Knights Templar Castle, Nazaré & Óbidos️ Private Day Tour

I booked this tour because my spouse and I love history and we also wanted the opportunity to see the country outside of Lisbon too. We were completely in awe of the Knights Templar site. It was truly beautiful and without the crowds of Sintra. We also enjoyed the towns of Nazare and Obidos which each offered something interesting to see and learn. Our guide Keith was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and answered so many of our questions. We had a great day with Keith as he walked us thru each site. I will speak of this tour often to friends who want to hear about our trip to Lisbon.

Keith was a wonderful guide and the experience was very easy and enjoyable. Each sight was unique and interesting and the entire day was very relaxed and informative, as well as comfortable.

Gui was our incredible guide. He is a 5 star guide who is charming, friendly and is guad-lingual. He provided a very fun and educational experience. We learned a great about the history or Portugal and the Knights Templar during our entire 8 hour day together. The entrance fees were reasonable. The visits to Nazare and Obidos were really great as well. Really cool little towns! This is a great trip for couples and groups of 6 or less. Don't hesitate to book with Jumpin Tours. We highly recommend them!

It was an amazing tour. It is all day but we expected and planned for that so it was no problem. Our tour guide, Gui, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. We would absolutely book a tour with this company again and ask for Gui as our guide!

We had the most amazing driver! Gui. He made certain that we had the best experience possible. From the moment he picked us up until he dropped us back off, he made sure that we had a good time. He knew his facts and explained them in a way we all could understand. Very personable and professional guide. By the end of the tour, I think we all felt like we had made a new friend.

Amazing Day! All 3 locations were incredible. We learned a lot about the Knights Templar then a really nice visit to Nazare and finally the enchanting town of Obidos where we did the the wall walk. It was an incredible day and Gui was an awesome guide. Highly recommend!

This trip was truly the cherry on top of our time in Portugal. Our guide, Keith, was incredibly knowledgeable about the country’s history, but what made the experience special was how engaging and fun he made it. We were able to see places and experience things that are uniquely Portuguese—things we never would have discovered on our own. I absolutely loved seeing Tomar and The Knights Templar church. I really appreciate architecture and beautiful buildings and the church did not disappoint. It really was stunning and being a circular church was different to anything I have ever seen before. Keith was able to share some really interesting information also. This is no criticism of Keith as we agreed to go to Nazare but if you have the opportunity to skip Nazare and go somewhere else instead I would recommend you do this, unless you are travelling at the time of year when you may see the big waves. Otherwise it is just another beach with a tiny town and in my opinion not worth the travel involved to go there and back. Finally we finished our day visiting Obidos, a medieval town. I was really looking forward to seeing Obidos as coming from New Zealand we do not have any history that is that old. I did enjoy it but do feel it is a bit over hyped. In summary the day was worth it for me being able to see the Knights Templar church alone. Thank you Keith for being a great guide and thank you for your patience and assisting my sister up all the stairs at the church and castle complex. She really appreciated it.

It was wonderful to see and hear of the history of the Templar Knights and the convent, to see where an 87 ft wave was to beat the record in surfing and to see a medieval town. Our guide Joao was truly wonderful. He was exemplary, with tremendous customer experience. You could not find a better guide.

We booked a private tour, which all things considered, was reasonable. Our two guides, Antonio and Keith were very knowledgeable about the history and interesting facts of the places we visited. We had ample time in each location to fully take in the sites. They were helpful in suggesting a lunch spot at Nazare where I had the best burger ever!! Due to the storms that devastated Portugal, a part of our tour had to be adjusted. Antonio contacted us well in advance with a fabulous alternative. The guys went above and beyond and took the time to make sure the tour was enjoyable. Cudos to Jump In Tours, I would definitely use them again.

Miguel made this so much more than a sightseeing trip. His deep knowledge of Portuguese history — especially the Templar roots at Convento de Cristo — turned every stop into a real story. Nazaré was stunning, and Óbidos charmed us completely. You can feel his genuine love for his country throughout the day. One of those rare tours you’ll still be talking about weeks later.

We had a great private day trip with Gui. He was knowledgeable, personable, and shared much about life in Lisbon . He even had the ability to have it rain only when we were driving between stops so we could enjoy drier weather at our sites 😀

Joao was a wealth of knowledge and a great tour guide. Helped us with ideas for our whole vacation. Had great recommendations on food, fado, etc. Only regret is we wish we had done the tour earlier so we had ideas sooner!

This experience would have been great, if the castle was open and accessible. However, due to recent catastrophic storms, we were not able to see enter the Knights Templar castle or the alternative castle. But Keith was a knowledgeable and personable tour guide who did his best to make the most of the day. The tour operator refunded half of our purchase price because of the problems. Nazaré and Óbidos are both worth seeing.

A wonderful day spent with João exploring three interesting spots and learning a TON about Portugal. We spent a good bit of time all laughing at various stories, as Joao is super knowledgeable and fun. Even though the waves were small at Nazare, it was a great spot for lunch along the ocean. A+++ guide…. You can’t go wrong with João.

Our group of six had an amazing tour with Gui. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic and all in all an excellent guide! He showed us amazing sites, gave us history lessons wherever we went. First to Templars castle where he told us interesting facts and stories that made the castle come alive for us. In Óbidos we had a quick lunch and wandered around the beautiful town. We met a wonderful lady selling nuts, they were delicious btw! He also took us on a walk on the castle wall…he’s fearless! We had such a great time with him and he’s a great driver too! Highly recommend him and we all think he should be a partner in the tour company! He represents them in such a way that we thought he did own the company! Such pride in his tours and the knowledge and passion he shared really made the tour unforgettable! Thank You Gui for an amazing tour, we will book with you again whenever we make it back to Lisbon!

The Castle Tomar is spectacular, amazing original architecture and excellent restorations! Nazare is a nice beach town although its big wave reputation has ruined the “small fishing village” vibe. Obidos castle is charming, many shops selling unique wares. Our guide, João is incredibly knowledgeable not only about the destinations on this tour but also about Lisbon and the history of Portugal.

João proved to be incredibly knowledgeable about all of the destinations he took us to today. We will definitely ask for João in the future for his insight and location knowledge in the future.

Very good day with Keith. Be prepared for lots of steps at the Knights Templar castle. We didn’t realize it was a private tour which was a bonus!

This was a private tour and we couldn't have had a better guide than Keith. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The Templars Castle was excellent not what I was expecting. It was a treat to visit Nazare and the weather was sunny. The stroll through the lovely village of Obidos was a treat. This trip far exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend it especially with Keith as a guide as he made it a special day

Keith was the absolute best guide we could have had. He showed us all the sites we wanted to see, knew all the history, and has a delightful sense of humor. And he was patient with two elders who don’t walk or climb fast. Highly recommend the tour and Keith.

Every place we visited was spectacular! The travel time was long but it was compensated with a memorable experience. I did not expect Obidos to be such a charming place. I could stay there the whole day! Our guide, Gui, was fun to be with and gave us so many information about every places we visited. He was like a walking encyclopedia! He also picked and dropped us off on time from our hotel. Great day trip in total!

We had a fabulous day tour with Joao, our tour guide. Unfortunately Templers Castle was closed the day we arrived so Joao made alternate plans for another castle and it worked out great! Nazaré and Obidos were wonderful too! I highly recommend this tour, you won’t regret it!! Be sure to ask for Joao!!

Gui was our fantastic guide for the day. He was incredibly knowledgeable and so fun and friendly. Gui was especially accommodating as we were travelling with our 90-yera-old father. He made sure he was comfortable and stayed with him when an excursion was too difficult. My sister and I cannot thank him enough for his kindness, but mostly for the amazing tour. We got to see the Templar castle and learn about the history of the Templars in the region; we got to see the beach at Nazare, where Gui guided us to the best photo spots; and we loved the charming medieval town of Obidos! Lovely way to see more of Portugal, thank you, Gui!

This was my 2nd trip to Portugal and it did not disappoint. Both Keith and Gui were amazing guides. We explored the templars castle, Fatima and the old city of Obidos. Both of them were very knowledgeable and friendly. Even though we went above the time limit, they were very understanding of it. The tour can easily be tailored to what one wants to see and that’s great as it gives the extra flexibility to plan. I would definitely recommend them and will myself tour again with them next time I am in Portugal.
