Ahg Golf Hotel Porta Del Sole

Lovely hotel close to Lake Garda. Need a car really to get down to the lake area as the hotel is quite remote. We were half board, breakfast was what you would expect of an Italian buffet breakfast but the evening meal was outstanding. We were there for 5 nights and every meal was so much more than expected. The 3 staff members waiting on were so friendly and lovely. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Italy, and unfortunately, the two experiences were completely different. On our first night in Italy, we stayed here and were given two rooms that were spacious, clean, comfortable, and well organized. We were very happy with the hotel, which is exactly why we decided to book it again on our way back to the airport. The second time, we paid the same price, but the room we received was in a completely different, separate section of the hotel. There was no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs. The room was much smaller, noticeably older, and most importantly, the cleanliness was disappointing and the bedsheets had a very unpleasant smell. When I mentioned this to the reception and explained that the room was small, not clean, and that the sheets smelled bad, the response was that this was a “Classic Room” and that it was not supposed to be as large or spacious as the rooms we had during our first stay. I can understand that a Classic Room may be smaller — but what does that have to do with cleanliness? Does booking a Classic Room mean we should expect a lower standard of hygiene as well? Room size and room category are one thing; clean sheets and a properly cleaned room should be a basic standard in every room. We also paid for the room and the tourist tax when we arrived at night. The next morning, the receptionist asked us to pay the tourist tax again. I had to explain that it had already been paid and ask her to contact her colleague from the previous night to clarify the situation. Our first experience was excellent and made us want to return, but unfortunately, our second stay was very disappointing. Regardless of the room category, cleanliness should never be compromised, especially in a 4-star hotel.

We loved this hotel, especially because the staff was friendly and helpful, staying always positive and trying to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The food was excellent and Vinicius with Alberto made sure that the delicious food was always delivered with a smile. Grazie mille!

Really nice place to stay, friendly and helpful team, wonderful views, delicious food and great value. Marking the location down only because I suspect people would prefer to be nearer the lake. For the non drivers, there's one bus really close and another that's not too far away.
