Lisbon & Sintra Day Trip – History, Culture & Iconic Landmarks

Alex was an amazing guide , well informed , interesting , friendly and also an excellent driver .

Six of us, many history buffs, went with guide Alex to Sintra . We were picked up from our hotel in Lisbon. Alex was an enthusiastic and efficient guide. Very knowledgeable. He said that most people only visit two of the monuments in Sentra and drive around and see things the rest of the time. We really wanted to see three of them and he managed to make it fit in a way that was satisfying to all of us. One person in our group had some arthritis and difficulty walking, and he found places for him to sit down and was very accommodating. We had a good tour of Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleria and Montserrat. We were extremely pleased with the whole experience.

Such a fantastic day with our guide Raphael! We were so impressed with his knowledge of Portugal history. He engaged with us, answered all of our questions, and was full of energy and excitement throughout the day. Would not have been the same without his guidance! Highly recommend for an experience you’ll never forget!

Luis was an absolutely fantastic guide! He arrived promptly to pick us up and was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with—his English was perfect. He gave us a wonderful tour and made the entire day feel both seamless and personal. Luis seemed to know everyone in Sintra, which made such a difference. His local connections helped us avoid the typical tourist experience, and he took us to some wonderful local spots we never would have discovered on our own. Our group of five recent law school graduates had an amazing time with him from start to finish. I’ll be returning to Lisbon with my family next year, and I already know I’ll be booking another tour with Luis. I cannot recommend him and this tour highly enough!

We had the BEST guide!!! Tomas made our two different day tours so much fun! His knowledge of Portugal and all its rich history was so engaging and he made it fun! He was so thorough, and passionate about his work, while he made it feel like he was just our friend showing us his favorite places that he truly cared about. I went with a yoga group of 20 and he handled us like a trooper with all our questions. A lot of laughs! A tour guide can make or break a day out and he nailed it twice! He heard we wanted to go to an old cemetery and surprised us that that bonus! Thank you, Tomas! And of course, our great driver also!!

Excellent experience, our guide Raphael was prompt,knowledgeable and cared for us like family and a lot of fun as well.The sites were amazing and beautiful. We had a great experience touring with Raphael from Wonder Van Tours. Everything was easy and well organized, especially traveling with young kids. They provided a van along with a toddler seat and infant seat, which we appreciated, even though both were a few years old. The dated gear and car were the only slight drawbacks of our experience. Visiting Quinta da Regaleira was a highlight and perfect for our energetic 3.5-year-old. Raphael shared a mix of interesting history and fun theories that kept everyone engaged. He was very helpful with our children and made navigating the area stress free. Overall, a very positive experience and we would definitely recommend.

This was a high quality day of history, culture , and wonderful sights. Raphael was a terrific guide. He was knowledgeable and considerate, very accommodating to our interests and made sure we saw all the important sites. His English was extremely good and we had no problem understanding all the info he imparted. I left the day with a deeper understanding on regional and national history. Highly recommend!

Well worth it! Tomás personalized the experience for each of us, making it a one of a kind, personal tour of Sintra. From taking us to Sintra, giving historical background based on interests, talking about current challenges locally, showing us his own personal landmarks (we even saw where he was born), to learning about the economy of cork and becoming knowledge on local economics, the entire tour was personalized. We also went to a local, personal hot spot, took lunch to eat over the ocean (the waves!), and got safety tips and shopping recommendations. Well worth it.
