Our stay at the Emerald House started out fairly good, although ended up challenging and quite disappointing. The air-conditioning for the full week never really worked all that well, but was halfway bearable. Although the last two days, it became unbearable. The staff had to bring in two fans and I had prop our room door open for hours just to get some of the cool air from the hallway inside the room. There was not another room to move to, and nothing could be done because there was no maintenance crew to fix it. The hotel looked fairly amazing, which is why my wife and I chose the property for our wedding anniversary vacation. I repeatedly had issue just trying to close the door on the balcony, as noise and hot air were coming in. I chose and paid more for a room with the balcony, but the balcony was small and not much of a view, if any. The staff showed me how to lock/close the door, but I did not want to put that much pressure on the glass like she had to, to just close the door. So I just kept the shutter closed the whole time, thus having and paying for a balcony that was useless. I will say that the staff was solid and I really enjoyed their great service when we were down in the lobby and at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the issues with my room overshadowed the good things. I was very optimistic about the hotel, yet came away very disappointed in the end. And after exchanging emails with the Hotel Manager, he gave us a percentage discount for the issues we had, which I believe was fair and appreciated.

As a Hilton Honors member, I expected a much better level of service. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing and certainly not what I expect from the Hilton brand. First, Room 1505 was extremely small—honestly, it felt more like a ship cabin than a Hilton hotel room. More importantly, the room was not serviced at all on the second day. After being out all day, it was extremely aggravating to return at night and find that absolutely nothing had been done. There was no shampoo, body wash, clean towels, tissues, or other basic amenities replenished. I called the front desk that evening and complained. The following day—which was already my last day—I received a written apology. While I appreciate the gesture, an apology after the fact does not make up for the inconvenience or the lack of basic housekeeping service during my stay. This was not the level of service I associate with Hilton Honors. Loyalty should mean something, and at the very least, every guest should be able to expect a properly serviced room with basic necessities available. Very disappointing experience. Addendum: I am sending these additional photos to document the condition of the room and the lack of proper housekeeping service. As the pictures clearly show, there was no shower gel or shampoo available on the second day, which further demonstrates that housekeeping did not properly service the room or even check and replenish basic necessities. I enclosed photos to show just how inconvenient, cramped, and potentially unsafe it was to stay in this attic-style room. The room was extremely small, with very limited space and an uncomfortable layout that was certainly not what I expected from a Hilton property. I do not believe this room, in this condition and with this level of service, was remotely worth the $340 per night that I was charged.
This hotel is super comfortable and the staff are very friendly. There are some nice bars and restaurants but they’re a bit of a walk (10-15 minutes) and it’s a good 30 minute walk to central Lisbon. Good buffet breakfast with cooked eggs/omelettes to order. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for 2 nights in March 2026. The service and staff were excellent. The woman at the front desk was very nice and attentive to our needs. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a suite (maybe because I booked through Amex), which was a very nice room. They also left us a piece of dessert with fruits to congratulate us on our honeymoon which was a sweet gesture. The hotel is very clean and the location is about 10-15 minute walk from the main part of the city. Overall, a great experience for us and if you don't mind walking 10 minutes to get into the main part of the city, it is a perfect hotel.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, which was slightly away from the main touristy area and therefore quieter and more relaxed, exactly what we wanted. Uber was readily available and reasonably priced, so getting to and from the main attractions was straightforward and never felt inconvenient. The staff were a real highlight. Sophie on Reception was welcoming and helpful, and in the restaurant Shah, Seema and Bia stood out for being very pleasant, attentive, and happy to cater to our specific requirements. The daily happy hour from 17:30 to 19:00 was an excellent touch: when you buy a drink, a selection of small bites is provided, which made for a very enjoyable early evening wind down. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and overall we felt relaxed and at ease during our stay. However, there were a couple of issues that took away from an otherwise great experience. The shower was temperamental: on some days the water was nicely hot, while on others it was only lukewarm, and when we raised this with reception the only response was to check whether we had the knobs turned the right way, which was not particularly helpful. In addition, our bedsheets were not changed after three days and we had to ask for this to be done. Overall, this is a comfortable hotel with excellent staff and a quieter location that works well if you are happy to use Uber, but there is room for improvement in maintenance and housekeeping consistency.
