A lot of fun and delicious chocolate! I highly recommend this activity if you’re in Lima and have a few hours to spare. Informative and delicious.
I thought its an extensive workshop on chocolate but I felt like it wasnt worth it. And the chocolate I made and ate are completely different taste from the chocolate had tasted. ME who is a chocolate connoisseur expected more but ended disappointed. I guess there is more to the $34 I paid for 2 hours.
Super fun and learned a lot. Angelica was great and taught us about the whole process from bean to bar. Highly recommend this tour. It’s a little tough to find in large Inka Market, but worth it.
At first it didn't look like much but we actually learned a lot about chocolate and had fun making chocolate treats. And, oh my, they were SO good! Ana was really great making us feel welcome and answered all our questions. She was fun.
Informative, fun class. Chocolate take aways! Helpful instructor who was very gracious to us and other participants. Started and ended on time.
We booked this for our last day in Peru for our mom's birthday. Our teacher, Said, was fantastic. He taught us a lot about the history of chocolate and how it is made, and we got to make some delicious chocolate bars and drinks. We had a great time.
This was an eventful experience where it was a mixture of fun and informative. Angelica, our instructor was amazing! It is definitely a class I would recommend to others.
Located at the center of the Inca Market, the chocolate making class was fun and educational. You make your own chocolate candies with a choice of many nuts and candies. After your chocolates are complete, you learn the entire chocolate making process from plant to bar. We loved the class and instructor. If you love chocolate, I highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience at the Choco Museo making our own chocolate bars, and learning about the entire process from bean to bar. We also got to taste a wide variety to chocolate from Peru, and several types of chocolate based drinks. We had such a fun time and would highly encourage others to do this. You even get 10% off in the shop after the class, where they have more chocolate and tea mixtures. Super worth it!
Erika was an excellent guide! She walked us through the chocolate making process, the history of popular chocolate drinks, and agricultural processes of cacau. Loved the experience !
Our tour of the chocolate museum was wonderful AND delicious!! Angelica did a terrific job teaching us about the history of chocolate and how it is made. Very "hands-on" experience!! I would highly recommend this tour!!
Fun chocolate making/history class. Guide is knowledgeable and friendly. History and influence of chocolate in peru is interesting. Recommend to anyone who likes chocolate
Location was challenging to find. Trip advisor address did not indicate location was in the middle of a shopping center. Once we got there, the education about the chocolate making process was excellent. Anna took time to ensure all of our questions were answered. We had fun selecting the brand, roasting them and making the liquid chocolate. Finally we made our bars with the option to choose from many add ins.
Great fun and very informative…would highly recommend for chocolate lovers. You make your own bars for a treat later.
This was my second ChocoMuseo workshop (I had previously done one in Antigua, Guatemala), and I'd still go again! Stefany was a really great instructor and kept the experience so fun and engaging. I learned a ton and the chocolate that we made and got to take home was delicious.
The class was a lot of fun and learning about and making our own chocolate was a good time. Ana was great and we thought it was a good way to spend a morning in Lima.
Great experience and delicious chocolate
A fun experience making chocolates and tasting many varieties with different flavors and percentages of cocoa. The class leader was sweet and explained everything really well. The tea made with the shells was also good.
A fun and informative experience. One star off for the following reason: - we got all kinds of additions for making our pralines, from marshmallows to salt. Well, I like salted chocolate, so I added a bit of salt.. This made the whole bunch inedible, had to throw it away. My mistake of course, but it would be nice if they'd told us to be careful with this stuff, using only a few grains..
It’s not just making own chocolate but drinks from scratch, cacao beans. We also learned about cacao trade, history and chocolate making process. Educational experience
Learned a lot. Enjoyed our chocolate. Really nice and helpful guide. The only negative was that the location was difficult to find. It was in an open air market which was nice.
Such an authentic experience - you get to go through the entire chocolate making process, make chocolada, chocolate tea, roast your beans, and of course..make your own chocolate! We went to Lindt Factory in Switzerland and thus experience in Miraflores was stellar!
Diana was a great guide, we learned so much and it’s really been the highlight of our trip to Lima!
Lovely experience. It’s located in the main aisle of inka market. I loved learning about the history of chocolate and making it from the bean. And you get to taste it all! 10/10
Said was a great instructor, great with our kids, took his time, we learned a ton about the process of chocolate and it’s origination. highly recommend!
This workshop was even better than I could have imagined. Gabriel was so energetic and knowledgeable and we learned so much about the history of chocolate in South America. We also got chocolate treats to take home! I would do this again in a heartbeat and the price is unbeatable.
This was a great activity to engage in. The benefits of education in cacao, meeting other travelers, making and drinking delicious chocolate, and having fun was delightful.
This was a fun experience. I almost felt like a chocolate expert when I left. Making my own chocolate bar was a huge highlight.
Did what it said on the tin. Hard to find the chocomuseo it’s in the shopping arcade on the grand floor. Looks just like a chocolate booth.
We wanted to be able to do something with our granddaughter that she wouldn’t find “boring.” This got the nail on the head. She was engaged and willing to try some new “flavors” Grateful for the family time spent together.
Steffany was fun to work with. She answered our questions and shared valuable information regarding cacao and the making of chocolate. Enjoyable experience with a great treat at the end!!
Learned a lot about chocolate production. Enjoyed hand# on approach. Would recommend to anyone…………..
We had a great time with Steffany at the Bean to Bar Chocolate experience. Steffany was fun and knowledgeable, we learned a lot. Of course, there was chocolate what isn’t good about that! We made chocolate candy to take home then proceeded to learn about where chocolate comes from and how to make it, from plant to chocolate milk. We crushed our own chocolate nibs and got to make chocolate milk and chocolate tea from our own “hard” (not really) work. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Lima.
Angelica was a great host. Explained everything clearly and was a lot of fun.
Great activity. Good pace, informative, enjoyable and fun. Enjoyed making chocolate bars and trying the steps to make chocolate.
Really unique small group experience with fun and knowledgeable cacao expert in the middle of the colorful Inka Market. Loved sorting, crushing and roasting beans and making our own chocolate creations.
Thoroughly enjoyable and interesting way to spend a few hours, Stephanie really knows her stuff and seems happy to share her knowledge. Looking forward to eating my chocolates later.
So much fun and interesting- even the teenagers loved it! Yummy
This was an excellent adventure that included a history of cacao, the bean-to-bar process, a chocolate tasting session which included different bars from 100% to 70%, and pouring our own chocolate into molds, making our own customized treats. Angelina was the Master of Ceremonies and was AWESOME!!!
The chocolate making part was fun - the rest was a little dry, the fact that there was a fake cocoa plant to demonstrate the process of making cocoa made it a little synthetic.
Host was very knowledgeable and was very patient with the kids. Great hands on experience for the kids. We made our own chocolates first, then three drinks from cacao beans.
Tremendous exposure to cocoa especially its processing. We spent lot of time making chocolate paste and learning of all the various applications of it. Tremendously fun and interesting.
Our guide, Anna, was really knowledgeable and personable. The activity is in an Inka market and we had 8 people in our group. Loved making our own chocolate bars and we got to mash cacao beans and make 2 drinks to try. It was a fun and simple activity to do but was a ton of fun!
Our family of four enjoyed every part of this class. Angelica lead our class (in English) and she was friendly and professional. If you are looking for a fun, quick activity to do in Lima, this is a good option. We were the only four in the class which made it even more fun and personable.
We did this for my husbands birthday with our group of friends and had an absolute blast. Very informational with a lot of hands on opportunities. The chocolate is delicious and we cannot recommend this enough!!
The cool thing about this is that you really get a hands-on experience of what it's like to make chocolate from scratch. They teach you all about where cacao comes from and the different varieties. Then you get to pick the cacao beans and roast them in a traditional clay pot. After that you grind by hand the chocolate into a paste and form your own chocolate bars. It was really cool to see, like they say, bean to bar how chocolate gets made.
It was only three of us so it was very intimate and enjoyable. The young woman who ran the experience was absolutely amazing. So cool to try a bunch of different types of chocolate and learn the history behind it 10/10 would recommend doing this, especially for the price.
Steffany was absolutely brilliant. It was so fun and amazing to learn a new skill but also an industry that we don’t know a lot about. The chocolate is absolutely delicious and I loved learning about how it’s made. The venue is within the Inka market so try and look for that big red sign and it’s in the middle of a square and the lessons are covered but still outside so still warm.
This is an intimate class taught in a shaded area outside of the small ChocoMuseo location. The ChocoMuseo provides all materials. Our instructor Stefani spoke both English and Spanish, and she guided us through the history of cocoa bean and chocolate-making. Because of the setting time required, you will make your chocolate bars first, then the instructor will go back to the beginning of the process of harvesting, drying, and preparing the cocoa beans for foods and drinks. This class is a great way to involve the kids (ours were 8 and 12 and were totally onboard), and an excellent way to learn about Peru and its agricultural history.
