We have done many street art tours all over the world but Erica was the best guide we have ever had. She is very smart and highly educated. She taught us so many things about street art that we did not know. It was the perfect introduction not only to the magnificant art but Lisbon and Portugal. Great tour and fantastic guide. Highly recommended

A very interesting tour of street art. Very informative and educational. The guide explained the various elements of street art, identified the pieces by well known artists, shared the history of the various neighborhoods we walked through. I have a new appreciation for the street art and artists of Lisbon. Highly recommended.
If you love art, this was the best experience to learn about history of street arts in Lisbon. Our guide was very informative! The 3 hours went by so fast. Make sure you carry a bottle of water.
We took a tour with Maria and she was fantastic. Very knowledgeable not only about the art but about the history of Lisbon and the relationship to the art on the walls. She was great. Highly recommend.
The Street Art Tour was really enjoyable. Our guide Erica was so knowledgable about the art and the artist. We wandered down alleyways we would never have found. There is so much art in the hidden neighborhoods of Lisbon! It was great to be exposed to artists known and unknown. We highly recommend this tour as long as you are up for the walking and the hills!
This tour ended up being the absolute highlight of our trip! We were astounded by how good this was. Erica was incredible and taught us so much about Lisbon in ways we didn't think we would learn on a Street Art Tour. I cannot stress how great this tour was, Erica was incredible and her passion for art and the city of Lisbon is both amazing and infectious. We certainly saw the city in a way we would never have without her and the tour actually brought my mum to tears. Erica is really very special and I would recommend anyone to take this tour and especially if you want a completely unique way to take in the city and learn about its history. It was amazing.
It went very well. I would have appreciated a few more breaks for bathroom and/or drinks, but the guide was very knowledgeable and overall a very enjoyable experience. I would have also appreciated a small note when I booked the tour if tipping is expected, as myself being an international tourist who was not sure the custom. Thank you!
I was one on one with my guide, Erika. It was amazing! She taught me a lot about the history of street art, as well as teaching me about the different street artists. It was my favorite tour in Lisbon!
This was a highly enjoyable and informative tour showcasing the vibrant street art/graffiti scene of central Lisbon. Our tour guide Erica has a background in art history. Accordingly, she was able to provide in an engaging manner the historical, political and cultural implications of the many artistic creations featured on the tour. One can learn a lot about the social fabric of a society based on the street art that permeates throughout the city. This tour proved to demonstrate the dynamic and socially creative urban environment of contemporary Lisbon.
Our tour guide, Erica, was simply fabulous! We walked all around the city (be prepared with good walking shoes) and she showed us so many different kinds of street art. She pointed out the different kinds of art, styles of each artist, what message they are trying to send, and Erica knows so much history of Portugal and how that is reflected in the street art all over Lisbon. It was truly the highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend and if you have Erica leading the way, you're in for a treet.
The street art in Lisbon is such an important part of the culture. Our guide did an excellent job of showing us key displays and explaining their significance.
Great experience, professional artist who grew up in Lisbon showed us around and told us about how street art is part of the Lisbon Community. If you want something a little different Id highly reccomend this tour!!! Duogo was the guide and he brought his adorable assistant Billy the dog with him!
Loved this tour! Our guide was so knowledgeable about every piece she showed us and it was evident how much she loved the city as well as it's art culture. Truly a unique and beautiful way to see and understand the history of Lisbon. I regret not booking this at the beginning of our stay as it would've been amazing to spot more artistic finds around the city.
Erica was our tour guide, and she was excellent. She knew exactly where to go, what to talk about (at each stop and between), and made excellent connections between local, regional culture and art history. Yes, folk can walk and see so much of these public art pieces for free. . .but the community and cultural connections? That's what we pay for: an expert who doesn't come off like a university lecturer. Glad to pay more, for this tour, when it empowers someone like Erica.
This tour was a great way to walk through the different areas of city, learn about its street art and the history behind it. Erica was a wonderful guide. She really enhanced my stay in Lisbon.
Our guide was knowledgeable and this street art was both pretty and interesting. Knowing about the history of the area, the background of the artists and some of the techniques the artists use makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
Erica was an excellent tour guide who showed us a wide range of street art while providing insightful explanations about the artists, the culture of the city, and the history of Portugal. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in discovering unique artwork and experiencing a fantastic way to explore Lisbon.
Erika did an awesome job with this walking tour. Not only did we get to see a variety of excellent street art in Lisbon, but we also learned a bit about Lisbon history, saw beautiful Lisbon sites, and explored a few different neighborhoods. Erika’s deep knowledge of the artists, enthusiasm for the subject and natural kindness made it feel like we were walking the streets of Lisbon with a friend who happened to be a street art history expert. Highly recommended!
Maria was a fantastic guide showing us over 40 examples of street art all over Lisbon. She seamlessly weaved together art, architecture, history, and so much more. Although you cover a lot of ground, Maria broke up the walking and climbing nicely. I highly recommend this for all visitors.
Delving into the colorful world of Lisbon’s street art was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. This small-group tour took us through hidden alleyways and narrow streets we never would have discovered on our own, revealing an incredible range of artwork throughout the city. What truly set this experience apart were our guides, Erica and Joanna. They were exceptionally passionate, knowledgeable, and engaging. Their ability to explain the meaning behind the art, the techniques used, and the deeper social and political context brought everything to life in a powerful way. The tour went far beyond just art—it was a walking history lesson. We explored themes such as political unrest, war, environmental issues, mental health, and even the musical heritage of the Santa Maria Maior neighborhood, where Fado music has its roots. Despite being a larger group of 18, the company did an outstanding job accommodating us while still maintaining an intimate and interactive feel. This three-hour tour was truly transformational—so much so that it was the only thing we talked about throughout dinner afterward. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Lisbon.
This was a great tour! The guide was super insightful, weaving together art, culture, history, and a little bit of politics into her descriptions of everything we were looking at, not just the street art. Wish we could have had her with us our whole trip. She even gave us a great lunch recommendations at the end of the tour.
This tour was the highlight of my brief stay in Lisbon. Highly recommend!!
A tour of the street art in Lisbon includes a lot of history, visits to culturally rich neighbourhoods, city views and architecture, art history references as well as current political social issues in the world. The tour guide did an excellent job of explaining how this artwork is not vandalism but rather a very important genre with conventions, important dialogues and depth of ideas.
A must do in Lisbon to appreciate the Street Art and Culture. Erika was a terrific guide discussing the culture in Lisbon and the artists.
We very much enjoyed being shown round the historic sites of Lisbon, by Diago (James). His English was very clear, and his knowledge very good. He was also very personable, friendly and natural. The weather was very wet, but the content of the tour was so interesting, that the rain didn't matter.
We loved getting a glimpse into Lisbon’s street art scene on our tour with Erica. She was incredibly passionate and helped us understand the layers and visual language behind what we were seeing, not just the art itself, but the culture and unspoken rules within it. She explained concepts like buffing, when the city paints over graffiti but sometimes leaves tagging or stenciled pieces behind, and how artists respond to that. We learned the difference between simple tagging and a more complex throw up, and how crossover pieces, when one artist paints over another, can be viewed either as a challenge or a sign of disrespect. Erica also shared how, in some cases, artists intentionally build on each other’s work in a way that is collaborative and respectful. One of the most interesting ideas she introduced was “returnable buildings,” structures that appear abandoned but are actually waiting for refurbishment. These spaces often become unofficial canvases where artists can create freely without impacting active homes or businesses. Our biggest takeaway from the tour was this: looking and truly seeing are not the same. Thanks to Erica, we’ll never walk past street art the same way again.
The tour was amazing, from beginning to end. The tour guide, Erika, was extremely knowledgeable, and put the "street art" into a social, cultural and historical context. She expanded the concept of street art to include murals, graffiti, and buildings decorated with tiles and enlightenment-era art. I learned so much, and the three hours felt short.
I had a fabulous street art tour with this outfit. My tour guide, Erica, was a wealth of knowledge. I would recommend booking this tour to anyone who has an interest in art history, street art, or just learning more about Portugal while getting some good exercise.
Erica our guide was so knowledgeable and sweet, generous with her time. She made this trip a memorable experience not only about street art but also about history, politics, and social issues. Such a wonderful way to get acquainted with the city.
This street art tour proved both wonderfully unexpected and profoundly illuminating. Our guide, Maria—whose English is flawless—was nothing short of extraordinary. She led us through the city’s most iconic neighbourhoods, revealing not only the art that has taken shape upon their walls, but also the delicate weave of social and political stories that inspire each artist’s vision. With rare sensitivity and deep knowledge, she invited us into a thoughtful dialogue, sharing her own interpretations and her intimate bond with the city. Through her eyes, we discovered Lisbon anew, touched by a renewed sense of enchantment. It was, without question, one of the finest tours of my life. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
A highlight of my trip! A great way to see the city- our guide was very knowledgeable and super nice. We must have seen more than 3 dozen -or perhaps even more- different street art pieces, and learned a lot about the artists, the way the city allows (or doesn’t allow) for art to stay, the international street art scene, and more- it was really interesting and fun. You’ll be glad you went!
Joana from Lisbon City Guru gave a fantastic tour! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the street art and the artists, and made the tour feel like a walk with friends. I highly recommend this company and tour.
In October, my husband and I joined tour guide Erica and a few other travellers for a 3 hour walking street art tour of Lisbon. And despite the rather rainy morning, it was fabulous from start to finish. Erica has an incredible depth of knowledge about the history and evolution of street art, and the artistic sensibilities of the individual artists themselves. It is not surprising to me that she is involved in research about the subject. But we particularly enjoyed her communication style and obvious passion for this fascinating art form. She taught us to not just look, but to really ‘see’ the city in a refreshingly new perspective. This was our favourite tour of 2 weeks in Portugal.
Erica , our tour guide , did an absolutely stellar job . She was passionate and knowledgeable about street art… and art in general
My wife and I took this tour with no particular expectations. Erika was out guide and we learned so much about street art. She was amazing in her knowledge. It was a long tour on foot with some steps and, of course, hills but the pace was perfectly fine for us in our 60's. Previouly, When I looked at walls being painted or names being written, I just considered it vandalism of public property. Erika gave us a new perspective. She was so knowledgeable. She explained so many things from simple tags to major commisioned pieces. She educated us about some well known artists in this community. We learned about types of "street art" from tags to ideological expression to artistic expression. We learned about some techniques including some forms of art pre-made on paper and pasted on walls. We even saw the rather crude drawing of a young artist.. It was a fascinating journey for us into a subculture we knew nothing about. The 3 hour tour went by quickly and it ended in the moorish quarter and we saw so.e art dedicated to the artists of Fado. We ended on what I believe was Largo de São Cristóvão and we had a great view of the city below Erika was ready to continue even after 3 hours but we had our fill and we had wonderful walk through Almafa as we headed back to our hotelbin Baixa and now noticed things on the walls of the city we would have previously been oblivious to or criticized. Thanks to our guide, Eirika, we got an education about communicating through street art....
Excellent tour. Erica was a very knowledgeable guide and brought us to some interesting locations that we wouldn’t see on a normal tour. So glad we did this.
Our guide, Erica, managed to pass on her passion in perfect English. The art has origins in the history of Lisbon and Portugal but is equally as relevant to the voices of today’s artists. Despite completing a history tour the day before I learnt a whole lot more about Lisbon and saw parts I’d never been to. The tour and Erica are both brilliant - you’ll walk away spotting art everywhere (although I wish I could carry Erica in my pocket to explain it all!).
This Lisbon street art walk was the best urban guided tour we have ever experienced. Erica's sharing of information, interpretation, history and current street art affairs was fascinating and exciting. Very warmly recommended!
This tour was one of the highlights of my Portugal trip. Our tour guide, Erica, was knowledgeable about street art and putting it into the context of history. Highly recommend!
Our great tour guide was well-informed and provided interesting street art commentary from an art history perspective. Be prepared for hills and stairs - this is Lisbon after all! Thoroughly enjoyed the morning tour and can recommend!
We had an amazing time with Erica during our three-hour street art tour. We learned so much about the culture of the street art community and its deep connection to the city. Through the artworks, we explored important social issues from both the past and present. Erica is a gifted storyteller with a profound understanding of her community. We highly recommend this tour—thank you, Erica, it has truly been the best tour we have ever taken.
Great tour guide who gave us not only showing us the street art , she also explained the story and/or history behind each street art piece.
This was a great experience and a great way to see Lisbon in general. Our tour guide ( I've forgotten his name but I want to say Luis?) Was very helpful and patient with the needs of the group, particularly patient with some slightly out of shape, slightly ignorant Americans who had joined the tour. There were well placed stops at scenic locations. He was clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the street art scene in Lisbon and further afield in Europe which really helped bring the tour to life. There are hills, its a lot of walking, but this is a walking tour in the city of Hills so consider this before booking!!
Such an interesting tour with Erica. She was so knowledgeable and We learned loads about the city and the history of street art. We got to see all over the city and got some great recommendations of where to go and what to see for the rest of our trip
An excellent tour with Leigh, full of knowledge and passion about street art! A must do experience in Lisbon
My son loves art and was keen to do the street art tour. I must say it did not disappoint. We were with 2 other people so our guide (Laith, sorry if spelt incorrectly) was able to take his time explaining and answering questions. It was very informative about all aspects of the street art. Make sure you take plenty of water and wear shoes for walking as it is a long walk! Thank you for a great time
Hands down, this street art tour was one of the best things I did in Lisbon. It was pushing 90 degrees out, and somehow it still felt like a breeze because Leith is that good. He’s not just pointing at murals. He knows the artists, the hidden spots you’d never stumble on, and all the stories that bring Lisbon’s walls to life. It felt like being pulled through the city by a storyteller who had us completely hooked—like a Pied Piper with an imaginary spray can. I kept catching myself saying, "Wow," out loud. If you're into creativity and culture, or just want to see a side of Lisbon most people miss, this is it. I’ve already told half my friends, and I’ll definitely do it again next time. The streets are always changing.
The tour and guide were awesome e! My 11yr old loved it and is now excited to explore street art all over Lisbon. It was a great way to see the city and appreciate its history culture. I would recommend it to anyone who is up for lots of walking
Wonderful guide - very knowledgeable and friendly! Answered questions, engaged us in conversation, and gave recommendations at the end of the tour. The art was beautiful, and the guide put it into context to help understand it better. This tour made Lisbon come alive!
Don’t miss this!!! Laith was wonderful - we saw beautiful street art - fabulous commentary - small group -delightful - Laith was so knowledgeable - gave us so much of the back story of the art; history; artists; locations - OUTSTANDING!!!
