José was an excellent, highly informative and entertaining guide who paced the trip well. This tour is well worth doing.

I joined the free walking tour with Bruno, and really enjoyed it. He knows the history and is a great storyteller and kept everyone engaged. Would highly recommend!
We once again enjoyed another Sandemans walking tour!!! Nuno was an awesome guide. He was informative, funny, energetic and incredibly passionate about Lisbon. He not only showed us some amazing sites but the history, information he shared with us was given with such enthusiasm. He also shared information for other sites to see and gave us great restaurant recommendations. Thanks for a great tour!!! 🇨🇦
Bruno was our guide and he was incredible: easygoing, funny and full of interesting/historical information. We take a SANDEMANs tour in every city and he was one of my favorite tour guides ever. Highly recommend.
Bruno was an amazing guide. The tour was very historically informative and interesting. Two hours is long enough given the heat!
We loved our tour with Natalia! She was so knowledgeable and literally learned and remembered everyone’s’ names in our group!
A very entertaining and informative experience with Jaime Ferreira, offering a great introduction to Lisbon’s basic history and its neighborhoods. He made the city’s past feel vivid and engaging throughout. Highly recommended!
We had the best time on our walking tour with our wonderful guide, Antonio. He was absolutely charming, funny and so knowledgeable - the whole experience was brilliant and we really felt we had learnt so much about Lisbon. Thoroughly recommended!
Our free walking tour of Lisbon was with Jimmy (Jamie) on Thursday, November 20. It was fantastic. Jimmy is steeped in history, culture, art, religion--in Lisbon, Portugal and beyond--and he generously shared that with us during the 2+ hours. He also gladly shared tips on restaurants, sites, neighborhoods etc. He was passionate and engaging. We highly recommend.
Lovely walking tour of Lisbon with Jimmy. Our family really enjoyed his calm and knowledgeable presence. Highly recommended especially on your first day in the city. It gives you a really good overview of the city especially parts of the city we might not have visited. We learned more from Jimmy than any of the other sites we visited on our trip. Keep up the good work.
We did the Alfama walking tour in Lisbon, and our guide Antonio was amazing! Very knowledgeable, and gave us a local perspective. He also gave his contact information after the tour to give additional recommendations for restaurants and activities. Would definitely recommend!
I joined the tour with Jimmy today. To be fair, he’s very knowledgeable about Lisbon’s history and culture, and his English is excellent. But the actual route felt underwhelming and didn’t really capture the highlights of the city. Because the group was so large, his voice kept fading in and out as he spoke left and right, which made it hard to follow. Almost like listening to a radio cutting in and out. I also wish he had given more context at each stop, like which neighborhood we were in, what makes it special, and what else there is to see nearby. The information he shared felt scattered rather than structured, and some major Lisbon highlights were left out. Of course, you can always visit these spots on your own. But with a professional guide and an established tour organization, I expected more depth and engagement. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like the two and a half hours were not well spent. I would have preferred to explore the city at my own pace and cover more ground. Overall, after joining many tours in different cities, I’d rate this one as average at best. If you haven’t planned anything at all, it might work as a starting point. But if you’ve done even a little research, you can probably skip it and discover Lisbon on your own.
An excellent tour from Jimmy! Would highly recommended taking this tour, it was very entertaining but also very informative .
We had a very interesting, funny and authentic tour with our lovely guide Jimmy! 100% recommendation! Don't miss it!!!
The guide, Antonio, made it a really great experience. Well-paced and well-planned tour! We visited many iconic spots throughout the city. Antonio was super friendly, helpful, and gave us both historical and contemporary insights into Lisbon and Portugal. We were grateful for the advice he shared about tourist traps to avoid, and the generous tips regarding the best spots to visit!
I did two tours in one day - the city essentials one in the morning and the Alfama one in the afternoon. Both were two of the best tours I’ve been on and Bruno was a brilliant guide - warm, inviting and very knowledgable. The tours kept to their allocated times and were very interesting. Particularly loved the Alfama tour and would reccomend to anyone. As a solo traveller it was also a great way to meet others and I ended up going for lunch and then out at night with people I met on the tour.
Antonio was professional and informative. We covered so many necessary sites and also a few off the cultural path. Well worth it! Additionally, my husband and I only had one full day and Antonio provided us with a very simple itinerary to cover 3 spectacular towns outside of Lisboa.
You will be walking with a group at a leisurely pace and getting an amazing amount of information about the city’s history. the guide was Jaime and was very much on top of his game. He has an impressive storehouse of information that gives us a complete picture of what Portugal and Lisbon have been over the years and all of the influences that changed it for centuries.
Jimmy was amazing. I left feeling inspired and with a better understanding of Lisbon’s history. He was extremely knowledgeable, and it was clear he had a great understanding of the locale, having a plethora of tips and recommendations. I could not have been more happy with this tour.
I loved this tour so much! As a young woman solo travelling in a new city, it can be really nerve-wracking to sign up to activities with a bunch of strangers and I nearly backed out of going, but I am SO glad I didn't. Antonio was great, not least because he bigged up the little Portuguese skills I've managed to retain since uni! He made sure to talk to each person on the tour individually and made jokes throughout, which created a relaxed and informal vibe. He was knowledgable and engaging so the tour was really informative and never dull. I feel like I learnt a lot about many areas of Portuguese history, and the layout of the tour lent itself to covering the history almost chronologically, which was a really nice touch. Walking between the different points of interest took no time at all, but left enough chance to get chatting with others on the tour, and the pace was comfortable for everyone in our tour group. Antonio was also really keen to give as many recommendations and insights into what sights and places are and aren't worth visiting, which was really helpful. I'd been so anxious beforehand about being on my feet up and down Lisbon's hills (they are no joke!) for 2 hours, but I couldn't believe it when the tour ended and 2.5 hours had passed. I enjoyed it so much that the time just flew! Overall, it was a really great experience and I'd recommend it to anyone. I'll definitely be looking for Sandeman tours in other cities I plan on visiting!
Our tour guide, Jimmy, was the best. He stopped often, describing the things around us in detail. He was very nice, and was never bothered when someone asked him a question or wanted to share something. The pace of the tour was also nice, and he allowed us time to sit and rest while he was talking. I had him for two tours, one in the morning, and one after lunch. Overall, my experience with him was great, and he was the best. I would definitely recommend him, and I would also want him to be my tour guide again.
Jimmy our guide was fantastic! Lovely informative tour around the beautiful city of Lisbon! Highly recommend! Thank you!
I have to apologize for not submitting this review sooner. On our second day in Lisbon (Sat Feb 22) we took the highlights walking tour. Our guide was Jimmy and he was excellent. He knew the area / sites well. Great insights / stories. The time went by very quickly. We would recommend the tour and Jimmy as the guide.
Antonio was brilliant. Lots of stories and info. Really chatty and personable. He also has a lot of insider tips or things to do and not to do.
Despite the heavy rain, Bruno delivered an outstanding tour, handling the weather with ease and making sure the experience remained engaging and enjoyable. His deep knowledge, enthusiasm, and adaptability turned what could have been a washout into a memorable adventure. From expertly navigating the slick streets to keeping spirits high with fascinating stories, he proved to be a true professional who genuinely cares about his guests. I had been looking forward to taking an additional Alfama tour later that day, but unfortunately, the company canceled it due to the weather. That was a real disappointment, especially after seeing how well Bruno managed the earlier tour despite the rain. If you want a guide who can handle anything—rain or shine—Bruno is the one to book. Highly recommended!
A great, informative tour with Jimmy. Jimmy was entertaining, charming, and knowledgeable. 2 hours well spent! We'd definitely recommend it.
Jimmy was a great guide and loved his tour. History and fun and covered all good sites. Detailed and good knowledge of history.
We joined the walking tour with Antonio last week when we docked in Lisbon on a cruise ship. He was very welcoming, informative and knowledgeable on all things Lisbon. He was very generous with his time and gave us great tips for after the walking tour including a google map with points of interest and contact details if we had any questions. Highly recommend tour, many thanks to Antonio for a fabulous tour.
Absolutely riveting tour hosted by Jimmy who shared with us with an amazing balance of detailed facts and also nostalgic reminiscings of Lisbon's history. He finished the tour with a poem which was a beautiful and it was lovely to learn so much and start 2025 with a deeper insight into lisbon's history
Having only arrived into Lisbon late the night before we weren't sure if we would be able to make the 11 am Free Lisbon Walking Tour so I hadn't made a booking. When we arrived at the meeting place at 1045 I approached the guide (Cecelia) only to be chastised for not making a booking, I did not appreciate her reaction! Putting that aside, Cecelia gave an interesting guided tour around the city centre for over three hours, we had one small break of fifteen minutes or so. Walking tours are a great way to discover a new destination.
Antonio was an excellent guide. He gave us an excellent overview of the history of Lisbon and did it in a comprehensible, amusing way. He took us to multiple sites and provided both context and understanding. Loved his personal stories, too!
Great experience and tour. We went with Antonio in Lisbon today and it was a wonderful tour. Antonio knows so much history and provided so many helpful tips, it was great! Thanks a lot Antonio!! 6 stars!
Jamie was great Very knowledgeable Wish we had more time to soend I highly recommended checking out all the tours his company offers as each covers different highlights
We made two independent bookings with Sandemans Lisboa and both were confirmed. Upon arrival, the guide Antonio demanded that we pay €13 per person on a mandatory basis, citing “group policy”. That is, Sandemans confirms your free booking and then on the street tries to force an extra payment that never figured in the booking. The Enterprise acknowledged to us in writing that this “should not have happened this way”, but offered no real solution. The worst: Antonio’s insolent and inflexible treatment, which ruined the experience and stained the image of the Enterprise. ⚠️ Warning: if you book with friends or family separately, they may pressure you with a last minute windfall.
Lisbon is beautiful and what we liked most about this tour was having had the opportunity to tour it with Vlado. He’s funny, smart, interesting, knows a lot and doesn’t have a script he’s repeating: he shares his knowledge freshly and authentically and it was a pleasure to have been lucky enough to be our guide.
Our guide was Sandra and I liked that all the explanations had some humor and interaction with us. He gave us very good advice and helped us with how to follow our journey. A TOP Guide
We have made the tour in Spanish with Antonio, I combine all history, tourist places with a lot of culture, recommendations, care and fun! Highly recommended!!
Antonio the guide a genius. I never took a sandeman tour that disappointed me. Antonio speaks good English, knows a lot and is fun. It was great everything he told us in 3 hours. Thank you!!!!!
Antonio made a great three-hour tour explaining everything with great grace and at the same time telling the story in each place.
First they tried to cancel it when they reached the meeting point or suggested we join the tour in English, because it was just us. There is no indication that the implementation of the activity depends on the number of people who sign up. Finally we were 6 and made the tour. The slightly chaotic guide gave us brush strokes of things but without order or context. He mixed themes and we didn’t see all the ones indicated in the description of the activity. He recognized that he hadn’t done a tour for months....
Our guide was Natalia and she was a great professional who made the tour we will overcome and loaded with very interesting history that helped us to know the city of Lisbon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
