Nice building. Beautiful guitar playing. Comfortable seating. Definitely designed for the tourist and not locals, which is fine for a first time experience with this genre of music. Can’t say we loved the music, but all the guide books list it as a must do.
Ideal introduction to Fado. Very nicely done by the performers…theatre was clean and seating fine. The “proper” way for Fado is in a “bluesy” bar atmosphere, but for a 50-minute pre-dinner show, this was perfect for the unitiated.
A very complete 50-minute show right in the heart of Lisbon. The musicians and Fado singers have exceptional talent and convey so much emotion in a comfortable, modern setting. Ideal for those who want to experience Fado in a quick, dynamic, and very affordable way. Book with Tripadvisor...
The singers and musicians were wonderful and the music both stirring and enchanting! The audience was enthusiastic - overall it was ten out of then!
There were only a few words in English but it was a beautiful experience to be fully immersed in the culture and language. I was happy to spend 50 minutes to sit and listen! Venue was easy to find and had plenty of seats.
I think I expected a bit more time the team was very talented and the short performance was enjoyable
Delightful show, beautiful music and a lovely piece of the culture of Portugal. Highly recommend to experience!
Beautiful music. Especially male voice Portuguese guitars amazing staff attentive phone pictures allowed but is distracting late arrivals also distracting
Fado is well known for me, for us in general, beginning with Amalia Rodriguez and Maritza. My granddaughters understand that is a subtle style of music and enjoy it very much. The four artists are very good in our opinion.
We didn't know what to expect, but selected this production because it was only about an hour. We brought 3 kids ages 17, 13 and 11. It was a nice introduction to Fado music and was very kid friendly.
It was such a lovely show in a beautiful air conditioned theater. I felt immersed in soulful singing and music by talented singers and music players. A very special show, I would definitely recommend. Perfect for solo travelers or groups. A nice introduction to Portuguese culture.
The performances done throughout the program were done professionally both by the musicians and singers. I would highly recommend this activity to your itinerary while in Lisbon.
Very talented musicians. Enjoyable show and enjoyed very much! Close to my hotel and Central Lisbon.
Well done show. Very entertaining
Wonderful show. The musicians were great and the show was very entertaining. I would recommend this show to anyone.
The Fado in Chiado 50-minute show takes place in a small concert hall, and there is no food or drink included. There are two guitarists and two singers (one male and one female). The performance features a nice video backdrop showing views of Lisbon. The guitarists use special 12-string guitars with round bodies. Both guitarists are virtuosos, and the singers are very good. They also try to encourage audience participation. The songs are not only sad, although it may feel somewhat touristy. The only thing I would change is adding English translations of the song lyrics to the background video.
An excellent show in a lovely theatre with great singers and musicians. Having previously seen fado in restaurants with the sound of knives and forks in the background this was far better as we could really focus on the music.
Great performance with talented entertainers. The Portuguese guitar player is a must see-perfect for families.
Hardly no English. Had no idea what story was being told or any idea or story plot behind the beautiful voices. Needs more English explanations or words being sung.
Had never attended a Fado and really enjoyed it despite not understanding any of the lyrics. It was just a good vibe.
What a lovely way to spend 1 hour, wonderful music provided by two guitarists with two excellent singers (Female and Male) and a bit of audience participation- very enjoyable
It was geared towards tourists, but it was a lovely experience that provides a great intro to fado music. The performers did a great job and the participatory aspect was nice. This was a great experience if you want to get a taste of fado but not spend several hours or money on an overpriced dinner. Highly recommended!
Show was good, all of us in the small party enjoyed it as an introduction to traditional Fado performances. Pricing was appropriate and the duration was about right.
The Fado show was beautiful, even though it lasted less than an hour. The combination of the Fado singer and the guitar created a truly lovely and emotional duet, and the accompanying voices were absolutely wonderful as well. We also really appreciated how the performers engaged with the audience and encouraged everyone to sing along, which made the experience feel warm and interactive. A lovely experience in Lisbon.
Very enjoyable. Theatre is comfortable and easily accessible. Show was just under an hour and included some fun audience participation.
My husband and I had booked a fado show and traditional dinner at a small restaurant in Alfama, Portugal. Our hotel concierge recommended that we cancel that and go to the Fado in Chiado show instead and then grab dinner on our own at a fancier restaurant. In hindsight, we wished we had not canceled our original plans. Speaking to other tourists we met during our week in Portugal, many commented on the strong emotional feel of sitting in a small restaurant listening to a female fado singer. They described it as intimate, memorable, and moving. The Fado in Chiado show that we saw was about an hour long in an auditorium. There were probably a few hundred seats. While the production had excellent singers, musicians, accompanying videos and other technical features, my husband and I commented afterwards that it didn’t feel intimate. It felt like we went to a concert. It also didn’t help the mood that a high school group pf about 75 sat in the front of the auditorium and the students were not really focused. Many were on their phones watching videos so we were distracted by that as well. Overall, it was nice to hear fado music and learn about the origins of these sad songs, but we wished we had experienced in a smaller setting.
Entertaining experience when in Lisbon .. the guitarists were excellent .. singers accomplished. Being in Portuguese it was a little hard to follow
Excellent show. Beautiful voices. Courteous staff. Even though we couldn’t understand the words of the songs, we could feel their soul. Great experience!!
We had a lovely time at this show! The performance was great and the food was good, but what really stood out was the service: the servers, John and Adrian (I think), were so personable and friendly, we felt very welcomed from the moment we stepped out of the rain into the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this as an experience in Lisbon.
We really enjoyed this “bare bones” Fado performance. Beautiful vocals and accompanied music all in about an hour. Price very reasonable and venue comfortable and appropriate. If you want an introduction to Fado without dinner or spending several hours, this is your show. Lasted about an hour.
First class, 5-star show. Singers and guitarists were amazing. Great show. Highly recommend. We loved it.
Nice show in a lovely venue. Would highly recommend. Show lasts 1 hour and is a great activity to get to know Portuguese culture.
Portuguese image and the culture was so good
Emotional and endearing, there's an intimacy to the performance that immerses you from the start. Left with a smile on my face.
Traditional live Portuguese music. Elegant design, delicious food and wonderful customer service. Visited a few times.
A wonderful experience - it was something I will remember for a long time. All of the performers were incredible. I loved how they invited you to join in. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
A great evening filled with music and culture! Two singers, one male and one female team with classical guitarist and Portuguese guitarist entertain in an on-stage performance with a club-like setting for about an hour. There is a visual experience with video of Lisbon as well. The performances are passionate, and the singers invite the audience to sing along at times. You will enjoy this!
Fado in Chiado was an unexpected highlight of our trip to Lisbon! We knew nothing about this Portuguese tradition and fell in love with the music and stories. The musicians and singers were amazing - just so talented! We are very glad we decided to do this!!!
Fado music was very nice. We enjoyed it. Everyone in the theater was having a great time. The musicians and singers were excellent.
The guitar players were absolutely mindblowingly fantastic. The singers had beautiful voices. This is not a traditional Fado in a tavern, this is in an auditorium. Personally I felt that the singers could have been dressed better, their clothes were creased and the nothing at all special considering this was a show in a theatre. The website said we would be given a class of wine but we wernt. Maybe that was due to the time of year. Still a nice experience to hear lovely voices and experience a Fado whilst in Lisbon and to hear fantastic guitar music. Ticket prices was €21. There is merchandise available at the end of the show too. The show lasts approximately 50 mins and there are toilets in the auditorium. Its on the 2nd floor of the venue, the escalators wernt working but the lifts were.
The performance was beautiful, but if you are looking for a more intimate setting this is not it. It was in an auditorium of sorts and didn't give the feel we were going for. My friend and I were hoping to have a glass of wine in a smaller venue and this was not it. The staff was very nice, as was the price of the ticket, and the ease to get in. If you are looking to hear beautiful voices and the venue atmosphere isn't high on your list then this will suit you.
The program was wonderful and the artists delivered a truly heartfelt show. The highlight came at the end, when the singers performed the last Fado without microphones — pure voices blending beautifully with the live guitars. It felt natural and authentic, and we could finally appreciate the full potential of the singers. I would love to see the entire show performed this way!
Such an amazing experience, a wholesome and interactive performance, highly recommend to spend an evening here.
Beautiful music with two amazing singers, in a nice small venue. I wish it had been a little longer since I was enjoying it so much.
It was great performance. The spot is a little hard to find as the sign is tiny. Great way to hear fado.
Fado is a big part of Portuguese culture so it is important to experience it. While it was not my type of music I understand the reason to participate. I wouldn’t do it again but am not sorry I did it.
Very talented singers and musicians. I think it would be better appreciated in a small intimate venue.
I’m Portuguese and I loved the show. It brought me back to my roots. It was the perfect amount of time.
Wonderful show! Great theatre and venue! Performers engaged with the audience. Which was fun. Loved the background sets.
