Enjoyed meeting other travelers and the conversation. The wines were good and reasonably priced. The event space was nice and roomy. We chose the meat and cheese option and were pleased.
My husband and I enjoyed this minimum 10 or 12 person wine tasting BY OURSELVES. So lucky! The wines were delicious and the food pairings were very good. Our guide, Sandu, taught us a lot about Italian wines and we ended up purchasing some to ship home. This was a definite highlight of our trip.

We enjoyed the tour and getting to know more about the region. It is a long day, but worth the time it takes to get to these beautiful cities to see another side of Tuscany. The wine tasting was fun and we also enjoyed having time to explore on our own.
Give yourself some time to get there, and find the off path store. Upon arrival, we were greeted in a cute little bistro style wine shop. Definitely had a local vibe with the normal clientele visiting while we were tasting. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and generous with the pours. We had the cheese and meat plates with the tasting. The peppered beef paired phenomenally with the heaviest of vino tinto. The price point for bottles was not horrible and they offered shipping outside of Italy. A couple did not arrive so we had a little more wine to the four of us - yum ;). The high speed train failed us on the return, but the local train worked. Do not get suckered into a 130 Euro Uber.

I was nervous booking a solo wine tasting in Como, but I could not have had a better time! The experience was incredible and I got to meet the owner’s son and spend time tasting some of the selection they were deciding whether to sell in their store. The wines were amazing and the staff knowledgeable about the selection and very kind to me overall. It was the highlight of my holiday in Como! I will definitely be coming back.

Richard and Joanna made the tasting great and fun with their detailed information on each wine; the cheeses and vegees complimented the wines some addional pours were thoughtful and certainly enhanced the taking even more. We are so happy we chose this experience and recommend it to all. Should also mention the xtreme courtesy extended to us by the hosts and YES each wine was perfect!

Our booking with Capitan Drake for the wine, cheese & meat pairing exceeded all of our expectations! Our hostess, Sandu, was an impressive young lady. She was very engaging and thoroughly enjoyed sharing her love and knowledge of wine with both novice and those just a little bit more than novice. She shared four Italian wines from different areas of Italy and showed great depth and understanding of each one from terroir to bottle. The meat and cheese were as wonderful as the wine. Likely the best prosciutto I have ever eaten. As a bonus, she concluded our tasting with a very special Primitivo, which was absolutely fabulous! We were delighted with all of the wines Sandu chose for our tasting and purchased the three reds, which included the Primitivo. We chose this experience randomly to begin our three day stay in Como. Would highly recommend a visit for a tasting or just to purchase a bottle of wine, or two. The store had a great selection of international wines as well. The timing of our visit was not in the height of the touring season, therefore, our group of four were the only ones on a Thursday around 5:30pm. In season, this might be a tough seat to get, plan ahead. This is a must do in Como.

I was so pleasantly surprised that I had a tasting for one with Sandu a delightful and professional experience! She is excellent at her role in bringing the regions and wines to life. The vegetarian plate that was prepared for my tasting was beautiful and they were more than generous with offering more cheese to go with the wine. There was a table of 12 also there tasting so I was able to listen in on some of their different wines as well. Locals came in to buy wines, so it isn't just for tourists! It is a hidden gem and so comfortable and cozy. I kept track of most of the wines on my placemat and sent 6 bottles home to CA for a wine tasting with my friends. One of the highlights of our amazing trip! Unique regional wines poured by knowledgeable and entertaining staff. The selection and access is special because the shop has relationships with the wine makers.
My mother and I had a wonderful time learning about the wines of Italy, and the meat and cheese board was to die for. A little off the beaten path but worth it! We even got to taste some homemade tiramisu and dessert wine.

An unforgettable wine tasting experience! We had a fantastic time at this tasting. We were seated with a lovely group of people from all across Europe, which made for great conversation and shared laughs. The venue itself was absolutely stunning—surrounded by an impressive variety of wines that set the perfect atmosphere. We were served a delicious charcuterie board to complement the wines, each of which came from a different region of Italy. Our host was incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through each tasting with clear explanations about the origins, proper serving methods, and ideal food pairings for every wine. By the end, we were so impressed we ended up purchasing a dozen bottles to ship home. Highly recommend this experience to any wine lover visiting the area!

The staff was extremely professional and welcoming to the experience. They were clearly knowledgeable and they were able to clearly and concisely convey the aging/fermenting process and the regions of the grapes.
We had about 7 people total for our experience (we were a group of 3 within the 7) and it was amazing to have a such an intimate, personal experience inside the shop. Our guide for all of the wines was superb and the wines were unique but delicious! I've been to quite a few wine tasting, but this one has been my most memorable one yet! The location is a bit hidden and outside of Como and you would never know this amazing gem is right there! All of the wines we tasted were local and had beautiful stories and bites paired with them!

We travelled from Bellano, como, to attend and it’s safe to say that Capitain Drake is really the best!! Me and my partner loved every moment and also made some friends on the way ! Felt intimate and relaxing . We had a map of Italy so while they are explaining the wine and its origins, you have a map (genius idea)! They sell wine so that if you like it so much so that you have to bring them back YOU CAN . I did, two out of the 5 I tried !! I would have brought all but I could not bring them back with me. Staff are very knowledgeable and whether you know about wine or not , by the end, you’ll be a connoisseur! Grazie Mille a tutto lo staff , esperienza da rifare!

Everything was great, we loved the cheese board and wine pairing! We got to try wines from all over Italy and everyone was so well informed. When we come back to Como we will definitely come back here. Also, the wines for purchase were very reasonably priced we bought 12 to ship home (including most of the ones we tasted)!
