This was truly one of the best walking food and wine tours I have ever experienced! David, our tour guide, was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and so much fun. He took us to some fantastic local spots where we got to taste delicious, authentic Portuguese food, desserts and wine while experiencing the best of Lisbon’s culinary scene. What made this tour especially memorable was David’s extensive knowledge of Lisbon’s history. He shared fascinating stories and insights that added so much depth to the experience. He was patient, never rushed us, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a wonderful time while learning about the city and its culture. The time flew by because we were having such a great time! We learned so much, enjoyed incredible food, desserts and wine, and experienced Lisbon in a way we would not have been able to on our own. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon, and I would absolutely book another tour with David and his company. David was a great host and tour guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and tooks us to new places and we tried some new foods. We were never rushed. Would definitely take another tour with David. He even provided all the information he discussed with us so we could listen without having to take copious notes!

Dave met us exactly at our set time. He took us to the authentic and delicious restaurants of Lisbon. We really enjoyed visiting with him and he had a lot of interesting information about the food and history of Lisbon.

This Tour is Fantastic!! David is one of the best tour guides we have ever had anywhere in our travels. The small group policy of the 'Lisbon_a_love_affair' tour company allows participants to go to small, privately owned and operated establishments where the food is hand made from the best fresh ingredients, believe me, you can taste the difference. The beverage pairing at each stop along the way was perfect. David personalized every aspect of the tour, with in depth descriptions of what we were about to eat and drink, frequently tying both to their place in the history of Lisbon and Portugal. David also provided descriptions of the town, the buildings, and the people from the history of the area and how that history is relevant to current day. Almost all the food and beverage stops were off the main path of tourism, down small side streets, up narrow paths, and in hidden charming courtyards, known only to the local residents, and now, thanks to David, also known to us. The pace of the tour was very relaxed. We had time at each stop to sip the delicious beverages, enjoy the fresh flavors of the food, and relax with our new found friend in enjoyable conversations. David knows the shop keepers, frequently the business owners themselves, who readily welcomed us with warm smiles and friendly greetings. While a couple of times we arrived at a shop that was being crowded by a larger group, David was able to secure a table for us and get our food and beautifully paired beverage with almost no wait. Within the first few stops we realized that we were being guided by someone who was more than a tour guide but rather more like a very knowledgeable friend who has been a lifelong resident of the area. The pace of the walk was very casual, stopping frequently to show us points of interest and history as we strolled the beautiful side streets and easily missed walkways of the city, discovering and exploring areas free of the hustle and hassle of the big tour groups, with time to really see the local side. For example, we didn't just stop somewhere and get served codcakes and wine, we went up a secluded set of stairs to a small courtyard where we relaxed with a few local residents, enjoyed the beautiful day, and we're served fresh codcakes and wonderful Green Wine, which was itself a unique treat. Before arriving at this location we had stopped at a small market that sold seafood and of course Cod. It was here that David described the process of catching, preserving and preparing the Cod fish. Our heartfelt Thanks to David and his wife Dr. Crisci whom he credits with creating the Lisbon Culture Food and Wine Walking Tour, it is a special part of our Lisbon experience and a very compelling reason for us to return to this mecca of Delicious food, Wonderful Wine, Beer, Liquor, and a new appreciation of elegant Port. This is an amazing way to spend part of one day and get an intimate experience of information, food, and beverages.

David was a delightful companion, sharing a variety of fun and interesting (not to mention very tasty!) aspects of Lisbon. He had many stories to share as we munched and sipped our way around the city. Such a pleasant way to spend an afternoon with friends!

Our tour guide was David and I felt like we were meeting up with a friend giving us a tour of his hometown. I laughed so hard on this tour, maybe enhanced by how many wine/beer and liquor tastings. There was more history about the area than I expected. The amount of walking was perfect and it was surprising the different terrain we covered. I was in awe of the burnt out church which was close to the origin of the Fado music. The pairings of the food and libation was excellent.

Was a great intro to Lisbon! David was a Fabius leading us through Lisbon sharing historical as well as current cultural insights about the city. All while mingling in a great variety of tastings. Followed up with a fabulous list of recommendations to use I for the rest of the stay and future trips

This was a really private tour!!. It was just the two of us. David our tour guide was the best, he took all the time and took us to the best local places in Lisbon. It was a great experience that I would highly recommend. It was a 4 hr tour but we actually got 5.5 hrs.. wel worth it. Absolutely cannot say enough great things about this food tour! Our group of 4 did a tour with David and it was nothing short of excellent. The only regret we had was not doing this sooner in our trip! David was very communicative, extremely knowledgeable and just a joy to spend half a day with. He brought us to so many great and unique places (not the normal tourist traps) and spent extra time with us since we were all enjoying the day so much. He gave us excellent recommendations, one of which we took for dinner that same night. A food tour is a perfect way to see a new city and try some great local cuisine, and David's accompanying stories and history made for a fantastic and memorable day. I can’t recommend this tour and David enough! From the moment I booked, David went above and beyond to make sure my experience was perfect. I follow a specific diet, and a couple of days before the tour, he reached out to ask about my dietary requirements and sent me a thoughtful list of plant-based restaurants I could try during my stay in Lisbon. On the day of the tour, it ended up being just the two of us due to a last-minute cancellation. David’s knowledge of Lisbon’s history was immediately obvious, and I learned so much. He took me to hidden spots I never would have found on my own. When I mentioned I was planning to go to Sintra the next day by Uber, David encouraged me to consider the train instead. Not only did he explain why it would be a great option, but he even walked me to the train station and showed me step-by-step how to buy a ticket. Thanks to him, I felt confident taking the train the next day, something I would never have considered in a foreign country without his guidance. If you’re looking for a tour guide who is attentive and truly knows their stuff, David is the one. This tour exceeded all my expectations.
