Mario, our guide and driver, drove us into a back alley and tried to mug us. Luckily he's not a very good criminal and took us to some beautiful places in Sintra instead. Mario was really knowledgeable and educated us on the history of the palaces and the local politics. The real criminals were at the fish restaurant at Cascais. Watch your wallets while you're there and watch where you step for dog poop. All in all, a memorable day. Thanks Mario !
A wonderful tour from start to finish! Both our guide and driver were excellent—highly professional, friendly, and attentive. Everything was exceptionally well organized, with great attention to timing and smooth coordination throughout. Communication and customer service were outstanding. A truly enjoyable experience that I would highly recommend!
J-lo was amazing. Highly recommend this tour. The tour was well managed and the communication was excellent.
JLo has a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable with lots of interesting facts. Overall a very enjoyable tour!
Ivo, our tour guide is really awesome. He is very knowledgeable and has given us a lot of information about the places that we have visited in Sintra and Portugal in general. He is very accommodating and pleasant as well.
Ivo was the best guide I’ve ever had. His jokes are funny and he made sure we were all present. I can’t wait to visit again so I can do a tour with Ivo again. We had the best bus driver. She is super skilled going up the mountains!!!! For the skinny: I’m American.. solo traveler.. I waited until the last minute to purchase, so the $30 was misleading. I had no clue it would be closer to $100. I’m on a month long trip, so that matters. It’s a nice trip… I’m glad I went. It took a while to walk up to the castle. I didn’t know there was an option for a shuttle to go up the hill until getting there, but I walked it. It takes about an hour just to walk around it and there are some lines just walking around. I don’t know how people who got tickets to go inside had time to do that.
This was a great day trip, though the group felt too big; everything else about it was good. The weather was perfect. Pedro was a great guide, super informative and good energy all around. I would highly recommend this tour.
Ivo the tour guide is amazing. He is super informative and very funny. He gave out more information than most tour guides along with recommendations at each location for places to eat based on dietary needs. The bus driver Lurdes was superb. I'm so glad I booked this trip. They made the experience perfect.
Ivo was our guide and he did an amazing job. Lourdes our driver was outstanding
Ivo and Junior were our guide and driver and did an excellent job. When an older person in our group was unable to do the steep climbs, Ivo instructed us to grab an Uber and meet the group at the next stop and then sent us the tickets so we'd be able to enter.
It was a different order but we went to Pena Palace first (which is great because less people!!), then Moorish Castle and the rest of the trip. It is a great price because for what I paid, I got a ticket to the Palace and the Regaleira in a comfortable bus. Craaazy hiking though but they warn you about this. Alex was our bus driver and he drove pretty smoothly. Our tour guide was Mario and he is a no nonsense guy, gave us adequate time and kept the group under control so we were able to hit all of the spots and get home by 5pm sharp. I would book with this company and Mario again in a heart beat. I am writing this review without bring prompted unlike in the other tours!
Our guide Ivo was knowledgeable and engaging throughout the day! Along with the driver Ivan, they took great care of us and made everything possible for our convenience on pick up/drop off points. Although we were a group of 40, everyone was in a good mood and it all ran very smoothly! Nice day trip!
It was a very good trip with a very good guide-Rita. Rita explained everything and I learned more about the history of Lisbon, Sintra and the Pena Palace. Can’t say enough good things about Rita.
Wonderful full day. Amazing sites like Quinta da Regalaira with its impressive well and grotto in Sintra and the Pena Palace, finishing with an afternoon along the ocean. A lot of walking and some of it is fairly steep, but worth the effort once you’ve arrived at your eye-candy destination. Kudos to our personable and knowledge guide Ivo and his faithful sidekick, driver Ivan! Not something to do on your own. Tour is pretty much a must and a good value.
The trip was absolutely worth every penny …. Very well organized , on schedule for everything , enough time to do everything .. my guide’s name was Ivo and he is the Best guide I have ever met .. . Funny , entertaining , very knowledgeable .. he made the trip so very lively and enthusiastic .. highly recommend .
Fabulous trip ! It was well planned, plenty of stop offs and the guide Mario was amazing -he gave us clear instructions through the day ,interesting talks about the history and the Portuguese culture and architecture. The palace at Sintra was spectacular but we didn’t go inside due to queues but there was plenty to see outside and we felt we didn’t miss out . Lunch at Cascais was the icing on the cake !
I o was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and fun, giving just the right amount of info about history and the sites visited.
Very educational, funny, and excellent experience from bus transfer to places we visited by our guide Ivo, and of course with the driving expetise of Junior. Ivo took time explaining history, and even took our pictures in great locations making sure we were happy. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who will visit Lisbon.
Ivo and Miguel did a good job. We had fun and memorable time. The imitation well, Quinta de Regaleira were one of a kind.
Ivo was an absolutely wonderful guide. You can tell he loves his job and wants his guests to have the best experience. Jr was also a great driver- felt very safe with him. Sintra and Cascais were beautiful and it was a great way to spend a day.
The tour guide Ivo was very knowledgeble , he explained everything very well. Kept everyone happy. The driver Junior too was s very careful driver.
J Lo was an excellent guide and it was a great day trip. Full of great information. Lots of stairs...hills but it's Portugal after all. Would do it again
Junior the driver is exceptionnaly prudent and cordial. Ivo the guide is the most efficient and knowledgable guide I have ever met. I recommend. 1000%
Lots of walking- uphills and uphill on cobblestone and steep stairs. Wear appropriate shoes. The drive was very fun and educational with a very smart guide, Ivo.
Excellent tour guide, very informative and he got sense of humor, make the trip joyful. I can recommend this tour
Dear Odyssey Customer Support Team, I am writing to appeal the “No-show” classification of my first booking for the tour scheduled on 18 October, for which I had paid $131.23 in full under booking reference BR-1453442437. As I was unfamiliar with Lisbon, I relied on the directions provided to locate the tour’s meeting point. Unfortunately, I was directed to an alternative location approximately 10 minutes away from the original meeting point. After joining a long queue for registration, I was eventually redirected to the original meeting point. By the time I arrived, however, the tour group had already departed. I was understandably distressed by the situation, as I had made a genuine effort to attend the tour but was unable to join due to the confusion surrounding the meeting location. What made matters worse was that I was unable to reach anyone from Odyssey for assistance, despite leaving several messages. I was left stranded and with no practical way to resolve the situation at the time. Rather than forgo the experience entirely, I had no choice but to make a second booking for the following day, 19 October, and pay again for the same tour. Fortunately, the tour went smoothly the next day, once I was familiar with the correct meeting location, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In view of these circumstances, I respectfully request a full refund of $131.23 for my original booking. I believe it would be unfair for my first booking to be treated as a no-show without considering the genuine effort I made to attend, the confusion over the meeting location, and the lack of timely assistance when I needed it. Having paid twice for the same tour simply to ensure that I could participate, I sincerely hope Odyssey will review my case fairly and consider the circumstances beyond my control. Thank you for taking the time to look into this matter. I would greatly appreciate your understanding and a favourable resolution to my refund request. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, melissa Tan
Packed agenda with a ton of content. Exactly as advertised. The palace is amazing- it’s a long day but would do it again in a heartbeat- shout out to Evol and Junior our driver.
Lots of walking but not hurried; gorgeous sights and a great look into Portuguese history and culture. Our driver was Junior and our superb guide (knowledgeable, personable and humorous) had a name that I know I have mangled - Iffu (sp?) - apologies to him in advance.
Mario (guide) and Junior (driver) we terrific. They are very punctual, organized and informative. Lots of great information shared. Wonderful experience
Ivo was a great guide, knowledgable and fun! Jr our driver is a very good driver and always on time. :) Definitely recommend!
Wonderful site visits with LOTS of walking. There should be a fitness requirement 😅 that said the tour was spectacular and is best with company.
We felt very safe with our bus driver Rajshahi. Our guide Rita was amazing! She was personable and knowledgeable. She greeted and spent time with each guest. It was a full day, lots of walking uphill, free time to explore and beautiful sights. We felt this was well worth the time and money!
Our guide JLo organized the tour well, well knowledged with a good sense of humor, Great tour! Highly recommended
A very good exposure to a number of Lisbon’s primary attractions. A lot to fit in but generally well managed.
the 2 hours at Pena was 1 and a half including 15 minutes up and 15 minutes down the hill. the initial part of the palace was so packed that it took almost all of our hour there. the extensive walking must be better publicized. there were people on our tour that couldn't handle it.
Our guide J-LO was absolutely brilliant, so funny & very informative, gave loads of interesting information & history on Lisbon, Cascais, Pena & Quinta Da Regaleira. Quinta da Regaleira is an absolute must & well worth paying extra for the entrance tickets, really relieved we only purchased the garden & outside tickets for Pena palace as the queues were so long it’s not guaranteed you’d see inside within the allocated time limit, I researched before booking which advised outside tickets are enough & not worth paying the extra to go inside. J-Lo was the best tour guide I’ve ever had & highly recommended Odyssey tours & if you are lucky enough to have J-LO as your guide you’re in for a great trip. Thank you so much J-LO for such a memorable experience.
Lots of walking and steps to climb to Pena. If you have issue with walking this tour is not for you to choose
It’s a long day but a wonderful day of such amazing places. Our tour guide and bus driver IVO and Ivan were amazing. Such a great sense of humor with lots of history mixed in . This is a perfect tour for a day in Portugal!! Thank you
Pedro was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English and explained everything properly. He went above and beyond
Seats were too small and space was cramped on the bus. Time at each location was not enough and felt rushed. Recommended restaurant for lunch was not good. Better to take a train to each and spend the day at your own pace.
The tour got us to Sintra which I wanted to see but the logistics left much to be desired. Supposed to be 8 hours it was a grueling 10.5 hours even with everyone on time. Started at 8am with lunch scheduled for 3pm. Really? I would have gladly skipped lunch and just driven back to Lisboa. Then the lunch stop was two hours. Way too long. Too long at the castles as well this tour needs to be shortened and/or totally reworked. If I had known all this in advance I would have looked for something different.
An Incredible Day Exploring Sintra, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais! We had an incredible time on this tour! Our guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining what to expect throughout the day. He was clear about the itinerary and helped us understand how the day would unfold, which made the experience much more enjoyable. A few tips for anyone planning to book this tour: Meeting point: It can be a little chaotic because there are so many people gathering for different tours. Don't worry! Just find one of the tour guides near Starbucks, give them your name, and they will direct you to the correct guide. Be prepared to walk! The bus can only get so close to many of the attractions, so expect a fair amount of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to explore. Pena Palace was beautiful, with breathtaking scenery and incredible photo opportunities. The views are spectacular, and the pictures came out outstanding. Quinta da Regaleira was another highlight. The walk through the grounds was beautiful, with so much to see along the way and plenty of opportunities for photography. Take your time to appreciate the surroundings. Cabo da Roca was beautiful, but keep in mind that this is a fairly quick stop, with only a few minutes to take photos and enjoy the views. Cascais is where I have an important recommendation. You get approximately an hour and a half there at the end of the tour. Knowing this ahead of time, we decided to stay in Cascais and make our own way back to Lisbon by train. It was very simple, with just a few stops back to Lisbon. I highly recommend considering this option if you want more time to enjoy Cascais. By the time you sit down for a meal, you may find that there isn't enough time left to explore the town and do some shopping before the group departs. Staying behind gave us the flexibility to enjoy Cascais at our own pace rather than feeling rushed. Overall, this was a fantastic day filled with beautiful scenery, memorable sights, and great experiences. Mike was a knowledgeable guide, and the tour was an excellent way to see several of Portugal's most beautiful destinations in one day. I highly recommend this tour! Just wear comfortable shoes, know what to expect at each stop, and seriously consider staying in Cascais a little longer if your schedule allows. You won't regret it!
Great tour. Recommend it highly than trying to do this on your own. I’ve was a wonderful tour guide and Ivan a great bus driver. Wear good shoes because it’s a hike and soooo worth it!!
We had a great tour to Sintra & Cascais today with Ivo our tour guide & Ivan our driver. Ivo was engaging & knowledgeable & regaled us with interesting stories of Portuguese history/events. The tour was well organised and managed to cover a lot in a short space of time. Highly recommended!
Completely disorganised. The pick up address on the Viator website is different than the one they message you the morning of - also no one will answer the number in the morning if you are lost. The guide does not give you consistent times for when you will be breaking up and meeting again - said one thing on the bus and then messages you another time. You’re also not told any timetable information until you’re already on the bus or already at the relevant location - we weren’t told how long we would have at Pena Palace until we were there, and not until we were on the bus in the morning were we told that lunch would be at 3pm. Unnecessarily long stops in random places as well. Honestly book your own trip - don’t bother with this. $140 AUD just to be shuffled around and pushed on your way with just the barest information and a complete lack of structure was not worth it at all. Our guide half the time wasn’t even there to guide us - would just text us locations in the WhatsApp group. Don’t do this tour
Diogo is a very good guide. He was funny and at the same time informative. He treated us like a family in its true sense. Overall the trip was good.
Even though there was a lot of walking JLo the tour guide made it enjoyable and an exceptional experience
Our guide Rui C. was informative, organized, and genuinely funny and engaging. He shared his knowledge with us without overwhelming. Our bus driver Lurdes was amazingly skilled. The ride was very smooth and comfortable.
We took a couple of tours . One was with Alex (Fatima , Nazare and Óbidos) This was an awesome trip . Spiritually enriching for us . Alex took the time to give us details about the place and its history . He was very accommodating and one of the best we have had . For Sintra, Just hard for those people with medical issues or disabilities . Other than that, the beauty of places is captivating . A must see. Our tour guide, Rui C was also great . He was precise and well organized especially with a bigger group . Both were an outstanding trip .
