Booked a private tour. Miscommunication between operator and tour guide resulted in tour leaving 45 minutes later than scheduled. Had we not called after waiting in the hotel lobby for 15 minutes, they likely would have been an hour later than. Car lost electrical power as well so for part of the journey there was no A/C in late July. Eventually car broke down and they arranged an Uber back to the hotel from the middle of the road. Tour operator basically took no responsibility. We only received a “sorry”. Hard to recommend this company after that experience.

Itinerary
Perched high above the Sintra Mountains, Pena Palace is Portugal's most iconic fairytale castle and one of Europe's finest examples of 19th-century Romanticism. Its vibrant red and yellow towers, intricate Manueline carvings, Moorish influences, and Neo-Gothic architecture create an unforgettable silhouette overlooking the Atlantic coast. Once the summer residence of Portugal's royal family, the palace preserves lavishly decorated rooms, royal chambers, and elegant halls that transport visitors back to the final days of the monarchy. Surrounded by lush gardens filled with exotic plants, hidden pathways, serene lakes, and breathtaking viewpoints, Pena Palace offers spectacular panoramas stretching across Sintra and, on clear days, all the way to Lisbon. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a masterpiece where history, architecture, nature, and romance come together, making it an unmissable highlight of any journey through Portugal.
Step into a world of mystery and enchantment at Quinta da Regaleira, one of Sintra’s most extraordinary UNESCO-listed landmarks. Explore a captivating estate where romantic architecture, lush gardens, and hidden symbolism intertwine. Discover the magnificent Neo-Manueline palace, wander through secret tunnels and enchanting grottoes, and descend into the famous Initiation Well, a spiraling staircase steeped in Masonic symbolism and ancient legends. As your guide unveils the stories behind this remarkable estate, uncover the fascinating vision of its former owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro. From hidden passages to mystical gardens, every corner reveals a new secret. Experience the magic, history, and mystery of Quinta da Regaleira on an unforgettable journey through one of Portugal’s most captivating monuments.

Very good experience, highly recommended. Professional, knowledgeable and with good sense of humor
What an amazing experience! I highly recommend it!
This was easily one of the best experiences of our trip to Portugal. Monserrate Palace is absolutely stunning, with beautiful gardens and fascinating architecture, while Pena Palace feels like something out of a fantasy novel. Francisco was an exceptional guide from beginning to end. His knowledge of Sintra’s history, symbolism, and hidden stories made every stop much more meaningful. Everything was perfectly organized, the timing was ideal, and we never felt rushed. I couldn’t recommend this tour more.
I loved the detailed explanation of the captivating history of Pena Palace; it is undoubtedly one of the most stunning palaces and sites in the entire country. Combined with Monserrate, it was the best of both worlds, as the peace that Monserrate Palace gave us was the perfect balance between these magnificent monuments.
Fantastic tour, very well guided. It brought a sense of peace, balance, and a beauty I had never admired in such a grand and breathtaking way.
Miguel was an outstanding tour guide who provided lots of stories and memorable moments. He felt organized, competent and most importantly passionate. We were extremely happy with his guidance!
Miguel was great tour guide and very nice
Truly fantastic experience, an absolute must-do! 😊 The tour from Lisbon took us to discover wonderful places like the Palácio da Pena, the Quinta da Regaleira, and Cabo da Roca, with a very well-organized itinerary. The selection of stops, the time dedicated to each visit, and the route as a whole were truly excellent and allowed us to see and appreciate everything without rushing. A special thanks to our guide Luís, who was very friendly, helpful, and above all, excellent at telling us the history and interesting facts about each place. Thanks to his explanations, we were able to better understand what we were visiting and experience it even more intensely.
I loved the detailed explanation about the fascinating history of the Pena Palace. Without a doubt, it is one of the most stunning palaces in Portugal, both for its unique architecture and for the historical wealth it carries. The combination of the visit to the Pena Palace with the Palace of Monserrate was simply perfect. While the grandiosity and imposition of Pena impress every moment, the quiet atmosphere and the lush gardens of Monserrate provide a harmonious contrast, allowing you to appreciate two distinct but equally charming sides of the heritage of Sintra. It was undoubtedly the best of both worlds and an unforgettable experience.
A great day in Sintra This was, without a doubt, one of the best tours of our trip to Portugal. The Peña Palace impresses with its colors and amazing views, but the great highlight for us was the Palace of Monserrate. It is a quiet place, with stunning gardens and much less busy, which made the visit even more special. The Cabo da Roca was simply spectacular. Being at the westernmost point of continental Europe, with those cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean in front of us, was an unforgettable moment. We ended the day in Cascais, a charming coastal village, perfect for walking and relaxing. Our guide was exceptional, very friendly, knowledgeable of history and always available to answer our questions. The small group made all the difference, making the experience much more comfortable and personalized. I recommend this tour to those looking to know the best of Sintra and the Portuguese coast without the stress of the large crowds.
It was a beautiful experience, super professional and empathetic in the guidance, and the places are magical. I am taking away a great memory, thank you very much 🫶🏽
