Fantastic day with our guide Miguel! He was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Nice small group tour! We met a lovely couple from New York on the tour and the 4 of us had a great day!
Pedro the driver, guide and interpreter was great. Though only 22 he was a safe driver and guide. Just wish we had more time. It was great that we were a small group.
Fabulous day. The weather was perfect and the stops were really nice. Nazarene was beautiful with Riviera like shoreline. Our Tour Guide Miguel was excellent and he made the day so much fun even though we got stuck in Lisbon traffic! His knowledge of our stops was exceptional and we had a great time!!
If you are taking this trip to see Fatima, This is not the tour for you. We blew through Fatima in about an hour.. we were suppose to be there a full 1.5 hours and we were not. The site is so huge I would say you need 3 hour minimum. The other towns we stopped at were also quick stops with the exception of one. Our tour driver really Did not know the sites we visited and some points she made about Fatima were wrong. A good guide can really make your tour- she added very little. Lastly- her driving was insane. I mean I am serious, I like a good bit of speeding here and there but she was flying. Some areas were very curvy and she did not slow down. Everyone in our group made comments. She is not a safe driver and she would make comments about the other drivers. I felt unsafe especially on the drive back to Lisbon: I would be very careful going on a tour with her.
Driver started by advising that the speed limit was 120kph but she would do 140kph as she was a good driver, although it was not her normal van. Stop at the gift store pointless as we had not yet seen Fatima and had no idea what we were looking at. Driver dropped us at the gate and didn't come in. 50 minutes or so not knowing what to do. The driver then drove the van into the kerb, deflating the tyre. Finally we stopped and waited just under 2 hours to fix the tyre and resume the tour. At no time did she check with the group if we were happy to continue or wanted to amend or reduce time at the stops. Did not join the group on any of the stops or advise where facilities may be, or what we must see. Finally got to Nazare for lunch at 3pm. The trip continued into the evening to Obidos, then she drove back to Lisbon at break neck speed, sometimes hitting 150kph and at one time we left the road and went on the run off. Constantly waving her hands around, answering the phone and complaining about other motorists throughout the trip. Felt that the comfort and safety of the group was not a priority. The destinations are worth seeing but nearly 11 hours was a very long day.
The tour guide did a good job. We had a situation with the van tire needing to be replaced and it took over 2 hours. Hopefully there will be some compensation of a discount.
This tour with Miguel was great! All on time, comfortable with enough time to check all spots, excellent lunch place in Nazare, and lots of laughs. Thanks Miguel for an amazing day!
The guide was excellent . We spent a good amount of time in each place and he was very engaging and funny.
Our guide Miguel was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and funny. He added local flavor at every turn. Wish we had factored in more time. Fatima is a lot and takes time. The stained glass in Batalha is awsome. We opted to go to the lighthouse in Nazare which was not included (it absolutely should be!) and it was simply amazing, beautiful and inspiring. Do it if you can and watch the movie “The 100 Foot Wave”. Obidos was charming. A lovely day seeing the countryside!
Beautiful stops. Guide very knowledgeable. Only criticism is the vehicle was very small-2 crowded for the 8 of us.
Very good overview of Fatima, Batalha, Cascais and Obidos. The only hic was the consistent lateness of two people on the tour which somewhat soured the experience a little bit. If I had one recommendation to make: a bit less time in Fatima, and a bit more time in Obidos.
We enjoyed the small group tour compared to a large bus tour . Our guide Miguel was very knowledgeable and personable. We felt that we had enough time in each town and overall had a great day !
Excellent tour, knowledgeable and very friendly Driver/to GUY
We had Duarte, who was an excellent guide and driver. We enjoyed all our stops as well as his recommendation for lunch.
Juan was the great Guide, very knowledgeable.. Enjoyed the tour and people I met.
Overall, our group of five really enjoyed the trip. It was a small group of eight people, which made the experience comfortable and relaxed. We would have enjoyed a little more time in Óbidos and Nazaré and a little less time in Fátima, but that’s largely a matter of personal preference. The guide was friendly and engaging, and we especially enjoyed the conversations when they were sharing their personality and experiences. Some of the tour information felt a bit more structured, but they were very knowledgeable about the places we visited. The van was comfortable, the driving was safe, and the guide was happy to answer questions throughout the day. They were also honest when they weren’t sure about something, which we appreciated. The pickup and drop-off locations were always convenient. Don't be the person what has to sit in the front middle. Overall, we felt the tour was a good value for the price. It’s especially well suited to travelers who are interested in the religious and historical aspects of the region.
It was in English and Portuguese being spoken the whole time! The sights we saw were wonderful, the lunch option could have been nicer if one of the other areas we were taken to had been selected
João was a great tour guide he was knowledgeable and charismatic. He made the experience much more engaging and enjoyable thank you so much.
We were a little concerned about 4 stops but we had just enough time in each stop. Our guide Miguel was excellent. He gave us a lot of history on the tour and had great enthusiasm. We would definitely recommend.
Highly recommended this tour. We really enjoyed this tour and all of the stops. Pedro was our guide and he was great.
Great tour and João was very friendly and professional.
A great experience, our driver was on time, we had enough time in each places and came back on time.
The places we visited were very beautiful. However I suggest to remove the first stop at the shop because at Fatima we have more options. Also adding 30 minutes to the stop at Nasare is a must in order to visite the light house. Overall the guide is very knowledgeable. I do recommande the tour.
Incredible experience to be in Fatima on a Sunday, while mass is being said! Our tour guide Gincarlo was terrific! Incredibly patient and accommodating! He made sure we were comfortable and made an excellent suggestion for lunch - the food food was fresh and tasty. Being in small group, we felt like friends and was very relaxed
We had an excellent day with João! He was an absolutely amazing guide! Gave lots of historical information which I really enjoyed. The only thing I would suggest is a little longer in Óbidos! An hour and a half isn't enough! Highest praises to João!
Great tour and tour guide. Pedro was a great driver and knowledgeable! Loved nazare and Obidos. Clean car.
It was a wonderful experience and Pedro was a fantastic guide very knowledgeable and allowed us time to see the sites. My only issue was lunch it took an awful lot of time to get served you took time away from seeing the beach .
Good tour , Fatima u had to explore on your own, but it was simple , Óbidos was great experience. And we shopped .
Joni was very knowledgeable and put some good humor to the rides in the van. The other sites were great stops, but the time in Fatima was special.
Excellent guide very knowledgeable. He made the tour so much more pleasant. I would recommend him without hesitation.
Joao (Johnny) was excellent! Very knowledgeable, fun and safe -- highly recommend -- bring raincoat -- BTW big waves are not all-year :)
Joao was a great guide today. He knew his history and was very willing to answer questions. We had another tour awesome time with him.
I had a great trip today and Miguel did a very good job! He shows us a lot of different things (especially the fresh apple from the farm 🤣 and shared a lot of information. More importantly, his attitude shows that he really enjoys his work and tries to make us enjoy every second!! To have him as a tour guide, it’s really a present . Thank you so much.
Great day! Excellent experience in every way!
A well informed chaperone who is very knowledgeable. Great experience ✅ Fatima was great, the restaurant was also amazing and the views were spectacular.
This tour with Miguel was amazing! He spent the whole day with us and brought us to exactly what we wanted to see plus more!
Pedro was a great tour guide. We learned a lot regarding Portugal and Lisbon as well as the sites. His music choice for the van was great too. I gave the tour 4 stars because the van was cramped, needs new brakes and AC vents in the back.
We chose this small group tour for a couple of reasons, the primary ones being that it was a small group that offered an opportunity to get to know other travelers while experiencing the rich cultural elements of the region. Once the 8 of us were loaded into the van, our guide, Miguel, began the drive while filling us in on the important elements of Portugal's economy - wine, olive oil and cork. While this may seem irrelevant to the tour, it was a great ice breaker to get us all involved in talking about each and asking questions. Our first stop was Fatima to walk the grounds of the Sanctuary of Fatima. Take time to go into the Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima and marvel at the altar and the stained-glass windows. At the opposite end of the grounds is the much more modern Basilica da Santissima Trindade, also worth a visit. The next stop was Batalha, and the Monastery, built in the 14th and 15th century to commemorate the Battle of Aljubarrota. The architecture of the Monastery reflects the era in which it was built as well as the influential architects. The stained-glass windows are some of the oldest in Portugal. Traveling on, we went to the seaside town of Nazare, where our guide drove us to a spot above the town where we could get a good look at the beach below. There are a number of small shops selling tourist-oriented items nearby. The next stop was in the town for lunch. There are a variety of places to eat on the main street, though Miguel recommended Taberna do Pouca Roupa, a seafood restaurant off the main street. The fish was fresh and prepared well. The final stop was Obidos, where we stepped into the oldest bar in Obidos, where one hundred-year-old bottles of wine sat on shelves. Next it was a walk to the pedestrian street and a walk along the castle wall. From there one gets an amazing view of the old city. We found the folks at One Day Tours take special pride in catering to the needs of their clientele. Our driver/guide was interesting, engaging and rather humorous, which is good in making everyone feel comfortable.
Good treatment from the guide (João). Very on time at pick up and didn't hesitate to translate to both, english and spanish language simultaniously. This is not so easy to find among regular tour guides. He gave very good tips and replied to all of our weird tourist questions. He kept a good balance between telling interesting facts and letting us to have free time at each destination.
It was fun! Wanted to have more time in each place but Miguel was a great guide.
It was a great day. Lots of information. Well timed at the venue
First off, Pedro was the best tour guide ever. Second, the tour itself was spectacular, we couldn’t pick a favorite, everything about the day was amazing. From the views to the amazing food. It was a memorable day. Would highly recommend the tour and if you are lucky enough to get Pedro, you will be guaranteed a great experience.
Very organized and informative tour by our friendly and funny Joao.
We had an amazing experience and couldn’t have asked for a better guide than João. He was friendly, funny, and helpfull. His knowledge of the historical attractions we visited was impressive, and he shared stories and facts that made the tour both enjoyable and educational. We highly recommend this tour if you have the chance.
We booked this tour, because the itinerary has a 3 hour stop in Fatima, and we wanted to ensure that we would have plenty of time to visit the sanctuary as well as pray and meditate. The other, cheaper tours, have stops at Fatima for 1 to 1 ½ hours. On arrival at Fatima, we were told that we would be departing in just over 1 hours time. This is not what was (and still is) advertised for this tour. However, on the positive side, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly with a sense of humour. This resulted in the remainder of the tour was as advertised, although I do believe that the stop at Obidos was too long.
Our tour guide Manuel, was fantastic! We had a wonderful day touring so many great places. We highly recommend this tour.
Much like the Ginja, the tour started off on a sour note. João took the time to explain the catastrophes in Lisbon so we could better understand where the country is coming from. That helped set the stage for all the informative facts about Lisbon and Portugal and their struggles. We appreciated all the information and they way we were his good people. We did fell that we could have spent more time in some areas than others, we regret not having more time in Obidos which is such a quaint and lovely little medieval village. Definitely on the list for when we come back to Portugal. I understand it might be best for our lunch time, but we and others felt we could have spent less time at the beach in Nazare, especially if that meant more time in Obidos. The rest felt about right. João presented us with the history of the place, then let us explore with concise directions about how long to stay and where (and when) to meet. It all worked out perfectly. João, I hope one day you get that statue.
Our driver/guide, Miguel was awesome. His enthusiasm in his presentations plus his knowledge were terrific. He made everyone's day totally enjoyable and informative. I'd recommend Miguel to anyone wanting to learn about Portugal.
João was an excellent guide and driver. He was personable, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. He made the trip very enjoyable.
