Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding in your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop. You'll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again. Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range
Afterward, head to Mare Aux Vacoas reservoir which has the honor of being the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of almost 26 million cubic meters and is simultaneously a rather popular stop for tourists visiting the south of the island. Although nothing as fancy as the other attractions in Mauritius, Mare aux Vacoas is a gem hidden between lines of thick forests. After some time, continue to Ganga Talao (commonly known as Grand Bassin is a crater lake, about 550 meters above sea level, located in the mountainous Southwest of Mauritius. On the shoreline sits a temple along with a collection of small shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and other gods. During your visit to this sacred site, you will inevitably be awestruck by the gigantic statue of Lord Shiva. However, fear not about your doom, at Grand Bassin you will find the Hindu God Lord Shiva, smiling and as peaceful as ever. The statue is 33 meters high & is the highest known statue in Mauritius. Ganga Talao is a major draw of crowds in Mauritius, with many people visiting the site to pray meditate, or simply to walk by the lake and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding views. The lake of Ganga Talao is thought to be around 18 meters deep and is teeming with a healthy population of fish and eels.
Afterward, travel to Alexandra fall, where you will admire the cloud forest of Mt Cocotte & the waterfall along with the view down to the south coast. Next, you'll head to Gorge Viewpoint, where you will stop for a stunning panoramic view of the endless green stretches. Amidst the unspoiled rainforest of Mauritius, there are almost 17,000 acres of rolling hills, deep valleys, spectacular waterfalls and unparalleled beauty of flora and fauna in the southwestern region. You will be amazed to discover how high the viewing area is from the gorge. On the right side of the viewpoint, you can see a breathtaking waterfall. The path leading to the viewpoint has a unique ambiance of its own with some souvenir stalls. We had a wonderful family trip. Our guide/driver Nawaz was excellent. We asked for some minor changes to the program which he gladly helped with. The trip gave us a great impression of the South-West of the island. The driving was calm and our kids didn’t get car sick. The only thing I would change was the restaurant recommendation as it was a bit loud and touristy.

The weather was horrible at most of the stops, but unfortunately the agency chose not to tell me ahead of the trip / suggest a new date. So I ended up looking at a white haze in some places. The weather was better at the 7-colored earth site, which is not exactly as colorful - while definitely unusual and nice to look at - as it appears from the photos on the web, so Photoshop might have done its part, here. The 800MUR entrance fee to the 7-colored earth site (~15€ ) is clearly too high with a shop selling merchandize mostly made in China and some local coffee beans at exorbitant prices. The guide/driver was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Some of the itinary was missed, we should have visited Le Port Ship Model Factory and Showroom, we were told that was a different trip, but it was on the agenda. We had a driver not a guide with little knowledge and when we arrived our destinations he got out for 2 then said he would wait in car, otherwise pointed where to go no information given,

The driver was absolutely lovely. I felt safe and well taken care of as a solo female traveller. The shopping was nice, but some places are extraordinarily pushy and turn rude if you don’t purchase something, specifically the cashmere shop. The prices were high and I did not want to purchase warm clothes on a tropical vacation. Otherwise, the rest of the excursion is as stated.

This was a great day out..private tour..visited troux aux cerfs a nice easy walk..then the large reservoir. The grand bassin was spectacular..then i visited Alexander Falls and great views at the black River gorge. But the highlight for me was the chamarel 7 colour earth. Small. But great colours. Had a great day out
Anoop was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Thoroughly enjoyed our day - the highlights being in Chamarel with the seven coloured sands and the rum distillery (glad we did that last - lots of tasting)
My driver was very kind and patient. He took me to all the great sights of the southern region of Mauritius and it was breathtaking. Including the food at Chez Ruben. Amazing local dining experience. Worth it for sure!

Very disappointing experience - itinerary changed without informing us, driver was uncooperative, and we felt pressured throughout the trip We booked this tour specifically because of the destinations mentioned in the itinerary. However, the first three places listed were simply not covered by the driver, The advertised destinations were replaced with stops such as Chamarel Rum Factory, which we had no interest in visiting. What makes this worse is that I was actually in touch with the tour organizer one day before the trip, yet nobody told me that some of the advertised destinations would not be included. The experience became much worse around 2:00 PM, when we asked to stop for lunch. We are vegetarians and had identified a suitable vegetarian restaurant only around 6 km from the Seven Coloured Earth area. The driver flatly refused to take us there, saying that the restaurant was “in the west” and not “in the south.” This made very little sense considering how close it was. He insisted that we first complete all the sightseeing locations and then have lunch. At the same time, he started warning us that if the tour exceeded the stipulated duration, we would have to pay an additional MUR 1,000 for every extra hour. This made us feel so threatened & uncomfortable that we eventually decided to start travelling back towards the hotel rather than continue arguing. Because of this, we finally managed to have lunch at around 3:30 PM. By then me and my wife were already feeling weak from not having eaten. One additional warning for anyone considering booking: look carefully at how the organizer responds to even mildly critical reviews. Some of those replies come across as dismissive and snarky, and in my experience that is a fair indication of the kind of customer support you may receive if something goes wrong. Book with caution and at your own risk.

We did this tour on a Sunday so we knew through our own research that the rhumerie & the atelier would be closed. Our guide, Namez, arrived at our pick up location on time. He was delightful. He explained things to us very clearly and answered all of our questions. He also accompanied us to each landmark, giving us some of the history, geology and even mythology of each place. The tour is more of a slow burn, with each new stop being better than the first until it culminates in Seven Coloured Earth (which was our favourite part). You get a very good snapshot of the main natural attractions in the South of Mauritius. Length of tour: 9 am to 5 pm. Tips: Bring your own water and snacks. Bring some cash for souvenirs, admission fees to Chamarel (Rs 800 per person, can pay by card) and for your lunch.

It was a really fun experience, the Chamarel / Valle park was awesome and our driver was very nice and spoke great English. I personally could have skipped the ship store but then again I am sure some may like it a lot. Our driver also took us to a nice restaurant for local dishes and it was very tasty. It was around 8 hours and it’s best for people who like to do something fun/adventurous rather than spending time in a resort.
This is a great private tour and superb value for money. Pick up times are confirmed through WhatsApp and our driver was on time in a very comfortable vehicle. There's a lot to see on the tour, however, we were never rushed at any of the stops and everything was at our pace. Our driver shared lots of information, but was friendly and very funny too. The scenery and views are stunning. Highly recommend this tour and operator 🙌🏻

Having read a number of reviews I had hoped for some information from our guide and not just a taxi ride but he spoke very little English. Sadly it also rained all day so we didn’t stop long at each of the sights. It’s a good way to see the island but maybe even some printed information on each of the sights giving history etc would make it more enjoyable.
