingos, spoonbills, ibis and even an osprey.
My family had a lovely 3 hour boat tour with Carlos. We saw countless flamingoes and even a few spoonbills which was exciting! Carlos made us feel comfortable and was passionate about Lisbon’s nature. Aside from the birds it was nice to be out on the water and view the city from a different perspective. The boat was clean and comfortable and we were fortunate to have calm waters for a smooth ride. As a note, Carlos said 8 is the max the boat can fit before it gets cramped.
Carlos was an incredible birding guide. We saw many types of birds and in significant numbers. As a side benefit, we saw beautiful Lisbon and the Tejo Nature Reserve.
This was a wonderful way to see nature and enjoy the beautiful river. As a birder, I was happy that even at this time of year, there were a lot of good species... such as hundreds of glossy ibis. Carlos is super friendly and knowledgeable about both birds and Lisbon. Everything was on time, and worked perfectly.
Carlos told us at the start of the tour that his boat had engine problems. We all agreed to carry on with the trip. In the event the boat didn't get us to see the birds. The important thing is that Carlos was primarily concerned about safety and skillfully got us back to the marina. And he kept up a cheerful manner, despite the fact that he was obviously disappointed about not being able to provide the full tour. He talked about the birds on the estuary and the environmental issues they faced while nursing the boat back home. I would have no problem going back to Carlos to guide us on the river
We enjoyed our boat trip in the estuary, 5 passengers on board. Low tide, so lots of mud flats and pools. There are a variety of birds and a beautiful view of the city and the bridge. Our guide and boatman was very knowledgeable. Some of the birds we saw were, Eurasian Spoonbill, western Marsh Harrier, Pied Avocet, Black Winged Stilt, and a Purple Heron. I highly recommend this trip.
This day turned out to be one of the best days of our holiday. It was foggy at the the time we were due to set off so we agreed to postpone going for an hour and a half. The boat was a small comfortable motor boat with thick cushioned seats. There were 5 passengers and our very knowledgeable guide. It was quiet and peaceful and we saw many waders . The birds included hundreds of Avocets and black billed stilts and Spoonbills. The fog lifted and the sun came out! After a couple of hours the fog returned and we crept back to the Marina We would highly recommend this trip with this company who are knowledgeable and caring Do wear warm clothes in winter , preferably layers! Also take binoculars if you have them
Beautiful tour, saw lots of birds. The guide was so interesting, and got excited for different birds even though he sees them all the time. He was VERY knowledgeable. Tip: there is 1 pair of binoculars to share among all the passengers, which was fine for us, but you may want to bring your own.
We had a superb trip with Carlos! He knows the estuary like the back of his hand. Great bird knowledge too! We saw some stunning birdlife and the boat was comfortable for us all.
Amazing experience! Carlos is such a great and knowledgeable guide. He kept us informed of all the birds we could spot in advance and was also kind enough to stop the boat when you'd like to take a photo.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of estuary birds, wildlife, and history. Super informative and enjoyable. Very personable guide with a love and passion for nature that we shared.
Excellent, experienced guide with a true passion for conservation of nature around theTagus estuary. Highly recommended, obrigado Carlos Cera!
We enjoyed our morning of birdwatching with Carlos. He was very knowledgeable about the estuary's birds, and his love of nature really came through during the tour. We were lucky enough to see everything from tiny shorebirds to raptors to huge flocks of glossy ibis.
The three hour birdwatching tour with our guide Carlos Cera was fantastic, Carlos was an exceptional guide, his knowledge of the area, the birds that frequent the national park was first class. Carlos displayed a passion for protection of natural habitat that is rare and appreciated. He has sharp eyes and his ability to spot different species from distance was great. He was very friendly and would try to answer any questions we had. We were lucky to have a great day with fine clear weather and very little wind. The highlight for me was the flights of Black (or Glossy) Ibis that flew over our boat in their thousands, we’ve never experienced such a sight.
It was fantastic. Carlos was great at pointing out all the birds we saw. It’s a small group, there were 3 of us, he takes a maximum of 10 people & because his boat is small we can get close to the wildlife. We saw 30 different species including flamingoes, glossy ibis, spoonbills, ospreys & black winged stilts & the sun was shining too
Carlos was a wonderful guide who is passionate about nature and birds in particular. Our original booking date required a change due to weather conditions. He went the extra mile to find us a new date so we could take this trip. As it was migration season, we saw lots of birds. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Bird watching during autumn migration in the estarium of the Tagus river. It was an amazing view to see thousands of ibises / 5-10 ospreys and much more.
Carlos was an excellent boat captain and tour guide. We saw several varieties of birds. It was a very relaxing and fun experience.
The birdwatching tour was a highlight of my trip. Carlos was knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife and he made the tour very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it if you are in Lisbon.
Carlos is excellent. He is knowledgable and generous. He shared stories about the changes in Lisbon, and then brought us through the estuary and identified the birds that we were seeing. He had binoculars that I could use and helped me pick out different species. I highly recommend this birdwatching tour, and I recommend Carlos!
We saw a lot of flamingos and other birds, the trip itself is very nice, You see nacoes area from the water. The guide even provided me with binoculars!
The trip along the river was lovely looking for birds, Carlos' explanations along the way were pleasant and very enriching. We will recommend the river friends with great love
The tour was amazing and so is Carlos! So passionate and knowledgeable about the birds - we learned so much, we laughed a lot, and we got to see amazing views of Portugal!
We went on the Boat Trip/ Birdwatching in the Tagus Estuary at the end of February, 2024. This adventure let us observe Lisbon from the water which was a rare treat. Carlos, the guide, pointed out birds we had never seen before such as the Eurasian Spoonbill. We also had a beautiful view of the Vasco da Gama bridge when we went under it. Unfortunately it rained quite hard when we were on this trip so we recommend bringing a rain coat. Carlos was knowledgeable and experienced.
Carlos knew exactly where to find all the wonderful birds that inhabit the Tagus estuary and, even without binoculars, he could spot species a long way off. A real godsend to keen and experienced birdwatchers like us.
Wonderful boat trip (small-scale) through the estuary of the Tag. Seen many waders, black ibis, black-tailed godwit, black-tailed godwits, and flamingos. Very relaxed guide.
Carlos takes you to the Tagus estuary with professionalism and solid knowledge of the environment. He speaks several languages and knows which birds are in each place, highly recommended.
Danke Carlos!
