Regina Palace in Stresa delivers everything you'd expect from a four-star hotel and more. Rooms and service were excellent, and the lake view is a genuine highlight. Special mention to the young bartender with glasses working the evening shift in the Bar: attentive, friendly and genuinely professional. A real asset to the hotel. The reason for four stars instead of five: the included breakfast doesn't match the price point (€370/night) nor the expected hotel's standard. The only truly Italian items were the cornetti and some of the cured ham; the rest felt like convenience products aimed at an Anglo-American crowd rather than proper Italian cuisine. The coffee was mediocre at best (a shame in Italy of all places). Great hotel, great location, great staff. The breakfast is where they're leaving something on the table.

Nothing is free in italy. Ironing and water is all a charge. The hotel itself is beautiful. The spa was incredible. The front desk wasnt very helpful. We did store our bags in the side room but we didnt find out till later there are side elevators for bags in the entrance of the hotel. The views are amazing so we still enjoyed it. The breakfast was amazing daily with many choices. The room was really small and not much storage either
Brilliant location directly opposite Lake Maggiore and 5 minute walk into Stresa. Staff so friendly and helpful. We were half board. Buffet breakfast and choices for evening meal. Main course was not hot enough for my liking a couple of times. It’s a beautiful hotel with lovely Murano glass chandeliers and stunning stained glass entrances. Lovely pool and gardens but often no lifeguard or attendant on duty which I found a bit worrying.
This hotel looks very grand and luxury from the outside but inside the rooms and decorations are dated and needs uplifting. May be this is not my cup of tea. Even the management of the hotel is old fashioned, look at the notice about the mini bar charing in the photos uploaded , you will understand. There is no water kettle in the room nor coffee maker nor cups nor complimentary bottled water. You can’t really make your own cup of tea or coffee in your room , which means you have to pay at the bar. The rate room does not match the services provided. For the price paid I am sure there are much better choices.
This hotel is absolutely stunning. It looks like a real palace, and the location is perfect—right on the waterfront in the heart of the city. Unfortunately, the beauty of the property is completely overshadowed by some of the worst service I have ever experienced. I was not checked into my room until 6:00 PM. Nobody contacted me to let me know when the room was ready. When I returned to the reception desk at 6:00 PM, I was completely ignored by the staff despite standing there waiting for assistance. My luggage had simply been left unattended in the baggage room. Nobody brought it to my room, nobody explained where I needed to go, and I was handed a room key and left to find my way myself while dragging heavy suitcases through the hotel. I became lost, frustrated, and upset. No one offered any help. Eventually, a receptionist reluctantly agreed to show me where my room was located, but even he could not find it. When we finally arrived, the key card did not work and he had to go back for another one. Throughout all of this, nobody offered any assistance with my luggage. When I finally entered the room, it was unbearably hot. The air conditioning was not working, making the room extremely uncomfortable. The hotel does not even provide a small complimentary bottle of water. One of the power outlets did not work, the sink drained poorly, and water from the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. However, the biggest disappointment was not the room itself—it was the attitude of the staff. I understand that weekends can be busy and that this is a large hotel, but I have never felt so unwelcome or so completely ignored as a guest. It is genuinely sad because the city is beautiful and the hotel itself is magnificent. Sadly, the service and lack of care for guests turned what should have been a wonderful stay into a very disappointing experience. One more disappointing detail became apparent later during my stay. On the third day, I accidentally learned from other guests that the hotel has a beautiful spa and an impressive swimming pool. Shockingly, no one mentioned this during check-in or at any point afterward. As a result, I completely missed the opportunity to enjoy these facilities. This raises an uncomfortable question: is this information selectively shared only with certain guests? It genuinely felt as if guests who book an economy room are treated as second-class, not worthy of being informed about the full range of hotel amenities. Yes, the hotel is visually stunning. But the overall attitude toward guests is careless, dismissive, and inattentive. A beautiful building cannot compensate for a complete lack of hospitality and basic respect.
