Very easy to follow instructions and fantastic food. Enjoyed the hands on experience and the historical background of each of the dishes

Overall it was a very nice introduction to Portuguese dishes. Chefs were very nice and explanatory. You won't have full hands-on cooking but you will collaborate with others on adding ingredients or stirring/chopping.
It was so much fun to cook with my family and meet new people. The instructors were very friendly and informative. Our food was delicious!!!
Good food, however felt more like a cooking demonstration than a cooking class. Our instructor was always doing the steps for us or when it got to the steps with the prawns and for most in our group first time taking the shell off the prawn, our instructor did over half of them herself because she claimed she really likes doing it. We had three hours but it felt very rushed to get everything done in two. Overall liked but not loved.
This class was great! We are relatively experienced with cooking, but this class was perfect because while some people got the general “learn to cook” explanations, we still felt like it was a great class because we learned all about Portuguese-specific cooking and definitely came home with recipes we will be repeating. You definitely won’t leave this class hungry, plenty of food was made and all of it was delicious!
We enjoy it! It was nice to learn about Portuguese cuisine and experience hands on preparation of the dishes.
Our host Ana was fantastic. Very informative and relaxed. This was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed and I am not a cook.
We had a fantastic time with Anna. A great way to learn more about portuguese food and have a delicious meal. Would definitely try another class- it was a great experience.
It ended up just being the four of us so it was like a private lesson. Anna was great. So knowledgeable about the food she was sharing and Portugal in general. We had fun and the food turned out great.
Not much to say...... It was an absolute fantastic experience. Cooked from ingredients that we bought together with Jose at the market. Made a variety fish Cataplana. Thank you for being just great.
The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and well organized. The instruction was clear and the food was excellent. Our entire class was from the US and we bonded instantly. If you can fit this class into your trip, I highly recommend it!
We had a wonderful evening learning new cooking skills and meeting new people. The teaching staff was friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Overall a fantastic experience. We enjoyed cooking and eating traditional Portuguese food. We would highly recommend.
It was great. My husband decided to join me at the last minute and I think he had the most fun. Fun!
We had the best time and learned so much in this class! I've done these types of classes before and this was by far the best experience! Our instructor was knowledgeable and flexible, she shared cooking secrets and tips we will always remember. She also shared insight on the city and the region, giving us cool ideas for activities. The dishes had variety and were delicious! We have the recipes and will make them again at home! The event was more than worth the cost, and we have memories for a lifetime. Thank you team!
Was a fun time! We had nina and marta ! You get to learn the history behind the dishes while also getting to taste your tasty hard work after. Some of the class came late but they were able to still get the rest of us on time. Came solo and left with many friends!
Great experience. The instructors were knowledgeable and patient. I’ve been cooking for a long time but still learned so much. It was a clean and well set up cooking space. Each small group has their own station and worked to prep each dish under the instructor’s watch. The food was wonderful! Sharing the meal with the other students at the end made for a wonderful evening. Highly recommend this company.
We highly recommend this excellent experience. My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening here. The surroundings were very modern and clean and our instructors not only stepped us through preparing several delicious, authentic Portuguese dishes, but also shared a lot of fascinating information about the cultural aspects of these items. We also teamed up with some others to prepare the meal and share the food we made with all 10 people who attended the class. As a bonus, we became so connected with the other two people that we spent the rest of the evening with them at a wonderful outdoor bar nearby and will see then again in the future.
Wonderful class learning to cook Portuguese dishes. We enjoyed meeting other travelers. The food was delicious and definitely can be made at home. We made Peri Peri chicken, codfish with cream and shrimp à guilho.
Great time for all cooks no matter what your experience level is. We cooked 3 courses and everything was delicious. Cant wait to try the recipes at home for family and friends to enjoy.
What a great experience! This was offered as an optional event during the Grand Tour of Portugal and Spain that I was a part of this past May. I would say that this was a highlight of that tour! Everything was organized and preparation was guided by our chefs (both excellent) and the meal that was enjoyed was one of the top meals that I enjoyed during this tour! I learned a lot of the "how-to's" of Portuguese cooking and will be replicating this for my family and friends for sure! Thank you to Compadres Cooking School for a great evening!
This class was worth every penny! I highly recommend you take one of their courses while in Lisbon. The staff were amazing. They were patient and provided clear instructions. They provided us with the history of the dishes we cooked and made us feel completely comfortable in the kitchen. The best part...sitting down with everyone afterwards and eating what we had cooked.
We had the most enjoyable experience. Learned a lot and really had a great time. We were especially lucky to have Anna as an instructor at our workstation, she was very knowledgeable, fun and very helpful. Great stories and tips. All 3 dishes came out absolutely delicious, much better than in most restaurants!
We joined several other tourists in making an appetizer, main dish, and dessert and had such a great experience. The instructors were so patient and helpful, explaining the customary Portuguese dishes - prawn appetizers, cod casserole, and custard deserts. There was plenty of wine and lots of laughter.
Great Fun and a excellent way to taste the culture and understand it through eating. Easy to understand, and the flow was well prepared
A nice way to learn about Portuguese cooking in a casual atmosphere. Made 3 savory protein dishes. Hosts were pleasant and the kids enjoyed the hands-on experience. No dessert option and only one bottle of wine offered for 5 adults.
I will definitely make these recipes when I return home. Chef Ana did a fine job explaining and teaching the class. The dishes were delicious!
Our cooking class was very fun. The other couples who were there were fun to work with and our cooking instructors. Give us a lot of good information and help us with cooking. It would've been nicer to have wine while we were doing the cooking and it would've been nice to have a dessert included as well.
Anna the instructor was so wonderful! She explained everything in such a colorful way. Now we know more history if Portugal and great recipes!
We really enjoyed our authentic Portuguese cookery masterclass! We were made to feel very welcome, the dishes were straightforward to prepare and there was a very sociable atmosphere. It was a delight to sit down with our fellow students at the end to end our dishes. Great fun!
Loved the whole experience. Anna was a great chef teacher. Food was incredible! Will definitely do again!
Marta and Ana were incredible instructors who offered an authentic local perspective throughout the cooking experience. They provided cultural and historical insight on the Portuguese cuisine and taught skills we could replicate at home. The recipes were sooooo delicious!

Was such a fun and knowledgeable experience, and the food was delicious! Anna and her colleague were the best instructors, would definitely recommend!
This was a great time and also very educational. The ladies were very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Not to mention the finished product was delicious. I would highly recommend to family, clients and friends.
We learnt to make peri peri chicken, cod with dream and a prawn dish. The food was SO good I couln't believe I had actually cooked it! Teachers were very knowledgable and recipes were easy enough to cook at home again myself. Would definitely recommend this class.
It was good but had better experiences than this class in other cities. Learned so much about salted cod in the Portuguese culture. Cod dish with cream was very rich and would have preferred something less rich. Pili pili dish was good.
We had a great time doing this cooking class! We were 4 couples visiting Portugal for the first time, and we did this on the 2nd day of our trip, which turned out to be a great intro into Portuguese cuisine for us. The instructors gave us lots of info on Bacalhau (salted cod) and its importance to the national cuisine. We also got to taste and learn about the different spicy peppers that the Portuguese favor. This helped inform our choices in restaurants for the rest of the trip, since we had a better idea of what we were ordering and what we liked. We made a total of 3 dishes- the Piri Piri Chicken was my favorite. One member of our party didn't like the fact that we had to prep the shrimp by removing their heads and deveining them, but she just had a glass of wine while the rest of us finished up. They were generous with the wine at lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed eating with the 4 other class participants before we had to leave so they could get ready for the next class. Several members of our group said that this was their favorite thing we did while on this week-long trip. It's definitely one we'd all recommend. I would have liked to have done the Pastel de Nata one too!

We had the best time learning to cook authentic Portuguese food at Compadre. Anna was an incredible instructor, and we really enjoyed getting to cook with others and eating it all family style. The food was insanely delicious. The best part is that they give you all their recipes so you can cook them at home too!
This was a great experience and also nice to interact with people from all around the world. The staff were lovely and the food even more so (because WE cooked it ourselves 😉): Cod, Chicken PiriPiri etc. No skills needed because staff prepped everything already. Some suggestions to have an even better experience: have some more options for drinks (now only white/red wine and tap water were available), turning up the music during cooking would be nice (there was a small speaker, but almost quiet) and also gloves would be handy for some (fish) preparations. One other thing that was weird is that they still provide COVID rules in their communication (faces masks, distancing etc), and they keep reminding about this in their emails. Tip; update your emails templates. Overall: we had a great evening.
Really enjoyed the hands-on work, the local food info and history and the finished product was great. Good fellowship with the others taking the class. Overall top experience.
What to say? When we booked we didn’t know what we would cook and what would happened… but the location was amazing and the hosts, incredible! The history of the dishes, the friendly people around, it felt we’ve knew the other guests for years! So if you want some good memories, this is the place to go, have fun and eat incredible food!
The class was amazing! Best way to taste local flavours. Our instructor, Marta, was fantastic: knowledgeable and entertaining. Ana was great as well. We cooked 3 dishes that were delicious. We learned a lot about Portugal, its main dishes, and history. It's a must when visiting Lisbon.
We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. Hands on fun. With helpful teachers. Highly recommend this experience.
This was a great way to spend our last night in Lisbon! Anna and Marta were very informative about the history of the recipes we prepared. Anna was great at providing instruction for the meal prep and the 3 dishes we prepared were all fantastic. We can’t wait to try them when we get back home!
We were very disappointed that we had to end our trip to Lisbon due to an emergency. We were even more disappointed that Compadre Cooking School showed no compassion whatsoever and despite our rescheduled class being 2 weeks after we were forced to cancel, Compadre Cooking School had a “too bad, so sad, we’re keeping your money anyway” attitude. Personally, I wouldn’t choose to do business with anyone that lacks empathy and compassion. You shouldn’t either.
What a wonderful time we had! Marta & Anna were very knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable & delicious! We are a family of 5 with kids in their 20’s and this was a highlight of our time in Lisbon- definitely recommend!
Anna was an amazing instructor sharing with us, the history and traditions of Portuguese cooking, step by step instructions, resulting in delicious creations. Fantastic venue!
Marta was so wonderful! She explained Portuguese cooking in a warm and welcoming manner. I will definitely be making these recipes at home. I learned some foundational skills that will help dinners br a more enjoyable experience.
This was such a fun class. Not only did we prepare some traditional Portuguese dishes, we learned about the culture and traditions associated with them.
