Fantastic trip! I’ve gone on this full day before many times over the years and it’s the highlight of any trip to Vegas. This is what Vegas is all about for me. Not the casinos and strip but this freedom on the water with wonderful people. This particular trip was with a group of friends before a retreat and was amazing as always. Michelle is a top notch guide and an amazing human. The full day is worth it and I wouldn’t consider anything less. You want the full day experience. You won’t be able to access this launch from Hoover Dam and the float in any other capacity outside of a tour. Don’t think on it, just book. Amazing value and sure to be the highlight of your vacation. Hoping to do a valley of fire hike with Michelle on the next trip.

We had a great time, Julia was our guide, she is knowledgeable, friendly and she was making sure that everyone stayed safe. I highly recommended.
Great workout, lots of wildlife.Nina was a fantastic guide.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our kayaking trip to Emerald Cave on the Colorado River was one of the highlights of our Las Vegas vacation, and Michelle at River Dogz made it absolutely unforgettable! Michelle was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much fascinating information throughout the tour—from the history of the river and the surrounding area to Las Vegas water conservation efforts, local wildlife, birds, and even stories about the city’s mob history. We learned so much while enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery we’ve ever seen. Beyond her knowledge, Michelle was patient, kind, encouraging, and genuinely a joy to be around. She made everyone feel comfortable, whether they were experienced kayakers or first-timers. Her passion for the area and for creating a great experience truly shines through. If you’re considering a trip to Emerald Cave, I cannot recommend Michelle and River Dogz enough. The views were breathtaking, the experience was relaxing and fun, and Michelle made the entire adventure one we’ll never forget. Thank you for such an amazing day! 🛶💙🌵☀️
Jessica was enthusiastic, and knowledgeable and I had a serene and educational adventure. It was hard to believe that beyond the volcanic rock loaming such a cool crisp paradise lie. A great way to experience the extremes this environment has to offer.
Best day out of our whole Vegas trip! River Dogz made the whole day smooth so that we could just enjoy the river and Emerald Cave. Our tour group seemed to have a mix of beginner and experienced kayakers and this tour was enjoyable for us all. The river was perfect for a hot June day (with lots of sunscreen slathered on), and provided a good chance for a fun workout, peaceful scenery, and cool wildlife sightings. Emerald Cave was small but beautiful, and the two-mile paddle out to the cave was fun and beautiful all on its own. Our guide Derrik was great, super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and he was really good at watching out for everyone and encouraging the group when the wind picked up and paddling got tough. He got some great pictures of our group and the scenery and shared them all, so even though I forgot my phone, I didn't end up needing to take photos myself. We'd definitely do this again next time we're in Vegas! Some tips to consider: 1. Definitely book a River Dogz tour. It's worth it to have a guide along the river and to have a company coordinating all the details and travel (having equipment, plenty of water, and snacks all ready for us, and being able to nap on the ride home after a long day in the sun was very much needed); 2. There is a very well stocked store at the marina that has anything you didn't already pack (sunscreen, water shoes, hats, sunglasses, towels, etc.) 3. Even with sunscreen the sun still got us a bit, so next time I'd pack a larger brim hat with a neck tie (it does get super windy at points) and a long sleeve shirt even on a sunny day; 4. Even inside the kayak it got pretty wet, and since we were allowed to leave belongings in the van if needed, next time I'd probably pack a set of dry clothes to change into for the ride home.
The scenery and whole experience was awesome. The green grotto was beautiful and so worth paddling for. Prestan was a very knowledgeable informative and enthusiastic guide.
The views were stunning, the guide was fun and shared interesting facts about the Hoover dam. We enjoyed the hot springs and laughed a ton! Highly recommend the full day
I did this tour in June of 2022 (the list didn't allow me to select that date) and it was way better than I'd imagine. The van ride itself wasn't too lengthy from the strip and our guide was entertaining and informative. If you've ever dreamt of being in two places at once you can be (Arizona and Nevada). It was a hot 35 degrees Celsius that day but the river water and breeze made it comfortable (pack sunscreen, hat and sunglasses). My best friend and I wanted to do something we hadn't tried before in Vegas and this was just what we needed. It was relaxing and enjoyable but also got a little exercise in paddling. I would recommend and would even try again.
We had such a great time! We were lucky to have a really friendly group of strangers together and that only made the experience even better. Preston was wealth of knowledge and such a fun guide. So far, this has been my favorite experience on this vacation - five out of five - will do again!
Epic day on the Colorado River. We have been telling all our friends that they need to book this trip. Great communication before the trip. Our guide, Michelle was awesome - very knowledgeable and fun. We were looking at the 4 mile trip and then learned about the 12. I was a little concerned about the distance but we are an active group and the guides said we would be fine and we were. Loved all the stops along the way - natural sauna, 2 hot springs, caves, beaches, coves and canyons. Weather was great 95-100 mid-day. Water is cold but the drips from the paddles felt great. Make sure to bring wide brimmed hats, rash guards and towel to cover legs as it is a lot of time in the sun but if you bring the right gear you can stay protected and prevent getting sun burned. It was a 4.5 hour drive to Boulder City from Scottsdale so drove up the night before, stayed at the Best Western, kayaked 8-4 and were back home by 9:30pm. We did pay $50 to have our car shuttles to Willow beach to save an hour of drive time. Stop at Mister D’s in Kingman for 50’s style milkshake or float on the way home.
Today for my sister and my 40th birthday we spent an amazing day on the Colorado river Kayaking and exploring the emerald cove. From the start when we booked the activity the communication was precise and to the point for peace of mind. Was met by Bianca jumped in the mini bus and we set off. From the tour itself to the experience and everything in between was amazing and would definitely do it again if I ever returned to Vegas. Thank you Bianca and Riverdogz for a brilliant day.
Preston was an awesome guide. It was quite a placid tour. I could have stayed longer. A great escape from the sensory overload of Vegas.
Our trip with Michelle on Monday May 16th, 2022 was wonderful. Michelle was most attentive, gracious and informative during every aspect of the trip. We were picked up at the MGM grand on time and provided with a lot of interesting information regarding the terrain during the drive. Communication was excellent for all portions of the trip. The river was beautiful and traversing the calm rivers was a relaxing experience. Michelle made sure we were comfortable, safe and hydrated all throughout the day. This was a highlight of our week long stay in the Las Vegas area. I would highly recommend this fun activity.
Wow!🤩 I had to leave a review for this trip!! It was absolutely AMAZING!!! Danny picked us up from our hotel in Las Vegas and took us to meet our guide, Jared. From there we were dropped off at Hoover Dam where our trip began. Danny and Jared were well prepared and did everything for us to get our trip started. We toured caves, hiked to hot spring (where we relaxed in the amazing hot pools of hot natural spring water), ate lunch by Emerald cave (which was delicious sandwich wraps, chips, fresh fruit, and granola bars), and had snacks and waters provided along the way. Jared made sure to point out interesting sites and wildlife! He is very knowledgeable about the area!! We even saw some wild sheep! Jared took pictures of us along the way!! When we reached the end of our trip, the guys loaded up quickly while we visited the marina. Danny and Jared were so polite and professional! While on our trip back to our hotel in Las Vegas, Danny saw some wild sheep along the way and even stopped so we could get a closer look. He even took pictures for us with the sheep! BEST TRIP EVER!! Thank you Jared and Danny!!! I will definitely recommend this trip to my friends and family!!
A kayak trip in January may not be at the top of your to do list - but it should be! We essentially had the Colorado River to ourselves. We only encoutered other people at the stops (hot springs really). Zach was our guide and he was excellent - knowledgeable, fun and a great guy. Seeing Hoover Dam from the water was phenomenal and the journey through the canyon was spectacular. It could be a long 12 miles but the stops helped break it up and we had a great tail wind pushing us along. Definitely climb the ladder to the hot springs.
This was my first time kayaking with a guide. I already knew how to kayak before going on this trip but if I didn’t Adam, our guide, definitely would’ve taught me. The people who were in my group were nice and enjoyable to be around. The weather wasn’t the best and it was very windy, so make sure you check the weather app before going! Adam also made sure we made it back to the hotel for our reservations. One lady in my group was having trouble and so Adam pulled her and her kayak back to where we started to help her out. Also make sure you wear water shoes!!! It was an awesome and fun experience and I definitely recommend!
I love stopping off at all of the hot springs and soaking. Visually beautiful and physically challenging. Our guides were wonderful.
We are so happy we took this tour. The highlight of our trip. Michelle and Jared were fun, knowledgeable and professional. We loved stopping at the various hot springs for a luxurious soak. The Arizona hot spring required climbing a 20ish foot ladder. Be brave the spring above is absolutely worth it! We were a little worried about if we were in good enough shape to kayak 12 miles. We had no trouble although we were a little sore the next day. (53 years old and average physical condition) Michelle took amazing pictures along the way and air dropped them to us. She also had all the money apps so we were able to Venmo our tip. I would highly recommend if you have the funds to take this trip. The trip was beautiful scenery, quiet and friendly atmosphere, wonderful guides, challenging adventure and peaceful. I cannot express how much we enjoyed ourselves! After seeing Emerald Cave at the end of this tour I am so glad we did the full day tour. So much more beautiful and fun!
Antonio was a great tour guide. Loved the drive to the harbor and the kayak down the river and caves was awesome. Well done Tony for being such a relaxed, friendly, knowledgeable and awesome guide!
Super great time, our guide Tyler was best, highly recommend! We even stopped in a local area and there where several big horn sheep!
Tyler was an awesome guide! Kayak trip was more then doable even for someone with a torn bicep muscle. Our end stop was quite a treat! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!
This experience was superb! I’m from Michigan and have done several kayak runs with other companies. The site was unique and packed with history and views. More impressive than that was this company as a whole. The four of us felt so lucky to have Preston, who humbly shared with us a wealth of knowledge on our drive in as well as our drive back, where he pit stopped and showed us a wildlife experience with big horned sheep that was just a blast. He took us on a short hike in the middle and gave us so many fun facts from local botany to historical government set ups on the riverside. He and his team showed extraordinary hospitality throughout the adventure. Needless to say, we left this experience entirely satisfied and grateful. They’re also great people. They insisted on returning a forgotten bag to me, hand delivering it back the next day to my hotel. Just wow. Great people. Specifically thank you Preston & Nick! And thank you to the whole company!
We had a fantastic day out on the water with our awesome tour guide Harry. He was very knowledgeable, fun, and patient and passionate about the job! My family and I had a great time doing the all day tour. Hot springs were amazing and the water was gorgeous! 10/10
Our trip was cancelled due to high head winds. We were so disappointed! The lady that called was heartbroken as well. She even tried to squeeze me in on another day but I couldn’t do it due to my flight time. They are a small company with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will come back just to do this trip with them.
So much fun and an amazing experience. Tyler, our guide was so helpful and even took some great pictures for the memories! I definitely recommend this trip for anyone visiting from out of town. I hope you get Tyler too!
Loved the tour!!! I wish the guide would have gone a little slower there were a few of us trying to catch up. Beautiful views !
WOW! This full day trip down the Colorado River with River Dogz was by far the best guided tour I have ever been on. My good friend and I were picked up from the Excalibur by Tyler and from the start I knew we were in for a great day. Tyler is the most down to earth personable guy. Took no time at all to feel like we were just catching up after some time away every though we’d never met. We chatted all the way to the Dam with him and the other 3 day trippers we picked up along the way. Tyler ended up not only being our driver that day but one of our amazing guides as well. He and Scott (our other guide) were out of this world amazing. I feel like we hit the jackpot with these two men and if I return (which I absolutely will!) I will be requesting my guys. Scott is just a top notch human. He’s an encyclopedia of knowledge and someone I’d be honored to have as a friend. If the Tumble weed ever makes it to Colorado I’d love to adventure. He taught us so much about the area, shared his love of the history and told tales of long ago.Think about when in your life you pay for a guided tour and end up spending the day with people who feel like long time friends rather than employees of a company. Where at the end of a long day you’re sad it’s over and would be more then willing to do it all over again right then. That’s the experience you’re sure to get with River Dogz. The trip itself is breathtaking. Launching right under the dam is a once in a lifetime experience. The water was like clear emerald green glass. We made many stops to explore the area. We went to the vapor cave, which if you’re considering doing a half day vs full day trip, pick the full day! So many perks to the full day but this cave was amazing and not something you’ll ever get to do on the half day trip. We went to the hot springs, took a nice soak and saw the Emerald Cave which is just beautiful. Lunch is provided for you and the owner Matt called personally to gather requests prior to the trip. Tyler and Scott had lots of water and snacks for everyone throughout the entire day. There is absolutely nothing I would change about our trip as everything was just perfect and I can’t wait to get back on the water. Highly recommend!
Such an amazing day! From the time I called to book my trip until I was dropped off at my hotel at the end of the trip the staff at River Dogz were helpful and friendly. Being at the base of Hoover Dam was astonishing! Zach was extremely knowledgeable about both the history of the area and the landscape. I signed up by myself and Zach was super friendly making me completely comfortable the entire trip. Relaxing in the hot springs felt great and the colors of the water and the rocks were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We got to see big horn sheep (including week old babies), fish, eagles & little lizards. If you want a trip of a lifetime with professionals you should book now!
This tour and our tour guide zach was amazing !!! I would really recommend this to anyone in Las Vegas I think this was the best activity we did in my whole vegas trip! My favorite thing we did on the tour was go into the hot springs it was perfect! We saw lots of wildlife too! Definitely do the FULL DAY experience if they are offering it because it is so worth it ! My husband and I really really enjoyed it, we are so doing this again whenever we come back to vegas next. THANK YOU ZACH AND RIVER DOGZ TEAM!!!
I cannot say enough about how amazing and wonderful of a time this is. River Dogz was also beyond my expectations. My two daughters (17 & 12) and I took the full day river tour (this past Friday actually), Scott and Tyler were our guides. These two guys were really awesome. Scott is an encyclopedia on the history of the Hoover dam where it relates to the river, and the river itself. It was great to have a guide so knowledgeable about the river's little secret places, and its history . Both Scott and Tyler are very down to earth and it felt as if we were on the tour with friends rather than strangers who were just their to guide us because they were getting paid to do so. The whole experience from the views, the hot springs, the beaches we stopped at to explore, taking a swim in the river, the peacefulness and calm of the river, laughing and talking at lunch (which River dogz provided BTW), etc, etc was just an outstanding experience. Both my daughters feel the same way. I would definitely recommend this tour with River Dogz to everyone and anyone. Easily worth every penny!! Thank You River Dogz!
I'm looking forward to another trip down the Colorado river . We had so much fun. I did fall but i was okay.
My friend and I did this last September, it was amazing and our tour guide Edgar was fantastic. We are visiting again this year with are partners and we are going to do a full day this time. Can’t wait.
amazing day out with River Dogz - would definitely recommend. Matt called the day before to advise us on what to bring and expect. He also picked us up from our airbnb with some excellent donuts and provided a very delicious lunch. We couldn't have wished for better guides than Brett and Michelle who really made our trip entertaining and interesting. They are a very customer focused outfit and we would love to kayak with them again.
We had a wonderful time on this tour! We even saw Mountain Goats Definitely would do again 😊 Thank you!
Riverdogz guide Matt is a great guide. Kayaking on the Colorado river through the black canyon is an unforgettable experience, Matt is funny and knows a lot about the surroundings and keeps it safe. Will absolutely come again.
We took the full day trip down the Colorado and had a blast. Visited the dark sauna cave, the Arizona Hot Springs, and got a great history lesson from our guide 'Edgar the Great' who has clearly studied his material. This guy is passionate about what he does and if you're lucky enough to get him on board - you'll for sure have a great trip. We got a great set of lessons on the story behind the story of the building of Hoover Dam among many other 'life lessons' haha Matthew (the operator) was in touch with us the day before with recommendations as to dress, what to bring and not bring. At launch and pick up his company mascot (black lab) 'Phenix' was a blast and provided some comic relief though he didn't go on the tour! Matthew picked us up at the end of the day with much appreciated 'adult beverages' while we packed up and headed back to the Lodge! A great day was had by all! I'd do another tour with these guys in a heartbeat! Jim Collins
Wow this company and tour was one of the most memorable parts of out trip back to Vegas. If your an outdoor lover like myself and want a day trip outside the city this company will not disappoint. They offer a variety of tours and Matt the owner was very helpful and touched base to confirm pick up lunch and snack preferences. Overall he and the guide were very accommodating. Will absolutely book with them again. We did the full day tour from Hoover Dam. Scenery was amazing.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area or Las Vegas. I was picked up at my hotel by Edgar and we traveled approx 30 mins to Boulder City to launch by the Hoover Dam. We stopped at a few places along the Colorado to see hot springs, the Emerald Cave and hike to beautiful views. Edgar was very patient and kind and knew quite a lot about the area and wildlife. I will definitely return to the area and check out more of the River Dogz tours. I would say this was the highlight of my trip in Las Vegas!!!
What an awesome day we had. Matt, Eric and Michelle looked after us very well. Plenty of food and drink provided. Kayaking was great fun with spectacular views round every corner. A must do.
We were with Eric, and everything was Perfect! Everyone was kind, excellent organization, and great view. Very recommend
Matt and our guide Edgar were absolutely amazing. We had a memorable day of kayak, an experience we will never forget. Matt took care of picking us up from our hotel, selecting the right kayak, giving us all the instructions and information about the river. We even ate well. Trust is so important when buying an excursion and I can say that you can count on Matt. Thanks again for an amazing experience and I will definitely get in touch with you guys when I return to Vegas.
My husband and I were in Vegas for a conference. Oh dear, so many people, so much smoke, so much everything! We are simple rural folks who enjoy exploring nature by foot or water so we looked into kayaking options before we left, knowing that the weather would be 115 (and it was and we learned you don't have to worry about the cleanliness of port-a-potties when it is this hot because they will be about 150 degrees inside and everything will be sterilized). There are only a few companies who are allowed to put in below Hoover Dam and reviews indicated that River Dogz is the most receptive, friendly, and willing to work with a small group. From the first contact Matt was quickly responsive to all our questions. He recommended paddling on a Monday when motorized boats are very limited. We overnighted at the Hoover Dam Lodge (adequate, decent price, friendly and sure nice not to have to get up earlier) and were picked up before sunrise. Another couple had booked for the same day but cancelled at the last minute. Other companies would have cancelled us since that meant only two people paddling. Not River Dogz! We ended up getting a private tour! I won't repeat everything everyone else said, but here were the highlights for us: 1. sunrise below Hoover Dam. Whoa! If you think it is impressive from above you should see it from below! 2. special touches: Matt took pictures of us at good spots and sent them to us later that night. Thank you! Extra hats shade and sunscreen if we needed it. 3. seeing mountain sheep and hearing about how they crack open cacti with their horns to eat them 4. not seeing any rattlesnakes and feeling well cautioned where they might be 5. having single kayaks, many companies won't do this. After a previous kayaking adventure where we spent much of our time getting back into a double kayak we learned for us two boats are better than one. 6. going at our own pace, stopping when we wanted, seeing what we wanted 7. the water! it is so clear and cool! Even though it got to 115, between leaving early, staying in the shade, and lots of headwind it was really only hot the last hour. Matt supplied plenty of water food and snacks. 8. Emerald Cave. It really is that beautiful. I've never seen water glowing that shade of green before. 9. watching storm clouds roll in at Willow Beach 10. no bashing of other companies. River Dogz knows what they do differently than other companies but speaks respectfully of them and we had no problems sharing the river. We headed out before another larger group, they passed us a few times, we were never at the same beach at the same time and honestly we rarely were paddling on the same stretch at the same time. 11. nice shady beaches for resting. Some tips: 1. if you go in summer, take a long sleeved shirt and plenty of sunscreen 2. wear old tennis shoes, easier to hike than water shoes that fill with pebbles 3. this is not a float trip: plan for paddling. There was no flow and a strong head wind meant paddling all day for us, sounds like this is typical. Should we ever find ourselves in the Vegas area again, we would certainly take another tour with River Dogz!
