Fátima, Batalha, Nazaré And Óbidos Private Tour

Magnificent tour visiting Central District Lisbon, Fatima, Nazare, and Obidus, with full information and history of each place, and excellent time management. Our tour guide, Susana Gracia from Van Go Tourism, did an excellent job delivering a world-class service.

This was our second full-day tour booked with Van Go Tourism during our two week visit to Portugal. Our first was a perfect experience and we were anticipating a similar experience for our return trip to Lisbon from Porto, following a Viking River Cruise. We were SO pleased when we discovered our previous Guide would again be taking care of us! Susana is the BEST Guide we had our entire visit! Her knowledge, love for her country, and experience are amazing (and appreciated). Susana picked us up at the Gaia port at 8AM, securely stowed our luggage and began a full days journey back to Lisbon. (We are four adults and we had a lot of luggage!) Our first stop, about 1 hour away, was the canaled city of Aveiro. Susana told us the history of this town, about its salt production and the boats once used for harvesting now carry tourists on the canals. But our first stop was to visit a Aveiro pastry shop to taste ovos moles. Yum! Next we walked to the canal and boarded a colorful moliceiros for an hour ride and narrated cruise through town. Next, we were off to Fatima. Susana related the story of the children's visions and how the Basilica and Sanctuary came to be at this site. Amazing! After a full 2 hours, we headed to the beach resort of Nazare for a beach-side lunch and to witness the huge waves, they are famous for. Susana knew all the details here, too! Our last stop was to the ancient walled city of Obidos. Her knowledge of the history, art and festivals here was amazing! We spent 2 hours enjoying the history and atmosphere of this lovely place. Just before we were to end our time here, Susana had another surprise for us. She directed us to the Cafetaria da Maura for a Ginjinha, a Portuguese liqueur made by infusing ginja berries (sour cherries). Ours was served in a dark chocolate cup. What a perfect way to top off a perfect day. By 8PM, Susana had safely delivered us to our airport hotel in Lisbon. She was the highlight of our trip, a good photographer, and taught us so much. Thank you!

We visited these towns on our last of 3 days touring with Nuno from Van GO Tourism and could not have asked for a better guide in Portugal. He was extremely knowledgable no matter what area of the country we visited including Obidos, Nazare and Fatima. Obidos is a quaint town and we spent some time visiting the walled city - including a tasting of ginjinha - the local, cherry liquor. Fatima was a must visit on my list and I appreciated the time he gave me at the Sanctuary and cite of the apparitions. Nazare is a colorful fishing village and home of the "big wave"! BTW - we had the most wonderful grilled grouper for lunch caught that morning by the restaurant owner's brother. We highly recommend this tour as well as Van GO, and especially Nuno!

We HIGHLY recommend the Fatima tour including a visit to the Batalha Monastery. It is indescribable so you must see it to understand why words can’t define this very special place. Nuno was a fountain of information and always reminded us to take our time to enjoy this religious experience that was important to us. He arranged a lovely location for lunch afterwards and continued to share his wealth of knowledge about the unique history of Nazare and Obidos as he guided us through the town. He was most gracious as we sampled (more so fumbled with) our first taste of Ginjinha . Nuno made this tour a most memorable experience for us … no one could have done it better!

Nuno welcomed our family with open arms. He handled our three children and their various needs perfectly. The restaurant he recommended was one of the best of our 14 day trip through Spain and Portugal. Our son asked if Nuno could fly home with us- he loved him that much. Such a fun experience, seeing the sights was once in a lifetime!

Today we really enjoyed this tour with Nuno. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He gladly answered all our questions. He looked after his flock very well. He gave us choices such as whether we wanted early or late lunch. We chose later lunch so we could see Batalha right after Fatima. All sites were amazing. Lunch was delicious in Nazare. We spent a wonderful day on a private tour with our guide Nuno touring the caves Mira dAire and seeing sites of Fátima, Nazaré and Obidos. The views were magnificent as was our tour experience. Our guide was highly knowledgeable about Portugal and its history, and the significance of the many sites we visited, presenting his depth of knowledge in an interesting and informative way. He arranged for lunch at a marvelous local restaurant offering the opportunity to dine on local delights. VanGo Tourism, the tour operator, communicated with us in advance to confirm details and contact info. We contacted the office in advanced, and they were helpful in our finalizing details for our visit. A good tour experience requires more than someone driving from point to point. Our guide's professionalism was apparent from the moment he picked us up, dressed is a sport coat. For these reasons he and VanGO Tourism have our highest recommendation.

The experience was better than we expected. Not only did we visit these amazing places and enjoy and explore Fátima but we were able to go at our own pace thanks to our amazing guide Susana. A wonderful all-day trip outside Lisbon. Fatima was a most moving site as was the beautiful Batalha Monastery. The carved stonework here can only be equalled by the Monastery of St. Jeronimos in Lisbon. Batalha is also being restored to its brilliant past. The sea and cliffs at Nazare were awe inspiring and Joao took us to where the giant waves occur and explained how they are formed. Obidos was like walking into a medieval village because that's what it is. Charming! Can't say enough good thing about Joao and this Viator tour. Highly recommended.

Our guide Soo was great and we had an enjoyable day. We stopped for a leisurely lunch in Nazare at a restaurant recommended by our guide and had wonderful seafood entrees.

There is only a word to describe their services, is excellence. They are really professionals, itineraries work in the hour, vehicles are spotless, are pending of the details. And the most important is the quality and knowledge of their guides. We were two couples traveling across Portugal for 5 days, they prepare a customized itinerary so visited several cities. Van Go Tours is who you need to book with for all your tours in Portugal. We had an amazing day with Susana to Fatima, Obidos, and Nazare. We were picked up at our Airbnb and on our way to the most amazing tour I have ever done. The knowledge of history she had was mind-blowing. She made sure we saw everything we could and recommended a great place for lunch. We got all the great parking spots because of her fond connections with people, which I'm sure not all tour companies get. The best tour I have booked in our lives. We went to all the places shown but the highlight was our guide Susanna. This was our best family-day in Portugal...all thanks to our guide, Susana. Our day started with 8am pick-up at our hote. Susana was both guide and driver of a newer Mercedes van. Her historic knowledge, of Portugal and each site, was excellent. Only one disappointment-totally outside of Susana's control...there were no waves at Nazare. The mideaval town of Obidos was the an unexpected "treat" and our last stop of the day's tour.

I would definitely recommend this tour. Firstly Suzanna my tour guide was amazing! I was traveling solo and felt extremely safe with her. She’s kind, caring, extremely educated and so well informed on her country and these sights. I also felt very safe in her hands (their vehicles and her driving skills) were superbe! We were so very happy with our private tour with Van Go Tourism. We were picked up promptly at 8:00am in front of our AirB&B by a wonderful, friendly tour guide Ms. Susana Gracio. The private Mercedes van was spotless and so comfortable. Susana, was so welcoming and so gracious when she picked us up. Susana, is unbelievably knowledgeable about the places we visited. She is very educated about the history of Portugal. She was a delight as well. We visited Fatima, Batalha, Navarre and Obidos. What a wonderful day! Joao, our tour guide was the absolute best. We did the private tour to Fatima, Nazare , Batalha and Obidos. Since we had already been to Batalha we were able to go to the monastery of Alcobaca instead. Joao was a wealth of information. I highly recommend this company. They were on time, attentive and Joao was so interesting.

Susanna was our guide. She was wonderful. Visiting Fatima was a mini pilgrimage for me and she was very flexible with accommodating me with some of the things I wanted to see. The other destinations were so wonderful too. Susanna is very knowledgeable about Portuguese history and she is a delight to be with. Highly recommended.

Our tour with Joao was amazing! He customized our tour according to our interests, making sure we got to everything but also allocated more time to places we were more interested in. His lunch recommendation was also excellent, the best seafood I have had in my life. It was a long day of driving, so luckily the van was comfortable enough that we had a small nap between destinations. As visitors to Portugal, we were very fortunate to have a guide Joao that was so knowledgeable about both Portuguese history and more current events. He was very professional and polite and took very good care of us. We arrived home (hotel pickup and dropoff included) tired but very happy from seeing 4 very interesting and different destinations. We look forward to visiting Portugal again soon and booking through Van Go tourism again!

An early start for a full day - and Susana, as always, was right there for us. The town of Obidos - with its huge outer walls and inner shops - added an historical touch for me - while the rest of the group went to the shops. We didn't know about the background of Nazare and the waves - but Susana guided well and we came to greater understanding of the area. We continued the journey to Fatima - a highlight for me - and Susana provided all the necessary details concerning the site. Susana picked us up at 8:00. Our first stop was Obidos, a quaint medieval town. We had a walking tour when Susana explained the history and then we had time to shop. Such cute shops! Then off to Nazaré . We were so excited to see the big waves, but little did we know, the big waves are during the winter months! It was still fun to be there. We had lunch near the beach at food trucks. Good food and a delicious strawberry mojito! We visited the Chapel of Our Lady of Nazaré which was lovely. Then off to Batalha for a visit of the beautiful monastery. Last, but not least, Fatima. As we requested, Susana who is so accommodating and flexible, drove by the homes of the children of Fatima and took us to a large store with religious items and other Portuguese items. Next was the Sanctuary of Fatima and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Susana guided us through both and then took us to our hotel. We chose to go to the Candelight Procession in the evening on our own so we said Good Night to Susana who stayed in Fatima so that on the next day, we could continue our tour with her to Coimbre and then

Wow what a day , Susana picked us up bright and early to start out on this exciting adventure. We started the day walking thru the walled city of Obidos then it was off to Nazare to see the famous beaches where unfortunately the waves were not cooperating (not Susana's fault ). We ended our day in Fatima at the candlelight procession. Susana guided us thru a long day with the history of all the places we visited, she really knows her stuff !!! We could not have asked for a better person to introduce us to all the beauty of Portugal, Susana is so nice, considerate and accommodating , you can tell she loves her country and has immersed herself in its history . I highly recommend VanGo tourism and if you are lucky enough to spend time with Susana you will feel like you made a new friend.

My wife and I traveled to Portugal for the first time. Our purpose was to look at Portugal for retirement. One big interest of mine was to see the huge waves of Nazare. Our guide Susana was outstanding!! She tailored our day to our wishes. She was also extremely knowledgeable ( extremely is not an extreme enough word here,...lol). This was a wonderful tour with our guide Susanna! She is so knowledgeable and immediately makes you feel like a member of her family! This tour, and especially the visit to the walled village of Obidos, was a highlight of my trip to Portugal. So much rich history!! Be sure to try the Ginja with the cherry! The traveling accommodations were very comfortable. Susanna picked us up at our hotel in the morning and dropped us off at the end of the day - doesn’t get any easier than that! Walking the walls of Obidos and then, eating pastries and drinking the local, historic cherry liquor was so fun! Visiting all three very different monasteries was a busy but enjoyable day. The final monastery, Christ the King in Tomar, was the absolute highlight for me. Susana our guide was amazingly knowledgeable and excited about all her country has to offer. A wonderful day! Fatima was serene spiritual place. We arrived early so it was quiet and peaceful. Susanna was an amazing guide she let us take us take our time where needed. we were never hurried. I felt like I have known her forever even though we just met. She made sure we saw every thing and more. Susanna is entusiastic and her knowlege was amazing and always making sure we were comfortable and happy. I would recommend her to my closest friends and that says alot.

Wow just wow! From the beginning we didn't know what to expect but got an email prior to tour with important numbers in case we needed anything. Loved that i was able to confirm even before we left USA. It was our 1st time in Portugal and I was able to whatsapp the guide night before to validate and ask a few questions. Susana our guide treated us like family that came for a visit. She made sure she knew all the places that were important to us and showed us more that we might enjoy. We would have never been able to do all the sites on our own. Everything went smoothly and she always thought of everything before we would think to ask. Her knowledge of history and explanation is wonderful and she has such a caring and upbeat personality! Really enjoyed the day so much we asked if she was available for a different day tour. So thankful she was. Amazing time and sites. We had transport in a comfortable Mercedes and she was very accomodating. This tour deserves 1000000 🌟!
