The Minor Basilica and Convent of Nuestra Señora de la Merced is a church located in Lima, Peru. It was designed in the Baroque style. Felipe was the heart of this tour. I was on a solo trip to Perú so feeling safe and accompanied was of paramount importance. My group was small so that was great for bonding and asking questions. Felipe is so knowledgeable, sensitive to people's needs and having and outstanding English. He is happy to respond to any queries and is so passionate about Lima including its history, food, culture... He also gave us good advice like taking High altitude sickness pill on fight height sickness if we went to Cusco. It worked!! He also gave us advice about food in Perú. He is such a kind soul and meeting him was such a pleasure. I strategically did this tour in my first day in Lima and that was the best decision ever as it kind of set my trip off to a great start with so much advice and notes that I took from Felipe’s narrative and advice. The pick up and drop off service was fantastic particularly considering what it takes to travel solo in a place like Peru. Felipé was awesome! He picked us up at our hotel in Miraflores with a wonderful driver, who took us down to the Central/historic part of Lima. He suggested going early to beat the crowds, and it was brilliant. We began with a very interesting introduction to Peru’s independence from Spain at the Plaza San Martín. We then examined the various historical types of architecture on our way to the Plaza de Armas, the Convent of San Francisco, the catacombs, the changing of the Guard and more. What is special about Felipe, is that he is extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of all of Peru and he’s very willing to entertain questions and explain things. Felipe was an excellent tour guide for our short stay in Lima! We were only in the city for 2 days but after spending a few hours with him in the city center we learned so much about the history of Peru and Lima. We saw love park, the plaza de Armas, the cathedral/catacombs and lots of architecture along the way. His English is excellent and he was able to answer all our questions with very knowledgeable and thoughtful responses. We did a private tour so we were able to go at our own pace and see the things we wanted to see. If we wanted to skip something we could, or if we wanted to stay somewhere longer we could. Felipe is also very well connected so we were able to skip the long line at the church/catacombs. His service is amazing. He offered to take photographs, called and made us a dinner reservation and even dropped us off at our restaurant at the end of our tour. He walked us all the way to the restaurant and made sure we knew how to walk home to our hotel after! We loved him so much we booked another tour with him for our second day (Barranco walking tour).
Paid for the trip. They never contacted us about hotel pickup. We took a cab, $25, to join the tour. We arrived prior to the tour start time and the tour never happened. Complete ripoff. Seems the only thing they were capable of was charging me for a tour they did not provide.
We had Marcos as a tour guide and he could not have done more to make sure we had a fantastic time. From answering all of our questions to making sure we got safely in a taxi back to our hotel, he was an amazing guide. Highly recommend this tour, thank you very much.

We were stranded in Lima for a day when our flight to Cusco got cancelled and rescheduled. We decided to make the most of it and booked this city walking tour with Felipe. It was the best decision that we could have made because we got to see the best historical sites of Lima, get to know the country’s history and the story of it’s people and we made an amazing friend along the way. Felipe is incredibly knowledgeable, has an amazing love for his country, and was the kindest person we have ever encountered in all our travels. Felipe is Peru! We were able to see the historical center of Lima, and see the catacombs which was one of the highlights of our tour! We were supposed to go on another tour afterwards in the barranco area of Lima but it was cancelled on us last minute and Felipe was kind enough to offer to give us a complimentary tour of barranco after our tour with him had ended. Definitely will recommend Felipe and Chasky Xpedition tours 100% to anyone looking to learn and experience Lima!
