The tourist fantastic Felix was very knowledgeable about all the things we wanted to see. If it were not for Felix, we would not have seen Lima and been exposed to so many cultural. Which we really enjoyed. We would highly recommend Felix. He was flexible and fun while being exceptionally knowledgeable. Our only issue with this Tours was taking the bus whichwas very crowded and uncomfortable. This would’ve been better if we had Uber or a driver to and from Lima back to Mira Flores.
Our guide, Josefina was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. It was a fun and enjoyable tour and a great value for the cost
DO NOT BOOK! At 7:30am the morning of our tour (booked for 9am) they say they have no guide and can only offer 2pm, 4pm or 6pm. Who starts a full day tour at 2pm? We booked this several days in advance and now won’t be able to have a tour of the city due to the last minute cancellation and everything else being booked… HORRIBLE.
We had a great tour of Lima! Our guide Josie was very friendly and knowledgeable of everywhere we went and answered any questions we had.
Jocelyn was an excellent guide. We tailored the tour to what I wanted to see. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions!
Wonderful experience. Well spoken and informed, Jocelyn, expertly guided us to and around the city center with many stops to discuss the historical and cultural details of the city. Hard to cover it all but received a good overview of Lima.
Allyson was superb; very knowledgeable and answered a variety of questions. She is also fun and funny, bringing stories to life, not just dry facts. We loved the flexibility of the private tour. It was clear that Allyson is highly regarded by the greetings she received at various sites. Highly recommended tour.
The most memorable part of the tour beside the beautiful city was the wealth of knowledge our tour guide shared with us about the area, history and culture of peru/ lima. I would absolutely recomend our tour and especially the guide to any one visiting Lima.
Jocelyn was a wonderful guide - full of information, patient, answered all our questions, and happy to accommodate all of our requests.
This tour was exactly what we wanted. We saw three neighbourhoods and Jocelyn was perfect -in her English and her knowledge and accommodating at the pace that we liked. It truly was a perfect private tour and much better than we ever expected! She was a delight!
Plaza de armas and the history of independency of Peru. With our wonderful guide, we were able to know much more better the way of life in Lima.
Joselyn was a lovely tour guide, very knowledgeable and charming. The tour covers the historic centre and a bohemian neighbourhood - so a good contrast. Catching the public bus was fun. It was a perfect impression of Lima.
Our tour guide (Yosselyn) was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and was able to customise our tour according to our interests because we booked a private tour. We learned so much and saw everything we wanted to see. Would definitely recommend !
We had a large group (12). Viator recommended a private car for 130USD. We declined and opted for public transportation as the tour was advertised. Jocelyn met us at our hotel in Miraflores and took us on a bus to Barranco, then on another bus to the city center. We saw the main squares, cathedrals, the presidential palace, and walked down Jiron de la Union (a pedestrian shopping street). She offered good information about the sites, some history, and a glimpse of the contemporary Peruvian political environment. I thought we would be finished in the city center, but she accompanied us back to Miraflores on another bus. I’m not sure how the private car would have been incorporated into a walking tour, but we were pleased with our decision.
The guide was pleasant but not knowledgeable, and if she was she didn't share it. I have to imagine Peru has a pretty rich history and culture. We did dot hear any of this.We have been on hundreds of walking tours around the world and this one was the worst. No stories, history, or back stories. My wife and I would not recommend this tour at all.
Great trip, Jorge was really knowledgeable of the area and flexible to change the route. Definitely will recommend it. Riding the local bus system was a nice treat. Especially a packed Metropolitano.
Great day with tour guide. Jose was on time-super knowledgeable and flexible- we had an insightful tour and found it to be a true value add for our 1 day in Lima.
David was very friendly and patient all the time si nce we were busy doing Pictures. He know alot of the past of the city which was very interesting. If you book the walk tour like we did, take some confortable shoes
Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed us many things in the city that we would have otherwise missed. She was also very flexible when it came to rearranging the schedule as some of the sights we had already seen. Highly recommend.
Joselyn gave us a nice tour. Very flexible about additional places to visit and her explanations were excellent. Definitely, I recommend this tour.
Excellent trip with a very knowledgeable guide. Very flexible in spending more time on the things we wanted to explore more. Thank you!
Jorge was wonderful. We were only in Lima for a day before heading on to Cusco, and our guide helped us make the most of it. We visited Lovers Park in Miraflores and the Bridge of Sighs in Barranco. We also got to watch the rehearsal for some of the Independence Day celebrations at the Governor’s Palace. We tasted chocolates and Pisco. The people of Lima are lovely and friendly and Jorge was extremely knowledgeable about his country and city. He took great photos of my wife and I and knew right where to go to get the great shots. We highly recommend him.
In November 2019 I had a tour with Julio, and now I can say that it was my best sightseeing tour in the year. Julio is a nice guide/buddy, and this tour is very well organized. Julio picked me up by calling me to my room at the hotel front desk exactly at 9:00AM. During the tour we saw many places of Lima, including the local market, the historic center, Parque de la Muralla and Barranco District. Julio knows every aspect of Lima transportation system, so we were able to move between important places quickly and without traffic jams. The tour took 4 hours, and they were action-packed hours. You won't be able to finish early and in fact you will be a little exhausted after the tour. I recommend that you take this particular sightseeing tour and another tour outside of Lima. While this is a good tour, there is a lot places you need to see outside of Lima in Peru.
We had a wonderful time with Josie. She walked us through all the right spots and their history. Allowed for alterations to tour. "Oh, you want to look at that. Sure."
Excellent tour with a guide that gave us so much information about Lima. We asked if it was possible to see changing of the guard which was then included in our tour.
I took this tour because I had only one day in Lima and I wanted to discover as much as possible with an experienced guide so I could see and learn as much as possible. My guide was Julio Molina and he was simply exceptional!! He had so much knowledge it was incredible. He was also kind, flexible and very accommodating! Seriously, if your guide is Julio, trust me you're going to have the best tour ever! We went from the historic centre, to the local food market; saw the authentic life of Limeños and the more touristical Barranco; we had passion fruit cold brew and empanadas; and we were lucky enough to witness a celebration of people from Cusco for San Esteban, which Julio kindly accepted we watch. Indeed, he never rushed me about time and allowed me to ingest all the culture and food at my own pace. Can't give enough compliments about Julio and the tour he gave me. It's worth every penny! Thank you Julio and America Viajes!
We had a walking tour of the city for approximately 4 hours and at all times Jocelyn our tour guide was friendly and was very prepared to answer our questions. The colony architectural contrast and vestiges of the Inca culture make this city have incredible diversity.
I visited the city after a trip to Cusco, it was a very good way to end my visit to Peru. Thanks for being very explanatory Jorge, our guide was great.
The tour was intense, I could see a very large and active city at all times. Leaving from miraflores we passed through a local market Jorge our guide showed us some local fruits and products of the country. The historic center very beautiful and tidy. Appreciate the company of my tour guide, very empathetic and friendly. It shows you the city from its perspective.
Our guide Julio is super nice and patient. He is from local and knows every aspect about Peru, from culture to economy, from politics to sports. The car came to our hotel to pick us up punctually. During the the tour, Julio explains every site clear and also accommodates us attentively.
Josie was our guide and she was fantastic. She showed us around the historic district, Barranco and Miraflores. Her knowledge of these sites was amazing. She answered all of our questions and her English was perfect.
Excellent guide through a vibrant, clean, and safe old town Peru. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Highly recommend this walking tour..
Our four hour walking tour with Jocelyn was informative, interesting and fun. She met us at our hotel in Miraflores and we walked to the nearest “fast bus” station and headed to The Barranco District. Don’t miss this experience of using the transportation system in Lima. The majority of our time was spent in the Historic District by request. Don’t miss this great tour! It is, indeed, a five star!
Jocelyn was a great tour guide with endless knowledge and professionalism. This tour is ideal for those who want to explore the culture and history of Lima. I highly recommend this!
We decided to start our trip to Peru with this walking tour. We only had one full day in Lima as it was far from the focus of our trip (the Amazon and Machu Picchu were) but we wanted to see something of the city. This tour did just that. Joshi took us on a mini-bus bus as well as two train buses to get around (Lima traffic is just plain ridiculous). We walked around Barranco, Miraflores, and the historical centre, saw the main sites, and got great insights from Joshi who definitely knew her stuff. Thoroughly recommended.
Yoselin led me on an interesting solo tour of Lima. Her English was very good and she knows the city and its history. I thoroughly enjoy the tour. The traffic in Lima is legendary. Avoid it by walking and taking the express bus.
Decided to do a tour of Lima before heading to Cusco and Machu Picchu. We purchased this tour with transfers to/from the airport. Walter picked us up at the airport on time and took us to meet Julio at the Sheraton hotel to start our tour. We spent about 4 hours in total. We started in the historic area of Lima, then took the bus to Miraflores, and finally a taxi to Barranco. Julio was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. He also found us a wonderful Peruvian restaurant to have lunch at the end of our tour. He then took us to meet Walter to head back to the airport. Fantastic tour and great way to get an overview of this beautiful city!
Having one day left of our wonderful trip to Peru, my wife and I decided to spend our last day taking a 4 hour walking tour of Lima. We had no expectations going into this tour, and hoped for one last memorable experience. Pedro, our tour guide, promptly picked us up at our hotel in Miraflores, and our tour began. He was extremely personable, and a wealth of knowledge of the history of Lima, including the history of the people, Inca and Spanish conflict, Art and Architectural influences, Religious history, as well as local popular culture. His encyclopedic knowledge was as rich as the history of Peru, and we felt immersed and entranced in the details of his stories. We took a train and Pedro showed us the historic center of Lima, known as ‘City of Kings,’ and founded by Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro. There, we toured the churches of San Francisco and San Pedro, the Presidential Palace, and Plaza De Armas. Other highlights included a walking tour of Barranco, and a thorough recount of the important cultural significance of the town that housed so many talented artists and writers. There were so many other destinations along the way, that it would be impossible for me to describe them the way Pedro did. In summary, I highly recommend Pedro, as you will find no one more literate in the culture and history of Peru. Do yourself a favor and take a tour with him! We will be back!
Julio picked me up at my hotel, and we walked around Barranco seeing the key spots: Bridge of Sighs; and Plaza de Armas Barranco. Then we sped into Lima Central on the Metropolitan bus. We walked from Plaza Grau to Plaza San Martin and Plaza de Armas before visiting the catacombs of San Francisco. We then took the Metropolitan bus back to Barranco and he accompanied me to my hotel. The whole time he was friendly, polite, and full of explanations of what we were seeing. Highly recommended and worth the cost.
Excellent tour if you enjoy walking. Julio is an extremely nice guide who did an excellent job of explaining what we were seeing. He was flexible and made sure I saw the things that I wanted to see. We started at my hotel in Barranco with a walk through the area, including the Bridge of Sighs and the Plaza de Armas Barranco. Then we took the Metropolitan bus to the center of Lima and saw Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, and the catacombs of San Francisco. After all that we took the Metropolitan bus back to Barranco and he accompanied me back to my hotel to ensure I found it. Great and nicely tiring day.
Our guide was great, she took us to the best places to try the traditional Peruvian meals and buy souvenirs. Her English was excellent and we liked her. If you are visiting Lima you won’t need more than a day to discover the city.
We walked the historic district in Lima today with our wonderful guide Julio. We spent about 4 hours walking at a leasurely pace. Julio was excellent ! He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, polite, a complete professional. We stopped many times as he described what we were seeing and the history behind it. He took photos for us and with us. He was completely attentive to our needs and wishes. Lima’s historic district is a fascinating area, but you definitely should do it with a guide. Thank you Julio !
We had Josie for a guide and she was great. Very informative and we got an excellent view of Lima and it’s history. Most reviewers said their tour lasted around 3 hours, ours took 5 hours. And, I don’t think Josie left anything out. We got a taste of the local bus transportation, being squished between passengers in which the bus driver only knows two speeds, full throttle and hard break - LOL. Josie was great and I highly recommend her.
We particularly liked that we were the only westerners visible on certain parts of the tour. This walk takes in everything you need to see in the city. If you only have a short period of time and want to cram it all in to a day then do it. The guide Julio knew his stuff and was very informative. We went for an afternoon tour. After a few hours we were starting to tire and needed a drink and asked for a pit stop. He took us to a great old bar called Cordano. We had a quick beer and continued the tour. It was Easter Monday and carnival day in the main square which added to the fun. At the end we opted to go to a great area called Barranco rather than our hotel. He navigated his way through the city excellently using public transpoirt and gave us a guide of the Barranco area too. He even offered to then get us back to the hotel if needed. We said thanks and our goodbye's and enjoyed the nightlife.
We were indeed lucky to have had Julio as our guide. His knowledge of his city and its history is vast.He dealt with our many questions with infinite patience. And his upbeat attitude was just what we needed, this being our first day in Peru after a long journey the day before. While billed as a "walking tour," we also took three buses to get around town—a great way to feel the local "vibe," and very convenient to boot. He showed us: •Palacio de Justicia (Justice Palace), their version of the Supreme Court. An enormous building. Must have a lot of judges employed there. •La Plaza San Martin, with a statue of Jose de San Martin, who liberated Peru from the Spanish. He also liberated Chile and Argentina. Showoff. •Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas (Main Plaza or Plaza of Arms, where the army hung out), surrounded by the Municipal Palace of Lima (City Hall), Government Palace (Presidential Palace), and the Cathedral of Lima. •Speaking of cathedrals, we saw a lot of churches here. In fact, Lima is known as "The City of Churches" and after our visit, it's a well-deserved moniker. Just two others to mention in addition to the Cathedral: —Merced (Mercy), where we went inside during a service. —San Francisco, which has catacombs with piles of skulls and bones, but sadly closed today, so you'll just have to use your imagination. •In the non-church category, we got to see remnants of the wall that used to surround Lima to protect it, but was taken down in the 17th century as the city expanded. What price urban sprawl? •Last stop: Barranco (Cliff), the bohemian/artsy section of the city with a view of the Bay of Lima. Oh yeah, and some real-life, and statues of, gallinazo (black vulture), a local bird of Lima (nice to know that they didn't have to commute in). Through it all, Julio's commentary brought Lima to life for us. If you're planning a visit here, book a city tour—and ask for Julio to be your guide!
My guide Julio is very knowledgable about the city. During the 6 hours tour we discussed Lima's (or general Peruvian) history, religion, culture, architecture, social-economics and modern day development like the MeToo movement, and Julio really went extra miles to showcase the treasures the city possesses and tried to provide me a wholistic view of the modern day Lima and its history. It was hours well spent and towards the very end, after hearing me mentioning the Mangos restaurant, he actually walked me to the plaza to ensure that I ended up at the right place. I really appreciate Julio for his enthusiasm, knowledge, self-reflection, and thoughtfulness. I had great fun and learned a lot on this tour.
I had this tour yesterday (about 4 hours) with Nataly. We started in the old city centre, visited a church and walked & talked a lot about the history and Lima itself. We've also visited Barranco where all the streetartists are located and it's been an experience just to be there. I was lucky I could see everything I wanted to see and Nataly's English was very good so she could explain a lot whenever I had a question. Good tour, recommend it when you have limit time in the city.
Great walking tour with Naomi. She took us from one end of Lima to the other with stops at the local market where we sampled the local fruits. She then took us to a area where the local artist live and showed us the architecture of the area. Our last stop was the Main Area, with the town square and government buildings. Her knowledge of the areas and history made the tour worth it.
This was great way to get an overview of the city center as well as some of the coastal neighborhoods. Jocelyn was great guide. She was very knowledgeable and very accommodating to our requests. We particularly enjoyed our private tour of Saint Francis Convent and Catacombs. Her knowledge of the history and culture of the city and friendly disposition made for a great day of walking. We highly recommend this tour.
