I honestly cannot get used to this "Siesta type" working hours in Autumn. If you do decide to go: Check the working hours before you decide to visit and make sure to go way before because you might struggle with all the construction work and bridge closures to get there in time like we did. Do not expect to be able to do any decent pictures of the tower without coming at the right time to be able to pay the entrance fee because its closed with a fence.

Reviews
We were passing through and they pointed us to this suggestive and imposing tower... what can I say, it was a dive into the past, more precisely from the 1850s to the early 1900s. Many interesting facts, everything well taken care of starting from the park, tower, and museum. A shout-out to the very kind and patient staff. Recommended since the visit lasts a maximum of 1.5/2 hours
The tower dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II, built in 1880, is visible from the main road, but up close it is even more majestic. We purchased a single ticket for three Risorgimento museums for 12 euros. Just seeing this is worth it all. Inside the tower, one relives the Risorgimento history from 1848 to 1870. It is a leap back in time. There is also an old working telephone with a receiver at the entrance that provides explanations like in the past; otherwise, near the various frescoes in multiple languages, you can scan the QR code with your cell phone and access the explanation. There are also explanatory plaques. Some floors also feature videos, some of which are almost realistic. You ascend via a wooden ramp to the various levels; however, on some, the passage is closed, and you proceed from one ramp to another using about 4 to 5 steps, which I mention for those who have mobility issues. Perhaps individuals with wheelchairs can also access the closed ramps above by asking at the ticket office. Some floors are accessible to individuals in wheelchairs as well. There are no elevators. There is no air conditioning. The lower floors are quite cool and well-ventilated. The last floor before accessing the outside of the tower is rather warm, and I recommend bringing a good fan or a small battery-operated fan if you have one, along with a bottle of water. Each floor has a bench to sit on, so you will calmly reach the top. The view of the landscape from inside overlooking the surroundings is beautiful. However, the exterior of the tower, which is completely in the sun and lacks benches, compensates for the climb with a splendid view of Lake Garda and the Rocca di Lonato, which makes the entire ascent worthwhile. A 360-degree view. On the terrace, there is a lantern that contains the lighthouse that flashes the colors of our Italian flag from very far away. The garden is very well-kept with hedges, and there are hidden bins everywhere among the hedges, plus a small fountain at the entrance. Continuing to the right of the tower, you will find the museum, which has a beautiful display of weapons, cannons, and much more about the various battles of the period. Outside, two benches will provide you with relief. Following the signage, you will find to the right of the museum a vending machine for water and drinks at very reasonable prices, a refreshment area with benches and chairs under cover, with bins, clean restrooms, and another drinking fountain near the tables. A breezy area if there is a breeze and with shade. I recommend taking a break here; bring a sandwich with you and remember to keep it clean; the bins for waste are plentiful. The place is quiet, so no loud noises; you are not alone, and there is also a caretaker. If you feel like having a restaurant or a coffee, you will find it outside, directly in front of the ticket office where you parked your vehicle for free. In case the parking lot is full, do not worry; as you exit the ticket office, next to the ossuary, you will find a large parking area, and then you can take a short walk in the shade to the tower. Extremely kind and competent staff. It takes about 2 hours to go between the tower and the museum. If you take a break, 3 hours may pass without you even noticing. I recommend comfortable shoes; sandals are fine, but no heels for the ladies. I highly recommend visiting it.
I visited this site, found it very interesting and beautiful; the history of the battle, the history of the area, and of our beautiful country, the view from the tower is fantastic, the museum is very beautiful and interesting, kept clean and well organized. I highly recommend anyone interested to spend an hour or more there. 😍🔝
Monument that you can already see from the highway, admired from afar for years, I finally find the time to visit it. Nearby parking with also an on-site restaurant and opening hours in line with other attractions of the kind. Various types of entrance ticket, I opt for the 12€ one including 3 entrances: the tower of San Martino, the fortress of Solferino and the Museum of Solferino. In an hour you can visit the tower well, which already at the entrance leaves satisfied by the beauty of the place. Recommended stop.
Very friendly staff in San Martino welcomes her Laura and in Solferino I was even lucky enough to get an introduction through the museum
We went up the tower and it was really interesting, it starts at the entrance with the names of the dead soldiers projected on the walls with music playing in the background. Then you start climbing the stairs surrounded by many frescoes until you reach the top on the external roof
This tower is well visible from the entire southern area of Lake Garda, and has a similarly good view. It was built to commemorate the Second Italian Liberation War in 1859 when the Italians together with the French defeated the Austrians. Next to the tower is a museum that describes the war in more detail with audiovisual means. Weapons, uniforms and equipment from the battle are also on display. In summer time it can get hot to climb the stairs, but this is really worth recommending. A bottle of water is okay to bring.
A single ticket for the three museums - duration 30 days San Martino del Battaglia 3 places one ticket 883660307 I had been there as a child and I wanted to go back for a long time. In San Martino you can take a dip in the Risorgimento. With a single ticket (10€) you can visit tower + museum (more in Solferino fortress + museum). The Ossuary is open access
In its simplicity is imposing, well maintained the garden that surrounds it. Behind the weapons museum are Covered wooden tables and the toilet. Seems like an Enterprise Climbing the Tower, But It's Not. You climb on internal ramps that take you to the top from where you can enjoy a wonderful view. The museum behind the tower contains documents, weapons and historical uniforms. Interesting multimedia room. The ossuary, a 5-minute walk away, strikes you for the presence of skulls and bones of soldiers who died during battles. Interesting plaques in memory of the fallen from the various brigades. Recommended the cumulative ticket that includes Rocca di Solferino and museum of weapons of Solferino. You save a little bit
I must say that the sight and the historical specifications described have been very useful to “dust off” the school books closed for some time now. Beautiful view but unfortunately for 7€ (standard ticket) I must say alas that we found 3 closed historic rooms, a shame! For the rest, I still recommend the visit! the climb is agile (trust a non-sporty), the view is beautiful.
Truly suggestive place, full of history and with a breathtaking view once you get to the top! The girl who is at the tickets is really nice and professional. Stop that I recommend everyone to do if you are in the area😍
Very nice monument from the outside and with a nice garden around. Inside the ground floor normal situation. Climbing the ramps that lead to the roof dirt and cobwebs on glass and dust everywhere. Unworthy management of a monument dedicated to the fallen!
We went to visit the Tower. I really liked it. Of course, four hundred years ago without it was the internet...... what they could already build. Touching is everything around us. So much history. Touching is the ossuary. Do not miss the whole view of the three museums.
Museums, ossuaries, locations and landscapes kept very well. Very good guide, site x immerse yourself in those who like history in a place where events led to the unification 'of Italy. Very characteristic is the ossuary and the Tower (of which the view is unparalleled above) which leads to intimate and profound personal reflections. Beautiful view of the vineyards, near there is a 'Farmhouse where they sell a delicious wine called "Lugana Bianco". Every place and every place is steeped in history and battle. Solferino's in the distance. You can then go to see Desenzano del Garda and also see the village Lugana where there are the characteristic vines of the homonymous wine.
Pleasant surprise, monument that I did not know but plan of interesting ideas, even the museum is nice. Easy to reach from any shore of the lake on the south side, very well maintained area with a beautiful bar... the monument can be visited completely, Salento to the top from where you can see a beautiful view
Do not miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in a site that represents the history of our Italy. Very touching visit to the ossuary where you can breathe the drama of the battle. Do not miss the visit to the tower. Highly recommended.
Museums and ossuaries kept very well, friendly and helpful staff. Amazing places with a unique lake view
the museum route is well done, helped by photos and documents as well as artifacts of the time. even the 10-minute video well explains the progress of the battle
A blast from history!!! You have the impression of being inside the battle.... to really live it..... I would not have come away from the tower anymore!!!!
Museum of San Martino simple but clear, with a beautiful ten-minute film projected on the map of the war zone, with troops on the move! Tower of San Martino very interesting, with exhibitions along the climb, and with interactive sections with videos projected at man height. From the top breathtaking views of Lugana and Lake Garda, to the Apennines to the south. Nice ossuary, too.
Beautiful place, full of memories and kept very well! Friendly and present staff with discretion.
Tower layout. Really well done. Each rest area is a time to see exhibitions, paintings, presentations... The climb is really pleasant and the absence of steps makes fatigue more bearable.
Stop for those who have boys studying wars of independence. A very detailed museum that captures the history of the place well. From the tower you can admire an unmissable view of the hills.
I really wanted to visit this piece of history and it was really interesting. Both the interior, which must be viewed carefully, and the view will repay your visit.
A piece of Italian history where there was a great battle. You enter a tall monumental tower, through a path is shown the equipment of the soldiers and explained the living conditions. From the top of the tower of sees all the Benaco. Behind the tower there is the museum where a film recounts the battle and you can see some artifacts and old letters. Not included in the visit, but recommended, the visit to the ossuary located a few meters below, really makes you realize what happened.
