Reviews
We spent one night at the Occidental León Alfonso V in a Premium Room on the top floor and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel’s standout feature is its impressive central atrium, which immediately creates a sense of elegance and space. The traditional cage-style elevator adds character and complements the architecture beautifully. Our Premium Room was spacious, stylish, and exceptionally comfortable. Being on the top floor gave me wonderful views across León, including Plaza de Santo Domingo, the fountain, and the historic church tower. Waking up to those views was one of the highlights of the stay, but the scene was equally impressive after dark when the fountain was beautifully illuminated and the city took on a completely different atmosphere. I also appreciated the thoughtful welcome touches in the room. The hotel had left complimentary bottles of water, chocolate bars, and bags of chips, which was a nice surprise and made the stay feel a little more special. The location is excellent, right in the heart of León, making it easy to explore the city on foot and enjoy the many restaurants, shops, and historic sites nearby. For those arriving by car, indoor parking is available almost directly opposite the hotel. However, access is quite tight and there are only a limited number of spaces. We were traveling in a two-seater convertible and managed without difficulty, but larger vehicles may find it a bit of a squeeze. The breakfast buffet was good, with a decent selection of options, although it wasn’t particularly memorable compared with some other hotels in this category. One area that could be improved is accessibility. We didn’t notice a ramp at the main entrance and had to carry our suitcases up a short flight of steps to reach reception. This may be inconvenient for guests with mobility issues or heavier luggage. Overall, this is a beautiful city-centre hotel with impressive architecture, excellent rooms, thoughtful service, and outstanding views. I would happily stay here again when visiting León. ⭐ Kimbo Score: 8.8/10 🚗 Would I stay again? Absolutely.
The location is great. The outside and lobby is beautiful but the rooms are very dated. I would say it is more like a good 3 star hotel. The staff was all very friendly. It is definitely not handicap friendly.
Very good location , just right in the center. There is enough space in the room and the shower water is good and stable. But the Tv signal is weak. The door of the washroom is heavy and not easy to be pushed.
The hotel is strategically located just a stone throw away from the Camino Passport issuance centre. As soon as one walks in to the lobby reception, one can’t help but to notice the interior architecture is filled with early 20th century charm fully restored to its former glory. The top-down view from high floors is something to be marvel with. A perfect starting point for Camino de Santiago from León. Hotel front desk staff are friendly and always ready to assist. Special mention to Javier - staff on duty (night shift) whose knowledge of the history and heritage of hotel impresses me.
