We have stayed at Bairro Alto Hotel several years in a row. Starting and or ending our vacation in Portugal or just for a city trip to beautiful Lisbon.
This is hands down the friendliest and most welcoming place we have had the joy to experience. Rafael is a world class host and makes us feel truly welcome. The staff, the rooftop bar, the breakfast on the terrace, the quirky details in the room; this place has so many positives we will always continue to come back.

I have stayed at many exceptional, “famous,” etc. hotels - I can confidently say this hotel is one of the absolute best ever. Top 3 in all my travels. Every detail is pristine from service to rooms to decor to food. Even for those used to the special touch, you’ll get that and more here. Bravo - truly exceptional.
Spent an exhilarating 7 days in this welcoming hotel in one of the most vibrant parts of Lisbon.
From check in to check out, all the staff treated us with warmth and attentiveness. Aside from the very comfortable room and fantastic staff; the bonuses of staying at this hotel are:
1. The rooftop terrace overlooking the Tejo River - one of the best views in Lisbon.
2. The BAHR restaurant with its open kitchen and unpretentious dining area serves creative and delicious meals with friendly and efficient staff.
3. The Pastelaria on the ground floor serves freshly made delicious Portuguese pastries with a bonus mezzanine seating area with a vibe of tranquility.

The room was cozy yet tastefully decorated.
The bed was so comfortable, that I couldn’t help but sleep so peacefully.
The room was clean, the staff were helpful and courteous.
We were there during the World Cup final, and the bar was designated for their guests to view the game on a big screen.
Breakfast was delicious! The food was really good at the hotel, and the rooftop was divine. We would rush to watch the sunset and the beautiful views of Lisbon and the Atlantic.
The location was perfect, in the middle of everything. Lively, bustling, and well connected.
I would definitely stay here again.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of the vibrant Bairro Alto district. Despite being surrounded by one of Lisbon’s liveliest neighbourhoods, the hotel offers a refined and comfortable retreat. The views from the rooftop bar and restaurant are beautiful and provide a fantastic perspective over the city.
