Wonderful experience and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Tiago was particularly great. Even had a breakfast box ready for us since we had an early morning departure. Our suite was spacious and comfortable. The location is great for walking to local sights and many restaurants.

The hotel as hanging on by a thread. They very proudly post the 5 stars everywhere but although the hotel looks nice, amenities are there, the service is far from it. Just a dated property without a true understanding of what 5 star service is. Starting with check-in, the guy asked if I had a reservation walking in around midnight to check in. No i’m just here randomly with my suitcase. His english wasnt great nor was he welcoming. No towel, no welcome drink. Which I saw other guests receive during the day. Massive hole in my sheets, the fridge wasnt working, no service at the pool, waiters at breakfast didnt speak english and kept going in Portuguese eventhough I told them I dont speak Portuguese. Food was missing for room service yet I was charged for it, one of the cleaners strangely got into an argument as I had asked to change the sheets with the hole in it and she said “you’ve been in the room all day so we couldnt change it” as I walked out. Very aggressive and in fact I just had a few calls but was out all morning when they didnt rock up. No AC in the gym (with 35 degrees?!) plus very slim in terms of equipment. Plugs at the bed didnt work and I can go on!! All in all a very average experience and 5 stars, not quite.
Amazing stay at Palacio Governador - we loved this place. Location is excellent close to lots of historic sites like Belém and Jeronimos. Staff was exceptional, especially the front desk and bellman. Parking was convenient in the basement, a rarity in this part of town. Room was fantastic with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. Super cool historic architecture with an archeological dig on site. We didn’t try the food. Good restaurants close by - definitely Nunes Real across the street for top seafood. Highly recommend this place.
This was the least favourite of the four hotels we stayed in during our trip to Portugal. It's very comfortable but there were some things that frustrated us during our stay. The hotel is in beautifully restored historic building and they have done a great job of preserving some of its historic features. It has a nice bar and pool area, although both overlook a busy road and the railway line. Our room was large, clean and quiet. However, I did not like the bathroom being open to the bedroom (there are doors on the shower and the toilet). Wifi in our room was very poor too - perhaps not surprising in a building with thick stone walls. The restaurant is "Asian-inspired". We're not fussy eaters but none of dishes were quite what they seemed. I ended up eating the same meal two days running before we decided to find somewhere outside the hotel. The staff are lovely but we found service is willing but a bit slow and uncertain both for dinner and breakfast.
10/10 no notes. The room was incredible, the staff were super accommodating and friendly, particularly at the reception, the breakfast was splendid, the pool was great, clean and spacious. To top it off, the location is perfect, and the private hotel parking was an excellent addition, with electric car charging options. Lastly, a huge shout out to the cleaning crew, that was always insanely quick and never missed a single detail.
